Ok so a pretty boring thread title but thought we needed some distance from the last one!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
LisaLessLumpy · 13/02/2010 13:09

alice - glad you are all on the mend now. I have had another cough all week, a chesty one this time though, instead of the tickly one I had over xmas

babyblue - I think you are wonderwoman, 4 children, creative, good career and I looked at your pictures of the pole dancing wowsers, well done

Dal - hope all is well in the household now Did you manage to get your bag packed?

Well DH had the day off work yesterday first time ever in the week, just to have a family day as Sam had his half term this week. So we all went to Splash Landings at Alton Towers, had a great time.

Ben adores the water and is totally fearless. He was going down the big covered slides with DH and in the kiddies part we couldn't get him off the water slide, coming down on his own and then immediately walking round to go back up again. Telling us to move away from the bottom as he didn't want catching. At one point a bigger boy came down head first on his front, so Ben copied him, only did it once though, think the face full of water stopped him doing it again

At one point he fell over in the water and went under, DH was right behind him to scoop him up, but it shocked him a bit and we had full on tears, I was scared it was going to put him off, but no, he was fine in a couple of minutes

Sam on the other hand is such a wuss he wouldn't even come down the baby slide on his own, Ben has certainly put him to shame

We are having a lazy day today so far and just doing bits and bobs that have needed doing but never get around to doing. I'm still in my PJ's so am about to go and get dressed and DH has been to M&S this morning and got the £20 deal for dinner tonight, yum yum. And DH is off out this afternoon to do the weekly shop bless him, a good job to save me doing

I tried Ben on the potty this morning, he did the tiniest dribble which I applauded/praised etc and I also put him in big boy pants and joggers, but he wet them 20 mins after the dribble on the potty. I asked him if he wanted some more pants on but he started to get upset at the idea so have put a nappy back on him.

I think I will try a bit every day to get him used to it and then do full on potty training in the Summer, although no time is really good as we are off on a ferry and long car drive in August so he really needs to be dry by then, plus he has to be dry before September and starting at the new nursery, otherwise they won't take him. I did think about doing it in the Easter hols but not sure if it is too soon if he is really not interested in any way. decisions decisions.

Anyhoo, hope all you lovely ladies have a good weekend and hello to everyone else xx

NeedCoffee · 13/02/2010 14:26

Hi everyone

BB-Oh how I wish you hadn't posted the link to them sweets!! I spent ages last night drooling over them, will definately have to make and eat some of them! Poledancing?! Will investigate your pics more after here

Alice-Hello! Sorry to hear you've all been ill, hope it's all cleared up now and not left any lasting effects. Party sounds fab, what a good idea.

LLL-I love waterparks, especially Alton Towers one, I prefer going without the kid's though makes it easier to race-- to the front of the queue Awwww poor Sam being shown up by his younger brother

Dal-Don't think I like champagne anyway but at least I've made an effort, haven't got him a card though, will preint one off on the comp, hh's not that bothered about cards so it will at least be a gesture.

Hi FT and everyone else I've missed, I wish I'd used sign languagew and gotten a book. I did do a few ones that I learnt off Mister Tumble but didn't persue it.

Well as you can all probably see from FB, we've had an eventful day. Got up, was making breakfast, Shannon wanted her blanket, so I told her to go and get it, meaning the one on the couch, heard her going upstair, called to her that it was on the couch, started to go get her down and heard a thud and screaming-She'd fallen down stairs, landed on the laminate on her back not sure how far she'd fallen.

She screamed for a bit but no blood or bumps, asked for her bottle which I'm trying to get her off in a morning so I only gave her 4oz but then she started falling asleep-I thought it was now okay to let them sleep after a bang to the head but I thought I'd better ring NHS direct up to check, anyway she vomitted whilst I was on the phone to them so they sent an ambulance.

Couple of hours in casualty and they gave her the all clear and said it is okay to let them sleep afterwards aslong as they've been responsive after the incident and to just keep an eye on them. She's okay, just a bit whiny but say's her head doesn't hurt anymore. I did start panicking inside when she was sleeping and being sick though. Yet again a day of Dora for her and college work for me has flown out the window!

NeedCoffee · 13/02/2010 14:28

oops meant to say I hope your cough clears up soon LLL.

