Tit's end...had to be done.

Hope this works!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Kayzr · 04/02/2010 12:12

ooooh Rubes you've named my annoying one.

SummerLightning · 04/02/2010 12:14

I think LadyT has basically said who it is in her crossed out writing bit!!!
Or am I wrong?

I am excited. DS just ate a small piece of avocado. He spat most of it out but it is still good. How did my life get so thrilling??

SummerLightning · 04/02/2010 12:18

Oh. My. God. He's eating toast.

Kayzr · 04/02/2010 12:18

Oh yes I have just seen it.

Kayzr · 04/02/2010 12:23

My Dad has just rung. His eye(can't remember which one know) has been hurting so he went to the GP yesterday who did a test for glaucoma and it isn't that. But he has been rushed through to see the eye specialist this afternoon as an emergency patient.

I am really worried now.

katie3677 · 04/02/2010 12:49

Oh yeah,

traceface · 04/02/2010 13:04

kayz sorry about your dad - hope it turns out ok.
I was wondering where turnip had gone. Hope we didn't offend her - that would be horrible.
And you can't just be a private FB group because I'm not on FB so I'd be left out and lonely and miserable
Summer I had a VBAC and have to admit it hasn't turned me into a pro-VBAC campaigner! I said at the time I wish I'd gone for a section and I think I'd still say the same. I had no labour with dd1 (em sect at 30 weeks) so it was a first labour for me. Fab for some - just giving the other side!
And it's snowed again here
P woke up at 10.30, cried for 10 mins then I went in, patted her and she went straight back to sleep, then she slept all the way until 5.45! I did the same and she slept till 7 So why was I lying awake from 4.45? Oh yes because I was fretting about how to parent my children...
Thanks for the reassurance on the Lucy thing. I think because she's the consultant (different lady from the CPN who remains very lovely!) I felt like I have to do as she says, but I guess you guys have, in a way, given me permission to let it go over my head. I know that sounds daft but I guess it's the power big doc v mental patient thing. Anyway the parent support lady is coming back next week, by which time dh and I need to have come up with 3 things which we want to focus on that make life hard with Lu, and some things that we feel we do/ have done well so she can see where our parenting strengths and skills are. She was so good and kind of focused on me as her concern, rather than Lucy, in that she wants me to identify (from her suggestions) what techniques I think I can handle according to how I'm feeling etc. I'm actually looking forward to her coming next week! She said she had asked school how she was there and they sang her praises...kind, happy, very bright, friendly, down to earth...I think she has a personality change when she arrives at school! Sorry to ramble!

traceface · 04/02/2010 13:09

oh and my prediction:

Beans- boy
LadyT - girl
Rubs - boy
SL - girl

Beans33 · 04/02/2010 13:33

I think I'm having a girl. Although it's just probably because I've had one before rather than some intuition or anything!

LadyThompson · 04/02/2010 13:43

Kayz - hope your dad is ok. It's good they are seeing him quickly.

Oh no! It's like Night of the Long Knives! I have unleashed some kind of gossipfest about annoying ex-posters, I am really sorry! I was just being naughty about one poster (at the top of the list, yes) who doesn't post on here anyway and never really did. Can I just say for the record that everyone who posts on here regularly is fab. That is what I think. And 99% of the people who don't post on here regularly are completely fab as well and I wish people wouldn't fret about keeping up and would come in and say hello. Ok, there are two or three others who don't post on here any more who I find moderately irritating (and no I am not naming any more names!) but none of them have ever really posted much on here at all. Can I just clarify I think Lowrib and Pixsix are very nice? And Turnip is a lovely woman, I wish she would come back properly. Please don't lurk, Rubes. Or I will have to keep texting you and would get RSI.

Aubi, I cannot believe it's only your second trip north of Brum I don't care for the sound of your travelling companions though. Still mulling over the hen night!

Effie, I would like to see DP's face if I mentioned Ivo, Ego or Echo He has already energetically baulked at Hugo and Horatio. Listen, I am sorry you had such a horrid, tiring night. And Big Relationship Talks are the Absolute Pits, I am with you there.

Trace, by contrast I think the Parent Support lady sounds like she is speaking sense and coming up with practical strategems.

Beans, as a redundant person I would say think carefully before you ask for it (of course you will): the statutory minimum is only one week's pay for every year you have been there, and you don't want to screw up your maternity pay etc.

DD had her MMR this morn. They told me to be careful of the nappies for 6 weeks as they are live vaccines, and when I mentioned I was pregnant the nurse said be extra careful because of rubella I'm worried now. Anyone know about this? This particular nurse is a bit daft though (shame as the other one at the practice is excellent and it is pot luck which one you get) - I don't trust her expertise.

Beans33 · 04/02/2010 13:49

Ooh, I had an ex whose twin sister was called Echo - always thought it was quite a funky name. He was called Noah, which I also like.

Thanks for tip re redundancy - it would have to be a big old pay off for me to go - it's a v long story and I won't bore you with it, don't worry. But it's just turning into a bit of a farce here and I literally have nothing to do - especially (she says head up her own bum) for a seccy of my calibre. Literally being given scanning and filing. NOT what I want from a job! They're desperately trying to find things for me to do, if they'd just pay me my maternity leave, return to work bonus, a bit extra and my nanny's wages for 2 months, they wouldn't need to worry about me any more. But I can't see them doing it, so I'm not going to ask. But it's so tempting. Thing is, guess I'm only here for 4 more months, but it's pretty painful. am looking into short story writing courses here - any recommendations from the scribes amongst us?

Kayz - try not to worry - eyes are always a priority, which is probably why he's been rushed.

