Tit's end...had to be done.

Hope this works!

Beans - heartbeat will be easy!! You must be about 20 weeks now!! heard mine at 10. You are going to find out the sex right???

LadyThompson · 04/02/2010 15:04

Honestly Rubes, ignore my irrational dislike of the woman, I am sure she is fine really and that 98% of her posts are deeply bland and benign

I am pregnant and therefore allowed to be slightly unfair, in much the same way as an elderly lady

I am not very good at cooking as you all probably know, but tonight I am attempting to make spinach souffles in these cute heart shaped Le Creuset pots that were in with my Christmas prezzies. You only use egg whites and not much parmesan so they are actually pretty healthy.

Right, have now got to force myself to ring a load of workmen re: quotes. Sigh.

Rubena · 04/02/2010 15:14

Yes and I'm allowed to be slightly unfair due to my hormones as well. AIBU to be irritated that some of our "recent" own have previously said they aren't posting as they barely have time for Facebook yet other threads on MN are riddled with their posts? I might start a thread

Good luck with the appointment beans and report back

Good luck with the souffle Lady, sounds yummy and a bit technical!

Beans33 · 04/02/2010 15:22

I'm 20 weeks tomorrow - scary hairy! Half way already - can't believe it!

Rubena · 04/02/2010 15:28

so yay you get to find out the sex today!!! Are you finding out?

LadyThompson · 04/02/2010 15:36

I want to know who is posting loads elsewhere that we don't see any more!

Tilly is in the West London thread a lot (don't post there myself), other than that I haven't seen anyone else much.

I think I am hanging around in the wrong threads. The ones I look at are Property, Style, In the News, the telly one sometimes, Baby Names (I like names even if I am not pregnant) AIBU (the answer is almost always yes) and that's mainly it. I try to avoid the breast v bottle ones now but occasionally get sucked in to the cs-bashing ones (but I think I am over that now). The ones I really like the best are the funny ones. Because I am a lover not a hater Oh and on a very general level I suppose I am interested in Education and sometimes look on there. I'm quite boring, in actual fact

Hope the scan goes well, Beans. Envious of you finding out the sex. Curiosity is killing this particular cat.

urbanewarrior · 04/02/2010 16:21

Thank you all for your kind thoughts. It makes such a difference. Which makes me feel even more pathetic. But I think I'm allowed to feel pathetic.

Syb I would love a cake. But we're quarantined until DS has been symptom free for 48 hours and he threw up this morning. Really very kind of you to offer. Thanks

DS is slowly getting better, but he's still really not himself He's currently lying on the sofa doing some drawing with some new crayons a friend brought him round (and passed through the window ).

DH stayed at home today. Which I am really grateful for. Makes it so much easier and I'm not panicking about how I would manage to rush back to hospital if we needed to. Much amused by the chat about annoying posters. I'm a bit addicted to reading about the crazy lives of some mnetters. I'm v snobby about magazines full of salacious details of people's lives and then realised the other day that I that's what I basically do reading the rest of mumsnet. That and get recommendations for expensive products

Also and about that woman LadyT. I always thought she was a bit of an arse and quite irritating and now I know that was a massive under-estimate. Can't believe she said that to you.

I also love all the name chat. Effie I love all of your names. And v much looking forward to hearing what our pg brethren choose. I love Elodie. And Claude. But I would never persuade DH of either.

Trace - I agree with what everyone else has said about that loony advice on favourites. But your parenting person sounds great. You come across as such a caring Mum.

Ok my bets are...
Rubes - boy
SL - boy
Beans - girl
Lady T - girl

Although I have a 100% track record in getting it wrong

Beans33 · 04/02/2010 17:29

Just a quicky to Rubes - not finding out sex. All well with doctor visit, but just heard heart beat and blood test etc. No scan. That's on 16th Feb at 21 weeks!

Will be on more tomorrow. Got a dinner party for 11 tonight. I am wonderwife.

x

Rubena · 04/02/2010 17:37

Glad it's all fine Beans - What are you cooking tonight?

I think I've cracked the famine and ds has gone back to 3 meals a day - it is chicken surpreme I cooked that did the trick! Strangely it's one of dh's favourites too

daisydora · 04/02/2010 17:40

I don't know who any of you are talking about from our list!! But I do get easily (can you tell I'm loving this face)

DS has MMR tomorrow, so thanks for the tip about rash etc....

Trace, I don't agree with the consultants advice re: L. Seems very silly of her imo. But glad that you got a positive outcome on other stuff.

