Happy 2010 everyone! Cast your mind back to this time last year... [soppy]

Too much wine - excuse for thread title should it be shite rubbish when I read it tomorrow. Thought it was time to wave goodbye to the festive one, although perhaps we should have waited for epiphany?

No time to respond to everything, but HZ, glad you finally have some information, sorry that it does still sound rather worrying. Hope that they can get started on the treatment ASAP and that it all goes well.

lovely pics misssparkle!

I am absolutely finished. shit night and shit morning. so difficult to entertain babies on no sleep. remember feeling like this with just DD. I think 1 is a really hard age to keep amused and really boring as you can't do anything for yourself at all. agggghh. plus ruddy toddlers behaving like 15 year olds. 'mummy, you are not to talk to me like that'. 'stop what you are doing and go and find squiglet. now'. 'mama, are you listening to me?' whatever next. actually. don't answer that!

treedelivery · 13/01/2010 14:46

OOOOOOOOOOH. H has dropped off in my arms and I have to put her down and get ready for school run. So unfair!! Especially on her. SHe gets such broken sleep. SHe can't sleep now till 6, because there is no one to settle her. I have to spend time with dd1, and settling H means lying in bed. ARSE!

Haven't read but I see 120 is tired and fed up. It will feel better tomorrow. It nearly always does.

Will be back later but just popped in to say that the swine flu jab yesterday was ok (they both cried but DS shut up when I gave him a banana). However, DS has a very loose bum today, DD fine though.

Snowed in again today, although starting to melt this evening thankfully...............DD has not been to pre-school since before xmas and kicked off big time when I got the phone call this morning. I do hope she is still like that about school when she is 15!

treedelivery · 13/01/2010 19:55

Gaaawd bless you darling dog she's eat the mattress to find and escape route.

To be fair, I can sometimes put her in it if she is in a deep deep deep sleep. She will only go one sleep cycle though, so as soon as she shuffles or anything, she is up and standing and yelling - still half asleep.

Glad they are ok Pat. Got letter about meningitis jab as well today. I'm a bit freaked out by it all.

This is a prime example. I put H down to type this post, she is now stood in cot. In the time it took to tye this she has gone from dead sleep to dead on her feet but awake.

No you're normal. I don't cope, I limp along and tell myself it's all going to get better very soon. Hence general disintegration of home, life, looks nad relationships with meaningful others. Dd1 in particular, who has been very very good about it all. I miss dd1 so much though!

I've been perched in this bed for dd2's naps for a year now and it is getting boring. I'd have lost my mind if we didn't have a laptop. for sure.

Dh has taken her downstairs to settle her, I think he could see me reach the wall.
Hey ho.

moosemama · 13/01/2010 20:34

Evening

Well, what a totally crap day. All the pallaver at the school this morning, picked the boys up and 1.45 envisaging happy faces and boys pleased to be going home early only to be asked, "Why do we have to go home now? We were having ICT" (ds1) and told "But we were having a fun day" (ds2) several other children there were also voicing similar complaints. Last time I didn't go and get them till the end of school and was told off because "everyone else's parents came and fetched them early". Can't win really can I?

Got home, planning a nice couple of hours making rainbow paper chains for dd's party, as the boys had been really looking forward to it. Sadly it was not to be. Ds1 had a tantrum just because ds2 asked to take some of the chain in for show and tell next week. Cue a meltdown of major proportions which, by the end of it, led to me losing my temper big style and being a very shouty Mummy. It got worse and went on for ages ending with ds1 being put to bed. I then sobbed on the phone to dh and then my Mum, took a deep breath and went upstairs for a very long chat with him. Basically its all down to his ASD, he can't help it, but its so hard to deal with and sometimes it just gets on top of me.

Anyway, we are all friends again and they boys are now asleep. Tomorrow's a new day and all that.

Had a shopping accident the other day. A dress for dd to wear for her rainbow party. here. I'm really pleased with it. The colours across the bottom are all little pockets, its so cute. Not technically an accident either really as dd already had some birthday money from her GPs.

I'm really behind on my to do list now and fretting slightly about whether or not I can manage to get everything the way I want it for Saturday. That's if anyone actually makes it with the weather as it is. We have people coming from all over the country.

Oh and its still snowing here, but the council and school websites are saying they are open tomorrow. There were only 11 children in ds1's and 7 in ds2's class today - no excuse really as the school was open and they all live within easy walking distance.

treedelivery · 13/01/2010 20:38

Oh Moose love. Bless you that is a crappy day.

You are worrying about the party because you have had a hard one and can't stop feeling anxious. Party is fine, you have it sorted, all will be well.

Dress is lovely lovely. Please stop introducing me to sites as I have no spends

Boxes have arrived! They are a bit small and a bit shallow really, but they are also a good price and a gift to remember a special time. So all good.

moosemama · 13/01/2010 20:38

Save a straightjacket for me Tree!

moosemama · 13/01/2010 20:44

Sorry Tree. I have no spends either. Am feeding my shopping habit spending dd's birthday money.

I guess the boxes don't actually have to contain that much, just enough to be evocative of certain times/feelings etc. I think they're a lovely idea.

