Happy 2010 everyone! Cast your mind back to this time last year... [soppy]

Too much wine - excuse for thread title should it be shite rubbish when I read it tomorrow. Thought it was time to wave goodbye to the festive one, although perhaps we should have waited for epiphany?

Good grief, now there are more of you mad fools back for more punishment!!

How exciting, I will be glued to the screen till the 18th!!!

Well, I would be if my huge lump of a boy hadn't suceeded in totally putting my back out with all his night wakenings and putting him in and out of cot about 500 times in the last 3 days

books - yes. Work will be there in a few weeks years, your dd will be too cool and want to go to town on her own by then. Hold your nerve, even if it turns out to be not for you you can always go back to some job somewhere. Where as if it works the other way, the young childhood days are gone. No going back.

I went into work today. Put a few requests in etc. I felt like an alien from Mars that had landed on Jupiter. Earth where my babies were seemed miles away.

Of course you should mutter! It must be weird and scary to be walking away. The great thing about work is that if and when you go back it will all still be there.

Sorry, I was really insensitive posting about my trip to work today, it was just my train of thought

Shame you can't keep the laptop though, great for bedtime mning!

Dogstar a great name!

Lenni · 15/01/2010 22:11

Lenni was used by someone yonks ago too Dog - hence why I had to beg to have it! I heart HelenMumsnet though who took pity on me I feel very special to have my name!

Tree - I will email you now for lends of the magic all - will PP you postage. My email is [email protected] if you can work out who I am on facebook to add my names! Might be difficult! No news as yet on sleep clinic although I think I recall her being referred by GP and HV. Will let you know name of place as soon as hear back.

HKZ/Gumps - I am so excited for you! And also that you are managing enough sex to be a chance of being pg! I have finally seems glimpses of my libido returning since I gave up bf last week.

Not sure if I mentioned that yet but DS went on nursing strike after new year, he was still taking night feeds but then he started refusing those or not getting enough so I fed him the night of his first birthday and then just stopped offering and he didn't show any signs of being interested (previous he would pull my top down) so that was that. 12 months and a day we lasted.

120cms · 16/01/2010 00:15

Lenni, congrats on winning name battle and sorry/pleased for you that nursing is over. I think when they choose it is the best way but it is soooo sad.

HZ & Gumps very excited for you.

Lovely evening out, so last glass of wine, then bed.

Dogstar is a fab name. I used to be a bit obsessed with both it and Orion when I was little, but that is a whole 'nother story.

night all.

treedelivery · 16/01/2010 00:51

Moose - forgot I had this, just found it next to bed under pile of crap empty biscuit tins nothing at all.

There is an Autism research unit in Sunderland, at the uni. A man called Paul Shattock runs the research there, and you may know about him as ther have been a few threads so his name crops up on mn. The unit have published a booklet called Autism as a Metabolic Disorder: Guidelines for Gluten and Casein-free Dietry Intervention.

I thought this might be of interest to you. The guy is a total star, I spoke to him way back when we realise dd2 was dairy intolerant and I was stressing about MMR. The booklet is £4 and available from The Faculty of Applied SCiences, Uni of Sunderland, SR1 3SD.

Please ignore if a daft idea I have no idea about your ds1 of course, but I know you were persuing a gluten free intervention, and so this might be of interest to you and even the consultant.

hackneyzoo · 16/01/2010 11:06

morning, the weather is totally pants here, am about to take doga nd DCs for a walk, very reluctantly as DH is at work.
Boobs are killing me today, but have a bit of tummy ache too, which makes me think I am prementstrual....which is actually a slight relief as DH and I had decided to go for number three, but thought we'd wait until Jude was sorted and well on the road to recovery....so we shall see. Still got huge sore boobs though, which is unusual for me

120, I might head up to MOC a bit later....are you guys about?

Lenni, One year and one day is pretty amazing! Its quite emotional stopping (but also quite a relief, well it was for me!)

120cms · 16/01/2010 13:10

HZ, can't wait to find out if you are. have been feeling broody, but no way doing it at such order again. Not quite sure what we are doing yet as were planning to go to the aquarium (last minute do tickets after 3pm for £9.50 per adult), but can't book on the day. pants. will txt you shortly!

