oops, didn't notice the thread was getting too big!

PMSL at the Burn's night smilies; I thought they were wearing earphones.

not sure I agree with them; as a proud Scot, I hate all that fucking tacky tartan crap that we get labelled with, tartan tammies and fake ginger hair more than most

Thanks. I am sat here with her beside me. She seems happy enough but isn't eating much. I will try to get an idea of how long we have from the vet tomorrow

LackaDAISYcal · 01/03/2010 20:19

Aw poor kitty jammy . My mum's cat had kidney failure and he was fine for a week or so, but once he went downhill the end was pretty quick iirc.

Mine is back on her usual irritating form and I guess we should find out whether it is the thyroid that is causing her loopy moments.

Good news for DD trace (thought you meant a scan for C there for a minute, lol)

meet up sounds good jbm....and sounds like no hairy handed truckers . how are you and yours doing? Have been thinking about you all.

Yay for a return to almost normality CC

Went to the docs today.....she thinks I have bursitis in my hip stemming from my fall when bumble was a few weeks old. Am going for an x-ray and will then get some steroid injections to take down the swelling and am on a course of ibuprofen. Also spoke to her about my ongoing pelvic issues and she did an exam . no prolapse but muscle tone is not good (inspite of regualr pelvic floors) so is sending me for urodynamic testing and then I may need an operation. things have gotten steadily worse to the point that I daren't venture too far from a toilet. And on top of all that I am on a regualr increased dose of ADs, when I had originally wanted to stop, but am going to get some more counselling/CBT to see if it helps. Definately got my money's worth out of the NHS today, lol

Sputnik, grobags sound good thanks. Let me know what you want for them!

Diasy....my GP has just suggested [http://moodgym.anu.edu.au/welcome this]] for me to use as I don't seem to be improving. May be worth a go? Its free and can do at your leisure

LittleMissNorty · 01/03/2010 22:09

bollocks sorry

LackaDAISYcal · 01/03/2010 23:31

thanks for that Norty . Have worked through the first bit of it, and although the sample characters are a bit transparent, some good stuff came out of it.

Hi everyone. I think I'll have a look at MoodGym too. Daisy - I'm currently having CBT and DEFINITELY think it's helping me. stick with it

Jammyrella · 02/03/2010 12:30

I started using moodgym a while back, thanks for the reminder to return to it.

LittleMissNorty · 02/03/2010 13:10

I've only done the first topic as well.....yet to find the time to do more

Never done CBT before so interested to hear you think its helps Fairy......I've got to get this bloody anxiety sorted!

LittleMissNorty · 03/03/2010 19:21

has everyone buggered off and forgotten to tell me or am I just billy-no-mates?

Jammyrella · 03/03/2010 20:17

Sorry Norty, just been wrapped up in real life for a bit I noticed today that the house was a bit of a state, and we had friends round this afternoon, so once we got in from work it was a quick whip round to tidy up and clean the bathroom and kitchen.

While we had been waiting for the bus home we were watching the world go by, including a woman with her newspaper tucked under her arm. For the rest of the wait Jamlet kept repeating "nudepaper, nudepaper"

FairyFay · 03/03/2010 21:02

It's def helped me Norty. The therapist thinks I have a combination of OCD and Generalized Anxiety Disorder (I am basically a froot loop ) - and I'd say it's the anxiety that it's really, really helping with

LittleMissNorty · 03/03/2010 21:51

I think I have that GAD as well Fairy - or social axierty - or both

Jammyrella · 03/03/2010 22:00

And I seem to have extremely low self esteem.

