flippin Oh, yes! Brilliant idea!

How exciting that our meet is only a week away now. Still haven't sorted out any shoes for the big day yet either, lol.

Right, I think I'm having an early night tonight. I've been up too late recently and it's the 1st night without dh tonight, so I'm expecting a great sleep.

FiByTheIcySea · 11/02/2010 22:23

ok... so i have now started a thread on our fb group for MT ideas/loves/hates
Thanks flippin i'd swithered about panels.

really excited about london though!

Tummum · 11/02/2010 22:28

Evening all. Thank crunchie it's Friday I say !

Fi wow, big respect for your designing in your head

Flippin I have done the same recently with DD2. She kept on weeing herself and complaining that her bottom hurt. In the end (after a month ) I took her to the GP and she had a UTI and thrush. It's so difficult when they can't tell you exactly what is going on. Similarly DD1 was ill on Monday, so eventually I took her to the GP because she had a 40 degree fever. The Dr took one look at her throat and she had hideous tonsillitis. She didn't complain once about her throat !

Ses hope the return to work goes well.

Younger I, too, am patient-ish throughout the day but tend to lose it with the DDs at bedtime. I think I am just knackered by that time in the day, and desperate for them to go to bed so I get a bit of peace and quiet and eat my tea. I find it so difficult to not shout, but I think that my DH is right that I need to find a way to stop. The trouble is my DD2 knows exactly how to wind me up. After watching Jo Frost this week I have resolved to stop shouting, because I am the parent and I need to. It's sooooooo hard though

Belgina how's the snow doing? When does your ap arrive?

I'm gutted that I can't make it to the London meet up. Hope you all have a lovely time and take plenty of pictures of your shoes

FiByTheIcySea · 11/02/2010 22:37

how's DD now tummum? I'm feeling heaps better & started taking the AB's for tonsillitis saturday eve... so by my reckoning
she should be feeling a lot better already but still worn out with it?

uhoh... ds has just stumbled through... thirsty apparently and now wants to 'help' me on the computer as he's spotted it's switched on...

youngerthanspringtime · 11/02/2010 22:44

hi all.
have just watched leaving Home at 8 and thought it was so sad. had to turn it because I wanted to cry (just read the MN thread as well).

good to read your comments about shouting and patience. Pula, i do try to stop and think of a different way to react to their whingeing but most times I forget or am just too quick to ignite. I'll try extra hard tomorrow not to shout. tumm, wish I'd seen Jo Frost this week.

Tummum · 11/02/2010 23:21

Fi DD1 started ABs on Monday night, and by Tuesday afternoon was bouncing off the walls, so was back at school on Weds. I think DC are pretty amazing at bouncing back after illness. Glad that you are feeling better.

Younger watching Jo Frost didn't help me tonight. I still shouted ! I need to find an alternative approach. The other thing that gets me is the relentlessness of putting them to bed. Because it's always me I think I get a bit selfish and wish DH would do it once in a while. But he's not here most of the time, so no chance there really ! He's back tonight, so guess what DH is doing tomorrow night, whilst I tuck into a glass of vino

youngerthanspringtime · 11/02/2010 23:41

I know, Tumm, part of my prob is the same: dh is never here for bedtime - he arrives about 7.30-8pm when they're either just in bed or asleep.

he's off 2 days next week so I'll be having my vino as well .

FiByTheIcySea · 11/02/2010 23:56

just put ds back to bed x3 hoping this is 3x's a charm

make that 4x's a charm?

tummum glad dd bounced back so quickly ikwym about the dinner bath bedtime.. some days i'd like to fast forward to the cuddling in bed reading stories and skip the rest!

I meant to record both of those programs.. but creative pondering and then DS put it clean out of my head!

FiByTheIcySea · 11/02/2010 23:58

Right heading to bed. night all x

FiByTheIcySea · 12/02/2010 00:14

x5.. arrrgh

youngerthanspringtime · 12/02/2010 06:42

aw Fi, hope DS settled finally. dd1 got up just once which was because Harper had a screaming fit about 11. but thankfully all slept through the night beyond that. of course I woke up at 430am unable to sleep .

am going to do my best to control shouting at DDs today. playgroup today, preg friend visiting (good excuse for biscuits). try to be back on later.

hope all are well this morning.

FiByTheIcySea · 12/02/2010 07:47

urrrgh i'm tired. DS was asleep after #6 tuck back into bed.. sometime around 00.30am, dh then disturbed me x2 getting ready for work between 5am & 6am. G woke for the day at 7am and ds not long after. i'm determined to get him to pre school though so i can get a rest while he's there!

younger i have 2 pregnant friends atm.. one is having her cs on day of london meet (and doesn't want visited that day) the other is entering the anytime from now time on monday! good to hear you didn't have a wakeful dc night shame you woke at 4.30am though.

HeadlessLadyH · 12/02/2010 07:51

Morning all.

A reasonable night. Well for me anyway. R woke up just as we were going to bed and as I had an horrendous night the previous one, I announced to DH that he could deal with him, and promptly took myself upstairs. Having said that I kept waking up, dreaming about going back to work!

pula have you been reading How to Talk so kids will listen?? I've not read it but did chance over an old MN thread (that was v funny) about it and your response sounded like something out of there.

I do feel like Mrs Shouty at times too younger. Especially yesterday morning. I seemed to spend the whole time shouting at DS1 and also his friend GET YOUR SHOES ON CLEAN YOUR TEETH STOP FIGHTING YOU CAN SHARE SPIDERMAN

runningmonkey · 12/02/2010 09:38

Morning all,

Missed some interesting sling chat yesterday. Fi I am in awe of your designing abilities. I love making things but am not clever enough to design things for myself!

