Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Sazzles yes, DH is napping here beside me now. He "offered" to go in earlier but his boss said they had it covered. Honestly it's nicer for his company to bring in an hourly wage person who wants/needs to make more money than to have all their top dogs in the house. If the ice continues he may need to swap out with another manager tomorrow. The roads are looking better but trees and tree limbs are starting to topple from the weight of the ice. That's not good for power lines.

Dizzy I thought you grin from ear to ear about that.

Just waking from a deep sleep. DD1 slept but seems to still be a bit ornery and Reese....well she stinks.

GladioliBuckets · 30/01/2010 21:47

Evening all, I am knackered and stuffed, as usual. DS1's party was surprisingly delightful - 6 little boys (3 with ASDs or similar), 2 smaller brothers, DD and her friend, a few mums and a 35yr old big brother. R2D2 cake will be will be up on FB tomorrow.

Then I saw Terry Pratchett's 'Nation' live link up which was very moving and funny natch, better than the live show I'd guess because we got close ups and aerial shots.

Then I applied for a work-from-home job a friend told me about (being mysterious for the mo on account you are all competition.)

Then me and DH ate 2 massive takeaway pizzas and I am ready to collapse. Diet shmiet.

Speaking of Shameless, did you know that the teenage boy was played by identical twins but one of them went off to be Daz in Emmerdale fulltime. The other was Silent Witness the other night, he was so utterly mesmerising I had to go google him to find all this out.

TS We need to get Howling Mad Murdoch in to drug you and load you into a plane don't we?

Dizzy Ooglies is hilarious, those mean old chocolate fingers! Still not worked out why DS1 cries at the strawberries though.

TwilightSurfer · 30/01/2010 21:53

I do remind myself of BA from time to time. Minus the gold chains. I asked my shrink years ago if he'd be willing to take a flying trip with me to help me overcome my fears. He was like....

TwilightSurfer · 30/01/2010 21:56

Buckets I'm dying to see this R2D2 cake! Researching henna and indigo hair coloring at the moment. Might your work from home thing be medical transcription? I have two friends in the biz. They love the flexibility and the money.

GladioliBuckets · 30/01/2010 22:10

Nope but have looked into that sort of thing, did they have to buy their own fancy shmancy audiotyping equipment?

TwilightSurfer · 30/01/2010 22:15

Nope. Doc picks up any phone and dials a number. Leaves the report on a message system. The system can be accessed by my friends (i've never asked where it really is). Not sure if they access via phone or via computer. Then transcribe the docs notes then click send on their computer. Easy Peasy. They have to be available to transcribe on certain days during certain hours so their is some ball-and-chain to it but not a horrible thing.

TwilightSurfer · 30/01/2010 22:17

as you can see by my last post with all it's grammar and spelling errors...i am not a good candidate for transcribing.

RedLentil · 30/01/2010 22:38

Hey girls.

Bad bad day here, after I discovered Ds had cut a hole in the lovely hoodie he got from my mum for Christmas.

Doing it: bad. Not giving a shit about it when told off. Very bad.

He had to ring my mum to apologise (the woman deserves a place at RADA for her 'not angry just sad' performance).

Then, he had to earn some money to pay for the top by tidying the garden. 20 mins job max, became 2.5 hours on account of pitiful slouching abaout, ignoring threats and encouragment etc.

FEck, feck, feck.

Most upset really about dh doing the 'go to your room' bit and then handing over to me when it was supposed to be my workday.

Parenting is not a popularity contest. If it was I would lose.

As you were.

hotterpotter · 30/01/2010 22:39

TS what do you want to know about henna? I spent quite a lot of years with orange hair thanks to that particular vegetable dye

hotterpotter · 30/01/2010 22:45

Oh Red that is shite No pearls of wisdom I'm afraid as we have yet to reach that stage but I can tell it is just a matter of time... sending you virtual stiff-upper-lip vibes

RedLentil · 30/01/2010 22:50

Thanks Hotter. I think he could have walked away from today thinking I don't like him very much when he is the apple of my eye.

Eating half a tub of ice-cream has not helped me to feel better. It was worth a go though.

Is there a trip to Dublin in the offing?

