I am so blessed to be part of this group. We are starting another year together, our 3rd but who's counting. May you each have a happy and healthy one. I look forward to more meetups, more FBing, more Skyping, more Waving, more crazy tales, more laughter, more hand holding, and more support than is humanly possible! XOX

Joanie (as my folks call her LOL) is one of my musical heros, grew up with her. She's also an amazing guitarist, even DH said so and he is such a guitar snob. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GGMHSbcd_qI This song is all about Bob Dylan.

My DH finally came home 10mins ago! Ridickerless.

GladioliBuckets · 05/01/2010 22:05

Doh, try again

poppysocks · 05/01/2010 22:05

at the floating milk float oops and twizzling car loti. Eek. So glad everyone's ok though. As dizzy said, it's merely bloody cold and icy here. So hoping there's no more snow as more might endanger tomorrow's meet with dizzy [mwwp].

Congrats on making it to work and back again sazzles. Bless DD1. I know how she feels!

So pleased to hear your Mum's improving VG.

I salute your TV/PC less days cyteen. DD1 probably watches too much TV but I justify it on the basis that on work/nursery days they're up and out before 8 and not home until after 6 and it's full on at nursery so she needs quiet, switch-off time, partic. on a Wednesday between the nursery days. I know I do! DD2 still not interested in it, but there's a part of me that can't wait until she is so that we can get back to the 20 mins of snuggling in bed with CBeebies on for the DDs that we had before DD2 came along.

Weird day at work today. New boss (who no-one had met) arrived. Huge anticipation/fear amongst everyone. By lunchtime we'd still seen neither hide nor hair of him. He eventually breezed through to shake a hand or two and said that 'it'd be good to sit down to talk at some stage' Oh and the boiler didn't crank up again after the Christmas shut-down so have drunk far toooooo much tea/coffee today to keep warm and spent the entire day in coat, hat and gloves.

Good luck with the temping GB. We have someone starting next week from the temp bank . Congrats on making a decision you're so confident in steaky. That's worth more than anything else.

dizzydixies · 05/01/2010 22:09

lol, buckets I should have known you and your DH would know more about Joanie than me

Sazz, we've had a flurry but nothing more so far. DD2 back at playgroup tomorrow, and then meeting poppy & the poppettes in the afternoon - yipee - oh oh does that count as a mini-meet without you?!?

GladioliBuckets · 05/01/2010 22:10

Am off on a rant now, have never met anyone else my age who like Joan BaezPrison Trilogy and Forvere Young and James & The gang are also brilliant if anyone's interested.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 05/01/2010 22:10

buckets did you say a while back that you could let us listen to some of your singing? would love to hear it.

poppy Hi, new boss sounds great. not.

Is he really so important and self absorbed?

oopsandbabycoconut · 05/01/2010 22:11

I'm off to bed as DH accidentally turned the hot water off earlier trying to boost the already on heating . He is now in weather nerd mode watching the weather charts to see if our snow will come back over night. I am not hopefull but his tracking satelite picture has him hopeful. I hope he is not disapointed in the morning.

DD kept dragging us to the patio doors and saying 'Snow, mummy, snow, pretty' she loved watching it especially when we put the outside light on ans she could see it falling through the light.

oopsandbabycoconut · 05/01/2010 22:12

Dizzy - do you have your Sazz-on-a-stick?

GladioliBuckets · 05/01/2010 22:14

So of all the chat! Kurt has been tyring to copy 54321 Blast Off today bless him, I get a finger wave and 'too doo!' Think I should take a leaf out of Cyteen's book and pay him some more attention.

dizzydixies · 05/01/2010 22:15

lol, carry on Buckets, am always glad to hear a more educated opinion

ah mini oops and her pretty chat have a cosey night sleep in the coconut house

poppy fingers crossed the new boss stays hidden and lets you lot get on with it?!

poppysocks · 05/01/2010 22:17

Well, at least if it took that long for DH to get home GB, then he has no chance of him going in tomorrow .

I too grew up with Joan Baez (in a manner of speaking). Still have to take big conversational detours to ensure that my mother doesn't get a chance to talk about the Isle of Wight festival again. Just feel a bit bad for her that that was the sum total of her youth thanks to my unexpectedly early arrival .

That's fab chat from DS no1. DD2 is definitely much chattier than DD1 was at this stage. DD1 said very little (although had a very comprehensive range of animal noises ) until about 18 months when it suddenly clicked in and has been a huge and accomplished chatterbox since. DD2 has a really big vocab - at a guess, at least 100 words and is starting to string them together. We had 'apple p'ease' this evening and lots of 'nigh' nigh' dadda'. (Why never mamma?? [grin

poppy aww bless, we also get the night night daddy. never mummy.

He only shouts mummy out when he wants to get out of the highchair.
(and I mean shout)

dd was much more advanced at this age tbh. Me and dh were chatting the other night and we realised that she was in a bed at 16 month to make way for ds.(wanted to move her cot before he came)

No way is ds ready to go in a bed yet. In fact never.

poppysocks · 05/01/2010 22:25

Hope you have a warm and cosy night oops. Must say that when I was reading on the BBC website about the expected snow in your neck of the woods I did think of our great friends who are in your town and thought of them off work (teaching) and enjoying a day in the snow. Just hope the boiler gets back on track for you.

