Miamla · 26/01/2010 20:32

wow cyteen, what a lovely way you have of talking about J. You sure save that last para for him for when he's older

soooo tired, been at work today, collected DS,done a supermarket shop, cooked dinner and now i'm spent!

cc and yes, i agree, there is a certain whiff about you

oops thanks for telling me about your cyst, really hoping same happens to mine. Was yours painful?

GladioliBuckets · 26/01/2010 20:35

TS Yikes! No wonder you felt so crap. For (hopefully not) future reference, how did you manage the logistics of getting to hospital btw, did you get an ambulance? Huh? Didja? You didn't take the kids did you? Voila une link on natural remedies for kidney stones btw. (Sorry for sounding so gleeful about your predicament but I truly find it fascinating for some reason. And I like to have little contingency plans worked out in my head for all eventualities eg kidney stones, surprise labour, zombie invasion)

Miamla · 26/01/2010 20:41

blimey TS just been reading about your day! good grief, you poor thing! hope the doc finds a pain-free solution for the remaining two

Miamla - mine hurt and at first I thought DD was in a tube not where she should be - noone believed me I was in pain until I saw the EPU in tears and she said 'ooh, that must hurt!'

TS - Hope you feel better soon {{{HUGS}}}

Dizzy - YAY for all your hard work paying off!

Hi Sazz, Buckets, Loti, Cyteen

hotterpotter · 26/01/2010 21:52

Cyteen you big softy anyway why shouldn't you be besotted by him, he is gorgeous!

Buckets you are so organised

cece pooey

Loti I agree with the others - dress link please

Dizzy ooh good luck for tomorrow

Anyone else there??? Helloooo

Have had a lovely day today, playing out with DS while DD was at nursery. He 'helped' me wash the back door and generally pottered about while I was sweeping and tidying up a bit. I know it's still January and liable to get worse again before spring really arrives but I could smell earth and growth and the birds were singing, was lovely

Have scared myself this evening though thinking about moving house and school for DD. She is due to start in September so obviously we have applied for school here. If we move in the summer it will be a last minute rush to find somewhere, and a lot of the schools in the areas we are looking at were oversubscribed last year, which could mean her being put in a school up to 2 miles away which is OK on the days I am at home as I could drive her but not much fun for them walking on the other days oh it's so complicated!

hotterpotter · 26/01/2010 22:30

Oh sorry did I send you all to sleep with my boring long post , and now it's nearly my bed time

TwilightSurfer · 26/01/2010 23:59

Buckets you make me smile. I did not take an ambulance. I took DH's red sports car and oddly drove the speed limit the whole 25 minute way. I'd resolved in my mind before I'd reached 1 mile from home that my problem was stone related. It was a much easier prognosis to grasp. Although I do still wonder and worry about worse. Fears of cancer flood my mind as I get closer and closer to the age of my mother's first breast cancer diagnosis (45).

As for contingencies, I'd say it's a good idea to have something in place no matter who you are. For safe measure I left both my laptops on my bedside table for DH. Once settled in a room at the hospital I calmly tried to think of who best to call in case he needed to be by my side. My coverage was touch and go plus my Blackberry keypad isn't user friendly so I wrote down names and numbers on a piece of paper, took a picture of the paper with my phone then emailed him the photo. I then texted him my FB password so he could have a quick link to all our friends and their most up to date telephone numbers. Of those friends I remarked which ones could handle the girls on short notice. Thankfully, I had more than a dozen names and numbers so if things had gotten bad he could at least establish a rotation of care.

It was scary to think that maybe something tragic could have happened suddenly to me and he's not up to speed on any of our finances, bills, bank accounts, insurance policies, etc. I have added a mommy-daddy meeting to my to do list. This meeting should cover what is currently in place, where to find things stored away and how would we each prefer everything to go.

Seriously, you never know.

Good luck with preparing for that space invasion. I have always had a mental plan in place for a terrorist invasion. Made it following the release of the movie RED DAWN. Thankfully I've been equipped in my lifetime with a wealth of knowledge to survive a plethora of circumstances.

springaporesling · 27/01/2010 01:03

Wow TS you do sound mighty organised. Hope that you are feeling better now and that you get some good suggestions from the doc re remedies for the other 2 pesky buggers. I have a house file which has all the imortant info in it should DH need or I need it that has bank account number, emergency contact numbers, passport details, a copy of DS immunisation records and that kind of thing.

Sazz hope today and tomorrow go well.

HP don't generally need any assistance going to sleep

Loti picture please...

Do you think MNHQ would consent to some Chinese New Year emoticons? I'm thinking Tiger ones would look pretty good - the decorations went up here as soon as the Christmas ones came down. DS is constantly roaring and syaing tigga tigga when he spots one (more often than I do)

luckoftheirish · 27/01/2010 07:35

GladioliBuckets · 27/01/2010 08:18

Coffee's up. Morning all.

