Gladioli that house is lush, a lovely fixer-upper. But I agree that you'd be mad to trade after doing all that work on your own.

miamla congrats, in one day you've managed to get further with your wedding plans than we have in five months Today has been crap and frustrating in every respect other than DS, who continues gorgeous.

Having said that, this week he's been very reluctant to fall asleep - every night apart from Tuesday's napless mania there's been at least 40 minutes of tossing and turning, flumping and grumping before he finally drops off (during which one of us has to be in the room with him or else he goes mental). Not sure whether this is just a phase or if he's genuinely not tired when we put him to bed. I guess I'll have to watch and wait to see if anything changes. Once he's asleep he's been really good and generally sleeping through, but I remember how frustrating it was being sent to bed when I wasn't sleepy.

On the other hand it could just be a developmental spurt - he is eating for Britain. Today at nursery he had two lunches and all his pudding, the greedy gannet. Maybe tomorrow he'll wake up talking like Lord Peter Whimsy

cyteen i work better with a deadline! we've been engaged since 1/1/08 so if you take that into account, i'm doing badly!

I find DS alot easier to put down for a nap/sleep at night, when i've asked him if he's sleepy. If he isn't, he ignores me and carries on playing/causing chaos. If he is, he'll run over to me, put his head on my shoulder and melt into me

cyteen · 15/01/2010 20:45

Ah. DS meets all requests and enquiries with a blank stare and a continuation of hostilities festivities, so that's out I'm afraid.

Cyteen my DS is still fairly gormless in comparison to some of these other lads He is just starting to properly communicate some things, like if he wants some milk or whatever it is you're eating but this is pretty recent. He has actually just learnt what coat and boots mean and will squeal excitedly and try and put them on if you mention either word!

Two tickets purchased for tonight's £50 million Euromillions lottery so keep those fingers crossed ladies

I'm a little bit worried about DS' weight actually, he has always been a porker and hugged the 98th percentile for weight but at his last weigh in he is off the scale by abouyt a kilo no wonder it's tricky to pick him up Not sure what to do really, they eat reasonably healthily - there is not too much cake/biscuits around since I got back on the HotMama wagon. Suppose I need to make him walk everywhere and see what that does...

I must admit it is a big relief having a lardy boy now I am not so fat, I don't feel like people will be judging me as much as they would have if I was still fat

I am glad you made me think about DD though. She hugged the 50th percentile until she was weaned at 6 months, at which point she shot up to 91st and stayed there, although she is still solid she is not at all fat and I can see all her ribs. She is very tall and is going to have a fabulous figure whereas poor DS has inherited my short legs and will end up shorter than his body proportions would imply, Rugby for him then!

You feel my pain too then matey as if I had the right length legs to match my body I would be around 5' 10"

hotterpotter · 15/01/2010 22:27

Although I am not a total freak and do have arms that go all the way down to the end of my sleeves...

Hots your DS looks pretty lovely to me, sure Sazzles is right and he will come in line with the charts () v. soon. Was chatting about this today actually, one of the girls in our NCT group who was born May 08 is already looking much taller and slimmer, more of a child shape than toddler IYSWIM. Anyway good luck on the lottery, heard a very sweet programme about the people who answer the phone to those who have won, lots of nice stories about people winning at just the time they most needed it etc.

DD's cutest moment today was doing (a version of!) the hokey cokey by herself in a corner. She often comes and asks for a song and then joins in but I've never caught her singing/doing actions of her own accord before. She was so chuffed when I recognised what she was doing though

pertelote · 15/01/2010 22:44

Surely because you are so nice and tall, Sazz, in contrast to me who is so short my bra basically does up an inch above my waist, you have much further to reach, no? (Does that make any sense at all?! )

Must go to bed, the news is heartbreaking and I promised DH I'd help hang the laundry but I suspect he has done it all (romantic, n'est-ce pas?!)

Awww at the hokey-cokey, that is so cute DS has his own special song at nursery, when they play it he always gets up and starts dancing except when I am watching, of course

DP is off to do his gig in Germany tomorrow so I'll be single-parenting for most of the weekend. I wish I could be there, from what I've heard of him practising it sounds fantastic! He is quite stressed though after a shit day at work so I'm nervous hoping it will go well.

You are above average sazz and that's what counts

thanks for your kind words pert and ta for reminder re washing - mine is in the machine awaiting draping over the radiators

cyteen · 15/01/2010 22:57

Oh, meant to say re. lengthening toddlers: my friend's boy who was born in July 08 has totally become a little boy over the past month or so, shapewise anyway. They're changing so fast Must be time to have another one

Cyteen you need some more driving lessons then pass your test, then next time you can come and stay at MINE one of our houses. We could get drunk and listen to Nina

lwfhthevampireslayer · 15/01/2010 23:31

ah RedLentil please tell your DD1 that here in Argentina (which is a big country in South America) we use bathrooms and toilets just like in England. oops or QOD may be able to help with what happens in South Africa

miamla so exciting re: wedding.

My advice would be if you have people who are coming alone and won't know anyone then give them a job to keep them busy during the day so as not to feel left out.

hotterpotter · 15/01/2010 23:32

C'mon someone I am the last poster on all 3 threads I have recently posted on and it's making me look like a saddo thread killer. Someone post please
