Just thought that I would get this started before the ante-natal thread gets filled up, not that I've had much time to post since I had DS but others might be able to multi-task better than I can!

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

We just had a full blow-out here, oh joy . It didn't sound like a full-on heavy poop... just quite windy so I was surprised when I looked and consequently cleaned up practically up to her armpits. Not very lady like! Although maybe TMI but I think she has a bit of diarrhoea since her injections on Monday. She seems happy in herself so I'll just keep an eye on it, as it were!

Not sure what to do this afternoon here either. DH is sleeping as he worked til early this morning and he'll leave for work again around 3pm. It looks a beautiful day, maybe I will go for a walk along the river. DD can't feed the ducks but I've never grown out of it and she can watch!

GoldenSnitch · 19/03/2010 11:15

If your near MK you could come to DS's birthday party!

Why do people always leave it till the last minute to drop out?

Kingsroadie · 19/03/2010 13:01

Thanks so much for all your comments and support! Having had a good day yesterday she then had an awful evening - crying and screaming and actually choking on her calpol - like actually choking - I thought she was going to die. My mother was with me so quilly flipped her over and we banged her on the back very hard until she was breathing properly again. I was so so frightened. And the cast comes quite high so there isn't even full access to her back - I need to be v careful in future as I was scared to death!

Then she didn't really settle until 1am. I was beside myself and my parets left at 11:30 when my husband got home. I really was upset last night - I know it's horrid for him having to be in the office 6am-11pm - really horrid, and I know that the reason I can afford to not work/own a lovely home in London etc is because of his job but sometimes I just feel like a single mother and just wish he was around for help and support. Bloody lawyers. I know he feels terrible and wants to be around so I feel terribly guilty moaning. I am so lucky to have my parents to help me otherwise I couldn't cope...

She has a cold which so doesn't help her at the moment and she isn't eating much at all. I just feel so sorry for her! Ps not been brave at all - am crying lots.

Sorry to bang on about me again and I hope you are all doing really well with the babes! Ooh she weighed 13lbs at 15weeks and 5 days...

Claire236 · 19/03/2010 15:14

I cried buckets after ds1 had his op. I felt so helpless & would have given anything to stop my poor baby suffering. Poor little girl getting a cold now of all times. You might not feel brave but between the reflux, the op & your dh working such long hours you're coping better than you think.

hendo77 · 19/03/2010 15:30

Kings, bang away all you like, but I agree with Claire you are definitely coping better than you think. Fingers crossed for you that she keeps having good days and that the evenings and nights get better for you as she gets used to it over the coming days.

hendo77 · 19/03/2010 15:33

oh dear, that first sentence doesn't sound quite like it did in my head! I meant to say bang away all you like as that was a good thing and then the bit about coping well... hmmmm... maybe the 'but' should have read 'and'...

BexJ78 · 19/03/2010 15:35

Hi everyone. Just taken about half an hour to read through the thread and get back up t date First of all, Kingsroadie, hope things are getting beter with you after Perspehone's operation. it sounds so upsetting, you have done so well to not be a total wreck; i think I would have been if anna was in the same situation. am thinking of you!

I am interested in BLW too, so if anyone can give any helpful advice it would be very much appreciated!
All is going well-ish here. Still BF'ing apart from one ff per day. was worried that anna was not getting enough, so have started giving her a bottle of formula for her 4pm feed. rest of time she gets breastmilk. seems to be working ok. she is still staying up wiith us 'til we go to bed at 10pm, but we have started her in her room this week and seems to be going OK. It took aboit half an hour of ssshhhh-ing to get her off last night, but once she is asleep, she is still going though until about 7am, so pretty pleased on the whole.

Had her weighed and measured at the clinic on Wed; she is 12lb, 10oz now and 63 cm. so she is still up there on the 91st percentile for her height, but for her weight,is hovering around the 50th centile, after being really high up hen she was born (she was 9lb 13oz!) The HV seems to think, she is just 'finding her level.' I am hoping she might end up being tall and slim! I am medium height, but on the plump side, and Dh is really tall, previously of athletic rugby player type build, but now a bit flabby!!

