Ok so a pretty boring thread title but thought we needed some distance from the last one!

Inzi - so sorry about your dad hun, the last thing you need to be dealing with right now. It's really good that he got to hospital though and they're taking good care of him. At least he's generally fit and healthy, I'm sure that makes a big difference, hopefully he'll make a full recovery soon.

NC - sending wide-awake vibes to you to let you get all your assignments done, then much-needed zzzzzs. California would be lovely - to dream about anyway. Shame on Rich going away the week before your exam - hopefully you'll sail through anyway.

BB4 - have been reading about your running on fb - very impressive, you put me to shame. Well done getting your basement sorted too - how cathartic.

Hope everybody enjoyed their bank holiday. I've had a really bad cold and felt shocking on Saturday. After I dropped Anya off yesterday for her sleepover I slumped on the sofa and couldn't move - I felt like I'd been drugged. Decided it was my body telling me to rest so I went with it and dozed in front of the TV for the rest of the afternoon/evening. This morning should have been restful but I ended up having to go and hunt for a birthday present for a friend I was having lunch with - I'd already got her something but on Saturday some friends asked if I wanted to club together with them and get her something bigger as it's her 50th - I said yes and then they said if they sent me a cheque for their contributions would I get something from all of us? A bit as I've got less free time than them but at least they made some reasonable suggestions for ideas - it did mean I didn't quite get the relaxing morning I'd wanted. Lunch was nice though, and the present I'd originally got her will keep, so that's my Christmas shopping started!

Off to give her a bath now. Hugs to everybody.

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 03/05/2010 19:04

Oh and I got a big box of Ferrero Rocher from my neighbours yesterday for mowing our shared lawn when it was their turn - so that was a lovely surprise too .

babyblue4 · 03/05/2010 19:46

WWAJC - Mmmm chocolate!! That was nice of your neighbours I spent some time gardening yesterday and ended up weeding a good section (but not all) of my neighbours portion of our shared lawn. Fat chance I will even get a thank you. They are nice enough, but not very talkative. I think the wife is upset with me though over my cat. We recently kicked him out of the house after he started peeing all over the kids toys in the basement. He is 12 so no one will adopt him. Now he sleeps and eats in our garage, and roams the streets during the day. Well, my neighbour felt sorry for the cat being outdoors and would bring him to me every night to put him inside. I finally got fed up and told her nicely, that he was now an outdoor cat. Ever since then, she feeds him and looks at me like we are horrible cat abusers!! Since they dont bother weeding their lawn, and I dont want the weeds growing on my side, I have had to weed a wide strip down the centre to prevent spreading!! LOL

Anyway... glad you had time to relax while Anya was on her sleep-over. Too bad you were under the weather and couldn't really enjoy it. Right now, I have managed to get both babies asleep at the same time, so I am having a quiet moment on the computer with no interruptions!

NeedCoffee · 04/05/2010 20:21

Hi everyone

Inzi-How's your dad?

WWAJC- Grr @ your friends expecting you to get the gift, you are very nice for doing it. Sorry you feel so rubbish, I hope you feel better soon.

BB4-You meany cat evicter Ummm, aren't cats meant to like being outside?

Choc-Ohhh dear, dog.... hmm, I can totally understand why you're feeling like that, well I may be wrong, but sometimes I feel like I want a dog, or a cat, or another baby. Think it's the need to be loved unconditionally and love and be needed in a type of way. Your reasons could be completely different! What you decided anyway?

Hi Strawberry! Did you get your work done? What else have you been up to?

I've had a really unproductive day with college work, had Shannon at nursery, feel ill still with sore throat etc and could not get my head round my assignment. Oh and I've got the type of raging PMT where I could strangle someone with my bare hands if they looked at my chocolate.

Anyway, where is everyone these days? It is so quiet here now

chocolatestar · 04/05/2010 22:43

I think the dog thing has passed. Am going mental. First day back, ok although grumpy with pupils which I don't like.

Think I have a uti, very unpleasant burny pain. Just what I need.

Nc sometimes you jus have to let a day go when you are studying, concentrate on getting healthy. Hope you feel better soon.

NeedCoffee · 04/05/2010 22:54

Aw sorry you've got a UTI Choc, plenty of cranberry juice and get some abs on order from doc.

Rich has brought me some books and talked me through it a bit, has helped slightly, got tomorrow aswell, fingers crossed I'll be productive.

