You work fast!! CONGRATULATIONS you are getting married!

Miamla · 15/01/2010 09:45

got to! got to! there's a baby on her/his way!
seriously though, we've been talking about it since pre-DS. we've manage to save a bit of money so why not?

i've been slowed down a little though, guy for entertainment isn't available at the moment...watch this space though!

just told DP i'd booked the registrar and he asked if we should get the venue sorted today as well. erm yes, already done that!

poppysocks · 15/01/2010 09:49

Wow miamla! How exciting! Talk about a woman on a mission. Easter weekend sounds like a fab time for a wedding as everyone has that bit more time off to recover from the party focus on the wonder of your union. DD2's godmother is also getting married that day.

Yes, secret santa pressie v. lovely thank you cc . I did put a cryptic thank you on here at that time but I wasn't sure I was supposed to have opened it early or outed you . DDs enjoying it too, having commandeered the bag for the storage of all manner of toddler 'treasure'.

Really grim, grey, drizzly day here. [boring]. Rather excited however, at DD2's sudden leap forward in her language. She will now repeat pretty much any word you give her accurately and accompanies the word, when a noun, with an accurate point. V. sweet to see her pointing at each of us and saying our names and then pointing at her chest and saying 'Emmy'. DD1 keeps trying to confuse her with tricky/random words which she deals with remarkably well, although pyjamas, breakfast and trousers are proving a bit of a tongue-twister, but tbh the latter two are still for DD1.

Grin
Miamla · 15/01/2010 10:00

woman on a mission? me? erm yes! you could say that! i haven't booked anything else since 9.30 though!

oh that sounds lovely Poppy! my brother has decided to teach DS how to say 'hippopotamus'

i still don't know who my secret santa was from!!

oopsandbabycoconut · 15/01/2010 10:11

I don't know who mine is from either!!!! [sulk]

Miamla · 15/01/2010 10:12

its not fair, is it?! shall we have a sit down, silent protest?

CaptainCaveman · 15/01/2010 10:21

Well you know I was Poppy's so it can't be me!!

wow miamla that is fast work! Do you need to scour the local area for possible hotels/b&bs for suggestions for your guests? Or is that going a step too far!?

Flowers, cake, hair, make up, photos/video, wedding gift list , choose invites, catering, cars/transport, bridesmaids/ushers, vows.....all things you may wish to consider/dismiss . I love a wedding!

Miamla · 15/01/2010 10:42

ooh CC! that's exactly the kind of list i need! and i'd forgotten all about the present side of it!

yup, good point re getting hotel info

flowers... i've got a supplier's details from the zoo so i guess we'll give them a call but to be honest, flowers not top priority

cake... the mums are making a layer each (they don't know this yet ). Not sure who's going to decorate though

hair.. diy!

make-up... argh guess i could manage a bit of mascara but yes, professional help in this area would be a good idea given how inept i am!

photos.. a couple of friends are semi-prof so i'm hoping one of them can make it

invites... hmm... i guess these should be sorted sooner rather than later!

catering.. we're going for a tasting session at the zoo in a few weeks (depending on when dp gets time off)

cars... not bothered about a fancy one but i guess i need to get there somehow

bridesmaid... all of you lot, obviously But yeah, i guess my sister would be one and erm, not sure who else!

vows... apparently registrar has a few options that we can look at but yeah, would love to write my own.

argh, more to think about than i though!!!!!

dizzydixies · 15/01/2010 12:41

feck, I hate work - what have I missed - what do you need?!?

this is great trial run for how we'll takeover help with Cyteen's too

Miamla · 15/01/2010 12:48

hi dizz, lovely to see you How did your meeting go last night?

RedLentil · 15/01/2010 13:13

Still no hands free to post properly.
I got a white cab to my wedding. V. cheap compared to all the other options and a huge showstopper as we drove through Richmond.

RedLentil · 15/01/2010 13:16

And they do them in Bristol here - I would haggle too. Ours was much cheaper as we only needed an hour (Church was in the grouds of the reception venue)

I'm SO excited. Will put Easter Sat zoo flashmob on the calendar. Shall we all wear hats/fascinators anyway?

Miamla I totally recommend Bristol youth hostel for guests on a budget. Short walk from train station where you can catch the open top bus to the zoo.

Have been to new crafty coffee club at a new bar this morning organised by some friends of mine. I managed to make 1 of my Xmas decs (I have 10 more to do maybe I will finish the project by December.) Kurt was v good but tripped over and bit his lip just before we were leaving, much blood but he'll be fine.

Will try and have a proper talk with DH tonight. Have emailed my old boss in housing for an idea of any temp work available there. Poppy Am actually rubbish at sales, I used to sell real nappies which I was passionate about but I was still crap.

GladioliBuckets · 15/01/2010 13:41

Hotel with fabulous Bristol views.

GladioliBuckets · 15/01/2010 13:43

Hots Is it the tax man you work for? He has a big office in central Southampton.

dizzydixies · 15/01/2010 13:44

miamla - you might get some supplier ideas off here top drawer

glad you like the IO suggestion for the dress

am hopeless till Monday sorry fecking work

GladioliBuckets · 15/01/2010 14:04

Anyone fancy making me a short version of that dress in another colour? It is exactly what I've been looking for to wear to my Greek wedding in May.

dizzydixies · 15/01/2010 14:08

Buckets - I'd offer but you'd probably get a better result if Dylan did it thank you for book btw, arrived today

right ladies off to work till 2am, be gentle with me

RedLentil · 15/01/2010 15:11

Urgent reply needed to dd1's question:

Do people in Africa queue up to watch each other do wees and poos?

and again

hotterpotter · 15/01/2010 15:50

Red you can tell your DD that as the small people in my house seem endlessly fascinated by other people doing wees and poos I am sure it must be the same in Africa

Buckets I don't work for the taxman, I work for the social. Not sure if that's better or worse... After I looked at that house you linked to I was having a browse round houses for sale where I used to live in Bristol. it is soooo expensive (and beautiful). Oh well, there is always the euromillions tonight

If I win it we are ALL going to miamla's wedding

pertelote · 15/01/2010 17:29

Ooo oo oo Miamla! Saturday of Easter weekend is my sort-of wedding anniversary! Actual date was the 7th but I always think of the Saturday as my bonus day I think the zoo is a FANTASTIC idea and if we're really all allowed to come and lurk on the perimeter I would love to join in.

DD is looking at pictures/videos of herself on my camera and somehow she has worked out how to replay the sound on videos! I thought I had a bit of time before her technological expertise overtook mine but apparently not....

Oh and I thought I had dropped a clue but obviously too subtle I was the missing link who received a secret santa gift from one of our mothers-to-be and sent one to the other! (and spookily the two gifts were extremely similar...)

hotterpotter · 15/01/2010 19:07

Just checked flights and if DH decided to surprise me with a birthday trip to Bristol for all the family it would be £366 just for the flights so I don't think he will be doing that...

Miamla · 15/01/2010 19:35

so now oops knows but i still don't!!!!!!!

pert course you're welcome, you'll need a hat/fascinator though! hots will pay for your travel if she wins tonight!
DS better than DP at operating his mobile! He (DS) keeps changing the settings for him

buckets i'd love to but it would have to be made after beginning of april. how about if you haven't found anything by the time i'm married, i'll whip one up for you!

hots just make sure you win that money tonight!!!!

red yes, absolutely!

dizz hope work wasn't/isn't too bad tonight. and thank you for finding my dress for me
