That sounds like great news Amber . Fingers crossed for the next stage!

SpiderWilliam · 15/02/2010 15:24

Just a short one to say what encouraging news that is Amber. Fingers crossed for the next stage.

Tedi - sorry to hear about your colleague. You may remember that a former boss of mine has breast cancer and I was flattened by the news, can't imagine how shocked you must be feeling.

ktpie · 15/02/2010 15:55

Amber - it sounds like it's all gone well today, I hope the next stage is successful.

Sponge - congratulations on the house, I hope you manage to get yours sold quickly.

Tedi - I'm on ravelry with the same username (imaginative!) although I haven't updated it for ages, last time I tried it crashed.
Horrible news about your colleague, what a shock.

Neenz - I can sympathise with the pregnancy tiredness, I was shattered and I only had one toddler to run around after.

Deb - haven't got round to putting the photos on the computer, my SIL put a few on yesterday but not sure who can see them.

Abdn - job sounds good.

Any news from Puree?

I'm sure I've missed loads of people, I'm managing to read and keep up using my phone while I feed H but can't post from there so have to try and remember what I wanted to say.

I'm not doing too bad on my own but I'm totally failing to do anything round the house, just muddling along sorting me and the boys out. They are both asleep now but always seem to time it so that they both want my attention at the same time, getting used to sorting J out with the noise of a screaming baby in the background, or feeding H with J playing up.
We took them out in their buggy yesterday, round some garden centres, rock and roll! Went fine but don't feel adventurous enough to try on my own just yet. Plus stitches and pelvic floor still sore. Midwife came for a look today and brought a young male student nurse, thankfully left him downstairs holding H while she checked my stitches. Poor boy looked terrified when he had a baby dumped on him.

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 15/02/2010 16:56

ktpie I found it so liberating when S was a baby when I accepted that I couldn't do the housework to any kind of standard. As long as you all eat and have clean clothes nothing else really matters!

tedi I'm so sorry to read of your sad news.

abdnhiker · 16/02/2010 07:43

I tried to post last night but MN went down just as I was doing it and I can't remember what I said...

tedi don't be too hard on your student - babysitting can be a lot harder to organize than regular nursery childcare and we're already worried about getting 1-day a week cover for me... As for having another baby, maybe waiting and taking the chance of having difficulties is better than taking the chance of putting your career at risk - it really is a very personal decision but you have a lot emotionally invested at work and you shouldn't discount that at all. (Says the woman who's taking a job I wouldn't have considered pre-kids just because it's family friendly....)

ktpie muddling through sounds perfect at this stage. My pelvic floor wasn't in great shape after Fraser either - it's okay(ish) now though but it's taken a lot longer than with DS1.

fingers still crossed for Amber today...

spongebrainbigpants · 16/02/2010 10:31

Fingers crossed for good news from Amber, and some progress for puree too - must be soooo frustrating by now .

ktpie, yep muddling through sounds good - and I'll second what AH said about the pelvic floor. Two vaginal births and second degree tears have left it a little weak . Keeping on with the exercises though and hoping things improve!

tedi, thank you, maybe I will one day - once I've finished all my knitting projects!

PiggyPenguin · 16/02/2010 11:04

Just popping in to check on Amber and PP. Am a little worried about PP, I hope she has just forgotten to post, and hasn't been in labour for days.

Fingers crossed for the house Sponge

pureeandpearls · 16/02/2010 11:18

just popping in to say thanks for thinking of me-have been sent home for a rest day as they can't get me beyond 1cm. I'm utterly depressed and frustrated. Back to hospital this afternoon so hope to have news soon.......

neenz · 16/02/2010 11:41

Oh Puree, how frustrating. This might be a daft idea but have you tried visualisation techniques? My hypnobirthing book says you have to think of your cervix like a rose opening . I told you it was daft but I did it and it felt like it helped. Are you getting labour pains?

Abdn, that is such great news about your job, I hope it works out as you hope.

Tedi, I think it is totally normal to feel as you do and when you have worked so hard it is difficult to give it up, I am feeling like that with my job. I cannot bear to give it up even though I much prefer to be at home! How old are you? IIRC about 32? I think you can afford to wait 18m, but only you can make the decision that seems right for you.

SpiderWilliam · 16/02/2010 13:06

Just a quick message to offer my sympathies to Puree. I saw yesterday that you were playing farmville on FB, and assumed that nothing much was happening. Poor you. It must be rubbish.

Neenz it is interesting what you say about visualisation. I have often thought that if I have another and decide against a c-section, then I would need to get the VBAC hypnobirthing CDs as when I was pg I really didn't believe that a vaginal birth was possible. I do wonder whether this is why I had an induction and an emergency C-section. On the other hand though, after P was born, the MW came and told me that a vaginal birth would never have worked because P was in an awkward position with his chin up. A nurse has suggested to me that maybe my body and intuition kind of "knew" that it wasn't possible and so labour didn't start.

Amberc · 16/02/2010 13:11

Hi all quick and selfish post but I have an embryo! Just one mind but I have one and it's going in tomorrow. London meet up people please do colliers wood as I'm just going to chill out this week.

Purée hope today everything happens for you Hun and you have dome new feet to put those uraguayan booties on!!

Upsidedowncake · 16/02/2010 13:53

Just popping in:

Amber, wow fabulous - that's great. YOu must be very glad that you took the chance. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Puree, I'm sorry that the induction isn't working out. I've been there and it can be so disappointing - plus all the hassle about what you do with your first child and so on, and all the reoganising. Keep busy and cheerful if you can. What is the plan next?