She is constantly trying to stuff things in her mouth and drooling lots, like many of the other LO's on here. No sign of any teeth yet though!

got uni mates descending on us, including two pg ladies, and 4 children, tomorrow afternoon. should be good although has potential to be chaotic! we are in York, BTW...don't know if any of you are near me?? seem to be lots of you in the midlands area.

sorry for the epic post... will try to get back into writing little and often!

GoldenSnitch · 19/03/2010 16:00

Just got back from DS's party. It went really well and everyone had lots of fun Thank goodness, it was turning into a disaster with people pulling out this morning at short notice - especially when it messed up others getting lifts. Thought I was going to end up paying for a party with only 2 or 3 kids there!

Everyone liked the cake too

I agree with what hendo was trying to say - moan away all you like Kings. You're being so brave about Persephone's operation. I know I'd be falling to bits!!

We're in Milton Keynes but I'm originally from Doncaster so we're 'Up North' fairly often too...

1petshortofazoo · 19/03/2010 20:51

I'm from Scunthorpe so not that far bex and not far from donny.
Went to the gym for the 1st time this morning and I an aching like mad Haha.
Tmi alert my piles have been really sore for days, been using proctosedyl but it's not doing much good anyone have any advice? It will be greatly recieved!

GoldenSnitch · 19/03/2010 21:19

Ah, Sunny Scunny

Haven't had piles this time but after DS, the doc gave me supositories. They used to sort them out within a couple of days.

BexJ78 · 19/03/2010 21:35

We live in York now, and am originally from scarborough, but until quite recently lived for 9 years in Barnsley...long live the republic of south yorkshire GS!

HollyHo · 19/03/2010 21:42

Seems like a few of us are Yorkshire lasses. As I mentioned earlier I am in Cambridge now but born in Beverley. Many a happy holiday spent in Scarborough and the surrounding area.

I'm exhausted again today, just when I'm meant to be going out tonight!

Dd woke up in the night for cuddles and ds woke up loads with a snuffly nose, he seemed to just have little snacks all night long rather than a proper feed.

Have been to soft play and now dd is painting. Need to put the tv on soon so that I can havea little doze!

Tillyscoutsmum · 20/03/2010 15:31

I've ordered this BLW book after seeing it recommended on here. Haven't had chance to read it properly yet but looks good so far...

Kings - another teary one here You poor things. How is she doing ?

1pet re:piles - the best advice I had was to spend some time massaging the cream around the piles, It apparently increases the bloody supply and helps them heal quicker. Not an exactly pleasant way to spend your time but it does work

Hollyho - DS's toilet habits have been a bit odd since his jabs on Monday. He didn't go for 3 days, then had a day of massive explosions. We're now on day 3 of no poo again. I think I may well go out and leave him with DH

GoldenSnitch · 20/03/2010 21:17

I'm so hoping that Catherine is having a growth spurt because she's fed so much over the past two days that I'm sore!!!

She's dirtied about 5 nappies today so she's definitely getting plenty to eat

She's been unsettled and clingy for about 4 days now. She seems well, just needs to be held and feeding all the time.

I'm absolutely knackered from trying to keep up with her feeding and doing DS's birthday things. We've had my family all visiting today and we've had a great day but I am totally ready for bed already!

hendo77 · 20/03/2010 21:57

GoldenSnitch, fingers crossed for you, I hope Catherine is having a growth spurt. I think Imogen (my dd) has had one this week as she fed every 2-3 hours, day and night, since Tuesday. Thankfully last night she went to 4 hours and today she seems to have reverted back to her usual pattern during the day. I think it has possibly been the longest week of my life as my dh has also been away all week with work! He did say on his return he thought she looked bigger and felt heavier so that made me feel like it was a growth spurt, although not sure how scientifically sound that is!!!

HollyHo · 21/03/2010 07:05

Nothing like a nice early Sunday morning! All ok here. DD is either having a growth spurt or this coldy thing is bothering her. Up every two hours in the night... just saline'd her nose again and got some quite impressive blockages out . She is breathing better now - but still fussing at the boob... I think she has been comforting herself, I will wait now until she's definitely hungry.

