Runs in, does comedy dance routine.

Hi everyone!!

I've just been up to the GPs for an appointment for R and myself as we have both had the lurgy for a couple of weeks now. He has given us eyedrops and antibs so hopefully we will feel better soon. R slept better last night after a bad week or so so hopefully that means he is getting better. He is currently doing headstands (must have been getting lessons from O, Ses!) and crawling around the lounge .

Fi Hope your DH is back wth you soon so you can rest again.

Belgian Hope your mouth is ok now that the drugs would have worn off.

Dandy Am now fretting over fashion for meet up .

Ses I am hoping to leave DD we a friend and then I think I will leave the buggy and ust bring R in the wrap. I figure that he can crawl around the floor whereever we meet up.

FiByTheIcySea · 08/02/2010 15:22

flippin oh dear.. hammer and tweezers! suddenly the pliers don't seem so bad. dh has just been on the phone & i was telling him about the pliers.. he laughed too then asked if ds had used the saw yet?! i'd forgotten that is ds's next tool of choice & fortunately i've not been sawed yet!
hiya singing catchya after the school run.

FiByTheIcySea · 08/02/2010 15:27

I got the time of dh's flight wrong.. he's home late tonight not late this pm.. but is off tomorrow so i can rest when he does the to/fro pre school run with DS.

Thanks everyone for your tooth concerns. It's still a bit achy, but nowhere near as bad as yours must have been, flippin. I've now also got a mouthguard to sleep with. I look like a boxer, but it should protect my teeth from my tooth grinding in my sleep. Wonder what DH will think of being greeted by a woman wearing one of those in bed.

ses lovely to hear that you had a nice time in Centreparks. It is one of our dcs most favourite places to go. Shame it's so pricy.

fi Aaaw, about your ds trying to fix you with his tools. My ds used to do that sort of things. Now at 8 he doesn't anymore Hope his fixing has worked

flippin Good idea to discuss the jab with your GP. It reminded me to talk to mine today to rebook C in. Hers was due when we were snowed in.

spangle If you're reading this. I had noticed C having a red mouth after meals too. I decided to leave out dairy for a few days and lo and behold, she hasn't had it. She must have a slight dairy sensitivety like your H.

singing Hope to see you back again soon. Was going to send you a f/b message today to see how you're doing.

febes Hadn't intended to bring the buggy to the meet up either. TBH C hasn't been in the buggy much since moving here. She'll come along in my mei tai (a truly beautiful thing, as flippin can confirm ).

Right. Dinner should be ready now. It's just ds, C and me tonight. Dd1 is out on a 'play date' (hate that word) and DH is at work.

HeadlessLadyH · 08/02/2010 17:45

Afternoon all.

R is just having a cat nap - he's still got the snot monster and had a little temp this afternoon. Brought down quickly by the elixir that is Calpol.

DS1 is watching Take That live!! I'm trying to educate him.

pula glad your DH liked my dress! I got it in orange. I didn't see the lime green one in the shop but would still have gone for orange. It is lovely and I think I will chuck it in a delicate v low temp wash. Dry clean only. Pah.

belgina hope your mouth is ok soon and your DH doesn't get too much of a shock in bed. I am imagining the Hannibal Lector look but I realise that is ridiculous.

cherry trust your instincts. I think most doctors would rather you take a well child in for a check rather than not see a sick one IYSWIM. We have friends who used the pad and it was forever going off. Maybe he had rolled off the sensor or something?

fi LOl at your DS and his tools. So sweet. Hope you manage a day of rest when your DH returns.

ses glad you had a good time at CP. Did you get any spa time?? We are CP fans here too. Next trip though is with the in laws. Now, I could be about to offend you terribly here ses (but I hope not!), but my in laws have a habit of booking the basic villas, ie the cheapest. They don't believe in things like dishwashers or comfy beds. And although I love CP I am dreading the weekend they have booked to go with us. FIL last time said (in an email) that we would not be eating out at all as it was likely to be too chaotic with our numbers. We were 4 children, and 7 adults, and he was sure that me and my two SILs would be able to rustle up delicious meals for us all. Gah. Its not like CP is set up for families or anything, is it? So. I slammed my thumb in our car door ( not deliberately I hasten to add) on the way up there and had to go to A&e as nail came off and it transpired I had broken my thumb. Got me out of the cooking and washing up (no dishwasher of course).

dandy please take pics of all your footwear on your meet and post on FB. Then the rest of us can guess whose are whose. And LOL at the return of the ballet shoe.

