Oi! Over 'ere!

I'm using my sick leave well and have just booked a holiday in Oban - we're going to see Balamory and sea eagles, hopefully.

Hi,lots of activity here! The space bar on my computer is broken so I'm only doing wee posts at the moment. Have to addspaces afterwards,v.annoying. Not much happening here, though had a show last night of sorts... Ponka has also had a show but also some contractions!Grinsonotthat longforus perhaps.

DD islovely atthe moment. Very affectionate and talkative. I hope we will be able to get somnething together for her birthday...All she wants is cake! She loves the cake picture in 'The Elephant and the Bad Baby'(anyoneknowit?) and I wouldlove to replicate allthe cakesforher but whether I'll have timeornotisanother matter. Maybe abighuge jellywillhave tosuffice.
maybe...

love to y'all...

Spots, love the space bar thing! Ithinkweshouldallwritelikethatfromnowonnonotreally
!
I'd forgotten about Spots and Ponka being due soon. Bit jealous, actually. Pull yourself together woman, you're 41!

Nursery want to move dd2 up to the 2 - 2.5 yr room in May (they do room moves in January, May and September) but she won't be 2 until 21st and she likes this room, has only been there since January, and the other room has a telly and the nursery nurses don't seem to be doing much with the children when we look in. I spoke to the manager about it and she said it's up to us. Not sure what to do now as her friends are going up too so don't want her left behind and having to get to know new children for three months then maybe moving again.......glad she's only in 3 days a week now.
I walked back from nursery with dd2 today so a 10 minute walk took almost an hour and we spent most of it looking up at the sky for an aeroplane so I have a crick in my neck.

Dd1 did a class assembly last week and DH and I were away for the night so my DM took dd1 to watch her, and apparently in the middle of dd2 reading out her Springtime poem dd2 started shouting "Cissy! Cissy!" and had to be restrained. Cissy is what she calls dd1. It's nothing like her name, just one dd2 made up for her!

We're off to Wales for Easter - dd2 hasn't seen enough sea IMO. Hope the weather stays nice.

Sounds like we should be expecting some announcements on here soon. Very exciting. My friend who was induced last Friday finally had her baby last night. Don't worry she hasn't been in labour all that time! Helsy I know how you feel - when you hear about babies being born there is a certain pang - but you can't keep on having them forever. Grin

kbaby · 06/04/2006 19:50

OHH I HOPE THEY HAVE THEM SOON..

I forgot to say Egypt, I hope everything goes well with the clomid. Youve done it once so im sure you can do it again.

Bozza · 06/04/2006 21:41

Come on Spots and Ponka. Spots posted on the other thread that she had contractions in the night but then they had gone off a bit.

helsy · 07/04/2006 11:42

Well? Any news? Yes Bozza, bit broody but as DH was sent off to the vet with two bricks after dd2 was born I don't think that's going to happen Wink, unless I trade him in for a younger model.
I'm at home with dd2 today, just finished doing some work on the computer and I'm about to go and see whether someone has just accidentally piled three tons of manure into the bedroom or whether she has just filled her nappy Grin

DD has got tonsilitis. Now feel guilty about sending her to nursery Weds/Thurs. Did keep her off Tuesday though.

Had crappy day. Went into town with kids (DS on training day) to do some shopping and then walk to Family Planning Clinic for appt re implant because sh*te parking at FPC. BUT managed to get lost after coming out of subway at other side of ringroad and spent 1 hour walking round strange areas of Huddersfield (fairly hilly too) pushing DD and dragging DS and missed my appt. So had to take them to Greggs and buy them the dreaded sausage roll. DD fell asleep in the pushchair for about 20 mins so didn't have a proper nap and coupled with the tonsilitis has been mega grumpy. Got back to car and had parking ticked even though I had paid and displayed so now got to appeal. DS's 30 min swimming lesson ran over by 20 mins making us late for DD's doctor's appt. She has now got to be on vile antibiotics (taste awful) for a fortnight. DS insisted on watching Narnia and DD is really scared of the wolves. etc etc. Not that I'm moaning or anything.... Wink

Judd · 07/04/2006 21:51

Sounds horrible Bozza - much sympathy.

