Oi! Over 'ere!

I'm using my sick leave well and have just booked a holiday in Oban - we're going to see Balamory and sea eagles, hopefully.

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SusiS · 04/08/2005 08:50

libb, good to hear from you
glad that you feel so positive! and right you are!!!!! hope your move goes smootly.

talking? hmm, not much really. dp is a bit upset that he understands so much more german than english, but then again - i do talk alot more to/with him than dp does

we've got
wuffwuff for dog, and a high pitched whiney sounds for cat, and lately a very loud eekeek for monkey
broombroom for car
so just like you - more sounds than words!

he does say 'hello' and 'baba' (for please)
and lately he discovered 'mum' again, oh and 'ticktack' for clock; and something like 'babeen' for banana

but why would i be worried - i didn't talk till i was 3

spots · 04/08/2005 09:53

Libb, that's really brilliant . seems like it's been too long in coming and you really deserve this. Esp. if it's a REALLY NICE HOUSE. Just what you and DS need. Hooray.

Ponka · 04/08/2005 12:45

Congratulations Spots!

So pleased for you Libb.

Only 9 weeks, Susi! Glad the weather's not too hot for you at the mo.

Glad the op went o.k, Bozza.

Egypt, what a cute dress and what a lot of words. I think the wrong words are the most hilarious, too. DS' animal noises are a bit mixed up. Cows say Boo and Pigs, Dogs, Ducks, Catterpillars (?!) and Giraffes all make the same noise (2 short gruff sounds). Butterflies are called (Wow - wa), which also means flower and shower. Even I'm starting to get confused.

Spots, you've got yourself a copy cat here. I found out on Monday that I am pregnant, too. I'm guessing about 5 weeks but I've only done a home test. We've been trying 2 or 3 months. My god. Anyone else? Perhaps there's something in the water? At this rate, we'll probably end up both on 2 identical post natal club lists.

Don't feel bad about the drinking just before finding out. Exactly the same happened to me. I went out clubbing and drinking quite heavily last weekend. Sure, I would have done things differently, had I known, but it's done now.

Am finding things tough already because the day after I found out I came down with a stinking cold/ flu thing. Can't even take many drugs for it. I'm off work, taking it easy today. It's weird being in the house wihtout DS. I hope he doesn't get it. On top of that, I've got to kick the caffeine habbit. I drink anything from 5 to 10 cans of pepsi max a day (don't do tea or coffee). I'm only allowing myself 1 a day but going cold turkey isn't easy for the first few days.

Prufrock · 04/08/2005 13:15

Congratulations spost (again) and Ponka.

Libb - so pleased you have a startdate for your new life away from dickhead. Is it still in H. or are you moving into town?

GeorginaA · 04/08/2005 13:31

Congratulations, Ponka!

looks nervous - this pregnancy thing isn't catching, is it?!! Getting a bit worried now

spots · 04/08/2005 13:40

Oh wow Ponka! Jigging with glee here! That's just brilliant! CONGRATULATIONS .

Anyone else got anything they want to tell us...?

GeorginaA · 04/08/2005 13:51

Nope, but at this rate I'm sending dh for the snip just to be sure

Prufrock · 04/08/2005 13:58

Oh I want another. I do I do I do.

Ponka · 04/08/2005 14:32

OMG Prufrock, I forgot to tell you about my dream!

I went to Cambridge University and I was walking down the corridors when I saw a board with information on all about you. Prufrock was actually your real name and you had just become a Billionnaire because you had invented a balsamic vinegar that doesn't go off (not that it really does anyway!).

Ahem - I'll be expecting the un - invite to the meetup shortly. I'm sure you don't want any mad women present?!

Ponka · 04/08/2005 14:33

p.s.

you should have another! Go on, go on, go on, go on.....

Judd · 04/08/2005 18:09

I know this thread's not about her...but DD has just come out with something so obscure that I've got to share it (DH naturally doing something high flying somewhere miles away!). She's just asked if I have any pictures of when I used to be a REAL fish. As opposed to what??!
Congratulations Ponka! So is there a virtual pregnancy chair that you've all been sitting on

GeorginaA · 04/08/2005 18:27

LOL Judd. My eldest (I think he was trying to be reassuring, as ds2 was a bit upset when we left him at nursery the other day) came out with "Don't worry, Mummy. When I go to school, I'm not going to miss you ONE LITTLE BIT!"

Gee, thanks kid.

Judd · 04/08/2005 19:50

GoerginaA - meant to say ages ago, thanks for posting on my thread about entertaining baby and pre schooler! Quite surprise - I always imagine your two playing happily together whilst you write a novel curled up in your windowseat, whereas I imagine Bozza's two playing happily together whilst she has her hair put in Botticelli angel-type ringlets. Shatter my illusions???
DS took a handbag to the park today. I'm ....er...guessing this is a normal developmental step, right?

spots · 04/08/2005 19:52

LOL at Bozza's hair in Botticelli angel-ringlets! (Not that I know it is anything less...)