To add to the shoe porn, I had to get new work shoes today (12 days to go and counting.....).rather nice I think I also tried on the ones that Flip linked to - the teal ones - and it was a tough call! I was LOL to myself at the time I was trying them on thinking about you lot.

pulapancake · 08/02/2010 18:06

headless- let me know how the dress copes with a cold wash and I might be tempted to place an order .

Now I've enjoyed the new style villas at CP I wouldn't want to do the comfort villas again. I did think about a luxury executive villa for the second weekend of half term but my dad is still working and can't have time off, and we'd need to fill it to make it worthwhile. It's £859 for 8 people for 3 nights which is a fair amount, but all rooms were en suite, it has a sauna, a gamesroom and private balconies to 2 bedrooms. Actually if anyone fancies it (sherwood forest), we could share .

essenceofSES · 08/02/2010 18:16

LadyH - ooh yes, I had a half body hot stone massage which was fantastic!
Definitely not a basics kind of girl either! We had three x 2 bedroom woodland lodges for the 6 couples and 6 babies. Dishwasher was a lovely suprise. On the Saturday night we had babysitters booked and we all went off to Cafe Rouge.
I was amazed at how busy the place was for the beginning of Feb and I'm not sure I could cope with going peak season but we will definitely go back.
Belgina - one of our NCT mums managed to book it so that each family of 3 paid about £180 which we didn't think was too bad for Fri-Mon. Obviously added extras for anything else you do.
I booked O in to the creche on Sunday morning as DH had to do some work and I thought I'd just have some chilling time. He loved it! They gave a lovely little written report and we got his first piece of "art" to put up - 6 footprints on a blue piece of paper with a little rhyme about his Center Parcs trip and his name on
Fi - thank you, but thankfully O is much better now. Stomach bug gone and just a bit snotty.

LadyH - I'm going to have to look back at the thread for your dress, sounds lovely!

Febes - lol at headstand lessons
I think I may just try bringing the backpack to the meet up. I just hope he stays in it ok for the whole journey as once I take him out he'll want to start crawling all over the place.

singing - good to hear from you! You'd better be back!

Right bathtime calls and then I'm actually going out to meet up with 3 friends from work for pizza
Hope you all have a good evening!

HeadlessLadyH · 08/02/2010 18:57

ses the woodland lodges are indeed lovely. We did that with my folks in March last year. Lovely bedding I recall, as opposed to the cardboard we had in the comfort. SOunds like you had a fantastic time.

Incidentally, I was told (by someone in the leisure industry) that CP have 90% average occupancy all year round. So chances are, most of the villas were full when you were there and I would guess that the only difference would be the ages of the kids around. Its what I love about CP, you don't feel that that it is overrun with people and there is enough to do to spread everyone out.

Hot stone massage. Does that feel a bit weird? I've always thought it looked a bit odd. Tell me I'm wrong and I shall book one pronto.

pula I'll let you know. I think I shall wear it one more time before I wash it, and that will prob be in next week.

DS1 seemed to like Take That.Particularly the bit with the elephant. If you don't know about this part of the show, that sounds a bit strange!

belgina · 08/02/2010 20:02

centerparcs (Don't like to abbreviate to cp as I keep thinking you're all talking about chicken pox, lol) Anyway. I think you can have some good term time deals, but with 2 school age dcs we can't do that. We went half price when dd1 was a baby and that was great. Last time we paid extra to be able to book our villa. We picked one close to the swimming pool etc... which was really worth the extra fee (only about £20 or so) It was so much nicer going during term time too, less busy, probably due to less older children running around. Never been to the spa, though. It seems nice, but I'm just too poor for it

shoes Lol, like the idea of taking shoe pics and the guess who game. Headless you just reminded me that I have to go and get myself some work shoes too. Sadly mine will be no shoe porn. They'll be something like this or this

Gotta go now. Bedtime.

HeadlessLadyH · 08/02/2010 20:21

Un Lady? They could do with some more lively names!!!

