I am so blessed to be part of this group. We are starting another year together, our 3rd but who's counting. May you each have a happy and healthy one. I look forward to more meetups, more FBing, more Skyping, more Waving, more crazy tales, more laughter, more hand holding, and more support than is humanly possible! XOX

I think you are right GB I listened to some more yesterday - all right for background music but got on my tits after a bit.

What we need in this weather is some jump-up-and-down-to-keep-warm-and-make-you-smile-music.
I recommend these guys - Ska Cubano
Who would have thought to do Ska cuban style - it is infact genius. I saw them at Womad in Las Palmas - just awesome.

Also loving that Rod Stewart has covered Higher and Higher because it means the original gets played on the radio lots too. Another hopping about like a loon song.

GladioliBuckets · 06/01/2010 12:15

Steaky I think that link could just about make this the best day of DH's life. No work, some wrestling to watch and this. Sadly pizza delivery looks unlikely though .

steaknife · 06/01/2010 12:41

You're very welcome m'lady.

RedLentil · 06/01/2010 13:22

Ah, Madame Steak, you know the way to the heart of a Coventry kid .

You have also cheered up three grumpy children. I may leave the music on all day.

DD2 loves to dance, but has a style that involves leaning further and further forward until she falls over.

steaknife · 06/01/2010 14:06

DD loves to be danced - which is me holding her, spinning her, waltzing her, somersaulting her - currently have Elvis on - uhuhuh!

pertelote · 06/01/2010 18:30

Where is everyone? Have you all been playing in the snow all afternoon? My mother made it here as is her usual Wednesday habit so we have all pursued our preferred occupations: DD rampaging, Granny providing educational commentary (no, DD, the red ring goes on top of the orange one, etc), DH programming and me cooking vast vats of stew for the freezer. No-one has been outside but then it didn't really stop snowing until it was dark. Maybe tomorrow.

dizzydixies · 06/01/2010 18:38

cold here too Pert but not snowing - I managed to get to local soft play to meet Poppy and the gorgeous Poppettes which was lovely - was lovely, if cold, visit which resulted in my barking DD2's name over and over and over again

Dh back at work tomorrow which has come about all too quick and the mammoth list of things to that I was supposed to have done over the past few days is still there !

off to check the weather for tomorrow

cyteen · 06/01/2010 19:47

I was back at work today pert, had a magical Narniaesque walk through the snow in the morning with DS babbling away under the raincover. Was expecting tears at nursery drop-off, but no, he just looked at me like 'so what?' and didn't give it a second thought

Went to see a possible wedding reception venue at lunchtime, likey likey It has finally dawned on us both that we need get our arses in gear

oopsandbabycoconut · 06/01/2010 20:00

evening All

I forgot it was MILs birthday and we had offered to have them over for dinner. I said 5.30 as they wanted to eat with DD but as usual they were 1/2 hour late. I remembered at the very last minute I had a spare iced fruitcake in the cupboard and whizzed up a few sugar flower found a cat shaped candle in the crap drawer and hey presto, a wonderful thoughtful DIL

DD now fast asleep, DH washing up and I am going flop. DD and I went out in the snow for a walk into town for coffee and a sarnie. I was ever so grateful for my big chunky buggy as we had no gritters and no-one had been down out pavements so we trundled through nearly 20cms of snow until we got to a main road where the pavements were slightly more compacted. DD fell asleep and all the was visable of her was her nose So I got a takeout coffee and sarnies and we came home and had a picnic on the floor - DD ate a whole chicken, bacon and avocado sarnie all by herself and then shared mine. Being out in the cold obviously makes you hungry. She did like eating snow though

NUTTER ALERT

cyteen · 06/01/2010 20:15

Is there a growth spurt at the moment or something? DS is even more of a gutbucket than usual. The other day he ate two bowls of risotto, mine and his (using my fork ) and he is permanently on the scrounge. We've taken to keeping a tangerine by our bed at night so he can have a snack first thing, or else he is cranky as hell.

steak forgot to say, I think if your LO and mine ever met they would understand each other perfectly - DS still doesn't say anything other than 'no' but by god he could talk the hind legs off a donkey

oopsandbabycoconut · 06/01/2010 20:21

Cyteen - I have no idea but today DD has eaten her sarnie and mine, a yog, 2 humzinger and 1/2 an apple for lunch, a tangerine and the other 1/2 apple as a snack, 3 chipolatas in lentil bake, a yog, 9oz of milk and also her brekker, some of DH's and 1/2 a bagel. We had her weighed yesterday and she has finally broken the 9kg barrier so have got her new carseat fitted.

Cute, Sazzles . DD has been calling me 'mama' for a while, but now she seems to have realised that this is different from 'mummy' as I say... so she alternates 'mama' with 'mimi' Well done on the shovelling btw... hope your neighbours are appreciative!

DD not a huge eater compared to those described so can't help much. Makes sense for there to be a link with the cold weather though - she has certainly been guzzling milk.

Oh Sazz what a bugger . I know it's only telly but it takes time to build a decent collection of stuff. Although saying that ours is mostly full of unwatched Veronica Mars for some reason

hotterpotter · 06/01/2010 21:46

Ours is only Freeview + anyway, we aren't made of money

DS calls me and DH mama He does know that DH is daddy and is very proud of himself when he remembers but mainly reverts to mama. He calls DD Bita instead of Tabby, 'tis very sweet, and the closest he gets to a sentence is 'bye bye mama' or 'no mama' (accompanied with a cheeky and adorable head shake )

So have you stolen the Sky+ box or did they just let you keep it???

We have a HUmax freeview + box which can record 1 while you watch another, it's pretty good apart from the fact it tends to chop a few seconds off the beginning of some programmes, and it doesn't sort recordings into categories, they are just in one loooong list
