Aha! The answer to the sex thang is to do it during the day! Home for lunch and a bit of the other!
Wmdo, sorry to hear things haven't been so straight forward but hopefully you are getting there now x

sazlocks · 18/03/2010 21:18

what is this sex that you speak of ?
thinking of trying for more babies already - are you people insane ?

DS2 been quite unsettled this last week or so so I have started strapping him into a sling when I am in the house and that has really helped - he slept for 4 hours straight in it today. He has also had a stretch of nights sleeping for 5.5 - 6 hours which is very welcome. When he is awake he is very gorgeous - lots of smiles, gurgles and coos which totally melt my heart.
I am struggling a little bit on the days I have the 2 boys without DH as I just haven't got into any sort of routine yet. I have been feeling a bit down but am hoping that things will get better as DS2 gets more settled.

alibobins sorry to hear things not so good with Jacob
WMDO glad you seem to be coming out the other side

hello to everyone else

whensmydayoff · 18/03/2010 21:56

Oh no CTFN, sorry to hear. So just as shitty with bottles then - there goes that idea!

So your Olivia has no meds at the moment - that must be tough. Her throat will be raw poor thing. It took 5/6 weeks to get the meds right and it's not perfect but massive difference. When Evan had it the meds worked perfectly within a week so don't panic, the end is near.

alibobins Im so sorry to hear you are STILL being put through the mill. Poor Jacob has had quite a few infections hasn't he? It's all going to be a distant memory soon and I bet he will be a 6'3 rugby player before you know it!

How is everything else with him, his weight etc? What age is he now?

I really hope he gets over this soon....spring is near and I bet a bit of sunshine and him getting that bit older will swing things round for you both. xx

alibobins · 19/03/2010 07:30

morning its a lovely sunny morning here makes getting up at the crack of dawn (5.30) a whole lot easier.

wmdo Jacob is 14 weeks today (where has the time gone) his weight is okay he is just bobbing along under the 9th centile he is 11lb 10oz x x
The Nutramigen and gaviscon have put a stop to the projectile vomiting a awfull nappies so thats a positive x x

whensmydayoff · 19/03/2010 08:35

Thats great ali, Im going to get my hands on this stuff (nutramigen), keep hearing good things. Does he have a dairy intollerence then?

Evan was always on the 9th centile too - he had reflux. He soon became a chubber when put onto solids, looked like a hampster for a while!

whensmydayoff · 19/03/2010 08:38

awww he is gorgeous, lovely lookinjg boys you have

whensmydayoff · 19/03/2010 08:45

Wait- did you not have 3? Is that your little girl too? Who is also lovely but I was thinking must be a niece or something. My memory is failing!

whensmydayoff · 19/03/2010 09:11

All coming back to me now ...you do have a DD because when you were PG you were worried about her eye. Is it ok now?

Honestly, it's been about 10 weeks and I haven't thought about anything else except reflux, dairy intollerences, sleep and terrible two's!

DS is such a wimp. It's a lovely day, albeit a bit windy so I have opened the back door for him to play in the garden.
He has shouted me twice....."I need a hat mummy"...."Im still cold mummy, I need another coat" (already has a thick fleecey jacket on)!

He is going to my mums for lunch today so going to try and do a bit shopping with Olivia in a sling. It will be a miracle if she doesn't scream me back out of the shop.
Desperate for jeans that don't sag at the bum and look frumpier than my mums.

alibobins · 19/03/2010 09:33

Yeah I have 3 Dd's eye is still a problem but its beginning to settle.

Doctors said reflux and diary allergy/intolerance tend to go hand in hand Ds1 was intolerant to diary up until 1.

Lol lol at your ds I can just imagine it
Ds1 is the opposite he thinks a cap is a good enough winter hat and wanted to go out in the snow in his his crocs x x

I am really enjoying Jacob now and think I have accepted that he is a sickly baby. He doesn't giggle yet but he smiles so much and coo's.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 19/03/2010 10:16

Ali - fear not. Olivia doesn't giggle either. Smiles and makes funny little noises as though she's trying to talk back to me - but she's got to be in the mood IYKWIM! It's only been a few weeks since I can honestly say she's been smiling too. And Olivia is bobbing along just under the 9th centile too. She is gaining weight so there is not a serious problem and like you, I am just resigned that she is not an "easy" baby. Somebody at the school said to me today "is she good?" - why do people always ask that? I usually reply oh yes! But for the first time, I actually replied - "No, actually she isn't" . The poor mother really laughed and said "oooh, you don't usually expect people to say that". I thought - why bloody ask then! Oops - little rant, sorry!