120cms · 16/01/2010 13:21

By the way, has anyone else tried giving the crawling babies a couple of walnuts to play with? It's hilarious. H has been doing experiments with them for around 15 mins now. They don't roll as fast as balls and are easier to pick up.

treedelivery · 16/01/2010 13:59

missjackson · 16/01/2010 16:15

Hi everyone! Have been attempting to keep up with the thread, but have been so horribly busy. But am on tenterhooks waiting to see if we have some more jan 09 siblings on the way!

2 more weeks to go... in 2 weeks time this will be over. Am and at the thought; it's been great fun but such ridiculously hard work - 14 hour shifts, 5.30am starts and a lot of stress. But exciting, adult, fun time too. Just wish there was some sort of balance.

N still feeding though! Lenni congratulations on the end of feeding - feels weird to say that I suppose, but I just think it's so nice that it just sort of happened naturally, led by DS. N shows no sign whatsoever of wanting to give up... however, the result of me going back to work and not feeding for long periods finally saw my AF come back! That wasn't fun... so I guess now we will see what happens. In truth, I would rather wait another 6 months before it does.

Well just wanted to say hi really - will be back properly in 2 weeks time - N is one on the 29th and we are having the party on the 31st - wanted to give it a miss but everyone else insisted

PatTheHammer · 16/01/2010 18:15

Hey everyone, bookmarking.

DH out tonight so will have lots of time to read thread in a bit.

Z also gone to bed already! DD staying at MIL's so feel a bit lonely really

Back in a bit!

Gumps · 16/01/2010 20:35

Hi MissJ. I am glued to CBB and haven't watched it in years. Such an interesting mix of characters, you must be having so much fun.
DH out here too Pat. And he was out last night too but all rugby which pays the mortgage so can't really complain. TBH rather he stayed out as they lost a huge game today and he will be foul.
Did a test this morning and it was negative. Think I am about 4 days early in testing and didn't do morning wee. God I am so impatient! Had really bad cramps today though so thinking I am not but boobs killing too. HKZ did you go back on and then come oof the pill too? Wondering if it is just my body adapting. Reason I thought I might be pg was that I have had that odd taste in my mouth. Anyway trying not to become too obsessed with it which is obviously difficult.
S only just gone down which is quite unlike him as he ususally goes down fine and then wakes up.
Sorry I am being incredibly boring. Off to watch last nights CBB and will pop back if my chat gets any better....

PatTheHammer · 16/01/2010 21:17

Hi Gumps, sorry for your -ve test, you sound disappointed but it is early days and you never know! Plus if its your first month off the pill you may not ovulate (can take up to 6 months on some pills iirc). Odd taste in mouth is one of the signs I had with DS though............

Hi MissJ- good to know that its all going well. I bet you will miss it all in a few weeks but not before you have enjoyed a well-earned rest with dp and N. Boo to peroids though! I am having a crappy time with mine atm and am very close to marching to the gps and demanding the coil as I am sick of it, they are so much heavier than they were before DC's.
With feeding I have to say I rather envy Lenni as a few weeks back it was all looking good and Z only taking a short morning and evening feed. So I was thinking it would be mega-easy to substitute a cup of milk in the morning and then phase out the evening feed as and when. Well, over the past few weeks Z has been a teething nightmare and has doubled or sometimes trebled the amount of feeds he has, currently on 4 a day and one at night again. I feel it is such a backward setp and that we were on the way to phasing out completly. Worse stil, I now have loads more milk and have started to lea again, grrrrrrrrrrrr!
I still love feeding him but I was looking forward to the end n sight (without having to 'make' him do it IYSWIM).

Tink- Have a lovely party tomorrow

Moose- Hope party went well and wasn't too stressful

Stripey- Hope C has a great birthday tomorrow, I loved her little Elmo photo albumn on FB!.

Books- its a hard decision eother way, but you are doing the right thing. Tree is right it will always be there when the DC's older. FWIW, I would give my right arm to quit or even just cut my hours but no chance ATM.