Gosh, I didnt' know that about babypoo after MMR. Hmmm. I am slightly dubious as reckon is would be a bigger warning nationally than that!!

EffiePerine · 04/02/2010 13:55

LadyT: have you had your rubella immunity checked? I was immunised at school but the GP also tested me when I got to 'childbearing age' (this was in London so about 30!) in case I needed a top-up dose. If you're worried you could ask - I think they do a pinprick test or something.

No-one warned me about nappies and the MMR! She did say the reaction would kick in at around 7-10 days though (in case you didn't get that snippet). Must read the leaflet - she popped one into my red book.

I am refusing to name names cos I love you all . I am v slow to take offense though (and to notice any intentional offence tbh - bit slow on the uptake). I remember being terrified/annoyed with one poster yonks ago (not in this thread) but then she recommended a really good CD so I forgave her .

And yes, relationsheeep stuff is horrible. But you have to talk about these things. So I am told . DH and I have an odd dynamic in that I'm usually the one who does the things everyone complains about men (not) doing, like not communicating well and not giving emotional support. It certainly doesn't come easily to me, I have suspected for a long time that I (and about 90% of my extended family) have traits that would put me directly on the high functioning aspergers type rating. So I have to think about the emotional and communicative stuff and learn how to do it 'right' which is v tiring. Odd. At least DH is very good on that side so the DSs can learn from him! Can't say the same about the rest of his family, so will be keeping a strict eye on the DSs. Luckily they both seem pretty sociable so maybe we've skipped that one .

EffiePerine · 04/02/2010 14:00

that last post was pretty garbled and possibly tmi, so feel free to skip over with a 'huh? what is she waffling on about now?'

JumpJockey · 04/02/2010 14:07

MMR - another thing we didn't get warned about was that 7-10 days later dd would get a temperature and a rash and look very much as if she had chickenpox cue me panicking that holiday would be off and we'd infected everyone we'd met for the last week. This is entirely normal, so don't fret!

Beans33 · 04/02/2010 14:07

hee hee - I've checked out a few posts from LadyT's least favourite - all on AIBU sites. I find those absolutely terrifying anyway. I'm quite keen to set up a fake one and watch the vitriol roll in. Perhaps could call it "Am I being unreasonable to think that breastfeeding is unnatural and disgusting" - then watch the hate roll in! Hee hee hee! Although might get some scary stalkers then!!!

Beans33 · 04/02/2010 14:08

PS - hasten to add that COMPLETELY isn't how I feel about BF, it would just get such a hateful reaction!!!

EffiePerine · 04/02/2010 14:15

JJ: I was warned about that one - she said to mark 7-10 days in the calendar so when DS2 went bright red and came out in spots I wouldn't panic!

LadyThompson · 04/02/2010 14:20

No it wasn't! Seemed pretty clear to me Anyway, Effie, it must be rather restful to be the less emoting one of the couple, in a way. Not that I am in any way suggesting that you don't feel, as that puts me in mind of a simply ghastly woman who was a close friend and colleague of DH's, and who hated me with a passion (still does!) When he was ill she said to me "It's ok for you! I feel things so much more deeply than you do!" As I am obviously in a very bitchy frame of mind at the mo I will tell you that this monstrous woman has been interviewed on MN and has got a right panning, she is a self-appointed poetry expert and has put together many bestselling poetry anthologies and she owns a tv company. PLEASE DO NOT PUT HER NAME ON HERE as she is always googling herself and probably has expensive computer programs which zone in on mentions of her on the net!

I was immunised for Rubella at 12, like most people, but what I have only recently discovered is that it doesn't last for the rest of your life, and nor does the tb jab! I am going to take further advice on this live vaccines excreted into nappies lark as six week is rather a long time and I feel at a vulnerable stage of things. Beans, I think you may have a point though that if it was a real danger, surely it would be more widely known about?

Creative writing courses I think are interesting for fun, just be wary of charlatans who take large fees and have ads in the papers that say you can work from home and earn lots of money from writing stories and articles. I am living testament that this isn't the case!

Rubena · 04/02/2010 14:20

oooh Beans I'm going to have a look now!! I'm so bored today - clearly

Beans33 · 04/02/2010 14:24

me too! Bored to tears! Although am off shortly for antenatal appointment with GP - yeehah! Hope the heartbeat's easy to find.

Was going to have swine flu jab, but have chickened out at last minute... Any others going to have it?

EffiePerine · 04/02/2010 14:24

LadyT: good point, think I know who you mean and will not name her but will think daggery evil thoughts in her direction!

Might be an idea to ask your consultant about the rubella if you're worried. Or get DP to do most of the nappies...

Re: creative writing courses, trhey are apparently v good comedy value even if not crucial to your literary development - have heard some hilarious tales from friends who done evening classes in creative writing. Main rule seems to be that there will be at least 1 complete nutter, and if there are two or more one will be the teacher

Beans33 · 04/02/2010 14:26

hah! Maybe I shouldn't bother. I was just hoping to get some tips as have some cracking ideas, just struggle to get them down on paper. Dont' think I have the concentration span!

LadyThompson · 04/02/2010 14:30

I am going to have swine 'flu, yes. I asked about it this morn. And I think Rubes has already had it.

Kayzr · 04/02/2010 14:35

DS2 has just taken another couple of steps. He looks so cute when he walks.

I love the Am I Being Unreasonable threads. Some of them are really funny but some turn really nasty.

Rubena · 04/02/2010 14:54

Found LOADS of posts on her but can't be bothered reading them really although the first sentences didn't look bad?? Have I got the wrong person or am I not finding the right threads

Yes I've had the swine flu jab - actually the whole family has. it's a killer on the arm the next day but no side effects.