Heheh PF stare time. So who doesn't have wills done yet? Especially important if you hate half your family as there's a chance they might end up with custody of your LO/s! Lucky for me, my sis is the most organised person I know (apart from TS) so I have named her our executor and she can decide what to do in our absence.

Nice dress LOTI but thought it was a 70s party?

Morning all

Sneaking on while I should be working but I am in no fit state after a lateish night then DD up at 5, 5.15, 5.45, 5.55 then me up just after 6 (well actually I closed my eyes and the next thing I knew it was 6.18 I had to run all the way to the station)

Am sticking my fingers in ears re wills as there is no one I would really like to look after the DC if something were to happen to us. Fingers crossed then...

Loti that dress looks fab

Hello to everyone else

Miamla · 27/01/2010 08:47

loti i've just sent that link to my sister as 'the perfect bridesmaid dress'
she meant to be wearing yellow but is complaining she cant find anything!

QueenofDreams · 27/01/2010 08:47

morning ladies.
cyteen It is amazing how you talk about J
Unforyunately S isn't being at all charming this morning. Vile moodiness on his part and tiredness on my part are really not a good combo at all

Hello all.
Things moving along Chez Empire Steaky. I have booked the hall for the first baby sale, thanks Sazz (I think) for that idea, and have my first stall sold. Just need to get nine more parent stalls and I break even and do lots of promoting to make sure lots of people come, sell a couple of trader stalls and put together an advertising pack for local traders. Not much then

I've had my first three craft fairs confirmed - just need to start sewing.

Buckets I have fabric, I have pattern, but am being a bit of a wuss at actually cutting out. But will do tonight.

I also have various other sewing assignments lined up.

Bristol boy and I have re-booked our dinner date for a couple of weeks.

mwah mwah kisses to all you lovely ladies and peas.

TwilightSurfer · 27/01/2010 11:26

Ann I think R is channelling S. Not sure why she's so fussy this morning. She just got out of bed for pete's sake.

Buckets we do NOT have a will. I have formulated all the details IN MY HEAD (good place for them don't you agree). DH & I have discussed some of those details and are in agreement BUT.... Thankfully I may, for my 39th birthday next month, have a sit down with our dear friends, both lawyers...the dh of which is a partner in his dad's firm and handles taxes, family and ESTATE issues primarily. I'm such a control freak I'd never be able to die without knowing I've organized my afterlife issues.

Lucky that is a perfect dress! I can't wait to see if it really shows up in Miamla's wedding too. I think I missed the post about the boots....what will you be wearing???

Dizzy and Steaky have my in awe. I so want to create and do some business of my own. BUT WHAT? Tabling that for now.

Off to the GP at 9 with Reese in tow. She's a might good travel companion. I'm about to take anti-b #3 but still showing signs of infection. I like things to be over QUICK so my worrying mind will stop reeling. This is only 3 of 14 so maybe things were so bad the improvement I want to see won't be until pill 5. I do hope my doc is ready for me because I've got a legal tablet full of questions. surprised? LOL!

luckoftheirish · 27/01/2010 11:36

ts hope reese settles herself.. antibiotics really kick in after 48hrs so hopefully you will be back on track soon..

it is a 70s night BUT i found this in the 70s section of that website so hopefully it will have to do... i also purchased the boots .. IF it fits will take a pic of me in all my gear and let you have a look..

glad i have had some inpiration for you miamla .. happy to pass on the dress and boots for your sis if she would like to try before she buys (or have it as i don't think i will be wearing it again)!!

steaknife · 27/01/2010 16:46

miamla don't get caught out on the Fabric Rehab site IIRC the prices are per fat quater so for 1/4 of a square yard. So you need to times the price by 4.

I hate sites that price by FQ and not by metre or yard. grrrrr.

How has everyones' days been?

TwilightSurfer · 27/01/2010 16:49

Lucky THAT's GREAT! Glad you got the whole ensemble!!

Reese was very good for me after we left the house. I think her sister was contributing to her foul state.

Doc said my tinkle test was clear. He also said the amount of blood I passed (TONS) was normal for passing a kidney stone. He said it's also normal to NOT be in pain but it's rare and that more than likely my feeling of achey flu-ness the week before was really the stone traveling. All in all he said I was lucky and not to worry about what the CT showed (2 more stones) because they may never move. If they do however, I will know and not be fearful.

As for the anti-b's he said there would have been too much blood to get a solid bacteria result and that they were really just precautionary. Captain does that sound right? I only have a few more days so NO HARM.

WOW! Reese's vocab is through the roof. She's talking more and more and more and more. I LOVE watching her GROW!!!!!!

TwilightSurfer · 27/01/2010 16:49

to Steaky. Good thanks. How's yours?

dizzydixies · 27/01/2010 18:12
