Aleesmum - Hi there...hope you had a lovely Christmas. I'm a bit puzzled by the fact that your boss is giving you a hard time for wanting to go part-time. They aren't alloed to do that. You need to put it in writing the hours you want and to request flexible working hours. You can download the form from directgov website. They have to consider it, and can only decline with a very good excuse otherwise it's a form of discrimination.

In terms of feeding I cant help you as DD is FF and has 2 feeds a day one in the morning and one in the evening. Then 3 meals in the day in between. How about a big feed morning and night and express so that if he does need the 3rd feed it's there and you dont feel so awful about not being there to give it to him.

I go back to work in 2 weeks and am dreading it, so i know how you're feeling...but you never know, you might be in the 2 feeds stage by then anyhow!

HTH - and if you need anymore hr advice, you know where to come!

Jogolino · 29/12/2009 13:29

Sorry for not being on the thread for absolutely AGES !!! Real life has been getting in the way. I've been lurking from time to time, but haven't had much of a chance to actually post.

Hopefully once I'm back to work in January I'll have more time for MNetting...

A is thriving and is a podgy little lamb (!) He's 23lbs now so a bit of a weight to cart around. Doing ok with his eating (obviously) but will the little bubba actually SLEEP???? Nooooooooo..............

Missed you all quite a bit actually as things have been a bit fraught over the last few months (hence the lack of posting). DH and I are having serious ishoos....

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas! Ooh just remembered - I've name-changed...

Kalikaroo xx

GuimauveRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 29/12/2009 14:18

Cup of tea.
Piece of Christmas cake.
Pride and Prejudice DVD.

Bliss.

Back later

RudolphRocks · 29/12/2009 14:19

Hey lovelies

Who is keen to take their tree down? The central heating and Holly have left mine looking beyond pitiful.

Nuts - You post really made me smile. Hell yes, this is going to be your year! Nutty gets her groove back with a vengeance.
Your fb pics of the girls are gorgeous.

I'm quite excited about the coming year. It will be the first one since 2005 that I haven't spent some part of being pregnant.

I'm also looking forward to meeting BIL's baby which is due 4 weeks on Friday. It will be the girl's first cousin on DH's side.

BVicnod - Have you heard from MIL yet? She sounds awfully precious poor woman. Good on your DH for taking no nonsense.

MrsG - How was the wedding?

Ginger - High-fiving is very impressive. And cute.

Aleesmum - Welcome. Did you have a good Christmas?
Sorry I can't be of any help.

RudolphRocks · 29/12/2009 14:29

Jogolino - Good to hear from you. Sorry you are having difficulties with your Dh. I hope things work out.
And 23lbs. What a good size! Holly is only 17lbs.

Gui - Tea? I was considering a beer to accompany Muppets in Space. What different creatures we are.
Seriously though, I do hope we are talking Jennifer Ehle/Colin Firth and not Kiera Knightley/not Colin Firth?

GuimauveRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 29/12/2009 14:32

Hell, yes. Colin Firth of course. Woof.

PuzzleRocks · 29/12/2009 14:36

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that Colin Firth must be in want of a Mumsnet spit roast.

Too much for this time of day?

PuzzleRocks · 29/12/2009 14:37

Must go, I have been handed a net. It's Elefun time.

GuimauveRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 29/12/2009 14:46

Blinkin' disc needs changing, but I'm trapped under a sleeping baby. Darcy has just declared how fervently he admires and loves Elizabeth.

Sooooooooo...yeah.....

I hope everyone has had a lovely Christmas. We had a nice few days at my parents', relaxing, eating, watching too much Poirot. The turkey sandwiches were many. Thanks in advance to my secret Santa - I'm afraid it has not arrived yet, but this is not a problem, as I'm in a bit of a post-Christmas decline at the mo', and a wee package in the post will be just the thing to perk me up.

Hi Aleesmum and welcome! From what I've read around and about here (MN), most babies will be fine through the day without milk by that age, but may well play catch-up in the evenings! I'm in the same position as you - back to work in 2 months () and my DS still has at least 4 breast feeds over the period in which I'll be at work. However, he is definitely starting to decrease the amount of milk he takes (further ) and drink more water, and can now go for at least 5 hours with food/ water but no milk. I'm vaguely planning to express so he can continue to have bm in the daytime, but not enthusiastic about it.

Would it be madness, do you suppose, to consider going across to the creche during my lunch breaks to feed him?

GuimauveRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 29/12/2009 14:47

Do you not require a second fella for that Puzz? Col. Fitzwilliam would do, I think.

GuimauveRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 29/12/2009 14:50

Oops, sorry Jogolino, forgot to say hi! Is your new name in honour of running?

we3kingbeat23oforientare · 29/12/2009 15:06

Muppets in space? where?? what channel, please tell me that it's on tv...i've been watching a crap remake of Jason and the Argonauts for ages thinking it was Wentworth Miller with a really bad mullet (watchable) and have now realised it's not him (unwatchable) so have changed to E! true stories about Dirty Dancing....please tell me that the Muppets are on somewhere before my brain dissolves!

HeiligFeierabend · 29/12/2009 17:21

Oooh, Darcy. Yummy. We're off to the spa in a couple of hours, leaving my parents to look after the girls. I hope they won't play up, Hazel has been extremely clingy recently. She must NOT wake up while I am away or my mum won't be able to get her back to sleep...

Rudolph your post made me think... for me 2010 will also be the first year since 2005 where I am not pregnant. Feels odd, but good!

Hello Kali!

Welcome Aleesmum, have you considered letting your DS have bottles of formula at nursery?

SantasNutts · 29/12/2009 18:34

GuimauveRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 29/12/2009 18:43

Tree down Nutty? But why? You're good until 6th Jan!

Bicnod · 29/12/2009 19:49

Evening ladies...

Nutty - your post made me - 2010 is definitely your year.

Auld - I think teething is worse at night - apparently lying on their backs exacerbates the pain

Ginger - about going back to work... what are you going to do with V while at work?

MrsG - how was the wedding? Bet you looked fab

Aleesmum - welcome Nothing useful to say I'm afraid. I've just weaned O. Well, he weaned himself actually - I wanted to continue bf morning and night up to a year but he refused the boob in favour of the bottle. Many tears (mine) later and I've accepted I'm no longer a bf mummy He currently has three meals a day and a 7 or 8oz bottle morning, afternoon and evening. Is your LO on three good meals a day yet? Hopefully he'll drop feeds by the time you go back to work - O did once he was chowing down a bit more...

Kingbeat - also about going back to work

Kali/Jogo welcome back hope you are ok x x x

Gui - MMMMMMMMMMM Colin Firth. I actually love him.

Fei - LOL at you asking DM to put H on her boob when is your DH back at work? We should get together soon.

Puzzle - Nope, no word from DH's mum. She is such a toxic cow. DH is resolved not to get in touch with her this time. He says he's had enough of her unreasonable behaviour and feels relieved that he will at the very least have a break from her for a while. I keep trying to play devil's advocate - what if something happens to her, how will you feel?, maybe you should write her a letter etc etc as I don't want him to regret anything but he's adamant so I guess that's it for the time being. Stupid woman - I really hope she comes to her senses.

Right - that took me about forty minutes to compose as settled O a few times and had phone conversation with DH so I'm probably about to x-post with the entire world...

...here goes

Bicnod · 29/12/2009 19:50

Yay! No x-posts...

...oh, and Fei, have a fantastic time at the spa - not at all

Elfytigga · 29/12/2009 20:01

HarrietHoo · 29/12/2009 23:08

hello girls

HarkTheHerAuldAngelsSing · 30/12/2009 08:47

Am at MIL's, surviving (just) but may well have no teeth left when we go, as they are permanently gritted.

No time to post much, this is really just to say HAPPY NEW YEAR to all the warriors, hope 2010 is Nutty's year and everyone else's too.
May it be filled with smiles, shags and above all SLEEP.
I have already done my maudlin post months ago, but it is worth repeating that this thread means a lot to me, as do all the warriors, and I hope to be at the next meet-up (esp if it's in France (wink) (no square brackets on MIL's keyboard: she is sucha party-pooper)).

French bisous to you all, see you in 2010.

HarkTheHerAuldAngelsSing · 30/12/2009 08:48

Who is HarrietHoo? I am veree lost.

ZuluWassailer · 30/12/2009 09:06

I don't know who HH is Auld. If she's new - hello! If she's a name changer - REVEAL!!

AA - I have perfected my gritted teeth and fixed smile too this Christmas - mostly at my own mother .

Aleesmum I'm back at work 3 days a week. I BF morning and night and DS gets about 4oz formula mid morning and mid afternoon. But I'm fairly sure that I could cut that down to one or even at a push just give him water as long as he ate lots of dairy stuff. Unfortunately can't get him to drink enough water to try though! Not sure if this is the textbook answer or not.

Feier how was the spa? Did your Mum get her tits oot right enough?

All calm here. DH is off for 2 weeks - hurrah! and I even got a lie in this morning . It was bliss. He's being wonderful actually and I've had loads of time to play with my new kenwood chef. Am I officially a saddo?

HarrietHoo · 30/12/2009 10:39

Auld - have mailed you lovely

we3kingbeat23oforientare · 30/12/2009 10:47