Twiglett · 04/08/2005 19:52

I can't wait till DS goes to school full-time

he had 5 full days at nursery whilst my kitchen was being done (big favour) and it was fabulous .. he loved it and I loved getting to know DD like she was an only / first child

GeorginaA · 04/08/2005 19:58

LOL Judd... of course it would have been more helpful had I actually some advice

Twiglett - know what you mean. Counting down the days to September myself!

egypt · 04/08/2005 19:59

o oh oh oh congratulations ponka. now will you lot all just STOP getting pregnant!??! like georgina, it's giving me the willies ho ho ho

hi twiglett, missed you xx

prufrock, got your email - all your plans sound great, but don't go to any great trouble please. i will confirm with you asap, i'm sure we can make it, just got to chat with dh when he gets home from america.

feel like i have misrepresented my daughter with her vocab. honest, i bet it's only me that understands them. its not like she is really talking. oh god, you're all going to meet her in 2 weeks and think i was lying.

Judd · 04/08/2005 20:01

Does he start in Sept, Twiglett?
I'm eagerly looking forward to Sept because DD will do 5 sessions of pre school. On Monday and Tuesdays they are from 12.30 - 3pm and that'll mean one and a half hours all to myself whilst DS sleeps! I might kick start my Neighbours addiction again.....

egypt · 04/08/2005 20:01

no, ONE week!!

(wink)

SusiS · 04/08/2005 20:32

oh wow, another one pregnant
congrats Ponka

wasn't me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ha! just convienced dp that i can't go on my own to the meeting; he'll come too
and thx prufrock, but we'll go home the same day - now i've got a nighttimedriver

kbaby · 04/08/2005 21:26

Hello,
Sorry ive not been on for a while.
Cant remember who asked the snack question but mil tends to give dd toast, fruit loaf, malt loaf, oranges, cherries or biscuits. On the weekend I normally give her chesse sticks, breadsticks or a sandwich. Were running out of ideas for food now. I find it difficult to give her food that MIL can quickly heat up, up until now ive been giving jars or home cooked frozen tubs of meals. I feel embarrassed to say to MIL can you start cooking her dinner and tea. Its also awkward because we dont eat dinner until 8-8.30 so DD cant eat with us and again she generlly just has another pot of food.
Ive had a few days off work this week. Weve stayed in Tenby. We went to Folly Farm which DD thought was fab. She got to see all the animals and we let her walk around all days. She was screaching in delight. Shes also found that when on the reins she can lift her legs off the floor and hand by the reins like a sky diver.

Spots a big congrats, what good news.

DD has been wonderful this week its been so nice spending time with her. Weve had such fun and its funny to see the little things she's learnt.
DH decided to show her how to put rubbish in the bin. ie if she has a old magazine he says go and put it in the bin. The problem with that little trick is that today I found her flannel from the bathroom in the bin and a book. We also had a book washed with the clothes on Sunday just after I had bosted to DH that I always have to check the washing machine for perculiar items
DD is saying quite a few words until we meet anyone and then if I say 'what does the dog/cukkoo, lion, duck, cow etc do' she goes completley quiet with a blank expression.
Congrats Ponka, now I really am jelous. Im so broody ive even started looking at the maternity clothes in the mothercare catologue
Sorry for the long message. Ill have to remember to log on more often.

kbaby · 04/08/2005 21:27

Must also remember to preview the message for terrible spelling.

Flossam · 05/08/2005 20:16

Libb, stalking you - sorry everyone! Glad to hear you have hopefully worked something out. I have my fingers crossed for you and still think of you often. lots of love xxx

Bozza · 05/08/2005 21:45

kbaby I see your dilemma re the food thing because now DD could probably pretty much be sharing your MILs own food. Although on the food front DD is the least of my worries - she has eaten 3 full meals spoon feeding herself like a little angel. Whereas DS between breakfast at 7.30 and tea at 6 ate one mouthful of lentil and tomato soup and one crouton (homemade so on the big side).

DD has turned into a real book worm. She's always reversing towards my lap with a book. I think I am going to have to hide "That's not my fairy"......before I go insane - when DS was this age I had to hide "10 little ladybirds".

Judd you do have some funny notions. You obviously missed my major angst last time I had my hair done about DS and his friend totally trashing his bedroom and breaking several toys while DD wouldn't leave my side and kept standing on my feet while I had my colour washed off. And this "playing happily together" thing? Whats that? Actually i am being unfair the other night they were playing in the new playhouse with Baby Annabel brilliantly. In and out of the house with DS "Annabel's tired she needs to go to sleep in her pushchair", "Annabel's done a poo" etc and DD his little shadow.

helsy · 06/08/2005 16:09

Hello- a week away and look what happens.

Congratulations Ponka, good news Libb I hope it works out.

We came back from Scotland last night, had a great time, went to Mull and it managed to pee down when we got to Toberbalamory, which was handy because we HAD TO take shelter in this lovely art gallery/coffee shop/craft shop and we decided dd2 and I should stay there all afternoon to keep dry whilst DH and Dd1 went to look for Edie Maccreadie's house and I ate cheese and oatcakes.
Dd2 settled really well in her travel cot and the babbling is coming along nicely. We have "ted" to refer to any soft toy, "daddy" loud and clear (grrrr), "wassat?", "wheresit?", "taaaa" and one never repeated "aah, thass better" after a drink two days ago - and lots of animal noises which all sound like waaah.