LisaLessLumpy · 13/02/2010 16:37

NC - Glad all is well with Shannon

muppetgirl · 14/02/2010 10:35

Hi all
been a bit awol lately and will catch up during today so will reply to all later xx

Ollie is tired again and dh took him to the drs (well, the nurse you don't see a dr in our place unless they think you are ill enough) the nurse said that as he was exhibiting some of the same symptoms of the Glandular so it may have come back. School is constantly saying how tired he is, he has an infection in his nose and looks like impetigo (the nurse doesn't think so but we had this last time and when we finally got to see a dr she said it was, gave us the right cream and it cleared up within 2 days...) his glands are also up and he looks so plae he's almost green sometimes. Apparently it can come back up to 2-3 years but hopefully the episode (is that the right word?) should be shorter.

Henry is fine, we toook them all swimming yesterday and it was greatfun. Henry was shouting 'I've got pants on!!!!' (swim nappy) and Oliver did the most enormous fart in the changing room we hid for a while before coming out!

Dh didn't buy a card today as he thought it was next week despite him saying this in the week and me telling him it was this weekend. I think if I had 'Barcap' tatooed on my forehead he would be more attentive as he's going through a long interview process and his head as all over the place as he really wants the job.

I'll reply to all later
xxx

WhiteWineAndJaffaCakes · 14/02/2010 18:14

Muppet - the photos of Stan are great - he looks like he's having a whale of a time. Glad Toby's christening was such a great day. Hope Ollie's not ill for long and that it doesn't affect him too severely. Good luck for dh with his job interview.

Inzi - sorry lunch last week was so difficult, especially that your sister was insensitive - at her expecting an apology. I hope your email back made her realise what she's been like and that you get back on good terms soon. Good that your sickness has eased off a bit - must be a big relief, although about headaches. Keeping everything crossed for your scan tomorrow.

FT - well done to Alex going to the potty by himself. at him only wanting to cuddle daddy! Good news about the free advanced signing class. Loving the cute moments from Alex. Would be great if you could get both the car and the house bits - hope you manage to come to arrangements that work.

Lisa - Anya's the same with potty training - she's asked to use it once but then got off again complaining it was too cold. . I'm not even thinking about it tbh until things have settled down at home - there's just no point while there's disruption or tension going on. Sounds like you've had a very busy week, all lovely socialising! - is Sam back at school tomorrow? Brilliant that Ben is so comfortable in the water - maybe Sam will get more confident if he sees Ben doing lots of things.

Babyblue - hope you are having a lovely Valentine's day - I love going out for breakfast/brunch, it's such a treat. Lol at 'avocado' - that's a brilliant random word.

Dal - lol at Dylan throwing his doll in the stroller head first. At least he's giving it a hug first! Glad you made up with dh after your argument and that you got some painting done. (FT - lol at you demonstrating what shouting sounds like!)

NC - How scary for you after Shannon's fall - glad she was ok. that price of champagne and glasses has gone up from £3 to £12 for Valentine's day - that's outrageous! At least I get to save some money this year .

Alice - Glad the dinner party and Sam's birthday all went well. Glad too that you are all feeling better after your bug - at least you avoided all getting it at the same time.

The latest here - Ikea are delivering next Saturday so H will be moving out then. I've got my car - a 2008 Corsa, which is very nice. I've booked the week after next off work because of York on the Thursday and Anya's got a ENT check-up on the Tuesday. It's a coincidence that it's the week following H moving out but that's worked out well as it will give me a break to get my head together and try and establish new routines etc.

Anya's been exhausting today (though my PMT's not helping!) - every time I've done something or gone to fetch something she's burst into tears and screamed 'Anya do it'. Hopefully this isn't going to develop into a full blown tantrum stage.

Cute moment from her though - she'd got so many sticky fingerprints on her Peppa Pig dvd that it wouldn't play so I cleaned it and put it back in the machine. 'Is that better?' I asked. 'Yay' said Anya, clapping, 'well done mummy!'

Muppet-Sorry to hear about Olly being poorly again, it must be so worrying for you. Fingers crossed that he improves speedily. at the farting.