Jael · 08/02/2010 20:32

Hello everyone, I've had alot on my plate. Alot of you ladies still know I'm around on FB, I manage 5 mins on there everyday if I'm lucky.

I'll try and come back in a couple of weeks maybe, when my heads abit clearer and more thing's have been sorted.

Thankyou to all of you, you know who you are, who have supported me with lovely comments on FB, it's lovely to know you are there for me

I really have missed chatting on here.

Tummum I'm sorry if I've done something to upset you. XX

Hope you are all well, and that your little ones are thriving just as perfecting as my little man is. God Bless, Jael X

headless I know. I'll be walking around the wards in an un-ladylike fashion with those shoes. Probably named as such because they're made for stomping

Hi jael Glad to hear from you. Hope things settle soon for you

flippinegg · 08/02/2010 21:20

Evening all!

jael - do come back when you have time/are ready. Hope things work out for you.

lol at the guess the shoes!!! headless - nice shoes. Office was definitely the best shoe shop I went all day on Sunday, I could happily have spent a lot of money in there. And not just on the Birkenstocks . belgina - it's obvious your job isn't porn star.

We've never been to centre parks, although it does look good. I don't think our budget stretches to it right now, even off peak.

singing - are you coming back to talk to us? You can't just flounce in and out like that, you know.

Reggiee · 08/02/2010 21:49

It's still sooooo busy here . Anyone give me a run down of the gossip? All well I trust?

Had a v v quick browse at the recent posts, so I'm well out of touch but Llare great news about your GM; CentreParcs is fab especially with pre-schoolers - went there last Oct and heading there again this autumn; shoes don't do it for me - must have funny feet; Belg hope the teeth are getting better / fi mouth ditto; and Dandy you're back !! Although I suspect you've been back for ages and it's me who's actually not been here . Hello to everyone else specially my northern gals Momi pula and grumps.

So, work really gets in the way of MN. Also, as half expected, B has been constantly poorly since starting nursery - including various colds; the worst illness was 'sixth' disease which was grim; and current disease is bad conjunctivitis. At least his immune system is revving up .
He's still not crawling (lazy) but does a bum bounce shuffle. He is just soooooooooo cuddly .

Erm, not much else to say . Except I am also ridiculously tired and suspect I am anaemic again as I am crunching ice like a madwoman.

Is anyone pregnant yet btw ?

llareggub · 08/02/2010 23:15

All this shoe talk! Loved the shoes Headless! I've been browsing the t'internet all night looking for inspiration for work clothes. I don't want any suits, just good separates. And shoes, of course I want shoes! Though I still don't know if I'll be able to walk in them.

I was looking forward to getting my birkies and ballet shoes back out again, as spring was definitely in the air. But it has snowed again and it was freezing here today.

I'm feeling far, far to lazy to name check so I shall witter on aimlessly for a bit. Poor G is teething badly and has about 4 teeth coming through at once.

Center Parcs I've never been but have been tempted. I was going to book Bluestone but in the few months I've been deliberating over it the price has gone up by £200 and I am too irritated to pay it! My brother has been and he enjoyed it but some of the facilities still aren't finished.

I've been ebaying again and I've done well out of it this month with my wardrobe clearance. I have a nice little pot for my new work wardrobe!

Wagamamas have never been and I am not quite sure where I'd find one. Sounds good though. I might have to try and track one down.

Balletgate I'm glad you updated us Dandy! cherry to be honest I'm a terrible worrier so I'd be off to the GP. I'm not saying you should, but it would just niggle away at me. It is another reason why we don't have one of those sensor things. I probably wouldn't be able to sleep for listening to it.

I had a good chat with one of my friends last night. She is a new mother and we were talking about feeling mumsy. I really feel a bit mumsy at the moment. My hair needs a really good sort out. It is a bit too long, needs a good colour treatment and I have grey roots. I usually end up tying it back and I really hate it. I've had the same style forever and I need a change.

Right. Am going to do a much better job of contributing to the thread tomorrow without randomly posting thoughts. I do hope everyone is well and those who have been ill are getting better. Have only got the one child tomorrow so an easier day! Night all.

youngerthanspringtime · 09/02/2010 09:50

morning all.
yet another broken night with dds1&2. I don't expect any sympathy from anyone since some of you have the same.

