Just thought that I would get this started before the ante-natal thread gets filled up, not that I've had much time to post since I had DS but others might be able to multi-task better than I can!

Jabs were awful. Poor Catherine was sleeping by the time we got to the doctors and stayed asleep as I got her out of her carseat so she was still snoozing when the first needle went in and she screamed!! (as I would if someone jabs me when I was asleep!)

She's been tearful and unsettled every since. She's done lots of feeding too, probably for comfort. Jabs were at 2.30 and she has only just gone to sleep deeply enough to be put down and she still doesn't seem properly settled

Poor baby. It's horrible but it's better than Polio or Whooping cough or any of the others.

Catherine's jabs were 2 and a bit weeks late LaDiDaDi. I know technically he wasn't premature at 10 days early but she seemed so tiny at 8 weeks and is definitely doing things a couple of weeks later than DS so I decided to put them off by the 10 days to make sure her system was ready. Today was the next appointment I could get after cancelling the first lot. I figured a few days would make no difference and if it made me feel better it was worth it.

Sending DH to your shop again tomorrow ABF. Both MK stores are completely out of red CD players and they don't know when they'll be getting more in. They checked stock while I was in the store though and you guys have 11!!

DS has his trial hour at Pre-school in the morning so I'm hoping Catherine sleeps tonight and feels better else that will be very hard work. It's my nieces birthday party tomorrow afternoon too but at least SIL and MIL will be there to help with Catherine and DS if I need them.

Hope everyone else is having a good day

LaDiDaDi · 02/03/2010 16:33

Sorry that Catherine's jabs were so bad, hope that she's feeling better today and that ds enjoyed his trial at pre-school.

Enjoyed a trip to the park and then a very stressful walk home with ds, dd, dd's buggy and baby doll. Walk home was stressful as dd demanded chose to walk the long way home along a busy road. Was so afraid that she was going to push her buggy and herself into the road and by the time we got nearer home she was complaining of being very tired and ds was starting to wake up and cry for a feed but I did enjoy being out in the sunshine. Hurrah !

After being put down at about 8.30pm, Catherine slept till 5am!! All that feeding and very little sleep after the jabs obviously wiped her out and set her up for a nice long sleep.

DS was up though so we didn't get to sleep through.

She's been really good today. She slept through DS's pre school trip (which went well, he had to be bribed to leave after the hour so I think he liked it ) and has also slept through most of the party this afternoon. I just hope she hasn't had too much sleep now so she won't go down tonight. She's currently up talking to her Daddy - who I'm falling an extra bit in love with at the moment, I love watching him coo-ing over his baby. He's even got her laughing!!

Got to decide now whether to wait till DS's official pre school start date of the 20th April or start him earlier. On the one hand, I know he's going to love it and the two mornings a week he'll be there will be good for him. On the other, things have only just gotten back to normal since Catherine's birth, I don't want to rock the boat again too soon. He's still not quite sleeping through again yet.

sparklycheerymummy · 02/03/2010 21:59

JOY has had her baby and I am sat in bed bawling my eyes out!!

GoldenSnitch · 03/03/2010 07:29

Who's Joy?

Claire236 · 03/03/2010 08:34

Joy's on One Born Every Minute. I cried too although I cry everytime anyone has a baby on there.

DS1 is 5 today. Can't believe he's 5 already. Doesn't seem like 10 mins ago I was sat in SCBU with this teeny tiny baby. Feeling really sad today for some reason. A friend of mine goes back to work after mat leave tomorrow & is really struggling which reminds me of what I'll have to go through in June.

Well done Catherine. Hope she did the same for you last night GS

GoldenSnitch · 03/03/2010 09:10

Ah, missed it last night because DH has borrowed the Battlestar Galactica box set from a friend so is watching them back-to-back!

Catherine didn't sleep so well last night but was only up twice and went back down easily so it wasn't so bad.

Happy Birthday to your DS Claire. Try to enjoy the day. You've got another few months before you have to worry about work, don't let it spoil them. It might not be as bad as you think?

Have had a rubbish day. ds1 wouldn't join in his assembly & dh wanted to punish him which we then argued about. ds2 has started faffing with his bottles again (alternately crying & guzzling) so has had hardly any milk today. Tried to feed him while I was out & he kicked off & I ended up going home in tears. Supposed to be going shopping with friend tomorrow but can't face trying to feed him in public while he's like this especially he ends up crying pretty much constantly as he's hungry. Back on Gaviscon with every bottle but he's not taking them any better. Hate to think what sort of night he's going to have on so little milk. Feeling really weak & like I just can't cope.