We are OK, touch wood.

Just watching Frost and I'm crap at following plots so will have to go.

Bozza · 09/04/2006 20:10

I've got over it now. Written an appeal letter about the parking ticket and posted it recorded delivery first thing Saturday morning. Off to Eureka near Halifax with a friend and her DS tomorrow - given the weather it will be packed.

But really came on here to say:
Spots?
Ponka?

Do you think I should look on the due in April thread to see if there is any info?

Judd · 09/04/2006 21:16

I've just had a look on the April thread, Spots and Ponka were both around on Thursday...but nothing since. They all sound mightily fed up!
Our two have been in bed since 6.30pm, both have a temperature, no appetite, runny noses. They also both had a lunchtime sleep and DS fell asleep in creche at church this morning. DD must be feeling achey too, as she has today accused DH of breaking her arm and me of breaking her top lip (after a nose blow)! So I am expecting the Easter Hols to get off to a quiet start!

Bozza, have you been to Eureka before? Tell me what it's like, will you? (also cost).
We have got rid of our big pram - gone to my sister in law who is due in June. Love love love just having the buggy because it lives in the back of the car rather than in the hallway - could almost hire out the space we have gained to a lodger (albeit a very tiny one with no stuff).

Bozza · 09/04/2006 21:35

I'm getting rid of my big pram when I can be arsed to clean it up. My friend is having it to keep at her Mum's (will have baby when friend working). Find the idea quite liberating. It's funny certain things I am sad to see go, other things (big high chair) it is a relief. Top stair gate came down this week - a week too late since just the week before I managed to get huge bruises on the top of my foot and my thigh from it and it feels so open on the landing.

DD fell asleep in pushchair on way to Church this morning but I woke her up. Grin But still had two hours this pm. I woke her up again. Grin

I have been on the Eureka website and it is £6.95 for adults and 3+s. And £1.95 for under 3s. So it's going to be £16, near enough, for me.

spots · 09/04/2006 21:45

Bozza · 09/04/2006 21:51

Smile Brilliant news spots. Did think something must have been happening. See we willed you to come on and post that - me and Judd. Wink

Judd · 09/04/2006 21:57

Congratulations Spots! Will keep looking for your birth announcement proper. Feel a bit tearful!
I am thinking about taking down the stairgate son. We never bothered between children because I was pregnant again when DD was 20 months so it seems to have always been here. I was very glad to get rid of pram and high chair but cannot contemplate getting rid of cot at any point in the near future (DH is keen though). Also can't wait to do potty training although will hang fire with that for a bit.

I've talked to pre school about DS starting, it will be next January for 3 sessions a week. 7.5 hours ON MY OWN!

Ponka · 11/04/2006 21:31

Hi Guys. Just a quick one but it sounds like you've already been peeking at the due April thread (bit more on there from me, if anyone wants to take a look).

Luke Elliott. Born on Friday 7th 10pm. 8lB 1 oz. He is very healthy and I am a bit ropey but I'll be O.K. in a few weeks. Jake has been a very good boy about all the upheaval.

Take Care all of you. Hope to catch up properly with what you've been up to soon but for now, there's a hungry baby downstairs....... Smile

Ponka I have just been and read your April thread. Well done on managing your VBAC. It sounded quite tough. As I read the bit where you said that you needed and episiotomy but there was still a 50% chance of a section I thought "oh no, poor thing is going to end up with stitches in both places!" but you managed to avoid that. Hope little Luke is still doing well. Smile

Spots do we have a name?

egypt · 12/04/2006 20:08

oo, oo, oo congratulations both of you! am popping over to april thread now.

i find it so amazing that u were bot due on same day and had them on same day. i'm a bit sad like that

Ponka · 15/04/2006 22:44

Cheers Egypt and Bozza. No, I find it weird, too, Egypt.

Never thought of that, Bozza. Stiches in both places! I'm suddenly feeling very lucky. By the way, we have a naughty spot now because the hitting has really started Grin. We have had for about a month. DS spent a very long half an hour eating his strawberries for pudding today, putting each little bit on a naughty spot, telling it off, saying sorry and then eating it (?!? Shock)

BTW, Spots now has a Birth Announcement, with a name...... Smile

Must go get some sleep.....

kbaby · 16/04/2006 09:02

Congrats spots and ponka well done to both of you. Im off to take a peek at the april thread.