Abdn, glad you are home safely and didn't feel too unclever in the morning. It was lovely seeing you.

Tediber, ha. Told you! When did you stop feeding? It's awful that you now have a career / life dilemma though. Could the career be postponed?

neenz · 16/02/2010 13:54

Amber that's fab news - the absolute best of luck to you for implantation. When do you find out whether it has taken? What an agonising wait.

Spider, what made you think a vaginal birth wasn't possible? Was it just normal fears and worries about childbirth or some family history? My friend was really hoping for a VBAC with her third (after twins) but didn't go into labour and had to have a section. She was disappointed but they later found the baby had a fused bone in his spine and going through a vaginal birth could have killed him. So her body did the right thing too.

I would recommend the hypnobirthing CDs and Ina May Gaskin's Guide To Childbirth has a good section on VBAC IIRC.

PiggyPenguin · 16/02/2010 15:03

Fantastic news Amber, hope all goes to plan for tomorrow.

Poor you P&P. It is just so disheartening when your bloody cervix refuses to open. When I had ds1 I laboured for 24 hours only to get to 1 cm, I was so upset when they told me I just sobbed!

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 16/02/2010 18:21

Great news Amber - got everything crossed for you.

Puree - hope things start moving along soon!

DebInAustria · 16/02/2010 19:48

Hope you're way too busy having your baby to read this Puree

Amber, keeping everything crossed for you.

SpiderWilliam · 16/02/2010 19:53

Nice one Amber. Loads of luck for the next few days.

Neenz, no, no particular reason, apart from me being a loon . When I hold newborn babies, at some level I still find it unfeasible that they emerge from women's fanjos.

spongebrainbigpants · 16/02/2010 20:22

Lol spider - I agree . (With your comment about fanjos, not being a loon!)

Amber, single embryos are very very special .

Sounds like puree is having a rough time and my heart goes out to her .

PenguinNZ · 17/02/2010 08:08

Quick check in:

Great news Amber.

KTPie - Sod the housework!

Sorry to hear about your friend Tedi.

Got everything crossed that things speed up for you Puree.

Spider & Sponge - LOL at the newborn/fanjo thing.

We've got a new kitten. I told DH that Amber had got a couple so many times, he caved. He's just 8 weeks old and so cute. Mad as anything tho, so should fit in here just fine.

ktpie · 17/02/2010 08:09

Spider - I asked DH last night if H had grown a lot since he was born as I can't see how I managed to give birth to him. He has put on a few ounces but is a fairly similar size to when he was born, he's just stretched out a bit now.

Amber - sounds like good news to me, hope the rest of the week goes well.

Puree - How frustrating, hope things start moving soon.

The health visitor is coming this morning, then some friends are coming to visit this afternoon so a busy day for us.

neenz · 17/02/2010 10:19

lol Spider! It is quite amazing isn't it. You'd definitely get a lot out of Ina May Gaskin's Guide To Childbirth I think.

Igglepiggle has ruined my life! E demands I put it on all the time, about four times a day

But I am so proud of T, we have a colours book and he can say almost all the colours without me even prompting him. And he learns so quick. Yesterday morning he knew about half of them and I was teaching him the others. Then when my mum came round last night she read it with him and he knew almost all of them. [shameless boast] E is not bothered tho - she only likes ITNG (the ninky nonk seems to be overtaking igglepiggle in her affections though!)

DomesticGoddessInTraining · 17/02/2010 12:48

Well done T neenz . S has gone off ITNG it's all about Timmy Time now. He loves dancing around the living room to the theme tune. I was ridiculously proud of him yesterday too incidentally. He's got a book that has loads of jungle animals in it and was doing all the sounds himself. It's such a good age I think.

Am not going to ask puree how's she's doing as she must be going demented by now if there's no news

Biscuits and Bugger where are you? I dont think I've seen a post for ages from you both.

Amberc · 17/02/2010 13:34

Hi all - now I'm warning you in advance that for the next two weeks I will be a mad loon unable to post anything other than selfish posts. (I have not heard owt fromPuree so am hoping she is in labour by now).

It's all done - I jave an embryo in me who now needs to decide to stick around. The lovely embryologist said she'd given him a stern talking to this morning which is good. I have a 4 cell grade 1 embryo which is 'perfect'. I said it's all up to me now but they said no it's up to the embryo and there is nothing whatsoever I can do to help matters. Got two weeks to wait now which will be agony. They gave me a picture of my embryo which threw me into fits of tears. I wish Mark had come. Hey ho - it's all done now. I'm going for a lie down now for 2 weeks

abdnhiker · 17/02/2010 15:00

Amber I think you're allowed Fingers crossed for you...

having a tired day here - and DS1 has tons of energy and a lack of listening ears. He begged to help me wash the kitchen floor but as soon as my back was turned, started washing the adjacent playroom wood floor - with oodles of water. F is asleep so DS1 is parked in front of the TV....

neenz · 17/02/2010 16:24

Sounds like fun Abdn!

Amber, fingers crossed so badly for you. The 2ww is bad enough when you are just ttc normally but with IVF it must be absolute agony. It sounds like they think there is every chance this is a sticky one .

DG, It's great when they do the animal noises isn't it - T and E love 'ssss' for a snake, 'roar' for lion, 'croak' for frog and 'ooh ooh' for monkey (guess what their fave book is ). T is so funny though because he tries to do the monkey action (hands under armpits) but turns his hands outwards rather than in
