I am so blessed to be part of this group. We are starting another year together, our 3rd but who's counting. May you each have a happy and healthy one. I look forward to more meetups, more FBing, more Skyping, more Waving, more crazy tales, more laughter, more hand holding, and more support than is humanly possible! XOX

Well I should really get to bed as I need to be in Leeds tomorrow. Can't decide whether to get up at 6am which is usual time, or have a lie-in until 6.50 and catch a later train. This is very tempting and is what I did this morning, unfortunately my internal alarm clock woke me up at 6 anyway and I didn't get back to sleep for over half an hour . Bugger, just remembered I haven't made tomorrow's lunch, better go.

Night

springaporesling · 07/01/2010 01:58

A snowy morning to you all. Have been avidly watching Skynews - sad I know but am fascinated by the amount of snow you seem to have. Have been sent some lovely pics by my uncle who is snowbound in Hampshire (near the A3).

Cyteen any chance of a link to the potential wedding venue?

We're off to Hoi An (Vietnam) tomorrow morning for a long weekend away with MIL.

TwilightSurfer · 07/01/2010 05:57

exhausted but wide awake. reese woke and had a stuffy nose. she's settled again and i'm not. so i'm watching the artic blast come into our area. all the while hoping that they'll call off kinsley's school for tomorrow. all the other counties have cancelled school. some of the local private/church schools are listed as ending early. i don't want to deal with the madness. just call off school!!!!

maybe we'll have some pretty stuff. me and snow....not the best of friends.

will catch up in a little while.

morning all, ds slept til 5.45 I, on the other hand, woke at 4 and couldn't get back to sleep

blimey, that didn't last long... I gave DS a pot of raisins to occupy him while I popped on here and they're gone already

cyteen agree re morning crankiness if not fed straight away...that applies to both my DP and DS!

hots hope you're about to wake up in 5 mins....

DS is being adorably cute this morning so i'm off to play

see you all later

luckoftheirish · 07/01/2010 07:12

morning...

i agree 100% about grumpy morning toddlers.. dd2 woke up at 5.30am.. i refused to get up.. so dh grumpled and cursed .. went to her room and settled her only for her to wake up 1/2 later.. screamed whinged and wined until she has her weetabix.. which she didn't finish and then ate raisins and ritz crackers.. seems to have satisfied her for now....

she is getting her last two bottom front teeth at the mo and is being a right pita with it...

dd1 is still being a right nightmare sleep wise and has suddely developed attitute... god if she is like this at 4 what is she going to be like as a teenager???

not sure if whats happening today but looks unlike that dd2 will get to the cm... think i might combust internally with boredom!!!.. hopefully dd1's nursery is open...

very impressed at your snow digging sazz...

morning miamla...

cannot remember anything else.. see mummy brain still no sign of abating

hotterpotter · 07/01/2010 09:48

After yesterday's easy journey it has been a nightmare this morning getting to work, my feet are like icicles after ages spent stood in snow on a cold platform, brrrr. Thankfully DD's nursery is hoping to be open today though so things slowly getting back to normal. I am just dreading the gas bill though...

Neither of my DC are particularly grumpy or hungry when they get up, in fact they often wait an hour before eating with no apparent ill-effects. They must take after DH in that respect as I always wake up starving

Have a lovely snowy day

dizzydixies · 07/01/2010 10:05

hots the anticipation of our gas bill is giving me nightmares [meep]

DD2 up at 3am having had a bad dream and spent remainder of evening lying across the top of our bed - considering I fell asleep on sofa watching Rob Brydon DVD I wasn't too bad but poor DH is off to early shift shattered, I gave up at 6.30 and got up too. DD1 now at school, DD2 at playgroup and D napping so must get on with something productive

singapore - have a lovely weekend

and hope all else had restful days after what sounds like a fraught night all round

oopsandbabycoconut · 07/01/2010 10:18

Morning

I too am terrified of the gas bill - our heating is on 24hrs atm to stop pipes freezing but only at 13degrees at night but still chewing gas. It was a fantastic -10 last night! still -7 and feeling like -13 according to the weather bug in our garden!.

DH tried to move his car this morning and nearly squashed the daydreaming postie!

A friend rang and asked if I fancied a walk this morning strangely I said No!

hope eveyone has a peaceful day after hectic nights.

GladioliBuckets · 07/01/2010 10:19

Singaporesling Yep, I've been watching lots about the A3 too, people have been stuck 14hrs or more in their cars. Luckily we nowhere near and DH's office building is still closed after Tuesday evening's snowbound gridlock.

Kurt was wailing last night and we finally realised he must be hungry. He'd had a salmon and cheese wrap + 2 homemade cakes for tea but we'd forgotten his milk. You forget how many calories there are in half a pint of full fat cow's milk, clearly enough to get him through the night. The nearest I iget to a conversation with him is "Mmmmmmmum?" "Yes Kurt?" "Mmmmmmum?" "Yes Kurt?" "Mmmmmmmum?", all this with a big smirk on his face.