I actually have a sling question - if you are going out for a day with lo in a sling how do you carry nappies, food, etc? Obviously I have the added annoyance of bottles too. A sling would be the ideal option for things like the london trip but I find the buggy so useful for carrying the nappy bag as well as A

Well I survived a day in work yesterday and quickly felt like I've never been away as I was chivvying along late students within 5 mins of being in the building . A did well at the cm although was a bit grumpy as she was v v tired after being up 1.30-3am on Wed night. I have to admit that I really enjoyed doing something non-baby related but it was lovely to get big smiles and cuddles from A when I picked her up.

younger don't be hard on yourself for shouting, I am sure its hard enough looking after three littlies let alone on such little sleep.

flip Also don't be hard on yourself. I don't think I would have suspected UTI either and your DD is ok. I think your mum is a bit off with her comment tbh.

Hi to everyone else. A has just woken up so need to sort her out. Will hopefully be back later.

flippinegg · 12/02/2010 10:11

Morning all!

Sorry to hear about all the disturbed nights out there. Usual rubbish here so won;t bore you with it.

DD1 seems ok today, but we've already had one pair of wet knickers. I'm really not sure how much of it is due to the infection and how much is her being two (and pigheaded!) - when she needs to wee she'll pull a face a jiggle, but if I ask her she denies it totally and then guess what happens. Maybe she's jiggling because it's uncomfortable, who knows. I am trying so hard to be patient but we have knickers and trousers on every radiator in the house (they have been washed!!!). Sorry to go on about this, but it seems like my life is full of piss! I was so pleased before Christmas when it seemed like th whole toilet thing was sorted.

Re carrying stuff and slings - running, if I've got A on my front I use a rucksack, if she's on my back then I have a shoulder bag, or a tote type bag. I don't have bottles to carry, but I quite often have changes of clothes for DD1, although having said that if I've got both girls I'll sometimes have the pushchair too.

FiByTheIcySea · 12/02/2010 10:18

G asleep and DS in pre school
runningm glad your day back at work felt good and i can just picture those smiles and cuddles awww
headless your shouting yesterday made me but only because it could have been me saying those exact same things i too must try harder to not raise my voice

all of you are making me about my designing skills. I thank you all but for me it's no biggy. I have always designed and made things.. I think my earliest proper things were clothes for my sindy dolls aged 4/5ish & i just carried on from there through to my Bachelor of Design with Hons in constructed textiles and beyond. Everyone has something they're good at.. writing, teaching, maths, organising.. for me it's designing.

FiByTheIcySea · 12/02/2010 10:27

flippin i'm like you wrt carrying stuff when using a sling. my changing bag is full of both DS snacks/drinks/toys etc & G's kit.. the changing bag i bought converts to a rucksack or shoulder depending on what i want which is very handy.

runningmonkey · 12/02/2010 10:50

Right A is asleep again now.

Thanks for the tips ladies re slings and bags, I think I am pretty bad at carrying around too much stuff in case of every evenutality - DH used to laugh at me pre-A because even if it was blazing sunshine I would have a big bag with a cardie, jacket, umbrella, etc in. Oh how I laugh when I am proved right and he got soaked in just a t-shirt I think if we have another DC I will definitely try to get on better with slings, I just didn't get on with it this time around.

Inspired by fi's crafty genius am going to take the opportunity while A is asleep to try to finish the cardigan I am knitting for her. I really need to finish it before it gets to small for her

HeadlessLadyH · 12/02/2010 13:21

Another one to fis creative talents. I don't have a creative bone in my body so sewing a button on is a major achievement here!!

And knitting too running.

I must admit to being a sling virgin. I used a baby bjorn occasionally ( but they are not hard core slings really!) so the sling chat has gone a bit over my head but belgina the pic of you and C with a beautiful sling did make me think I'd missed out.

Just back from meeting a couple of friends this morning. As soon as we got there R vomited (and I mean vomited) all over himself. And me. I am hoping that it was the snot that he has clearly been swallowing over the past few days that made him ill. Is that a possibility? He had a sleep, another bottle and seems fine now eating toast and banana.

Hope so as we are off up to Preston after school to see some pals.

FiByTheIcySea · 12/02/2010 13:32

headless vomit due to snot.. yes definitely as possibility. my doctor told me a long time ago babies and children often take the most effective route to expelling mucous.. what doesn't come out one end will no doubt be projectile vomited out the other! i have often found it to be very accurate have a lovely afternoon.. hopefully vomit free too?!

FiByTheIcySea · 12/02/2010 13:51

the only carrier i've had is also a bjorn one. i have enjoyed it but now G has grown out of it already i'm in need of something else.

llareggub · 12/02/2010 13:52

Yes, almost certainly due to snot. G has vomited a few times due to this.

SinginHinny · 12/02/2010 13:55

So where's Sexybuilder then? I was promised HOT SEXYBUILDER action.

I'm going to attempt to read through past 9,000,000,000 pages and post something clever, witty and earthy.

That was S's contribution btw!!!! I thought I'd leave it in.

I have to go and purchase eggs and so forth, then pick up DD2. I am hoping for some aftrenoon MNin later to make up for my uselesness.

HeadlessLadyH · 12/02/2010 13:58

Glad to hear my diagnosis isn't fanciful!

He's not been sick for about 2 1/2 hours now so am hoping that he got all of it out. Its still pouring out of his nose though.

Meant to say earlier flip hope your days become less pissy now you have a diagnosis. And may your radiators be underwear free soon.
