Oi! Over 'ere!

I'm using my sick leave well and have just booked a holiday in Oban - we're going to see Balamory and sea eagles, hopefully.

OP posts:

Bozza, re Baby Annabel. Ours is in the cupboard above our bed. DD got it into her head that she would do random crying in the middle of the night and threw her out of her bedroom door!
DD said last night "Let daddy wake me up tomorrow. He is my favourite in the family".
DS has been being yummy though. Just so smiley. He insisted on walking at Lyme Park today and wouldn't let me hold his hands at all, so I had to jog alongside and buffer him towards the wall like a sheepdog. Must find the reins...

Bozza · 07/08/2005 21:48

Its only "my first baby annabel" Judd so it doesn't do all the exciting crying, weeing type things. Glad you had a nice holiday helsy.

DD was funny today. Her 10 mo cousin came to visit and she was copying him. She's not sat still for so long since she learnt to walk. Then she was rolling over like he did. And when SIL did Row, row, row with him she came dashing over to me to join in. But then she had some excess energy so went charging up and down the hall several times with Annabel and the pushchair - bit more paint of the skirting boards....

Ponka · 08/08/2005 12:32

Hmmm. Kbaby. I think you should drop some light hints to MIL...... and try to get DD to drop some light hints too by stretching out to get some food off MIL's plate! . We also have an obsession with the washing machine here too but with turing it on rather than posting things in it. DS changed my 40% cycle to boil wash the other week! Lucky I was looking so no harm done.

So who's going to make the meet- up then? I am, all being well. Oh please come, everyone! So you can't make it anymore, Spots? You can't be persuaded, Helsy?

Hurrah, Hooray and phew, thank god. DS is finally getting tooth no. 5. I really thought that was it and that he wasn't getting any more, it's been so long.

DH has got the day off today. There's stew and potatoes all ready to go (lunch/dinner is normally at 12ish) but DS wouldn't go down for his usual morning nap and both DH and DS have fallen asleep on the sofa together (awww).

Yikes! Thank god for smoke alarms. Ours is so sensitive. While I was writing this, the potatoes had boiled dry . There are just a couple of burnt bits on the edges of a couple of potatoes but it could have been worse.

cat82 · 09/08/2005 14:17

She is! she really is! kiera is toddling!!! hurrah! little hesitant steps but definatly walking, oh i'm so proud i could burst

Ponka, i set the fire alarm off the other day while i was grilling lamb...odly enough while i was browsing mumsnet. Eek this website should come with a health warning
I'm definatly going to the meet up with DF and Kiera, we'll be in a fab mood as we'll have just met our puppy for the first time that morning.
Ooh! and congratulations!

Spots congrats to you too!

I'm getting really jelous of everyone now I could be joining you if it wasn't for the puppy we'd decided to have no 2! oh well, early days of puppyhood may be better than early days of babyhood
Seriously congratulations, fab news

Libb- stunning news about your house, you'll feel sooo much better now hopefully. I sent you a mail today, speak to you soon xxx

Sorry i've not posted for so long, i've had a bit of a crappy time lately. Now i've had my mediaction doubled and have started aerobics on docs advice, i'm feeling a bit better.

Right going to take kiera to the park this now, the sun is out and she adores the swings and the slide! it's really sweet she sits at the top and pushes herself off with a great big grin.
Can't wait to see all whoose going at the meet up.

xxx

spots · 09/08/2005 14:28

Cat so sorry you've been feeling bad again. But that is wonderful about Keira's walking - bet she is every bit as proud as you. We have no walking yet, DD just lost all interest in it! She used to love being up on her feet. Thanks for your congrats as well... I just had a scan date sent through, for next Wednesday! I thought I#'d have to wait for ages. No way will I be 12 weeks by then but heigh ho. If we can see anything I'll be well excited. Ponka, any scan dates for you yet?

GeorginaA · 09/08/2005 16:27

Cat: congratulations on kiera walking that's fabulous news! Sorry I stopped mid-MSN chat - ds1's friend arrived early and I didn't get a chance to come back to the computer!