HZ- Any sign of AF yet????

Where is Dogstar??????? It would be so much better is you could just have Dog, you should do some begging like Lenni

anyhow, I must go back to lying down, back still awfully bad (can't bath the DC's or do DS's nappy on my own) but painkillers give me a nice floaty feeling

PatTheHammer · 16/01/2010 21:19

sorry for all the typos, keyboard yet another thing on the big broken list of stuff in our house[sigh]

treedelivery · 16/01/2010 21:26

OOO yes, odd taste. Had lots of that. Horrible too. Am sorry it was negative Gumps. It will be positive one of these days.

Nearly there MissJ - enjoy it and look forward to the end. Great combo!

Forgot to say to lenni, well done on the 1 year 1 day. Brilliant isn't it?

Pat - I didn't realise your back was so bad. Oh no!!!

treedelivery · 16/01/2010 22:28

We have run out of dd's formula! We have enough for maybe 2 x 8 oz bottles. I forgot to go on Friday

Have bought oat milk, it's only going to amount to a few feeds so it isn't like she will be depleted in all minerals in that time. Lets hope she will drink it!

What a terrible thing to do! It's sat at the chemist, I just can't get to it!

PatTheHammer · 16/01/2010 22:33

Oh no tree! Hope she drinks the oat milk.

Yep, back is bad, DH very helpful and sympathetic but he just doesn't have the compulsion to pick stry toys and clothes up off the floor so I end up doing it and....OUCH!

moosemama · 16/01/2010 22:35

Evening all,

Have just quickly read thread, retained some, but not much.

Gather all eyes, ears etc are on Gumps and HKZ at the moment. All very exciting, am feeling oddly about it all, but think its the whole pregnancy, antenatal thing rather than wanting another baby iyswim.

Sorry to hear of your problems with pre-school Gumps. I often find my boys are vile a day or two before them come down with something nasty as well. Like you I then feel like the worst mummy in the world for not realising, but we are not psychic and can only go on the information to hand. Try to be kinder to yourself, you are a great Mum.

Tree, thanks for information about the Sunderland centre. Have read a lot of stuff on their website prior to deciding to try the gluten free diet with ds1. We were thinking about sending for their test kit before the paediatrician said he would organise the ceoliac test.

Mad crazy few days here. Came down with a really nasty sinus infection on Thursday. Great timing for dd's birthday and family party on Friday and all the prep for todays do.

Who was it who said my Great Nephew wouldn't come this weekend so it would be fine to hold the party? Well the little man decided to put in an appearance 10 minutes before dd's birthday at 11.50 pm on Thursday after giving his poor mum a really long, tough labour. He is lovely was 7lb 7.5oz and has been very quiet so far (probably due to the numpty midwife giving my neice pethidine half an hour before he was born, despite her stating that she didn't want it!)

Friday went well, dd was very smiley and sociable for a change, delighting Grannies and Great Grannies alike. Only slight downer was that ds1 didn't cope very well with so many people in our tiny lounge and I failed to pick up on the signals [guilty Mum emoticon]. Aftewards he told dh that all the people and noise made him feel funny and tired and he didn't like the feeling.

Obviously we were worried about how he would cope with 25 people today, but in the event he was fine, as there ended up being 7 children and they all trooped up to play in the boys' bedroom together.

Party planning was a disaster thanks to losing a day being poorly. Whole thing was exacerbated by two of dh's mates deciding to turn up the night before, sleep in the lounge and then spend all day sat on their bums getting in the way, making a mess and not helping at all! I was up till 1.30 am baking and making rainbow jellies, then stood up in the kitchen from 8.30 am until 5.00 pm without anything to eat or drink!

I had to decorate the cake in half an hour while guests were arriving! Didn't look too bad considering, but I was really disappointed that it wasn't as good as it could/should have been.

Think everyone had a good time, last guests didn't leave till almost 9pm and the party started at 3.00!

Oh yes, our camera has decided to die, so my sister took some pictures and is going to email them to me. I'll put some on my profile as soon as I can.
