If you're going to have a sleepless night, if you stayed in, you would just be up tending to the DC or awake at home anyway, surely?
I think you should still go out (just not too late, maybe?) just to get away for some fresh air and change of scenery. Is it a long evening with a lot planned or a a meal? I'd just do the meal, maybe some wine and come home just for a break and some time together. Does that sound good?

That sounds like an awful night Myjob. I hope you can still manage your night out. Especially if you've been looking forward to it for a while.

Why oh why oh why do I shop at Ikea? It always puts me in such a bad mood. We bought a little table and chair for ds. We've got home and the table top is very flimsy and damaged. We also bought a picture frame for a lovely picture to go in his part of the bedroom. I checked with the assistant that the "glass" bit is plastic, rather than glass so we bought it. Got it home, it fell over and all the glass has smashed everywhere. It's not bloody plastic at all. Grrrr!

We did get a very nice kitchen clock but unfortunately it makes the walls look filthy.

oh aubergenie - we are headed to the one in croydon very very soon! ahhhh I can't spend anything but DH has something he needs. I do not like it there... but Q does, so it should be fun for him.

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/01/2010 14:48

Just a quickie from in-laws. Tried to post from phone on way here but signal was rubbish and then it all crashed on me.

Agree with pistachio re your night out myjob.
Ouch for teeth - dd was a nightmare when she got her canines - def the worst ones for her, which really surprised me. I thought that being points they would just bash on through easily!

Night out was to a friend's house. We have started a pudding club, and it was our first meeting. Naughty but yum!

Trust you will complain about the picture frame aubergenie.

We'll meet once a month or so. Diff person hosts each time, but same people come. Host provides 3 puddings - home made or bought, and everyone stuffs their face (and has wine/coffee/soft drinks as they prefer) and chats for the evening, and then all go home full

Pudding club sounds yum!

It's this one Pistachio. The table top is really flimsy and already damaged. I really can't face taking it back. I think I'm just going to cover it in some oilcloth to cover up the marks.

I knwo I should complain CSWS but I just haven't got the time to go all the way back there. Customer service in Ikea is so awful and I can't prove that the woman told me it was plastic. I'll just get a bit of perspex from Ebay and do it myself.

We spent an amazing amount of time at Ikea. Q thought he'd made it to disney world. He had a BLAST. We bought one table for 9.99 on sale but it was a fun day out for Q (how sad are we??) I de-germed him very well when we got to the car and when we got home. yuck yuck yuck disgusting!!

pudding club sounds like such a good idea! mmmm I might suggest that in my area maybe with colleagues, too fun!

DH is being really lovely lately and doing everything right but I can't get enough of my own space I feel really horrible about it .

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/01/2010 21:47

Can I just say to all the cake ladies, that you MUST make the chocolate heartache, and you must leave it overnight before you eat it. Fuck me it's delicious now!

KSal · 23/01/2010 22:04

right... that's it.... i've ordered the book!

aubergenie · 23/01/2010 22:11

That's a turnaround CSWS. Will definitely give it a try. Has anyone made the sunken apricot almond cake? I think that might be my next venture.

Glad your Ikea trip was more successful than ours Star. My day got worse. The car ran out of petrol, so I had to walk about a mile to the garage with a cannister to get some more. And two people I offered stuff to on Freecycle didn't show up. I'm really fed up with Freecycle now as it seems to be full of timewasters. Gah! Still could be worse.

I hope you're out Myjob!

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/01/2010 22:24

Yes I've made that one aubergenie. Gets a huge thumbs up from me!

So does my Mum CSWS. She's coming this week, so I think I'll make it for her. Thanks.

Star - I have to say it didn't occur to me to de-germ S after our trip today. Is Ikea Croydon particularly scummy?

ronshar · 23/01/2010 22:39

I am making Banoffee pie. Right now I am waiting for the condensed milk.
Then I am going to eat most of it at my mums tomorrow.

Myjob I hope you went out tonight. You need a break.

CSWS stay away from the puddings lady.....

Pistachio. Nice run. & HOW many teeth??

Aubergenie, nice fridge full of weirdo veg.

Star, you sound like me with the baking. I am often the only one who eats my cakes.

50ft. I would go to the dinner. Eat as much as you want as it is only ONE meal and then the next day go for a really long walk to make up for it. Two for the price of one really.

CantSleepWontSleep · 23/01/2010 22:42

Mmmmmm banoffee pie.