WWaJC-Seems to have all panned out not too badly then. How you feeling about it all? nice @ new car Rich has been looking at tradinbg his heap of junk in for a new car as it is costing so much money, it's costing him a fortune trying to find out what is wrong with it, drinking loads of petrol and sounds like a tractor, but it is a couple of months off the scrappage scheme incentive cut off and he's still paying off a loan from the car before this one so he's going to have to try and repair it.
Awww at 'well done mummy' I get 'you did it mummy!

Inzi-Hope all goes well this afternoon. I'm sure everything will be fine with all the sickness you've had, and it should be easing off around now anyway shouldn't it LOL @ Jane being a little madam with her hands on hips. Sympethies with all the other stuff though, Shannon can be so adorable and then flip to the monster from Hell. We had her with us to lunch yesterday, and I realised that she is essentially an only child on a weekend as DD1 goes to her DFs and she seems to think she is higher in the pecking order than DD1, need to nip that in the bud and make sure they both realise that I am boss!

Had quite a nice day yesterday, Rich stayed on the sat night, let me lay in till 9, and had got me a few things including a DAB radio. I gave him his champagne and glasses but forgot to print him a card off Ah well, we had a nice day out in Lincoln and I bought him lunch at a pub called 'Nosey Parkers'. Started with headache on the left side and numb face again yesterday, it's so annoyin g when I have things to do.

Dalrymps · 15/02/2010 11:42

Morning ladies,

Just popping in to say Inzi - Good luck with the scan I too got anxious just before and questioned the strength of my symptoms, sure everything will be absolutely fine though!

Back later to catch up properly, off to make lunch now... Hi to all x

Welcome BelgianMummy. Lovely to see a new face....congratulations on the pg.one of our year of the pig (hence the thread title) ladies 'Dal' is due a year of the tiger baby just before you (I think)

I have 1 DS, Alexander, born 26th Sept (he was due 5th Oct and I wasn't leaving this group just because the Drs insisted on inducing me )We live just north of Manchester but there are a few of us that live nearer to you.

Inzi; yes, please let us know asap. and join the "who abducted my gorgeous child and left a monster" club...2 weeks now...horrible screaming tempers, pushing other children, refusal to share toys...don't know where it came from[shakes head in despair]...mantra;"it is a stage, it will pass"x 100

WWAJC; lol at "well done mummy"! I'm glad things are getting sorted and you have that time off work to get settled into your new life (((hugs))) no matter how much you want it, it is sure to be a wrench as well as a relief. Looking forward to seeing you on the 25th...want to car share?

Alice; glad the dinner party and Sams birthday went well..but sorry you have all been ill...hope you are all totally recovered now and looking forward to seeing you too.

oops got to go...hi everyone else...back later

NeedCoffee · 15/02/2010 16:23

Fantastic news Inzi Baby is due the day before my birthday.

Ft-and everyone else doing the 25th, was it decided where we are meeting? I can't remember. The choices(I think) are here

Anyone else already fed up of half term?

LisaLessLumpy · 15/02/2010 17:02

Hi BelgianMummy, welcome to our little group

I have two boys, Sam who will be 5 in June and Ben who was born 5th October. I am very lucky and have two very well behaved children. Ben hasn't really hit the terrible twos yet, he doesn't really have tantrums will just sulk a little bit, but soon comes out of it. I live in Derbyshire

Oh and you and Dal are both due at the same time then, wonder who will be first

Inzi - glad all went well, am excited for you and lol at Jane, cheeky madam indeed

WWAJC - glad things are starting to come good for you, onwards and upwards

NeedCoffee - Sam had his half term last week, back to school today thankfully

BelgianMummy · 16/02/2010 11:29
  • thanks everyone

I am sure Dal will go first. I went 10 days over with my little girl so am not expecting an early arrival.

Inzi - congratulations!!

EvaLongoria · 16/02/2010 22:38

Alice glad all of you are getting better. Its this horrible cold weather. I am surprised that I havent been ill yet.

LLL - good luck with trying Ben on the potty. Hope you manage to succeed and getting him potty trained. I am also hoping to start Aaliyah soon. She is hopefully starting nursery in April and I want her trained by then but I know that not one school or nursery can turn a child away because they still wear nappies. ( I was a childminder and we were told that) but I want her trained. Bought her a potty back in August because she has been dry for ages but because of all the things that happened since August I could not deal with having to potty train as well.

