Hello Harriet and welcome! I've accepted your request to join the FW page on fb . You are most welcome here! It gets a bit speedy at times (though it's awful quiet round here at the mo' ), so don't worry if you can't keep up, just dive right in!

Very jealous of your spa, Feier! Hope you are thoroughly relaxed.

WFH - I meant to say that H is still only in a long-sleeved bodysuit (no legs) and a grobag at night and even then when he gets up he's absolutely toasty hot inside. Good luck for your Mum's scan tomorrow.

HeiligFeierabend · 30/12/2009 14:13

How's Mr Darcy doing Gui?

GoodKingWhatFreshHellLookedOut · 30/12/2009 14:30

Hi Harriet! Welcome - it's all a bit strange here but you'll fit right in I'm sure.

So blood tests back and it's not hepatitis, so fingers crossed for ultrasound this pm. Should hear by about teatime.

Will catch up in a bit, have got guests coming for NYE and house needs something serious doing to it - possibly setting fire to it and starting again, to be honest

GuimauveRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 30/12/2009 14:41

Oh yes, it's Wednesday today, isn't it. Thought it was Tuesday. Duh. Even when not at work bank holidays throw me Good luck for this afternoon.

GuimauveRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 30/12/2009 14:41

Oh and Fei, I reckon he's in!

BErriesBEllsandMOOnlight · 30/12/2009 15:12

HarrietHoo · 30/12/2009 19:11

thanks for the welcome ladies

no plans for the new year here i'm afraid, nevermind thoguht there are other times to go out.

mrsgboring · 30/12/2009 19:22

Hello hello all

WFH about setting fire to house - I am always threatening to have fires (usually small, highly localised fires in certain sections of DH's wardrobe). Good luck for your mum tomorrow.

Welcome Harriet

Bebe, sorry you're ill again - you're not having much luck there are you?

Fei very of spa. I've just booked MIL and FIL into the spa at Centerparcs and wish it was me.

So wedding was great and very easy socially. It was very very small. Given that an Asian wedding/walima under 500 people is generally considered small, we were quite surprised it was just the two immediate families. I wore my shalwar and enjoyed it so much I'm hoping to wear it for New Year, if I can get the babyfood stains out. It's only a leeetle tight over my vast breastfeeding bust, so I think I got away with it.

We're going to a New Year's Eve party en famille and then I'm taking the kids home when they start kicking off. Which will be straight away at the rate we're going. DS1, who is normally a lovely and pretty well behaved (if boisterous and demanding) boy has turned into an utter nightmare since getting ill just before Christmas. I don't really know what to do. I suppose it will go back to normal soon. I am just exhausted and a bit sad over DD and ashamed I bought DS1 so many presents and .... well you know how it is. There's plenty of you on here having it far worse. I shall shut up now.

I think I know what I'm missing. A festive biscuit:

Another? Don't mind if I do

There really is no avoiding sorting the washing is there?

Where are my manners? Have a biscuit everyone - I'll only get fat(ter) if I eat them all myself.

Elfytigga · 30/12/2009 19:29

Waves tiredly to all - tell me he'll sleep in the New Year!

WouldReallyLoveToKnowWhoHHIsTiggaxx

mrsgboring · 30/12/2009 19:35

You will have sleep soon Tigga. At least you probably will

ReallyAmGoingToFoldLaundryNowMrsG

GuimauveRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 30/12/2009 19:51

Keep up, Tiggs. HH and Aleesmum are both newbs.
I replied to your recipe post on fb if you wouldn't mind popping over there - I'd like the 40 cloves garlic recipe too please! I think I may need a bigger slow-cooker to do the other one justice.

kazkissingunderthemiseltoe · 30/12/2009 20:07

oooh slow cooker recipes??? My IL brought me a 6.5l one after i got slightly obsessed with my little one! So any slowcooker recipes are welcome. (especially babyfriendly freezer friendly ones) Made a big ol batch of spag bol yesterday. Gonna make a chilli tomorrow so need more ideas..