Lee36 that's cute of your DD! I do believe my DD is growing into her cheeks nicely - they don't seem quite as disproportionate to her face!

Off to pick up DH DS (?) this morning. (He has a son from a prevous relationship). They live locally. We are all going over to my Dads to plant some seeds in pots for the greenhouse for him as he's away, peppers, squashes etc. how very Good Life of me... I hope I get the seeds the right way up!

GoldenSnitch · 21/03/2010 07:47

Longest sleep was from 8.30 till just before 1am last night. Then she woke at 4am and 6am too.

4.5 hour longest sleeps seems really hard again now she's been doing 8 hours or more regularly!!

And after saying I haven't had piles this time on Friday, they've turned up this morning!

Hoping the day gets better....

GoldenSnitch · 21/03/2010 21:40

Managed another run today (so much for going 3 times a week!!) and have been coughing like a 40 a day smoker since I got back!

I was hoping Catherine would sleep well tonight as I am completely knackered after having family here all weekend but I can hear her on the monitor now...Is hoping for a good feed followed by a full night's sleep too much to ask?

Kingsroadie · 22/03/2010 09:16

GS - super well done on the running!

Sorry to hear about growth spurts and resultng lack of sleep...

Persephone last night slept from 11:30 when I woke her, until 7:10 which is the first time she has done that since the op on Tuesday eve. So proud of her! She ate a bit more yesterday so that must have been why - when I woke her at 11:30 she actually ate so her appetite must be coming back - poor little thing. She did wake up a couple of times in the night - 1:30, 2:30 and 6 ish. But she cried a bit (which is very unlike her usually but which she has been doing since the op) but not the uncontrolable screaming that she has been - upset or scared I think - anyway so it wasn't too bad and died down after about 20/30 seconds so I left her and she obv went back. Hoping she is well on her way to getting back to normal.

She was supposed to have jabs today but I postponed them until next Monday instead - she has to have them in her arms as obv her legs are plastered. Which is apparently more painful. My heart just tbreaks for her sometimes! But now my father has to have an operation next Monday (nothing too serious - big stuck kidney stone) so I wonder whether to postpone them again so we can visit him if needs be! (or maybe I am just looking for an excuse...)

She has been incredibly good during the day - very calm and smiley and laughing - am so proud of her being such a good girl about it all. She is so brave! (Sorry to sing her praises so much but she is such a sweetie).

Hope everyone has had lovely weekends my husband is away with work tonight - typical, but he only had to work for 2 hours (from home) this weekend so that was good!

GoldenSnitch · 22/03/2010 21:23

So glad Persephone is feeling a little better. Poor baby having to have her jabs in her arms. It's just not fair is it!

Sing her praises all you like. She's probably dealing with this awful situation much better than most adults. What a brave little girl.

Just watching The Secret Millionaire here as my brother is on it Feeling a bit sad that Doncaster is being painted as such a run down, grotty area though. I know there are bad bits but it really didn't feel that bad when I was growing up there

Hello everyone.

Pleased that Persephone is getting better and tolerating her cast. It sounds like you are doing a great job Kings.

Very of you runners.

Bit bored today, wondering how to fill out my week. What are the rest of you doing?

OP posts:
Kingsroadie · 23/03/2010 11:58

Thanks LaDiDaDi! Are you a Dr btw?

Today I am meeting Nct people for coffee. Tmrw not sure yet - might see if my friend is around or go to the V&A.Thurs seeing a friend for lunch and Fri a very important shopping date on the Kings Road with a fried and her toddler as they have just opened Anthropology which is apparently pretty cool. So my week mostly involves eating, seeing friends and shopping

ooh and tidying our flat for viewings as we're trying to sell and buy a house in Fulham - no luck to far though. grrr.

Oh but most importantly I have just signed up for a course at the London School of Journalism - distance learning via email - so am going to make a start on that to keep my brain from rotting too much!
