Jael Hope DD gets seen at after hours quickly and starts feeling better soon.

Fire How's your boob?? That sounds really sore!

Momi Glad DD1s birthday went well but about the night wakings. I haven't got any great ideas sorry but do DD1 & 2 share a room?? Maybe they need to swap rooms for a bit to try to work out which one is waking the other???

Pula I really hope your Christmas shop is delivered as it will be a mission to get all that from the shop yourself.

Llaregg Have you tried wearing an old cardi to bed to keep you warm??

Ses It sounds like O like his new room.

Spangle Hope H is better now. R had a mottled rash thingy on his face but I think its from being out in the cold and then being in the warm house. It has dried his skin out a bit. I'll be keeping an eye on it though.

Well I have been ill again. I spent most of yesterday in bed and even missed Strictly Final but caught up this morning on sky+. Very happy with the result. Loved the final. DH was really hung over today as he had his work do last night. I've never seen him so bad . We went up the high street to try to finish our Christmas shopping but as we both felt a bit grim and it was really busy we didn't get much. I'll have to go tomorrow.

Mominohoho · 20/12/2009 21:26

jael, hope all is well with your dd and she is on the mend very, very soon.

febes, hope you're feeling better as well.

yes, Dd1&2 share a room and i think they take turns waking each other up. dd1 seems to be the main culprit though and i thought it would be a good idea to isolate her in another room since dd2 and H sleep well. then, we can tackle the problem better without affecting the others.

pula, they each have a cup of water, a cuddly toy, an extra blanket... i'm sure they'll find something else to ask for though at 1, 2, 330 and 4am.

hope all are well tonight.

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 20/12/2009 21:34

febes glad you're feeling a bit better tonight and as for my sore bits well they're a bit nippy still.. but not as bad as this am.

i've been crocheting grace's xmas stocking this evening.. nearly half way now
FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 20/12/2009 21:39

momino swapping them around has to be worth a shot.. it surely can't be any worse

pulacracker · 20/12/2009 22:25

Hurray- Tescos brought the shopping . I felt really sorry for the delivery man - it was freezing outside!

Already tucked into the Rocky Road mmmm. Must try not to eat everything over the next few days. At least we don't have to do an emergency shop now for nappies, milk, bread,...

Jael · 20/12/2009 22:25

DD has the novovirus, and has been let home, if she doesn't keep anything down tomorrow or Tuesday, then we have to take her back, and she has to have a drip put in to feed her, as she's not getting any fluid in her and was slightly dehydrated when he checked her over. Her stomach was fine though, nice and soft, so there was no problems there, and her temp and everything else was fine. I really hope she gets rid of this soon, because she's so poorly. She's been given dyoralite, but she hates the taste, and it's like forcing it in her, and then i've got to basically follow her around the house with the sick bowl in case she throws it up... and I really don't want her to go into hospital so I'm really praying she starts keeping something down...

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 20/12/2009 22:53

oh no jael I hope she's on the mend really soon.

yay pula glad your food arrived in the end

pulacracker · 20/12/2009 22:58

Jael- your poor DD- hope she manages to take some fluids in, and starts to feel better soon, especially in time for christmas.

llareggub · 20/12/2009 23:08

jael your poor DD. I hope she recovers quickly.

Am off to bed, with heating on tonight!

HarktheHeadlessAngelsSing · 21/12/2009 08:30

jael really hope your DD feels better soon. xx

HarktheHeadlessAngelsSing · 21/12/2009 10:06

Ladies,

Guess who has just turned up to finish the job he started about 8 weeks ago???

Yes.

Sexy builder!!!

All I can say is, phwoaaaoooaaaarrrr.

Brightened up my monday morning, I can tell you.

Who wants him after I've finished with him?