Um what's with the T and Facebook things?? As if you can post a thread on FB and Twitter. Don't like that

BB4 - lol at you being cat abusers, I'm sure he is just fine living outside. Hope your neighbours do some of the weeding sometime, otherwise you should definitely get chocolate. Our neighbours are lovely but they never mow the lawn and we have a lot of grass because we own a very small strip of land over the road too (that's much less grand than it sounds). They're always apologetic though and must be feeling more guilty than usual this time because they know I'm doing it by myself. I can see a steady supply of chocolate over the summer . Well done getting both little ones to sleep at the same time - that must be a rare moment of bliss.

NC - hope you're having a better day today. I sympathise with the PMT - shall I share my choccies with you?

Choc - sorry you've got uti - any chance it's just cistytis? Hope it clears quickly anyway. Don't be too hard on yourself about being grumpy, it's only to be expected.

Inzi - oh so sorry your dad is behaving like this, even if it's not really his fault - it's the last thing you and your family need. Has your mum spoken to their GP? Maybe he needs to be on something to calm his mood swings, as long as that doesn't interfere with his heart of course. Lots of hugs to you and your family - hope this tough time gets easier soon.

I'm having quite a relaxing day today with Anya. We've had to wait in this morning for someone to come and check whether we can have a water meter fitted and then we're going to do some shopping this afternoon - I want to get some decent bathroom scales, I'm a bit concerned about how tight some of my clothes are getting. I should be revising - I have a mortgage exam on Friday and I've let it creep up on me without me realising. Is anybody else quite excited about the election tomorrow? For the first time ever I would quite like to watch the results come in overnight - except I can't because I'll need a decent night's sleep for my exam. Bad planning on my part!

Awwww Inzi So sorry for everything you're going through. Do you have someone to help with Jane? Maybe SIL? Please make sure you rest, and sorry that your dad is acting unlike himself, I imagine it must be very difficult for him to feel so helpless.
to you xx

WWaJC-Did you get some scales? I've put so much weight on since meeting Rich, I have to avoid scales, and mirrors too for that matter Hope you had a nice day with Anya, how has she been at nursery lately?

Dalrymps · 05/05/2010 20:32

Just popping in again to say i'm thinking of you inzi. So sorry youe dad is acting in such a worrying way, hopefully he's just reacting to the stress of the situation and it'll calm down soon...

Sorry you had extra stress today too, please make sure you take the midwifes advice and put your feet up, we're all here for you to offload aswell. (((big hugs)))

chocolatestar · 05/05/2010 21:50

(((Inzi)))) I am so sorry things are so difficult with your Dad. Sounds like the stress of it has really got to him. Please try to relax as much as you can, I know it is easy to say. Let us know if there is anything we can do.

I am both excited and fearful about the elections. I am toying with the idea of staying up and watching too but have school in the morning.

Dog desire has passed. I don't even really like dogs!

Had a difficult day today. I had a really horrible dream about my dad last night, it was very upsetting and it stayed with me all day. Plus horrible pain, now have antibiotics so that should clear up soon.

Heading for bed.

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 08/05/2010 10:53

Inzi - glad everything was ok with the baby - really hope you get plenty of rest and lovely massages from dh. So sorry you're having to go through so much stress.

NC - yes I got some scales from Tesco. I'm half a stone heavier than I thought I was . That would explain the look on my GP's face when I saw her a couple of weeks ago and she asked me if I knew how much I weighed - I picked the figure I thought I was then knocked half a stone off and told her that - I was miles out!
Anya didn't go to nursery on Monday, being a bank holiday, so h has dropped her off the last 2 times on Thursdays. She's put her sad face on but not cried, and the comments in her nursery book are still good. I'll see how she is on Monday - I'm not worrying about it, she's happy when she's there.

Choc - hope you felt better after Wednesday night's sleep. lol at 'I don't really like dogs' - glad that you decided not to get one then!

I did watch some of the election overnight - dozed with the bedroom TV on until 1am. Can't believe how accurate the exit poll turned out to be - think they got it spot on last time too. It was very frustrating on Friday being locked away in an exam room for the morning and not knowing what was happening until I got into work. I don't think anybody got much work done yesterday - most of us had the election website with the TV feed running. David Dimbleby must have been exhausted by the end - anchoring for nearly 18 hours straight?
I passed my exam anyway - it's one of those online ones where you find out straight away. Glad that's over with. I now have a week off work and Anya and I are going to Derbyshire on Tuesday for 3 nights. I'm not expecting that to be a very relaxing break but at least it will be a change of scenery so should recharge the batteries a bit.

Have a nice weekend everybody x

LisaLessLumpy · 09/05/2010 14:23

Inzi - what an awful time you are going through, I hope your dad is howing some signs of improvement soon, and I hope you are doing as told and getting lots of rest.