GoodKingWhatFreshHellLookedOut · 30/12/2009 21:00

Hello hello

So the news from the ultrasound is that they could see that some of the bile ducts are blocked, which is what's causing the problem. Unfortunately, they can't see what's causing the blockage, so she's got to have an MRI to find out. Should happen in next two weeks, apparently, although she might invoke her private health insurance to get it quicker.

At least they didn't throw up their hands and start talking about lumps or masses, so we're choosing to think that's good news. Apparently there's some sort of benign lesions that women are more prone to than men that can cause this, so we hope it's that. We like the word benign. A lot.

mrsgboring I don't know if you remember but DS1 was ill a few months ago and behaved appallingly, even when I thought he was better it went on for quite a while. You'll be relieved to know that he isn't like that now And thank you for the

As for sadness over DD.....I have moments of feeling sad about DS1.5, too. Funnily enough, not over Christmas, but at random moments it just all comes flooding back. Think it's one of those things you always carry with you, isn't it? And so it should be, I'd hate to think of me forgetting completely. Hope it isn't too overwhelming [hugs]

I haven't opened my SS present yet - we couldn't carry all the presents to Scotland so have saved about half under the tree. We're going to open them tomorrow morning when DP is back. So I'm not being rude by not posting how much I loved my presents yet!

Feier nude sauna? Very brave. I'm not ready to show anyone my post-three-pregnancies body just yet.

Bebe sorry to hear you're all ill again. Hope it clears up soon.

We have four friends and two babies coming tomorrow for NYE - one of the families is staying in a hotel though as we have no room for more than one family, really, unless people sleep on floors or in baths. DP is cooking beef ribs and dauphinoise potatoes - I braved Waitrose this morning with both children and almost had to use DS1 as a battering ram. Have forgotten pancetta and not bought wine, but I think that's DP's job.

Can someone explain how I get to the FB group? I used to click on the link in my profile, but that's gone, so now how do I get there? I'm not very good at FB

GuimauveRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 30/12/2009 21:35

WFH - do you know, I'm not sure. I've always done the same. I'll try and to get you sorted. Sounds like good news about your Mum, but a speedy private scan sounds like an excellent idea - get it all sorted and behind you!

BErriesBEllsandMOOnlight · 30/12/2009 21:49

Moo is teething again AND ill with some cold (she's hacking up a lung every other minute). DH is also ill and I'm back in a low iron daze paired with a cold. Fingers crossed she's better by Monday when dh leaves again.
Thanks for the well wishing.

We're staying in too tomorrow (since we're ill). Hope everyone else has a really great night.

on FB just type in fanjo into the search engine in the upper right then double click on the link that drops down and the page should come up

ZuluWassailer · 30/12/2009 21:56

Sorry to hear about MORE illness Bebe. You have the worst luck.

Hope your Mum gets her MRI soon WFH.

Hello to everyone else!

I'm working night shift tomorrow. I should be annoyed as Hogmanay is the biggest event of the year in Scotland but I was just grateful to have Christmas off.

BW took his first crawl today. He is a dangerous boy now. I'm surprised he hasn't injured himself with the coal scuttle which he is determined to pull on top of himself

HarrietHoo · 30/12/2009 22:11

WFH - oooh fab news! glad its getting sorted quickly for her xx

BeBe - my lo is the same at the moment, wont sleep and very snotty and red cheeked and VERY grumpy, so sympathies xx

mrsgboring · 30/12/2009 22:12

Oh thank you WFH you give me hope re the appalling behaviour. You're right about it being a good thing to always carry our lost children's memory with us. I'm fine really, just get bent out of shape over various people's innocuous remarks and it's turning me into a bitter old cow. Continued finger crossing for your mum's MRI.

Hello also to Aleesmum - sorry I missed you before (thanks for the kick, Gui)

Yay for BW crawling. Edmund is desperate to crawl but just not getting it - he can very slowly shuffle backwards and it gets him soooo frustrated poor lamb.