Oh no Claire! They all have good days and bad but the bad days can feel so awful! I hope things are back on their way up for you now.

I seem to be having a good few days so I'm sure we're due a nightmare soon. Catherine did another 8 hour sleep last night between 10pm and 6am. Would have been perfect only DS got up at 12.30, 2 and 4am!! He was so tired that he then slept in till 7.30am but as I was up with Catherine, I didn't get the lie in!

She is very clingy at the moment too. Wants to be held all the time. She should be over her jabs by now shouldn't she? They were on Monday.

I've bought DS one of those Grobag Clocks to help with his sleeping but I think because he's not used to a night light, it's actually keeping him awake! I set it for 7am yesterday morning and he got up at 6.15 so I set it for 6.15 this morning which didn't work either. If I could get him to go through the night regularly again, I'd be getting plenty of sleep. Can't decided whether or not I need to get him to sleep before he starts pre-school or just hope that pre-school tires him out so much, he sleeps better???

Kingsroadie · 04/03/2010 17:37

Hi everyone,

Claire - sorry to hear that - it's rubbish - I know how you feel - I felt like that - do you think it's worth going to see your GP again as sounds like the gaviscon isn't working that well anymore. That happened to us - it worked for a few weeks and then stopped working completely. The GP can try ranitadine to try and neutralise the acid in his tummy (which didn't work for us) alternatively - are you formula? I assume so - it might be worth investigating different milk free formulas - like cow and gate pepti or pepti junior or nutramigen (which is disgusting) or , like me, neocate. 50% of reflux babies also have a milk intolerance my paediatrician told me so perhaps worth a go. You can get them all on prescription. The neocate really helped us. She is also on omeprazole too which stopped all the arching etc. And now has been prescribed - yesterday - domperidone as she is still projectile vomiting 3 hours after a feed completely undigested milk - this should help tighten the sphincter muscle of the tummy and help the contents pass through the tummy quicker. will see how that goes as picking it up tmrw afternoon. Sorry for ramble but honestly Claire, I didn't realise how bad it had got until I stopped - perhaps worth speaking to Gp and really pushing for something else...If you want to of course

P's op is next tuesday and am dreading it - I have good and bad days where I am in tears at the thought as she is so happy and lovely and gurgling and smiling and I am just dreading that she will be so unhappy afterwards and i can't even explain why . Anyway I just want it now sort of so I can stop worrying.

GS - great sleeping still. She is doing 7-11-7 (but had a funny two days when she woke at 4:30 and cried for a while but I just ignored her) so am going to start bringing the 11pm feed back I think.
Hope everyone else well!

AmazingBouncingFerret · 04/03/2010 18:06

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is getting on alright.

Finally went to go get Elizabeth weighed 11lb 12oz!

Claire236 · 04/03/2010 18:53

kingsroadie - thanks for the advice. ds2 makes me feel very isolated & it's good to know I'm not the only one whose baby's like this. He's fed better today so hoping he'll continue as he is. He's not having much milk though. Only about 3ozs every 3 hours rather than his usual 4-5. Might get him weighed again next week if he carries on having so little milk. Good luck for the op. It will probably be worse for you than her.

Is anyone else completely exhausted in spite of getting a reasonable amount of sleep? Can't believe how tired I am all the time. Find it really hard to summon the energy to do anything.

GoldenSnitch · 04/03/2010 21:18

I seem to be finding that the more sleep I have, the more tired I am. It's almost as if I can cope on the tiny amount of sleep I get but if I get the chance to fall properly asleep, I almost can't wake back up again

Poor DS, the better he sleeps, the more grumpy Mummy is. It's no wonder he got up 3 times last night - today we've made banana bread and played loads!

DH's world has just fallen apart - He's just found out that the first race of the Formula 1 season is at 12pm on Mother's day - after he agreed to go out for lunch with his Mum, his Sisters and Me. Table is booked for 12pm ROFL Anyone else going to be an F1 widow?

sparklycheerymummy · 04/03/2010 21:26

my ds is a piggy and is often sicky..... which is usually fine cos i dont care if i smell of sick or if i have sick on me as long as ds is with me nd people dont just think i am a scruff!! ds is now a WHOPPING 16lb 12.5 ozs!! but is following his dreaded bloomin line!! I am having ups and downs with bf but today was a good day and i have started feeding when out again as i am more confident and less fussed if i flash! Thinking about giving him one bottle of formula as he was sleeping through and has just started waking..... this could be his 12 week growth spurt though?? we have been swimming today and he loved it!!! I just find it quite stressful though!!