Sorry to hear you've been feeling low again. Aerobics does sound good - I feel so much more positive when I'm fairly active, it does seem to make a big difference to emotional outlook.

kbaby · 09/08/2005 20:40

Cat82 I hope you feel better soon and the Med kicks in. Its also surprising how excercise can make you feel better.

Ive got a op booked for Friday. Im having my septum straightenend and my sinuses cleaned out. Ill be in overnight with a fornight off work cant wait.
DD's new thing this week is to drop something and say ' oh oh' and put her hands over her mouth in a gosh sort of way. I really enjoyed being off with her last week and im trying my hardest to persuade dh that after the next baby I want to work part time. Although were building a extension so the morgage is going up and my pleading isnt working.

egypt · 09/08/2005 21:10

good news about the walking cat. sorry to hear you were feeling bad again. do stick to the aerobics. exercise is indeed a wonderful thing. not that i do any!

kbaby, what is a septum? (sorry) and how/why are you having your sinuses done? am interested because all my life i have had terrible sinuses and dh keeps telling me i should have something done on them. what do they do?

going to the meet-up on sat, so very excited to meet you all! hope you are making name badges prufrock?!?! only joking, although would be good. shall we bring our own!?

Bozza · 10/08/2005 21:32

Cat hope the meds are kicking in and that the aerobics is helping. There'll be no stopping Kiera now.... Egypt I think the septum is the bit between your nostrils - you know, the bit that Daniella Westbrook lost from snorting too much coke. Kbaby hope all goes well for you and the two weeks off is more relaxation than recuperation.

Not much to report here. We're still toddling along in much the same way.

SusiS · 11/08/2005 08:42

omg! i think i am getting old!!!
got 2 birthday cards through both with red roses motive
where are the times when i used to get funny ones!!!!!!!!!!!!!

egypt · 11/08/2005 09:59

happy birthday susi!!

cat82 · 11/08/2005 13:08

Happy birthday Susi!

Well we went to the park this morning in the hope that being on soft grass would encourage Kiera to walk outside, but nothing doing. Oh well, she stood up holding a pine cone for about 2 minutes, just staring at it. She's fascinated with grass, picking it and then watching it fall it's really nice to watch her

I'm dreading next week, we're going to my grandparents while central heating is being fitted, DF is staying here and i'm going to miss him soooo much! Plus my grandfather is a difficult charachter to say the least. Still it'll be nice having my gran around

Egypt- Bozza's right about the septum. Good idea about the name badges btw!

Kbaby- good luck with the op, make usre you take it easy on your 2 weeks off.

I did aerobics last night and, my god, it almost killed me! it was unbelievably difficult and has confirmed my worst fears about just how unfit i am. You have to learn routines and it's constant for an hour and a half!

I do feel quite virtuous today tho.

Even if muscels (sp!) i didn't even know existed are threatening to go on strike if i even consider going back again

Love to all xx

Twiglett · 11/08/2005 13:17

hi all

well DD continues to eat us out of house and home and DS continues to complain vociferously 'I'm not hungry' when presented with a meal .. 'I'm hungry' every 10 minutes in between meal times

DD is now walking and can make it across the room so we've had to cave and buy her shoes

I've got a little op tomorrow too kbaby .. good luck for yours

GeorginaA · 11/08/2005 17:00

Is prufrock about?

Don't know where we're supposed to be going this Saturday and I really need to route/time plan. Or can someone email me the address with postcode, please?

Prufrock · 11/08/2005 17:32

You called.

Sorry - been away, and for longer thn I thought. Will e-mail immediately

Twiglett · 11/08/2005 19:21

GeorginaA · 11/08/2005 21:00

Sorry to hear that Twig - hope the op goes well tomorrow.

Got the email - thanks Prufrock

helsy · 12/08/2005 17:17

If the meet-up is tomorrow, have a lovely time, sorry I can't be there.

OP posts:
Ponka · 13/08/2005 19:59

I had such a nice day today. Nice to meet everyone who turned up. Thanks Prufrock. What a gorgeous house and what lovely toddlers. They were all really good. DS slept all the way back in the car.

Spots, thanks for the CD! Cute picture on the front. How's it going? Feeling tired and sick yet?

