DH nearly always are. Its called anything for a quiet life. Lucky you didnt have a girl.

StarExpat · 11/01/2010 12:49

I thank my lucky stars every day that Q is a boy just judging by what I deal with at school daily! Supposed to be writing reports!! pesky MN!

50ftQueenie · 11/01/2010 12:58

Just a quick visit as I had to comment to Ronshar - I was sorely tempted to double bag him to avoid the accidental number three!

StarExpat · 11/01/2010 13:20

I am so happy for csws Because I really like her.
But I'm not at all. I would be scared of having to give birth again!

Ekka · 11/01/2010 14:00

I hope you get to hear the heartbeat as well CSWS - lucky thing.

Ronshar, I'm surprised you are still sane, and based on all the mums I've spoken to, everyone is glad to get their kids back to school

So I've turned on Bob the Builder as I just dozed off when reading our only Bob book to the kids . In my defence, it isn't the greatest book we have. Off to make myself some coffee now though!

CantSleepWontSleep · 11/01/2010 14:25

How on earth did you manage to fall asleep reading Ekka?! I would have had the book grabbed from my hands and been bashed over the head with it repeatedly until I woke! Mind you, ds won't actually sit still to be read to at all yet, so it's just not going to happen anyway!

Heard the heartbeat . Dd seemed to find it all quite interesting too. Star - the giving birth bit is the bit I find easiest! Not easy mind, but compared to actually raising children it's a doddle!

50ft - is the jury still out on whether you're planning a 3rd at all or not?

I'm afraid that I am very smug when out and about in the snow with my buggy. I was in town the other day and this woman was waiting at a pedestrian crossing. When the lights changed she tried to push her little stroller over the road through a small pile of slush, and it took her nearly the whole light change just to get started. She then struggled every step along the pavement. I meanwhile sauntered over the lights and up the road with ds in the mountain buggy. It's just not bothered by these conditions at all!

Pepper - have just spotted your new fb profile pic - you look like a completely different person to your previous pic!

CSWS - to be fair I probably only dozed, but the words kind of disappeared and I only surfaced when dd yelled in my ear - 'mummy read the next bit!'....

However, the caffeine has kicked in and the kids are doing playdough to give me a few mins peace.

StarExpat · 11/01/2010 15:19

LOL Ekka!
I used to yawn all the time during read aloud in class while pg!

Pepper you do look different on the fb pic!

I'm taking Q to the dr again today. Apparently he's been catatonic all day He's sleeping so much in the day because of being unwell lately that he's up between 2am-5am I am sooooooo exhausted!

pepperrabbit · 11/01/2010 16:17

lordy Ekka - the words "playdough" and "peace" never appear in the same sentence in our house!

Ekka · 11/01/2010 16:28

Well we have now lost some, probably it will turn up spread around on the base of shoes and nicely ground into cushions/carpets, so I shouldn't have spoken too soon

Hope you enjoyed coped with a days separation from your kids

pepperrabbit · 11/01/2010 16:31

I am a new woman - as evidenced by my fb photo clearly!

Honeymoonmummy · 11/01/2010 19:03

Hey all, sorry I didn't get time to post again but I'm afraid to say I caved (with pressure from DH) and got Pops at 1. And she was absolutely fine and they showed me photos they'd taken of her grinning like a loon all day Manipulative Little Madam. . Which meant she was there for 5 hours so 8 hours on Weds should be OK.

BUT I did get my report done [YAY] because my mum looked after Poppy. Will find out on Weds if it's the pile of tut I think it is.... I am feeling much better though, just from the first day being over and my report being submitted. I've arranged for a tel appt with my doc tomorrow to see if she thinks I should up the AD's for a few weeks. But I had planned to start reducing them from the start of Jan...

Yay CSWS on hearing the heartbeat! Are you going to find out the sex? I might have already asked you that...

Has anyone made their own playdoh? I've not got round to it. DH was working all last weekend but he's saying he's free next weekend [crosses fingers] so we can do something nice as a family

Oh and Poppy has started tonight saying something vaguely resembling two and three when we say one! I didn't believe it when DH told me till I heard it!! We're always saying 1,2,3 when we get her out of the bath. It's amazing what they pick up, isn't it??!

Gotta start getting the email backlog down tomorrow, sigh...

Sorry, yet another post mainly about me Hope you're all well. Sounds like DH and Poppy nearly finished in the bath so best go tidy. Might be back inna bit.

Oh how exciting CSWS. I'm so happy for you!

I make playdough for school sometimes. If you google playdough recipe there are loads. I make mine in the microwave. Apparently the cream of tartar is the crucial ingredient.

HMM - I'm glad Poppy had a good day. S toddled into the CM's house without even a tear today.

What did the doc say, Star?

I used the same recipe as pistachio (in fact I suspect I might have linked the thread for her when she wanted to make it!). Mine is still going strong 2.5 yrs later!!!!

Oh and no, not planning to find out the sex this time hmm. Happy with either, and figure it's my last chance to get a surprise on the day!

Great, a good recipe for playdough. I had a no-cook recipe which was ok for a few goes but a bit too crumbly really.

CSWS - great news, did you find out the sex with the other two (can't remember back to last year whether you did with D or not)? Might as well keep one surprise for the day!

Myjob, have you changed anything like washing powder recently that could have affected N? Even if you haven't eczema does flare up in the winter, so hopefully her skin will settle down soon. We've found with M that as long as we moisturise morning and night (plus at nappy changes if he's really bad) and always use hydromol in his bath, we can keep it under control. But if N is uncomfy, do get to the docs for hydrocortisone, it makes such a difference in a really short space of time. The one really useful tip we were given is to keep using the hydrocortisone for 3 days after the redness has gone down, to ensure that the deeper layers of skin are sorted as well otherwise the eczema will just come back quickly. You probably know all this already of course . I do hope N's skin isn't bothering her too much.

HMM, its great that Poppy had fun. But its always hard to leave them when they are crying, so I'm not surprised you wanted to collect her early!

Aubergenie, I'm glad S is settled now. I remember the day dd dashed off into the cm's house without any fuss or even a goodbye, I wasn't sure whether to be thrilled or a little miffed that she clearly wasn't fussed at saying goodbye (definite pfb moment there...)

Pepper - I love that picture. You both look fantastic and so happy... I don't really have any decent recent photos of me

I did find out with the other 2, yes. Wanted to know with dd (figured that there would be enough excitement on the day with her being first child and all that), and wasn't going to find out with ds, but then when I was diagnosed with gd and knew that I'd be getting extra scans, I figured that I'd never manage to resist finding out at all of them, so we found out at 20 weeks.

The coconut cake definitely.
And I like the almond and apricot one.
And the tiny almondy ones that I made for ds' birthday - can't remember what they were called now.
And the ginger sticky toffee thing is good for a pudding if you like your puddings dense.