Right - best be off, busy day of cleaning, some consultancy work somebody has asked me to do, which I said I would do without thought of how the bloody hell I get that done in between feeding, changing, screams etc. Also have to finalise Y6 end of year party - have decided to take them to London Eye & Planet Hollywood in 2 x 18 seater hummer limos! And as the one who runs and event management company, I've got the job of organising - and I can't possibly wait because I'm an organised impatient sort! Oh, and I promised to take DD1 to the park after school so need to sort myself out for feeding Olivia whilst out and and and and aaaarrrggh! MN is NOT good for me!

x

whensmydayoff · 19/03/2010 14:16

I so know what you both mean. You come to a point where you just calm down and accept it.

When people ask me "is she good" I always used to say "no she's a nightmare"! I always say the first thought in my head and it never occured to me that it might shock people, ha! I suppose I should just role with the small talk .

Ive started a dairy free diet yesterday. Im going to do it for 3 weeks and see if there's any change. If there is, I will be getting that dairy free formula to get her used to it now.

If there isn't, im going out to buy 400 of those lazy bastard cartons of Aptimal - to get her used to it now!

Can you detect my excitement in stopping BF!

Right, DS at mums, DD sleeping. Have to do something productive.

sockmonkey · 19/03/2010 16:02

"Is she good?"
"Well I did find plans for world domination under her cot, but that could well be one of her brothers... I am watching out for her stroking white cats though"

It is a daft question, but it's just something to say isn't it.

Been brave today and taken my three out on a bus ride to big town. Sling proved to be a good idea. (it's an inset day today, not playing hookey)

Been for 6 week check, and all fine. Hurrah.

quirkychick · 19/03/2010 21:29

Lol sockmonkey! As if babies are good or bad.

Well, dd1 has been spectacularly sick tonight. All over the dinner table . Really hoping she's ok tomorrow we could really do without it. Dp and I are placing bets as to how little sleep we'll get.

londonlottie hand and finger sucking can also be teething at about 3 months I recall.

On the plus side lots of lovely smiles, baby coos here .

Haha, don't talk to me about dribbling! It's like a washer needs changing in his mouth, so now not only have to change his clothes because of bum explosions, but also 'cause his top's dripping wet...it's relentless!

LL hope you feel better soon, take care of yourself and let DH pick up some of the slack.

I have no idea what Tobin weighs, HV said at the 6wk check that I didn't need another appt, but I could go get him weighed...after the nightmare at 5days old I don't think I'll ever volunteer him for a weigh in again . Jabs went OK, so far only side effect is swollen leg.

With re the comment "is he good?", I want to know how to answer that when I have no basis for comparison.

Newbeginning1 · 20/03/2010 11:59

Morning (just) everyone, i hope everyone is ok.

Lottie - feel better soon, and i second what swh says, get DH to help you out. Jack is also very dribbly and loves chewing his hand and even gets upset if i move it to put my boob in his mouth. Who knew that would ever happen?!

Quirky - i hope DD1 is better soon

Ali - i'm glad you're enjoying Jacob now, fingers crossed things keep going from strength to strength with you guys

CTOFN - you are brave taking on consultancy work and organising the party although it sounds fab. I've given up on doing some of my day job whilst i'm on maternity leave because Jack just isnt having any of it.

DS has yet another cold which is making him very grumpy. It also means I cant take him to see my sister and niece who havent seen him for near enough 10 weeks and i was really looking forward to it but nevermind.

Have a good weekend everyone.

jardins · 20/03/2010 18:04

Oh yukkkkk! How I loathe stomach bugs: my sympathy goes out to LL and Quirkychick's DD1. Thanks to life after THE BIRTH I think this is the first year I haven't been paranoid about us catching it (I used to teach in loads of primary schools so was prime target for horrible germs ) I simple hate throwing up and I know nobody is fond of vomiting: it's just that some do it so much better than others .