So has anyone else still got the stair gates up?
Ive been thinking about how I needed to buy another one for when DD moves into her big girl room. Maybe im being a bit over cautious.

Hmm on the Potty training front. DD is asking to change her bum all the time and if she has a wee she stands there in hysterics holding her nappy. Ive got the potty and toilet seat out but she wont sit on either as they are 'too cold' So theres not much I can do until the summer when shes happy to sit on a cold seatSmile unless any of you have some advice I could steal.

egypt · 17/04/2006 10:44

hmm, not much advice kbaby. we have a wooden loo seat which isnt too cold and dd has a 'froggy' seat, which is plastic which goes under the adult seat. she like sitting on the loo but hasnt done anyhing yet. its a start i guess. she has a plastc potty too but isnt bothered about that one. she says 'toilet' so you stick her on, then after a few seconds she wants to get off.

dd is at the zoo with my mum and dad Grin

kbaby · 18/04/2006 15:19

Weve had a lovely weekend. Went out with some friends and their older children at the weekend. DD loved copying them and just chasing them around giggling to herself. We also went to the local pub and DD came back to the table with her face painted!

Bozza · 18/04/2006 20:34

DD will sit on the potty but only with a nappy on so we are not doing any better kbaby. I have earmarked the end of May/beginning of June to potty train - the weekend after the bank holiday.

Ponka - I had a problem the other day. I needed two naughty places and was unprepared. I suppose it was inevitable eventually but I ended up "right, DS, you go and sit on the step and, DD, you erm, er, sit there in the dining room" floundering a bit.

Have had a really busy weekend with doing stuff with the kids. Friday - Sherwood Forest. Saturday - swimming lesson, garden centre, meet DH at golf. Sunday - went to meet my friend's new DS, then onto my sister's for tea, Sunday, day out with Thomas with SIL, BIL, and nephew and then back to theirs for tea. Today, Farm at Bolton Abbey with my two sisters and nephew, and then onto a pub in Burnsall for lunch. Don't suppose some of you northern/southern ones will know all these places but Judd might have an idea.

DD has suddenly started getting scared of things. I am becoming rather concerned. She has always been scared of the hoover but so far this Easter she has been scared of:
the dark
the hoover
her 14 month old cousin (admittedly a bit rough)
my sister's dog
some tiny lambs at the farm
the guinea pigs
the opening scenes of Madagascar
It is becoming wearing.

Judd · 19/04/2006 12:37

DS is scared of the dark (has nightlight), the end of Come Outside and Razzle Dazzle going down the "slide to ride".
I think you beat us, Bozza, in doing things over the BH weekend although we still whizzed around quite a lot. Friday visited my mum in Blackpool, Saturday - Monday ILs were staying with us. They took DD to see The Gruffalo at the Lowry, then there was an Easter Egg Hunt at the local park, then we went to Rudyard Lake because there is a little train you can ride around it.

Spots not managed to post on this thread yet? I want her to type coherently whilst dangling a DD off each bosom !

Ponka · 19/04/2006 14:08

No real tips Kbaby but a shot in the dark idea. Could you keep the potty in the airing/boiler cupboard to be whipped out when needed?!

Bozza, our naughty spot is just in the middle of the room, wherever we are, as long as there are no toys and nothing to play with. I hope that's going to work out. It seems to be doing the trick so far. We even had a naughty spot in a restaurant the other day, which was on their nappy changing station Shock.

Sherwood forest is definately our neck of the woods and Rudyard lake is near where I grew up so I do know some of the places you two are talking about. Very nice they are, too.

By contrast to your galavanting, we managed to make it round the corner to Mum and Dad's today to give Mum a birthday present. We managed to get out of the house for 11:00 and on arrival DS2 had projectile vomited all over the car, his seat, his coat and his sleep suit and had done a poo. We just had time to give Mum and Dad the present, change him, clean him, clean the car in time to get home again for dinner! Grin. We'll get used to it soon!

It's a trip into town to register the birth tomorrow. We'll see what happens with that one!