New boss seems nice at first glance and I suspect he'll do the high profile part of the job well. I also expect he's going to be under enormous pressure to make big changes and get big results asap so we're bracing ourselves for sweeping changes that haven't been made based on knowledge and understanding but a perception of what we do (he's an out of work banker rather than having an actual experience of what we do or the environment ). Will be an interesting few months...

dizzydixies · 05/01/2010 22:28

Dylan not interested in TV either unless its a programme with music/dancing that she can dance too - she's my wee groover other than that its mum, mum, mum, mummy, MUM, MUMMY!!

steaknife · 05/01/2010 22:32

aww your lil chatterboxes. DD talks alot but no words. She also uses her hands and arms for emphasis and often ends a sentence with a firm head nod and "mmm"

Can't think where she gets it from

steaknife · 05/01/2010 22:34

Buckets I need your expert opinion - what do you make of this lot?

I thought they were okay, reminded me of someone else but can't think who.

steaknife · 05/01/2010 22:40

Oh yes Loti sorry I was when you said you went 360 earlier, glad you are okay.

Dizz never mind the darth vadar costume you want to start worrying when DH starts going on about Leia's gold bikini - well at least in this weather, talk about chaffing!
Anyone feeling crafty can make their own over here

TwilightSurfer · 06/01/2010 01:38

The bed issue!! Ladies I was up last night reading MN threads about when to move little ones to their own beds. Geez!! How could I forget that. See I really must have been tired.

On that topic, I want to move Reese into a bed bed. She loves her playpen bed BUT I think it's time to move on. The IKEA website has a bunk bed that might work. IT should be the first image displayed here. She would have the bottom (floor) bunk and DD1 could have the top if she wanted or sleep in her Queen Size bed. OR I could do two of these beds. Just don't know if DD1 would be too tall. OPINIONS!

Chatter is so wonderful. I love all these stories. Very sweet. It's when they get older and don't shut up for NOTHING that you want to purchase permanent ear plugs. LOL! Reese is really picking up "the lingo" around here. She handed me something that wasn't very tasty today saying, "GROSS!" Then in response to me saying gross about something else she said, "YUKKO DUCKO!"

Off to google a few more things before calling it a night. DH and I are obviously over the hill. This is night two of both of us in bed by 8p, each with our own laptops, only occasionally talking to each other. BTW he says "Hi."

TS new year new name and all that was what I was thinking.

LWFH you have my sympathy tis 33 here today. Still quite of the snow.

Steaky glad decision reached and all the ideas sound great. Tis a shame we can't work out some cheap way of shipping stuff here as there is a huge market with loads of expat sahms with lots of time and money on their hands - not including myself here as I'm at work at the moment

Dizz mmm difficult - wish I had the numbers for all of us!

DS saying lots of words too but not many together except 'up please' and 'more please'. He seems to have a problem pronouncing 's' and 'r' so he is 'Nam' sheep are 'beep' and socks come out as 'cocks' plus robot is 'bobot' and rabbit is 'babbit'. Oh and his favourite word is Mummy - he's a real Mummy's boy and incredibly clingy still at the moment.

luckoftheirish · 06/01/2010 07:43

morning...

thanks all i am fine.. although at the time my heart was in my mouth and i called dh screaming the place down, demanding he left work to collect dd2!!!

dd2 talks all the time but to be fair nothing makes much sense .. favourites ate "uh oh" which she says all the time.. "up" "heads" "baa baa".. and "alba" which should be "emma"!!!...

well we have had no more snow but absolutely no chance of dd2 going to the cm today .. so no gym for me and no one to one pilates... gutted

hotterpotter · 06/01/2010 09:15

Hey Loti, glad you're OK. It must have been very scary. for you re pilates but get yourselves out in the snow instead for a workout!

I'm back at work now, first day in since 18 December . I know some of the transport system has ground to a halt but thankfully my train was bang on time . Leeds looks very beautiful all covered in snow but it is a good job I have come out in my dockers as all the paths are treacherous. Hoping for an early finish too to break me in gently

Hope the snow is just right to let you all have fun without breaking any necks/legs/new cars!

steaknife · 06/01/2010 09:19

We have snow - just enough to be pretty not too much to stop everything.

Another draught excluder made last night - will blog it later and I've cut out and drafted aprons for me and DD this morning, but will HAVE to go to fabric shop to buy tape for the ties.

HP take it easy at work now, make sure you have lots of mn tea breaks.

LOTI phew!

oopsandbabycoconut · 06/01/2010 09:22

Morning all

We have woken up to a winter wonderland - DH can't get his car out so had wrapped up and walked in. We walked a little with him and DD was so excited she liked the taste of the snow and screamed blue murder when I brought her in. We are thinking of going for a walk later as it is MILs birthday and we might pop her over a few buns. It is still snowing steadily so might change my mind at any point.

Hots - blah that you had to get into work.

LOTI - good to hear you are okay, I hope you planning on staying in today.

GladioliBuckets · 06/01/2010 10:25

DH does indeed have today off. DD gone to school but DS1 has a cough and I couldn't be bothered to make him a packed lunch so he's at home. Talking to DH about work - seems to come down to work or car as I would earn just about enough to run the car. But still potential for money going on unnecessary childcare in the interim.

Steaky He sounds like Michael Stipe doesn't he? I not into such bluesy stuff really though.

TS Have you thought about a triple bunkbed? Good for sleepless nights, sleepovers and guests - more flexibility and fun to play on.