NC Glad all is well with Shannon.... I would have panicked as well especially after she was sick as well and good on them to send out ambulance immediately. About meetup, York is just a little too far for us and I dont drive as well. Maybe next time. Also I have college on Thursdays.

muppet saw the pics of Toby's christening and you guys are look fab. Looks like it was a great day. Hope Ollie is ok.

WWAJC Hope all goes well with H's move, for me that was the worst day when H moved out because that meant it was the end. I could not stop crying. Good on you to have a week off. If you wanna chat let me know.

Hi BelgianMummy, welcome... I have one DD Aaliyah born 28/10/07. This is a lovely friendly bunch. I am also a late joiner.

Inzi Big Congrats on the little one. Very exciting

So whats been happening on my side. - Last week the weekend before my assignment due date... I was totally stressed out because of time and having to finish 2 assignments. I actually managed to sit from Saturday morning until Sunday 3pm working on my website without sleeping. Then set my alarm for an hour and woke at 4pm and work right through to Sunday 3:30am, set my alarm for 6am but only woke at 9am. Had to because messed up my website in the middle of the night just after major changes and even the backup I had was not the recent one. I then had to almost redo a whole site throughout the night. Got up and got ready for college and was there until 9pm. Then took a friend to Nando's because she was so good to me and waited until I was ready at 9pm and she dropped me off just before 12pm. Then got home cleaned my room and then H called. We had a 2 hour talk discussing everything. And he wants us to try again. He's busy getting off the weed. Only 2 weeks now but he is actively doing something and want to change. I am not going to allow him to move back in until I can see after several months that he has managed to change his ways towards me and my DD, his parents and sisters. because he has been treating us all really badly. And I can say no and say I dont want him back but I do love him and dont want anyone else. I just cant live with someone that smokes weed and make that control him and therefore majes our life miserable and work "late" all the time. So this is going to be a start for us to maybe get back together. He has done pretty horrible things but I can forgive in time if I can see that he wants our family. And if it doesnt work out again I can then one day look into my daughter's eyes and tell her that her mommy tried everything and that there is only so much one can take. So this time I am doing it for me and her. We must be happy. And not just a week or a month but he must demonstrate that we are his world. Is that wrong of me or does that show I am a big pushover!

Aaliyah has been doing really great, its exactly 3 weeks today that she has been sleeping in her own bed. So normal routine, and after 2 stories she tells me "Mommy, go away" meaning she wants to fall asleep on her own. Only thing is she now started waking up at night but more so because she was so used to sleeping next to us and if she moved around we always comforted her. And now that she is in her own bed she tries and reach out and we not there. (She is however in my bed, just got her as she has a really really bad cough and she is fast asleep but cries when she cough)

Sorry for anyone else that i have missed

babyblue4 · 17/02/2010 04:20

Hello All

WWAJC Hope all goes well with moving day. Some time off will give you time to adjust to your new life. Its not easy... I see what my sister went through with 2 LOs. Her ex is actually getting married again next week (their divorce was official only this past summer).

NC Glad Shannon is ok. I would have been in a panic had that happened to me. DH tells me I get softer with each child I have!! LOL. Still... was better to be safe and let her be checked by the doc, rather than worry about her and keep her home.

Inzi Glad the scan went well. The FB pic is wonderful!! Now at least you can let go of some of your worry. Will you find out the sex at a future scan??

Lisa LOL at the re poledancing. It was a lot of fun, and kept me in wonderful shape. I haven't been to a class since Marco was born, since it requires a lot of abdominal strength, and at 6 months post-partum, I am just not there yet!

Had a wonderful time at the waterpark with my family. The first day was a bit stressful, since the DCs were just so hyper to be there. That night was a disaster. Sofia was soooo wired, she didn't go to sleep until almost 1am... and that was forced. Not to mention Marco was up every 2 hours as well. Then Sofia fell out of bed at around 4am... all in all, I got noooo sleep!! DH and I, and the 2 babies fell asleep at the waterpark on the second day, while the older 2 went about their business on the slides! LOL. At least I felt better after the nap!

So I am sure some of you saw my Valentine's surprise?? I came home from breakfast at the restaurant to find a dead raccoon laying under DHs car! Ewwwww!!! Its eyes were open and everything! We have a ravine nearby, so lots of wildlife... but this was a first!!