Teething. Ha. I remember my eldest DD getting her first two teeth at the grand age of 2 months and naively thinking this was NORMAL. Fear not: some babies really do teethe with minimal discomfort.

Angélique is sprouting remarkably well and quite frankly I'm not going to complain about our nights as she regularly gives us 4 or 5 hours of sleep in the first part of the night: not bad for a seven week co-sleeper, I say. She still goes through a feed fest in the evenings which means I spend most of the evening lounging in bed surrounded by books, the computer, and my knitting. I'm getting quite adept at feeding AND using both hands to knit. I never thought I would though.

I'm dreading the two month injections. My GP suggests I bf her whilst she's doing the dirty deed on her. Nice idea but it dashes my hopes of DH taking her in whilst I hide behind the sofa. I'm such a wimp!

Family life aside DH and I are verrrrry stressed right now as his work situation crescendos (spellt right?) into a nightmare situation with his boss and girlfriend behaving like kindergarten kids with a hugely cruel streak. He should be out of a job in the next two weeks: just one year after we moved to this region. Sure, we know he should win his case for harrassement and unlawful dismissal and yes, we can believe that something much better will follow but OF COURSE we cannot help but wonder really what is in store for us and the moral wear and tear he's going through due to daily criticism and threats is tough to bear. Dare I ask LL ho things are going for you?

A big hello to everybody else.

jardins · 20/03/2010 18:09

ps Having engaged in amorous activities again (when I have the energy) I asked my gp at my 6 week check-up about the coil having never used one before. Any experience on this matter? I just don't like the pill for some strange reason. Any opinions would be gratefully received!

sockmonkey · 21/03/2010 09:30

Have moved DD up into 0-3 months clothes... she's too big for newborn now :: sobs :: my baby is growing up!

No idea about coil, but will watch with interest. DH has said he will go for snip, but I'll believe it when I see it

jardins · 21/03/2010 10:25

Sockmonkey I know exactly what you mean about your LO growing up. I am mourning the newborn stage but obviously happy about the ensuing stages. LOL about yours moving on to 0-3 clothes! I'll be lucky if mine being in 3 month clothes for another week: she's not quite 2 months old yet.

CantThinkofFunnyName · 21/03/2010 11:38

Amorous relations have resumed in the CantThink household!!!! Great news. But after good news, there's always bad.... it completely screwed up my pelvis!!! Have what appears to be SPD back again. Not a happy bunny today. Methinks I may have been a bit too keen ....

Still - now off out for a lovely lunch at v nice restaurant. First time out properly as a whole family. Just need to figure out if I can walk in heels now with rotten pain!

alibobins · 21/03/2010 12:07

More bad news from me
Jacob went blue yesterday and was rushed into hospital I thought it was from his chest infection but the doctor could here a heart murmer so we was admitted overnight Jacob had an x-ray and ecg and they suspect a hole in his heart
We have got a follow up a week on Monday after we see the pead for his reflux/wheezing.
We have been told to go straight back in if he becomes sweaty when feeding or goes blue and stays like it.

There is a possibilty thats its caused by the chest infection putting pressure on his heart that's why they leaving it a week x

alibobins so so sorry to hear about Jacob after everything else this is the last thing that you need. Where in the country are you again? Is he home now? Argh how terrifying for you I know you will be very stressed, try to take it easy and try to get some rest yourself. Good that they are having him back in next week to check ooh I don't know what to say, just know that we are all here sending you big hugs and moral support xxx

quirkychick · 21/03/2010 12:55

alibobins poor you! They thought dd2 had a heart murmur too, luckily she doesn't. Are you seeing a cardiologist? That's the best person to do another ecg to check for you. Fingers crossed that it is good news for you too.

jardins wishing you a less stressful time soon. I remember you talking about moving on the 4wks thread. I hope you get significant compensation and can move on to better, calmer things.

No coil here only mini-pill, GP suggested I might want a coil/implant at some point soon so would also like any opinions.

We are in 3month clothes at nearly 10wks. I feel like I keep going through the baby clothes to make sure I don't miss anything as they only wear them for a few weeks at this age. I might have to dig out the more summery clothes too [hopeful emoticon].

Dp has taken dd1 and dd2 to neighbours' house. I think this is the first time I have been in the house on my own since the birth... They will be back soon for lunch, though.