CLaire i hope you are feeling a bit brighter.... its so hard being a mummy and sometimes it seems relentless!!!

my dp is the one causing me grief..... he asked me when he was supposed to have time for himself in the day..... i swore at him a(second word off) and stormed out!!

sparklycheerymummy · 04/03/2010 21:27

I am just waiting to see if dp bothers sorting mothers day!!

GoldenSnitch · 04/03/2010 22:31

I've just seen the local paper and MK General's Maternity Unit has been put under special measures cause it's failing so badly.

I've finished having children so will never need to go there again but it still gives me chills.

At least 2 unneccessary deaths in the past 2 years

Tillyscoutsmum · 05/03/2010 08:42

DS is 19lb at 11 weeks No wonder he's bloody feeding all the time. I am so jealous of your sleep. We did have our best night yet last night though ... He fed constantly until 9.30pm, then woke for a feed at 11.30, then went until 4 am !! He was then awake every 45 mins until we got up at 7.30 though It is improving though

Claire236 · 05/03/2010 09:41

GS - not an F1 widow but a football & cricket widow depending on time of year. dh plays & watches both.

Going out for lunch on mothers day but going at 1230 so dh can still play football in the afternoon.

I'm thinking about taking ds2 swimming but not managed it yet.

GS - that's really horrible about your hospital. Makes you realize how lucky we all are.

tillyscoutsmum - you must be looking forward to starting weaning. You've obv got a hungry boy on your hands.

sparkly - your conversation with your dp sounds familiar. dh sometimes whines like a baby about not having time with me or time to himself. When do they think we get time to ourselves.

LaDiDaDi · 05/03/2010 10:14

Just trying to catch up!

Claire, sorry you had a bad day the other day, there will be better ones and don't worry about what other people think.

Kings, will think of you on Yues when P has her op.

TSM, how big ! Haven't had ds weighed for 3 weeks but guessing that he is around 11lb ish. Just starting to grow out of some of his smaller 0-3 month clothes.

Sparkly, dp and me are having ups and downs. Just want some more affection, part of it is that we are still sleeping in separate rooms so so that I can safely co-sleep with ds and I miss the cuddles.

Ds still waking twice in the night, he seems to be dropping his midnight feed but I'm not sure if this is because he is feeding more in the evening so not settling until later.
Bf all over here, the other day I fed him during my eye test, lovely optician wasn't at all phased, and yesterday I fed him sitting on a display sofa in M&S, overheard one silly comment but ignored it as the offender walked past.
No Mothers Day plans here, will prob visit my parents and MIL at some point on the day.

Tilly..... WOW that is a good size ds is 16lb 12.5 oz at 11 weeks so yours is even bigger than my monkey.... iam finding him hard to carry in his car seat bless him and he is already fitting his 3-6 months clothes without much room...... he is not fat though just BIG!!!! on the 98th centile and following it perfectly!!!

Ladidadi...... display sofa.... how funny! I sat in the park feeding ds on a park bench which was ok but my boobs were freezing and so was my roll of flab showing at the sides!!!

LaDiDaDi · 05/03/2010 22:44

sparkly, that's exactly why I've only been to the park once since ds was born!

OP posts:
Tillyscoutsmum · 06/03/2010 07:54

Yes Sparkly - I am struggling to carry DS. I had SPD and my back and hips still aren't right and DS likes to be carried around so my back is in bits. He has just gone into 6-9 month sleepsuits . DH is hoping he's a future England prop forward but he looks a bit like a sumo wrestler atm

I am generally a sport widow - F1, cycling, rugby, football - there's not a lot he won't watch. He is out on his bike all the blooming time and watching the various bike races on the tv is exceedingly dull

Kings - will be thinking of you too on Tuesday. You do sound like you are handling things brilliantly. Its so hard when they are poorly

We're at MIL's for Mother's Day (I've yet to break the news to my mother !). DH is a bit crap at things like Mother's Day so I'm not holding out much hope of getting anything