WWAJC - I'll facebook you my mobile number, let me know what day is best for you to meet up. Sam is at school all week and Ben is at nursery Tuesday and Thursday, so Wednesday will prob be best for me so Anya has a playmate with Ben :-)

Hope everyone is ok, sorry I have been awol for so long, just never seem to get round to posting and catching up with news.

Well we have now bought the land we wanted so its all go on the building front with a probable start date of Sept 1st :D and a move in date of next May, sooo excited. I am also going to get a dog when we move :D

Love to you all x

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 09/05/2010 16:58

LLL - read your fb message before seeing your post on here. Wednesday good for us - can't wait to see you and Ben. Congrats on buying the land - fantastic news, and such a quick nove in date. One year and counting!

FloriaTosca · 09/05/2010 22:50

Hi I'm sorry I've been rubbish yet again.....Posting so i don't lose you all again.
I'll catch up tomorrow (fates willing)
hope you are all ok xxxx

babyblue4 · 10/05/2010 04:49

A lot of us seem to be going awol lately myself included. Been so busy with the babies that I have little time for other things. May is soooo busy with social commitments that my head spins just thing about them all. Am really looking forward to my trip to Vegas beginning of June.

Had a lovely Mother's Day. No lie in, but breakfast in bed consisting of homemade Belgian waffles with whipped cream and strawberries. Presents from DH and older DCs (shopped for and bought with their own money for the first time!!). Then off to my nieces' Confirmation party (where I proceeded to stuff my face and probably gain back the 5lbs I lost this week )

work Went in to work today to speak with supervisor about transferring to a different position. Would still be working full time, but better hours and NO NIGHT SHIFTS!! He was able to help me with my resume and write a very nice recommendation letter for me. He even offered to help with the interview process. Even though its just a transfer, the interview is very tough as its scenario-based questions they will be asking. And seeing as I havent been in a 'work' frame of mind in the last few years, I am feeling quite rusty. If I get the job, I will most like have to return to work sooner than anticipated, but it will be best in the long run. The position is good for 2 or 3 years. If DH switches to working nights, we wont need nursery or a sitter for any of the DCs. That means saving a tonne of money! Keep your fingers crossed for me!!

Tomorrow, DH staying home as we have to go into the city to take DD1 to a specialist appointment. She has a skin disorder called Vitiligo, and her dermatologist wants a second opinion on what to do. So it will take us at least 2 hours to get into downtown Toronto during morning traffic, spend goodness knows how long at the Hospital for Sick Children, then half hour drive home. All with babies in tow. Not really looking forward to it.

Anyway... sorry for the me post. Hope you all had a lovely weekend Will try to catch up better this week.

Inzi - Hope you and baby are doing well and that Dad is starting to feel more like himself.

LLL - Congrats on your land... am very Dont forget to post some pics during the whole process!

FloriaTosca · 10/05/2010 12:08

aaarrgghhh just wrote a long appologetic post and managed to lose it!!!!!

quick precis;
Inzi. I'm sorry I haven't been here for you while you have been going through all this. I hope you are resting properly and baby George is just fine and sincerely hope your Dad is becoming more himself...his heart prob sounds very like my Dads', he had a quadruple bypass and it gave us 15 more years.... but in my totally non medical opinion your Dads irrational behaviour sounds a bit like my Dads behaviour when his lung cancer caused him oxygen deprivation or like post traumatic stress disorder (I have been reading too many WW1 stories recently obviously). I hope his Gp can help and that you are listening to some really happy making music to take your mind off the stress going on around you.

BB4; I'm in awe of your weight loss and all the running you do. I hope the hosp trip goes as smoothly as possible today and fingers crossed that the job transfer interview works out (sounds like a prefect scenario for you all).Lol at the cruel cat owner label...if she wasn't happy outside she would have packed her bags and gone; my Aunt was "adopted" by a neighbours cat (after they had a baby and disrupted her quiet life) and Dhs pal restricted their cats to the conservatory when their daughter developed and allergy to them, the cats found themselves new homes within 6 months.

Choc. I'm glad you have got rid of the impulse to get a dog...not ideal if you don't really like 'em I hope the uti is better now.

LLL congratulations on the land and new home I hope it all goes according to plan. also your meetup with WWAJC Have a fab time both of you.

WWAJC; Well done on getting the heat saving film up and double well done on getting a good mark on your exam. I'm glad Anya is settling well in nursery and hope the drop off gets easier soon. Have a fab time in Derbyshire.

Dal; glad to read on FB that you are starting to get some really decent nights so soon. I hope the weigh in went well. Love Darrahs new bed and bedding..we have the same TTTE one for Alex on his Little Tykes TTTE bed he loves them too.