Now if I could just find time for Facebook it sounds like you're all having a fab time talking food. But I think bed beckons....

WrigglyResolutions · 31/12/2009 06:55

Hullooo

Thank you for my Secret Santa. Scantily clad chaps doing housework.... maybe I could encourage DH to include that amongst his new year's resolutions.....

WFH - glad news so far on your mother is OK. Fingers crossed for the next tests.

Welcome Aleesmum. You are entitled to request part time work. You could even do it in the short term if that would fit in with your work (ie for a few months until weaning complete). I actually looked at going back for half days (ie mornings only) instead of 3 or 4 full days. I couldn't face leaving her for a whole day and she was a complete boob-a-holic too. I'm not a good example though as in the end I didn't go back at all.

Am thinking about it a lot at the moment as an old boss is trying to lure me back into work.

Oh DD awakes - got to go

Feierabend · 31/12/2009 09:01

Good morning. Wriggly what DID you get from your SS? [curious]

WFH glad to hear the good news about your mum and am also keeping my fingers crossed. And am very of more presents under your tree!

Our NYE will be cheese fondue, a board game or two and then fireworks. Unfortunately the fireworks usually go on all night so not expecting much sleep... and DD1 will have her own little fireworks before bedtime.

Can you believe my lazy DH is still asleep? And Germany is an hour ahead! Well I guess I will make him get up with the kids tomorrow when he's hungover.

Can't remember what else I wanted to say...

Feierabend · 31/12/2009 09:04

Oh yes I do remember now, boo for illnesses. We took Hazel to a German paed because she had a horrible cough over Christmas, and oh how nice it is to go to the doctors in Germany. It's all so new, clean and shiny and we got an appointment on the same evening although I didn't phone the paed until 4pm. She listened to everything I said, asked some very good questions and prescribed some medicine that breaks down the phlegm (although we're not using it after all, but in the UK they would have just done the usual spiel of 'it's just a virus, give Calpol').

Seriously contemplating moving to Germany just for the fantastic health care!

Kalikaroo · 31/12/2009 09:44

Happy Hogmanay everyone!

Thanks for the welcome back into the fold!

I'm having a lovely baby-free couple of hours while DH takes A out for a walk in the snow (we've got -10 C here - brrrrrr...). Dh and I have been having some problems, but we're trying to work through them. Not helped of course by the total lack of sleep I'm getting at the mo' (know quite a few of you can feel my pain! ).

However, the biggest disaster of the decade has just happened - I've come down with sinusitus and can't drink alcohol on the antibiotics I've been given....aaarrrggghhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!! How on earth will I be able to survive Hogmanay without booze???????????????????????????????

AIBU to feel totally conflicted over night feeds?: I know having lots of feeds at night is making me completely knackered and A is getting a bit old for it, BUT it seems that BF lots has allowed me, for the first time in my life, to actually eat what I want and NOT put on weight....yum yum

What do you all reckon?????

Bicnod · 31/12/2009 09:58

Kali - I reckon SLLLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEPPP is the most important thing in the whole wide world. Well, in my world anyway. Ok, maybe O is slightly more important than sleep. And DH at a push. But as a general rule I choose sleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep I don't think you'll put on shedloads of weight for dropping nightfeeds anyway.

Boooooo to all the poorliness... hope babies (and mummies) get better soon x x x

Welcome to the madhouse HH

WFH - good news so far on your mum - hope she gets scan soon. Will keep everything crossed.

Right. Must got and DO STUFF. It's too cold though and I can't be arsed and my boobs hurt.

Oh yes, that was what I wanted to ask. So I stopped breastfeeding O a week ago and my right boob (his favourite before he rejected me. Sob. ) is very lumpy and hard and tender. It is also about twice the size of my left boob. No telltale signs of mastitis so I'm assuming this is just what happens when you stop breastfeeding. Any ideas how long it will last? And will it shrink down to the size of the other one or am I deformed for life?!