HV was here yesterday and said that we need to move dd1 to the guest room and move H in with dd2 since they're both better sleepers. sounds like a lot of work to get a new room ready, buy another bed but I think it's the right thing to do.

also had Harper weighed - she's 16lb 2oz which disappoints me a bit as I was sure she weighed at least 18lbs and looks chubbier than the 9th centile

youngerthanspringtime · 09/02/2010 09:59

ok has fallen asleep [relieved emoticon].

just returned for a quick message to cherry, hope all is ok and do see your GP for any worries - you'll feel better if you do.

oh, and hi ses. it seems like ages since i've seen you (has it been ?).

really must go turn off the telly (and this Laptop), dd2 will turn into a zombie and it's barely 10am.

HeadlessLadyH · 09/02/2010 10:06

Morning all.

Good to see you back reggiee. R is on his second week at nursery and is off today - heavy cold, cough and a bit of a temp. I don't start back at work till the 22nd so am hoping that the illnesses will slow down then. What is sixth disease? Sounds a bit scary!

Bad night here too younger due to R's snottiness. Sadly DS1 couldn't be tempted back into his own bed either so he and DH went upstairs and I had R in with me. He's napping now thought

Thank you for all your nice comments about my shoes. Almost makes going back to work worthwhile!

Right got lots of jobs to do today so prob back later.

llareggub · 09/02/2010 11:31

Just back from town. I've been big bra shopping at Bravissimo and now have perky underwired norks again. I've decided to cast out the nursing bras!

I popped into House of Fraser and tried on some work things. It felt great! I tried on this which is far too short on its own for work but I loved it.

This looked much better in the shop (and on me!) and I suspect that this one is a bit too va va voom for work, if you see what I mean? I loved wandering around the store and can't wait to get shopping for my return to work clothes now. I'm only doing 2 days so don't need much in the way of clothes but it will be so good to have an excuse to buy something new.

I'm going to book some child-free time soon and raid the child benefit account and buy myself something!

pulapancake · 09/02/2010 13:41

Hello reggieee. S has been constantly suffering from snuffles, tummy bugs, skin disorders (impetigo) and other ailments since starting nursery. ATM he is teething and has a wheezy chest .

younger- i guess your HVs suggestion on rooms makes sense, but i guess it doesn't adress the cause of your DD1s night wakings, but just limits their impact . H sounds petite (I think S was 17lb something when he was weighed in December). I am planning to take some photos of S naked like belgina's C on FB - he doesn't have any creases at all but he does have a chunky little bum . I was tickling it as he stood up holding the bath whilst i got it ready for him last night. As he giggled away he did a big fountain wee against it .

Anyway better do some work. I was hoping we would all be sent home ealier as we smelt gas. The engineer is here and says it's not gas, it's something that smells like gas but obviously they haven't evacuated us!

belgina · 09/02/2010 14:02

Hi everyone,

younger Moving the dcs sounds like a good idea, especially if the end result is sleep for all around

llare Nice outfits. I especially like the vavavoom one. It all depends on where you work I suppose. There's a wagamama in the Bullring BTW. Just never been, because I always thought it didn't look like somewhere to take my dcs

I also went to sort my work clothes today (minus shoes, but they'll be those un lady ones). I'm getting this sexy number. For some reason my DH doesn't find my nurses outfits not very exciting. Can't think why

singing Will you come back today instead?

reggie Hi. Sounds like you're enjoying work. about nursery passing bugs around to B

younger I'm sure H is fine. Seems a bit odd that she's lost weight, but moving around/illness can do that I suppose.

I also popped on the ward where I'll work. Very very different from where I live. Much smaller, older building. Only 2 days of planned CS, rather than daily. I also had to smile when they mentioned that whoever looked after the ante-natal women might sometimes have 7 on their own. That was sort of a normal day in my old trust. Hope that means that my workload will be a bit lighter I also got introduced to one of the community mws, who oddly enough recognised me from the dentist yesterday! What an amazing incidence of small world syndrome, lol.

Right. C's awake from her nap now. Better go and rescue her. She got attacked by the cat earlier, poor thing. It happened while I was out and DH threw the cat out for a bit. Maybe I need to spray C with some cat repellent It's a bit odd, because the cat never showed any prior interest in C.

belgina · 09/02/2010 14:04

x-post pula at the your story of S weeing against the bath. Boys, hey...