We have a 2nd hand Sky+ box which goes wrong every couple of months and loses what we've recorded. But we know how to reset it ourselves now at least so I don't have to phone up Sky everytime (there's a secret combination of numbers on the menu.)

springapore here is where we're thinking...the downstairs room. It'll all be very informal which is what we want - nice buffet, no seating plan, plenty of room to mingle. The only downside is that it's on the lower ground so no natural light, but hey, it's a party, no one wants to see what they actually look like

Have a nice weekend, not jealous at all!

dizzydixies · 07/01/2010 11:01

cyteen looks FAB, nice big bar which is important

cyteen · 07/01/2010 11:07

Well quite

oopsandbabycoconut · 07/01/2010 11:18

Can Ijust add a soggy mummy moment - DD just lifted my t-shirt patted my tummy and said 'Hecca, baby in tummy. snuggle Hecca' and then she kissed my tummy. I nearly sobbed. She is so very sweet [sob]

RedLentil · 07/01/2010 12:16

Ah, Oops that is so lovely. You now officially have to call the baby Hector if it is a boy.

Cyteen - that venue is fabulous. I can't believe it is over 9 years since I was making wedding-planning decisions.

Yesterday I had grumpy children and the cause of their grumpiness was The Weather.

Today they are a jolly bunch and I designate the cause as Good Parenting. To the naked eye it may look a lot like window-cleaning ...

springaporesling · 07/01/2010 12:50

Cyteen looks fab.

Sazz no MIL lives (normally) in Cumbria! Was supposed to be spending Christmas and New Year with us but her flight was cancelled due to the weather so she arrived on 27 December (otherwise she would have had to fly on Christmas Day meaning she wouldn't be able to spend it with either of her Grandsons). Anyway we booked a short break with her as neither DH or I had any time off work over Christmas.

Hope you are all coping ok with the snow.

RedLentil · 07/01/2010 12:52

Just caught the little feckers trying to escape into the garden with a box of 'expedition clothes' wrapped in a v. expensive bedspread that was being hauled by 'Husky dog' DD1.

I was happily reading Maisy books to DD2 ...

springaporesling · 07/01/2010 12:56

Oops is your appointment on Monday? If so hope all goes well. If not then just ignore me! Your DD is so sweet.

vg, all forms of boots here a HUGE hit with D - the most comical of which have whilst on have to be DH's riot boots so she can hardly lift her feet

must invest in a sledge - sounds like the boys have really enjoyed it is DS1 still getting on well at new school, I do hope so.

Red - I love your kids nothing like a good adventure to blow out the cobwebs!

first cake of year ruined due to my own stupidity will send it in with DH as his lot will eat anything

Oops - poppy is an utter doll (as always) and glad she loves hector too, strengthens the case

I received a present during the week, all very lovely but was a bit as had no idea where it can from - DH claiming no knoweldge and as he's a touch useless at surprises I believed him. My lovely mystery benefactor has revealed themselves today, will contact them later in private (once I locate mobile phone) but in meantime THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU

gosh you lot are lovely

TwilightSurfer · 07/01/2010 14:43

There was one VERY upset child here this morning. "THE TEACHER SAID IT WOULD SNOW AND WE WOULD NOT GO TO SCHOOL!!!!" I'm sure it will do something later that will cause schools to be let out early or at least be closed tomorrow but RIGHT NOW....nothing.

Oops that is the most precious story on the planet. How lovely!!!! Poppy will be such a good big sister.

Sazzles about that shared snow? By 4p would be nice for DD1. Thanks.

I have a guestroom!!! Convinced DH to play ball and dismantle beds for with me. Boys' room now has spacey curtains and spacey duvet cover, Lyra's new room still has Rupert curtains and no door but Rome wasn't built in a day, eh? DD's old room is now a Playroom with spare bed which now has better access to den beneath (Kurt has already banged his head 13 times misjudging the height.

Now to figure out what on earth to do for tea, we already ate my homemade pasta and cakes, running out of ideas...

dizzydixies · 07/01/2010 17:04

well done buckets - was musing over the bedrooms whilst in the shower this morning and am now considering putting D through with DD2 and giving DD1 Sazz&E's D's smaller bedroom to herself.

it means she could have sleepovers and DD2 and D are closer in age for toys and books etc - now that D sleeps through 75% of the time and DD2 is a touch less shouty we might get away with it up until now dd2 was in with DD1 as she could sleep through anything

the girls also have a wardrobe which has two rails one on top of the other and each girl has a rail, DD2 on the top and DD1 on the bottom, she's so tall now though that her clothes drag across the bottom

god I'll stop now as I'm boring myself