He he he! Dh is chasing our lurcher round the garden. He's never seen this much snow and is so delighted that he's refusing to come in! Bless him, he's cheered me right up. Better not leave him out there for too long though, he's a strip of wind and has a really thin coat. Daft animal. (The dog that is, not DH.)

PatTheHammer · 13/01/2010 20:51

Tree- your gifts sound really lovely. I wish I had the time and the imagination to do stuff like that for my two. I second dog that you are a complete saint and my patience would have worn out long ago. It is wearing thin today after two bad nights with the Z-man. He is certainly on his last warning tonight.

Moose- lovely dress. I bet the party will be fine and you will enjoy it more if you relax easier said than done I know! Hope the weather eases up for the weekend, the forecast is rain but warmer temps so hopefully your guests can make it. What a crappy day with the school runs etc. We were asked to go in at 11am today to help dig the school out, to which my response was not enthusiastic since I have DD and DS with me!!.

dog- Think you are right about Isla's weight and she just needs a catch up. Glad you are feeling better.

Books and moose- I think you two have just got to prepare yourself for the fact that it is purely a female thing. DD is and was a nutter and she was a first-born! It is just girls that are fearless/stroppy/attention seeking babies and toddlers imo.

Lovely pics Mssparkle, he is a tall lad! Hope he had a good birthday.

Anyways, just to let you know that a good friend of mine (I think I mentioned her a while back) who has had 2 quite late MC's since her DS who is the same age as DD has just safely delivered her DS2 at 9.46am this morning. So pleased for them as they have waited a lonnnnnnnng time to hold this baby, he is very precious!

120cms · 13/01/2010 20:58

Dog on the mayo front, it helps if you start with all ingredients at room temp. It also helps if you use a food proc, but don't over beat. You can just whisk it in a bowl too. It takes a while though.

2 egg yolks
1/2 lemon juice
1/2 tsp dijon mustard
pinch salt
olive oil

mix all the first lot, then keep drizzling the oil and beating. Don't worry if it separates a bit, stop adding oil and beat like billy-o.

120cms · 13/01/2010 20:59

i can't be arsed these days and buy Sainsbury's french mayo as I just love the taste of it. But sometimes, only home made will do...

treedelivery · 13/01/2010 21:05

I haven't read the thread at all, can only apologise. Ama bit dribbly tonight. DH has taken dd2 to Sainsbury in despair disgust.
We were meant to be knicking the playroom telly and watching a dvd in bed with some food - 1st time in yers and years and years. Looks like we wil have a small guest. Ah well.

This time last year I was just comin goff annula leave and starting maternity leave proper. Sigh.

VeryHungryLennipillar · 13/01/2010 21:09

Can't stop as got to prepare for interview tomorrow but Tree do you know that there is a sleep clinic somewhere near you that sees babies? If I'm guessing right where 'near you' is then I know someone who was referred there with her DS - his sleep issues although a little unusual weren't in H's league really. Might be worth a shot.

Oh, and they didn't tell her to do CC - it was all very supportive iirc.

treedelivery · 13/01/2010 21:30

Email or CAT me Lenni!!! Plus you want lends of a nappy.

So postman came with interviews Fantastic!

tree - sleep sounds a pain

got dd1 2 school today

school is starting to melt here

moosemama · 14/01/2010 17:54

Hi Tink

No, stupidly didn't go to the GP's as was feeling so much better and really getting on with things last week. I know I should go, but its such a pita getting there and when I'm on a good day I talk myself out of it. [stoopid Moose emoticon]

Such a shame that ds1's problems can bring me right down to rock bottom sometimes, but have had a much more positive, if rather stressful, day today, despite having the killer headache from hell and terrible nausea, not to mention 2 parties to prepare.

Had the plumbers in this morning to fix the sink in our toilet which has been off limits since November due to a blocked pipe and leaky waste. (Such a pain making sure the boys go round to the bathroom to wash their hands every time without getting sidetracked or touching anything on the way.)

So, all good, job was done really quickly and by a proper nice plumber this time (chosen by us not the Trust). Unfortunately, when he left he failed to latch the gate. Ten minutes later dh let the 2 bigger dogs out into the garden. Half an hour later we got a phonecall from a lovely guy who had caught the lurcher a few streets away and was trying to catch our other dog who was doing her best 'you can't catch me, ner, ner, ner, ner, ner' dance. Dh shot round there to find the guy had managed to rugby tackle her was almost sitting on her to keep hold of her because - wait for it - she didn't have her collar on - again! (Its a good job she's microchipped.) Fortunately the lurcher did have his collar and his tags have both mobiles and the home number on. We didn't even know they were missing - anything could have happened, and apparently nearly did. The guy was a local farrier who stopped to catch them after nearly hitting one of them on the road!

Anyway all's well that ends well. Got them back safe and sound and they have both been acting all slinky ever since.

Dh managed to rattle through a few smaller diy jobs while he was off this morning and the place is finally starting to take shape. Still tonnes to do, but am starting to feel that it wouldn't be the end of the world if some of the stuff left on the list didn't get done before Saturday.

Dd has been on fine form today, singing ee-aye-ee-aye-oh at the top of her voice (favourite party trick) and then when I was singing five little ducks and sang 'mummy duck said ....' she yelled .. ee-aye-ee-aye-oh and then fell about laughing along with her, frankly nutty, brothers.
