ktpie · 17/02/2010 21:28

Congratulations Puree!

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 17/02/2010 21:38

Delighted for puree!!! Neenz today he was trying to mimic my elephant trunk impression. Very funny.

Amber be as selfish as you like!

Today's mission for me. Choose between an iMac or a macbook pro and pick a colour for the walls in the hallway/landing. Green carpet on stairs/landing, slate coloured tiles downstairs by front door, oak(ish) furniture. Any suggestions?

DebInAustria · 17/02/2010 22:13

Huge congratulations Puree,

ever so slightly tipsy after a great night in with our friends/guests, takeaway pizza, wine, cards and more wine.

SpiderWilliam · 17/02/2010 23:27

Brilliant Puree.

Amber everything crossed for you.

PenguinNZ · 18/02/2010 07:27

Yay - congratulations Puree. Love the picture on FB.

Got everything crossed for you Amber. Great to hear that everything went well.

Neenz - We have an Iggle Piggle toy that sings the IP song. ITNG only on twice a week here (and one of those times is when we are at music), but still very popular. However daily doses of Waybuloo and Blues Clues go down well too. My monkey still not talking, but thanks to Waybuloo he is amazing at yoga, v useful as he holds his feet when I change his nappy.

Can't type much more as I have a tiny cat jumping on me and the keyboard.

abdnhiker · 18/02/2010 08:14

congrats puree!!!

Another potential snow day here, we're definitely snowed in for the morning and I'm not sure if we'll make it up the hill (four miles away) to the nursery this afternoon. I've told the boys we're going on an expedition to the north pole....

SpiderWilliam · 18/02/2010 17:11

What has happened to the thread today?

Been out visiting people on the south coast today. Such a pity it has been tipping down wit rain. When we did go for a very short walk, P managed to do a forward roll over a football into a puddle which was very amusing. His hat, coat and hair were all muddy though.

neenz · 18/02/2010 17:43

Well done Puree, fab news!

Been quiet on here today hasn't it? I am at work, started my new hours this week, 2-8pm, it is brilliant. It's a shorter shift (I was doing 10.30-6 before), but the same work and not as much sitting around waiting for pages to be sent. And the traffic there and back is non-existent . Just got to ask CM now if she will take them for half a day and how much she will charge. She is on holiday this week. The local nursery will charge £48.60 for half day . I only pay the CM £60 for a full day! So I hope the CM can offer me something cheaper. DH is enjoying it too because he picks them up from CM and takes them home for milk and bath. Usually he is rushing to get them bathed before I get home at 7pm (because I like them in bed ie out of the way then) but now he just chills out and takes his time. Last night it was 8pm when they got to bed . I got home at 9pm and my tea was there waiting for me. Fab

abdnhiker · 18/02/2010 20:27

I know - quiet today!!!

neenz a CM should be cheaper than a nursery for your two. Nurseries become cheaper once kids are old enough to get some of the cost funded by the government as their nursery 'school' - it's worth over £1000 per kid over the course of the year at that point.

PenguinNZ · 19/02/2010 01:59

Abdn - LOL at North Pole expedition.

Spider - Puddle iccident sounds very funny.

Neenz - Ry's bedtime is 8pm, mainly because it means he rarely gets up before 8am! [lazy mummy emoticon]

Question re: milk and bottles. I still give Ryder a bottle of milk pre his 2pm nap and his bedtime. Am I very behind, should I have dropped the bottle a long time ago? Do you still give your LO's milk at bedtime or not at all? I quite like the cuddle aspect of it and we read a book at the same time as well, but I'm wondering if I should drop the bottle...

Amberc · 19/02/2010 06:43

Oh God Luke is up at 5.30 these days so very jealous. Luke has a bottle of milk at bed and when he wakes and mid day. I have no intention of stopping as he enjoys it so much!

abdnhiker · 19/02/2010 08:04

We've just stopped breastfeeding here, which actually makes me very sad (not that I'm wanting to breastfeed Fraser at his age, but I am sad to say goodbye to the lovely cuddles of this baby stage (but not interested in having another baby - we couldn't cope!)). I think this is pretty much the same as having a bottle... What about switching to a sippy cup of milk? You could keep with that until he was three - giving maximum cuddle time

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 19/02/2010 12:31

We stopped bottles just a few days after S's 1st birthday. Tried to give him bedtime milk in a cup but he wasn't interested. Up till that point S wasn't great at drinking out of a cup, but as soon as the bottles stopped he got much better.

spongebrainbigpants · 19/02/2010 13:47

Marking my place.

And exactly the same as Domestic re: bottles. Couldn't be arsed to clean them anymore!

pureeandpearls · 19/02/2010 13:55

hello all- thanks for the congrats and for spreading the word. Home and cuddling little (ha- what did I do to deserve 8lbs?!)waiting for the MW visit. Still on crutches but early days. Will check in again soon but being sent off to bed by Granny!

SpiderWilliam · 19/02/2010 14:02

Just back from a lovely visit to Tedis house. P slept on the way home, but is now awake and it is only 2pm. Arghh! A long afternoon for me, I think.

P has half to 3/4 of a tomee tippee cup of milk at 7am, and before his bath in th evening. We do stories afterwards once his teeth are clean(ish). We never really got into bottles, so it has never been an issue.

neenz · 19/02/2010 14:54

I think if he enjoys the bottle and you enjoy it, keep doing it. My sis gave hers bottles till they were 2, she loved the cuddle time too. My two have a beaker of milk in their high chairs first thing in morning and at 6pm before bathtime - makes it much easier for me if I dont have to cuddle them while they drink!

My new work hours didn't go so well last night! The Cheryl/Ashley story meant a late page... they sent it at 8.30pm but I didn't see it drop in to the folder. They rang at 9.20pm to ask how I was doing with it - I said I haven't received it yet! Doh. It only took 20mins but meant I wasn't home till 10.30pm. I felt pretty dreadful by then too - I am getting headaches from staring at the computer, then I start to feel sick. I feel well today tho. I think there is something wrong with our office - the air seems so stale. The heating is broken and we only have one electric heater and I think that is the problem. I think I will mention it cos it might be a health and safety issue, if other people are suffering too. It might be poisoning us all! Overall tho the new work hours are great and it doesn't even feel like working really. I might even up my days to three after this baby . I still feel like I have had the day with the kids cos don't leave home till 1pm. I miss bathtime too which is always a good thing

DebInAustria · 19/02/2010 15:27

Just a quick hello to say thank goodness my Mum's arrived - tomorrow is Tristan's birthday, and also changeover day(14 out and 10 in), and the estate agent has called to say at 10 am she'll be bringing someone round to view - great!!I know I want viewings but tomorrow is hardly ideal!Sunday is T's snow party - it's currently 9 degrees and the snow's melting!!

SpiderWilliam · 19/02/2010 15:58

Good luck with that then Deb. Sounds horrific. Hope T enjoys his party.

Neenz, sorry to hear about your day yesterday, sounds as though overall you have found a good solution.