NC; I sooo wish I lived close enough to take Shannon off your hands for a day. I hope the assignments are going more easily than you anticipated...you are doing brilliantly juggling all your roles in life and just think summer will soon be here and most of the pressure will be off so you can recharge your batteries and regain your equilibrium..

Alice; I hope your sil is recovering and will soon be home from the unit.... also hope your friends are managing to come to terms with their tragic loss and that you have managed to express your sympathy.

Must go and chase up my builder who hasnt turned up again (didnt come on Fri because his puppy was sick...I'd have more sympathy if he hadn't left the gate to my dogs' area open and let Thane go missing for 40 mins on Weds)

Oh My Inzi - what a load of bad luck you have had. Hope things start looking up soon, and you are all on the road to recovery again even sooner. x

Regards the dog, it will be only allowed in the kitchen, utility and hallway, and I only want a small one too. I just think it will get me out walking more and will be some company when the boys are in school. :-)

Babyblue - wow on a 5lb loss, I got depressed on saturday morning and ended up ruining what might eventually have been a good result. I did 6 hours on the Cross trainer last week, and was pretty good on the food front. Weighed myself on saturday morning and was two and a half pound heavier than the week before So ended up stuffing myself on saturday at a BBQ and drank a bottle of wine. Then carried on being bad on the Sunday too.

Back to it today, I am going to be saintly :D

Will try and catch up a bit more tomorrow, am knackered so off to bed shortly xx

Hello to everyone else.

FloriaTosca · 11/05/2010 12:01

Flipping 'eck Inzi!!!!!!! That must surely be the end of the run of ill fortune. I do hope that Jane is better today and you have managed to change the flavour of her abs (idiot pharmacist)and that you are feeling less under the weather too. I'm so glad the scan shows that George is ok and hope that your Dads hernia keeps him rested a bit longer as surely the bed rest can do nothing but good?(every cloud eh?)though I do think that a home visit from the GP would do no harm either (though if it will agitate him again then perhaps not).

LLL. We try to do similar restictions with our dog...mostly. If you would like any insight into any breed give me a bell...I've trained most of them. Forgive me if it is something you know to do anyway but when you have chosen a breed you think might be good for you I usually reccommend spending a day at breeders kennel to see a lot of them, see how much grooming, excersise, training is required (and how the rest of the family react too).

Right Ladies I'm going to contact you all on FB as we dont want to be discussing too much in a public forum (the new FB and Tweet buttons have made me a sadly more aware of how un-private we are ) but I want to invite you all round for a BBQ. I sooooo hope some of you will be up for it.

Hello lovely ladies - haven't caught up with all your posts but see from the last couple that inzi is having a tough time (is your dad ill?) so wanted to send my hugs...

Just want to say that I think of you all often and have fallen into my usual cycle of leaving it too long and then it taking too long to catch up. Will try and do better!

Lots of love to all of you xxx

NeedCoffee · 11/05/2010 20:01

OOoooh am a bit overwhelmed at trying to catch up with everyone!

LLL-So of you but so pleased for you too, can't wait to see pics of the development.

BB-Can't believe you're thinking of going back to work, will you ever see DH? How was the hospital trip for dd?

WWAJC-Fantastic news on the exam, well done you Have a lovely holiday.

Inzi-So happy that George is healthy, how are you feeling now?

Choc-How you feeling now? Is it this fri that you're at GPs or last fri?

I hate that some of you are struggling and I can't do anything to help, we all need to try and get back on to chat you know.

News from me, as I said earlier I've got a job interview tomorrow, 16 hours at an office equipment place as an accounts assistant, I have also been contacted by a haulage firm looking for an accounts person, but they want someone full time which I just don't think I'm capable of doing with the kids and the FD next year, een though I'll be giving up the Accounts course. The bloke seemed really eager and said would I consider it if he found someone to job share with me. Crazy, especially when I've been out of a work environment for such a long time, but I was very honest with them. I have SAGE accounts which they require but I haven't got a clue about them at the moment, so I'll just have to be honest at the interview and say it's something that I would have to get back in to.

Anyway-had a drink on Sat, didn't even drink that much but was in a state again and somehow got a black eye It looks awful, think i fell off the toilet onto the sink, such an idiot! Hopefully will be able to cover it up for the interview.

Shannon has been off coulour the last couple of days, she's been really clingy and has been falling asleep at tea time, she's been pretty hot too. Just having to give her calpol and hope she's better tomorrow.

Right back to pulling my hair out with human resources and the impact of equal opportunity and human rights.