Hellllllloooooooooooooo everyone

Eva-I completely understand why you are giving DH this last chance, it comes across in your posts how much you love him and I'm glad he's making an effort. I really hope he does stay of the weed, I hate the stuff with a passion, DD1s father did and does smoke it and is a bum and a twat. You know where we are if you want to chat How you getting on with the assignment's? How many left before you finish? I've got 4 to do by May now, am struggling to find any time to do it, the only time I get without the girls is when I'm in lectures, we're also doing a finance one when I'm doing accounting in my other class so may not go to that one anymore!

Inzi-Great news about your sister Richs mate lives in Scotland and they're not allowed to find out the sex, thought it was all of Scotland that they wouldn't tell you. She lives Aberdeen so may be different to you.

BB-I also, am very jealous of the water park. Eughhh at the Racoon, how weird that it was just there. Do you think it maybe ran there after being run over or someone put it there?

LLL-Are you coming to the meet up and bringing cakes? Only kidding.
Where is everyone?

Am having problems with DD1 atm, briefly -have tried putting a stop to her dad taking her to the pub every weekend, he has her Fri after school to Sun night and makes at least one visit to the pub, usually 2, it's a real dump as well and they still smoke in there, full of deadhead's. I said if he carries on then she will not be staying over on the night's, and he has gone against me, took and took her in under the guise of his mate popping in and it wasn't for long bla bla as if I am stupid and he tries to get DD to lie to me. The second thing is that I think DD has some element of something possibly ADHD or something along them lines. It's not real noticable to people that don't know her so I am reluctant to see GP about it as I don't want to be seen as one of them mother's iyswim. She seems to thrive on peoples unhappiness, has an opinion on everything, listens to peoples conversations and repeats it usually wrongly and is really attention seeking with people.(just like her paternal Grandmother actually) I don't know how to explain it properly. Not sure if it's normal child behaviour or if there is something. I think I will try and speak to her teacher and see what he/the school think. Any comments or suggestions will be gratefully recieved on both matters, even if they're harsh

Oh also, I've got a gynae appointment tomorrow as a result of the dodgy cells after the op so will hopefully get more info about it all.

LisaLessLumpy · 17/02/2010 20:40

Eva - blimey, I don't know how you managed to do all that work with so little sleep, but glad you managed it all the same.

Hope you reach a satisfactory conclusion with your husband, I truly hope he sorts himself out and you can get back on track. I'm not sure I could forgive him though, so all credit to you if you can work it out. And no, I don't think you would look like a pushover

Good news with Aaliyah and her bed, how do you think she is doing with everything that has gone on?

BabyBlue4 Glad you had a good time at the Waterpark, not so good with lack of sleep though And eeww at the dead racoon, are they edible?

Inzi Glad to hear you have sorted things out with your sister

Well I tried to get Ben on the potty again today but he didn't want to... he wanted to go on the toilet instead it was the tiniest dribble but a good start. And then tonight he asked to try again, on the toilet and he did a proper wee Then he got all excited when I was praising and clapping him hopefully is the the start of it

NeedCoffee · 17/02/2010 20:45

aww Lisa that is great about potty, hope it continues. Shannon is really good with it now, she told me she didn't want her nappy on for bed so I told her that when she can wake up to go for a wee in the night then she doesn't have to wear one.

Meant to say earlier, Shannon's new phase is 'he scares me'

My Dad who is tall, wide and hairy -'No kiss Gandad, he scares me.'

Man on bus trying to help her off- 'arghhhh, he scares me!'

Me holding her down an alley to have a wee when we got caught short-'It scares me' (the noise from the traffic.) And she can't have been caught that short as she didn't go, think she got stage fright.

LisaLessLumpy · 17/02/2010 20:48

X posted with you NC - No, I can't make the meet up I'm afraid, although I would bring cakes if I could

If you have any concerns about your DD do not hesitate in asking someone about it. Other than that I don't really know what to suggest, but I would say that you need to try and stop the pub visits, its just not healthy.

Hope your appt goes well tomorrow xx

NeedCoffee · 17/02/2010 21:02

Aw that's a shame about you not managing to make it LLL. Thank's re the advice, like I say it's not even a pleasant pub to be in, it's notorious for being full of idiots and a lot of taxi's even refuse to pick up from there.