TwilightSurfer · 30/01/2010 22:56

RED DD1 has been asked five times already to pick up her books and put them back on the shelves in her library. When she asked me if she could play with the neighbor I said yes after the books were put away. When she asked for her Littlest Pet Shop toy from the closet, I said I would get it as soon as the books were put away. The books are still strewn all around her room...she's not played with the neighbor and she's not gotten the toy from the closet. She'd rather do without than spend 5 minutes putting her books away. I COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND HOW YOU FEEL.

HP I want the end result to be a brown thus the mix with Indigo but I am very interested in how it works basically. Did you do it yourself? Did someone else do it for you? How long did it last? Was a "quality" color? Did you have any bad reactions? Positives and Negatives...I'd love to hear it all.

hotterpotter · 30/01/2010 23:01

There was a bit of drunken chat over on the HotMama thread considering a Dublin meetup while Sazz does some cultish swimming thing; if we do it of COURSE we will expect hope for your attendance

You know he knows full well how much you love him. I'm sure he feels he can push it because he knows he is loved. Doesn't help much during an incident though...

HAve had an interesting evening looking through old photos. It's a bit sad really that there are so few of me and my friends as teenagers, but at least the world will be spared the sight of my way cool shite hair

hotterpotter · 30/01/2010 23:07

TS I used to mix my henna with ground coffee to make it go browner. Not actually sure how effective that was but at least it made it smell a bit nicer Basically I used to get the henna powder, mix some coffee in, mix it with water to a sloppy paste then slap it on and rub it in, wrap a plastic bag round my head and leave overnight before rinsing out. It smells a bit composty and can get a bit itchy after a while but does leave your hair in lovely condition. It lasts until it grows out really, and you do have to be careful about dyeing/bleaching it before all the henna'df hair has grown out, which might be a consideration with hair as long as yours

dizzydixies · 30/01/2010 23:10

Hots, very few of me at all as I hate having my photos taken - just as well really

Red, I agree with Hots completely that he's only pushing it because he is so secure in the knoweldge that he IS loved by you and DH. Doesn't make it any easier on you though

DH home, no heating so might just head off to bed in an attempt to warmup

TwilightSurfer · 30/01/2010 23:16

DD1 just came to me all smiles saying she'd finally put all her books away. I asked if she was happy with what she'd done. She replied yes. I asked if I would be happy and she replied yes. I go to look and all the books are piled in one pile on one shelf. NOPE! That's not correct. I asked her if she understood that wasn't correct. She said yes but she wanted it done QUICK. GEEZZ!!!

HP I'm looking at Aveda stuff now. I've also emailed my hair dresser. This is important to me so I'm covering every base. I do like what you said about how your hair felt afterwards. Mine feels like straw after my current hair process. YUK!

Dizzy

I agree with VG we must hold our heads high and take the time to allow lessons to be learned with they present themselves no matter how hard it is for all involved.

had a busy day today running silly errands and being angry mum however I wanted to share one of DD2's antics before I pop off to bed

when heading home the kids decided they wanted to go to the car wash but they like it so we waited patiently with therestofDundee everyone else for our turn

DD2 loves peering out the window and the blokes play up to it skooshing the windows etc etc so I turned round to tell her to stop clapping her hands and ordering the blokes to 'come on man, do it again, do it again' in a rather lady of the manor way only to find that she was sitting there with her pants and trousers round her ankles

needless to say when I asked her why this was I was informed 'because she likes it'

DD1 and I waited until the foamed up the car before Operation knickers & troos back on was hastily put in place and all forms of decency and order restored

night all

RedLentil · 30/01/2010 23:43

VG -thanks so much for that post. It was kind and helpful and spot on. I recognise exactly the kind of process you are talking about.

Just before he went to bed we had a proper friendly chat and he knows I just want him to be the best person he can be. We made plans for a better day tomorrow.

TS - we have tidying like that here too. Bizarrely, dd2 gets very upset about mess and tries to set it right all the time. One tidy child out of three ain't bad.

I will sleep. I will make plans for time out and not working for the first time since 28th December. Perspective will help.

Thanks my dear girls.

RedLentil · 30/01/2010 23:45

Operation knickers & troos

Thanks for sending me to bed laughing Dizzy.

TwilightSurfer · 30/01/2010 23:45

Dizzy not sure what to say to that.

hotterpotter · 30/01/2010 23:55

Dizzy I think your DD2 is the very best of ALL our DC

Off to bed now, night all