It's an early night for me tonight (and no big brother any more to persuade me otherwise). It's our wedding anniversary tomorrow (6 years). We are going to do something nice with DS in the day and then go out to a restaurant in the evening.

Ponka · 13/08/2005 20:01

Sorry you couldn't be there too, Helsy..... and everyone else.

SusiS · 13/08/2005 20:12

we sure had a great time too

thanks prufrock!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
big hugs again for nice welcome, food, drink, entertainment - everything really

i was impressed how well behaved all our kids were; well, guess that's probably only me, but normally lucas is all over the place and pushed and shoves alot! but they all played so nicely with each other!

so nice to put some faces to the nicks! and what a shame that some of you couldn't make it

and spots, thanks for the cd! what a lovely thing to do!!! i take it's your lo on the front cover???

ehm prufrock, sorry that we disappeared so aprupt - i really should have helped with tidying up!!!!!!!!! sowwy

lucas of course did not sleep in the car! (well, he got about 20min) - but when we came home he got his milk and bed it was. no complaints there

and it was just so great to see all the kids, how different they all are!
hope it was not the last time

oh and prufrock: house

GeorginaA · 13/08/2005 20:20

Also had a fab time here! Ds1 was VERY upset that he had to leave. Even when we got home he said very tearfully that he hadn't wanted to leave and could he go again, please! And ds2 had so much fun as well

I loved being able to put faces to names - I hope we can do another meet up again at some point Thank you for the CD spots! And thank you Prufrock, it was a lovely day (and please send me that recipe - can't believe how much ds2 ate today!!!!)

Prufrock · 13/08/2005 21:32

Thank you all for coming - susi, don't be ridiculous, it took no time to tidy up, and you all had to drive.

I have found a grey elephant in DD's room - has anybody lost one? It could have come from the huge collection she has, but I can't recall seeing it before. And I know you will all think I'm anally retentive, but if anybody fids they have taken a yellow block home could I please have it back? The gap in the block trolley is really annoying me

Georgina - dd was also quite distraught to see DS1 go. She wants to know why we can't have another party tomorrow and said that he could have stayed and slept in her sleeping bag!

Shepherds Pie:
1 onion, 1 stick celery, 1 carrot. Chop finely and sweat. Add 1 pack lean mince and fry. Add tin good qulaity tomatoes, squish up. 1/4 fill tomato tin with apple juice and slosh to get all tomato juice and add to pan, big splash worcester sauce and simmer for about 30 mins. opping is about 6 potatoes and 1 parsnip, boiled and mashed together with milk and butter, then assemble and bake until kids start to scream for food (10-40 minutes depending on how cold it is whe you put it in)

egypt · 13/08/2005 21:35

thank you so much, prufrock.. we had a great time. dh very envious that you have sky and i still won't let him

please remind me of your barbados cream recipe, half double cream, half what else? and what sugar? mmmmmmmm. believe me everyone who couldnt make it, prufrock makes yummy food.

was so lovely to meet everyone and your lo's and dp/dh/df's. dd LOVED it and dh wants to get her a ball pool now. god knows where we'd put it! dd slept all the way home and hence didnt go to bed until just a few mins ago. eek

cat, forgot to nose at your engagement ring.

LUUUUURVE your house p.

spots · 13/08/2005 22:05

Am so glad and at the same time! it all sounds so good. Did all the May babies look sternly at each other? Who all went in the end? Did you all spend ages choosing what to wear? And who's got the brick from Prufrock's brick trolley?

Am pleased the CDs arrived - first class post not always reliable. Yes that is DD on the front - bet she has the least hair of all of them. I was so sorry I had to cut off her shoes to fit her on the box - they were v cute green frilly ones (sound horrible)(oh well hardly important).

We spent today just piddling around on the beach and in the garden - I really was v. tired and wondered how on earth I'll manage with two. Doing the nappy wash made me wonder that in capital letters. And I was doing face painting at a local charity thing so that was fun. But I was thinking about you all down there!

Ponka, happy wedding anniversary for tomorrow. Hope you're not suffering sickness.