Oh and DS has just fallen down the stairs, he seems okay but I do feel like a very bad mummy. Still he seems okay....

Sorry I've not caught up properly will try to get on later xx

daisydora · 04/02/2010 17:46

Rubs, I do feel are DS's are linked in some parallel world, we are back to 3 meals, and crying for more!! Spag bol in our house that got him going again, although it was DH who cooked not me. Guess that says it all

Rubena · 04/02/2010 17:54

wow Daisy how bizarre! Good news though!
Hope ds is ok! Even stranger is, just 2 days ago my ds mastered climbing the stairs but he did it really slow. Today he went up so fast then screamed at the top as he was stuck since there's a gate at the top and he couldn't move!! I was imagining all these horrible scenario's if he fell and asking dh (who said he'd be ok maybe a few bumps and bruises but they are pretty bouncy at this age) Doesn't stop me worrying though. Are yours carpeted? And what happened was it from the top? I don't think you are bad at all I just want to know as I don't know whether to believe dh!

daisydora · 04/02/2010 18:14

Yeah the stairs are carpeted. Not sure where he fell from tbh. I think maybe the top - I heard lots of bumps then a louder bang when he got to the bottom. We have a stairgate at the bottom (open as DD had been to the loo) and that broke his fall I think. I ran to the stairs by which point he was upside down and crying

He has a small red mark on his head which i just noticed in the bath but other than that not a scratch. Plus he was jumping about in the bath and giggling so no lasting damage I hope.

Rubena · 04/02/2010 18:52

It seems they don't share the same interest in playing in the bath. DS still is a nightmare to bath and screams and tries to climb out. He's not scared, just wants to play with other stuff in the bathroom.
Glad he is ok after the tumble. We don't have a gate at the bottom to break the fall as the stairs don't work with one unless I got a taller one or something. What kind do you have there?

He has already been run over by the dog coming down in a hurry while he was on the 3rs step and did a tumble onto the wood floor but just had a scratch from that. We have a travel gate which we just put up from time to time but it's really annoying to keep opening etc.

JollyBear · 04/02/2010 19:17

Evening all,

aub I'm that this is only the second time you've got passed Birmingham! Where did you get to? You should do a northern tour, the Lake district is just wonderful when you get off the tourist trail.

trace I agree with everyone re your consultants comment. Really very odd. I've been thinking about it and my mum used to tell all of us children that we were, her favourite... whatever we were so.. I was her favourite girl (only girl ), my older brother was her favourite big boy and my younger one was her favourite little boy. I'm sure you've tried lots of stuff but I thought maybe encouraging Lu to help choose what P wears or has for tea etc might help her feel more involved with P. You probably do all that already . These things must take time. I've said before that DH's older brother and DH are very close and there were 7 years and lots of jealousy at first.

daisy How awful, that must have been so scary. DD has just started climbing the stairs and can go very fast, I need eyes in the back of my head. DS sounds fine though thankfully.

Oh the disappeared former members, I suppose people find it hard to catch up with the thread and just drop off. Don't stick to facebook, I'm not on.

beans Are you finding out next week then? How exciting!

I meant to say before katie, hope your dad is better soon.

DD has stopped being sick (fingers crossed), but is not eating much. DH insisted on trying her with some Heinz tomato soup earlier. Now, don't get me wrong, I love the stuff. I only have to sneeze to start craving it, however, I'm sure if I had never had it as a child I'd think it was disgusting. It bears no resemblence to any tomato known to man. Anyway the delicious combo of sugar, salt and thickener wasn't a massive hit but she had a few spoonfuls. I might try spag bol and chicken supreme rub and daisy! It is hard work when they're ill and won't eat.

JollyBear · 04/02/2010 19:20

rub DD was like that in the bath recently, constantly standing up and trying to climb out, so I got her some new bath toys (they were less than £2!) and she now sits happily.. so far, she'll get bored soon I'm sure!

daisydora · 04/02/2010 19:39

rub we have a lindam stairgate (about £25 I think). But DD has now mastered how to open it and is useless at shutting it. But she is only 3 so I shouldn't expect too much.

Jolly glad DD is feeling a bit brighter. heinz Tomato soup is my number one food when i'm ill! That and soft boiled eggs with 'toasted soldiers'

KiwiPanda · 04/02/2010 20:11

Evening all! Wow I have been too hectic to check MN for a while and have clearly missed some big news!! LadyT you were right with your suspicions then!! Congrats!! How are you feeling about it??