Had v sad talk with the vet yesterday about what will happen. Had me crying at work And then today a friend at work was telling me about her SIL dying of cancer, with just days left by the sounds of it. Put my situation into perspective it did! We both sat there crying this morning

LittleMissNorty · 03/03/2010 22:05

poor Jammy.....I really feel for you....I dread my cat going through this . Unfortunately, I see cancer every day in my job - and I'm just thankful I don't have to face the actual patients but I head some bloody tragic stories

(well that wasn't very supportive was it? Sorry)

Jammyrella · 03/03/2010 22:14

It's Ok norty. I used to help treat cancer patients so I am used to that. But that was different - it wasn't that I didn't care, but they were "just" patients (god that sounds heartless). But seeing my friend so upset got me upset - I think because it is on a parallel with our cat, both got a few days left probably (though vet has warned me cats can keep hanging on...). She even said that if her SIL was a cat she's at the stage where they would have her put down

Jammyrella · 03/03/2010 22:18

And thanks everyone for thinking of me and the cat - lovely to see so many replies on FB. I hope she doesn't turn out to be a "hanger on" - it is hard knowing there's not long left, but not knowing how long. But she's not eating much at all and when I stroke her I can feel her spine But she seems content, so I don't think she is suffering atm.

FairyFay · 04/03/2010 17:43

Have you seen the pics of the 10th birthday party, attached to the newsletter? 'Our' Bumper's looking very glam

FairyFay · 04/03/2010 17:44

here

Jammyrella · 04/03/2010 19:19

Doesn't she just

Jammyrella · 04/03/2010 19:45

Jamlet's got conjuntivitis Putting drops in is a nightmare! But that aside have had a good day with her. We made shell & glitter pictures this morning, and did some colouring and drawing in her comic. I thought she was doing really well, particularly with her drawing of Upsy Daisy. She had drawn a brown circle for a face, and sticky-up stripes of pink, yellow and lilac hair Then she took the black pen to draw on some eyes and just scribbled over the whole thing . We went to our children's centre in the afternoon and then played in the garden, enjoying the sun. Jamlet was up and down and up and down the slide while I got a spade out and started digging a new flower bed It was creepy having the cat watch me though, as before the flowers go in, she does

FairyFay · 04/03/2010 20:08

Jammy

LackaDAISYcal · 04/03/2010 20:45

jammy, but for jamlet's upsy daisy and "nudepaper"

Busy busy busy here, and struggling with anxiety and my own personal issues. Am waiting to hear about some CBT sessions as well. Good to hear that they are working for you Fairy.

where's Ria? Not like her to be this absent!

Good news is that the ibuprofen is definately helping with my dodgy hip....DD and I were out walking for nearly 6 hours today and I don't feel too bad.

Bad news is that the diet has gone tits up today....we were waiting for the car to be seen, and in hindsight I should have gone home, but we wandered around the shops and had two coffee huge mocha and brownie stops , plus a pub lunch. the pub didn't have any highchairs, but both bumble and DD sat nicely in tub chairs the whole time and were getting lots of compliments from the people at the neighbouring tables, although to be fair, DD was prolly just too knackered to be a pest

right...scrabble here I come..and then knitting. My folksy shop can't be up and running until I have some stock to put in it!

Jammyrella · 04/03/2010 20:47

Sorry to go on about our cat, but can I ask if you think I am saying the right things to Jamlet? For about a month now I have been telling her that we must be especially kind to Mia as she's not well, and she knew I was giving her medicine from the vet. This week I have told her that as animals and people get old their bodies get worn out and eventually they get too worn out to be mended, and that the vet has said that Mia's body is too worn out to be mended now so we have stopped giving her medicine now and soon her body will be totally worn out, and that is called dying. And when her body is totally worn out we will put her in the garden so that we know where she is and we can think about her. I have told her it is sad and that Mummy in particular will be sad but that it's OK.

I think I'm paranoid that death was kind of glossed over when I was a child, and I've recently been going through some bad times in my counselling discussing that. So i don't want to do the same to her, but I don't want to overload her either.

LackaDAISYcal · 04/03/2010 21:49

Aw jammy

That is such a lovely heartfelt explanation to jamlet and not overload at all, nor is it glossed over...and it brought a tear to my eye too.

tbh I feel quite that when DD asked me today why our gerbil died, I just said he was old, and old animals just die sometimes. Next time she asks though, as she is bound to, I will borrow heavily from you!

Also, don't worry if she seems quite blase and uninterested in what you said. She will be processing it in her own way and the questions will come out in the next few weeks, and even be prepared for her to ask about it in a years time. DS1 still occasionally asks about my Dad and he was only 3 when that happened.

and please don't worry about going on about it; tis what we are here for