Rubes did I somehow miss your announcement or is that brand new too??

How very exciting. Can't offer any even vaguely interesting news from me except work is good, DD is enjoying nursery and, err.. no, that's it!

Veggiemummy · 04/02/2010 20:39

Gosh you ladies are so bust today. I have taken so long to catch up and now can't remember anything, I have to sort dinner out but just wanted to quickly say LadyT your nurse is a nonce!!!! When the polio vaccine used to be oral (it's now part of a triple vaccine) we used to tell the kids to wash their hands properly after they went to the toilet because as it is live and taken orally it would be excreted but no vaccines are oral anymore, it really does scare me the level HPs out there!

Trace your consultants advice is terrible, if that's the case I should def feel guilty about DS1 as he has no GPs to tell him he is their fav. I really think if that is what's bugging her surely encouraging non competition between them would be best. I thought at this age they get a bit of a hormones boost. DS1 is 4.5 years and he gets a bit stroppy like a teenager sometimes which I thought was the hormone thing. I could be wrong though. That parent lady from school sounds good.

Beans so funny about the possible AIBU I sometimes think about doing one that says SAHM can't possible feel fullfilled of Working mums are being selfish. I do remember one spoof post ages ago where the post did a AIBU to think as a SAHM I should be entitled to at least a BMW from my DH was hilarious all these women went mental.

Rubena · 04/02/2010 20:44

Thanks Daisy, I might have a look at those in a bit. I just need an extra tall one as otherwise it's too steep to reach the top of the gate to open it coming down.

Kiwi - do you mean me being preg? If so, yes, and wow how did you miss that? I've rambled on about horrible symptoms for weeks now - you must think I just whinge in general! or more likely my posts are that boring most people probably skim over them so I understand completely I have a horrible habit of rambling on here and in RL

Veggiemummy · 04/02/2010 20:47

Oh and Rubs & Daisy, DS2 is linked in to your LO's via the esp system as he is also back on 3 good meals a day. I need to fatten him up before his consultatiebureau appointment on Monday.

LadyThompson · 04/02/2010 21:05

You aren't boring Rubes and indeed as the only other Celeb BB fan what do you think about Alex Reid marrying Jordan (my oh my, she is a piece of work) and that horrid Kay Burley off Sky interviewing Peter Andre in a really disgraceful way ("How would you feel if Alex Reid were to adopt your children" etc). Urbane, you can switch off for this bit

Veggie, I love the way you drop the little bits of Dutch vocab into your posts. It's like a language lab

Actually, the smiley I would most like would be a few different sorts of grins as it is the one I use the most.

Thanks Kiwi. I was a bit shellshocked a week ago and a bit negative to be honest but I am really coming round to the idea. I am worried about money and about kissing goodbye to the remnants of my social life coping but I utterly adore my DD so I am trying to focus on the plus point of having another lovely baby. Oh, but congrats are due to Summer Lightning as well, there are four of us in total.

Right, off to watch programme about woman who has eight boys and wants a girl...

waitinggirl · 04/02/2010 21:31

hello, lovelies - my, you have been busy. i don't know anything about any old posters, apart from turnip is a delight and i am hoping to catch up with her in the park sometime in the spring. i reckon she simply doesn't have time.

madam ahs been a tricky little madam recently, but i do love her (in spite of occasionally crying my eyes out in frustration and thinking i am the world's worst mum).

re: stairgates - am i the only person who hasn't got any? madam loves going upstairs, i'm always there behind her (at least once she gets halfway up) and ALWAYS there behind her when she comes down (hilariously). am i being stupid/reckless?

also... i'm in a quandary about giving up bf. i love it and i also feel trapped by it. and i worry the longer i leave it, the harder it will be. but then again, it is our key to having a couple of hours more sleep in the morning. ugh ugh ugh. any advice for a firsttimer?

Rubena · 04/02/2010 21:49

Aww thanks Lady
yes I've just seen that show is on and i'm going to watch it on the plus channel since i've missed half of it already.

WG - ds doesn't know how to go down - well he can do one step but then freezes and gets really scared and screams, but he goes up so fast that he nearly falls every time. It's just getting to be a pain if I have to run upstairs for something as he's right behind me so I have to take him every time. If he could get down ok I wouldn't be worried.

Rubena · 04/02/2010 21:51

Oh and Lady Iknow Alex and Katie my Gosh.... what next. I really like Peter. have only seen a snippet of that interview, but i'd like to see it as I feel sorry for him. Hope he gets himself a really nice wife one day soon