Febesisachristmascracker · 21/12/2009 10:18

Fire Good on you for making G a stocking. My mum has cross stitched and sewn stockings for DH and I and DD got her's last year. Not sure if she has done one for R yet as she has been so busy helping look after the new baby twins. She also did a beautiful knitted one with that cool feathery wool for DD's first christmas so R will have that one for his first christmas. I'll take a photo of them to show you at some stage- I want to see yours as well.

Jael Oh no the norovirus is nasty. Hope DD takes something down soon so you do't have to go back to hospital.

Momi Maybe a room swap is a good idea then. Anything is worth a try!!

My sleep problem is not getting any better. Last night R woke at 9.50 which is only 3 hours after he went to bed so I refused to feed him. I cuddled him and shushed and patted and left him to cry (I was lying in bed beside him though) After about 30 mins I gave calpol to make sure it wasn't pain. At 11.35 I finally caved in a fed him. After that I think he went to 5am and then 6.30 and we got up at 8. I feel like I just don't know what I'm doing as he is just not improving. 2 hours of cry is not normal at 7 months is it?? I have a baby amber necklace on him now which hasn't made any difference yet. I'm being consistent and doing all the things they say to do. If anyone has any other ideas please help. I end up getting really angry with him . We are going away for christmas so I think I will just feed him if he wakes until we get back and then make a new plan.

Hope everyone else is ok.

Febesisachristmascracker · 21/12/2009 10:21

Headless Ohhhhhhh sexy builder Just in time for our Christmas thread party .

A parcel from my mum just arrived. Should I a) leave it till Christmas morning or b) open it now to cheer me up......

essenceofSES · 21/12/2009 10:54

Morning!

O slept from 8-5 last night!!! First time he's ever slept through!!
Just a shame I didn't sleep well as the dogs woke me and DH up at 1am (but didn't wake up O!) and then I was looking at the clock every hour!

Febes - sorry for bad night. I've tried working out what's different when O has good nights and I have no idea. It seems to be completely random!
As for the parcel, if it were me I'd open it!

Jael - I had norovirus a few years ago and it really is nasty. Your poor DD is probably feeling really awful and I hope she improves quickly for your sake as well as hers. I think mine was really bad for 48hrs and then took me a few more days to get back to normal. Hopefully she won't have to go back to hospital and will be alright for Christmas Day.

Headless - yay for sexy builder!! Not sure when we're going to get started on our extension but you can send him my way by all means!!

Fi - hope you've had no more latch issues. That sounded really painful.

Grumpy - hope you've travelled back ok!

Pula - yay for tesco and Rocky Road!

SpangleMaker · 21/12/2009 13:08

Jael your poor DD Hope she recovers quickly and you don't need another trip to hospital.

Ses yay for O and his sleeping! Can he send some sleeping vibes H's way please? Hope you get a repeat performance and manage to sleep through yourself this time!

pula glad you got your delivery. Mine was 2 hours late because the first van had an accident and went off the road. I do feel sorry for the drivers having to go to all sorts of places in the snow and ice.

Febes I wish I had some advice for you re R's sleeping, but it seems we are in the same boat at the moment. Last night H went to bed late (9.30pm) because we were out, but then woke up at 1.15am, 3am and 4.30am. I made half-hearted attempts at shushing but caved in pretty quickly and fed him each time. For the last few weeks he has been waking between 10-11pm, 1.30am, 3.30am and 5.30am . I generally have the philosopy of following H's lead (and am too weak/lazy for sleep training) but I'm just soooo exhausted.

Mominohoho · 21/12/2009 13:20

jael, hope DD's ok, bless her. Hope you're holding up ok as well.

Febes, 1st of all, open the parcel. It will lift your mood. 2nd, not sure about the sleeping. when H wakes up early evning we do leave her to whimper and if she cries harder we pick her up and do the pat/shush thing (might have to do that about 5 times). could it be teething? shame the Calpol didn't work. but if R cries for 2 hours then by all means feed and don't think twice about it.

grumpy, welcome back!

pula, you're lucky about the tesco shop. I wasn't so organised this year so missed out on our Sainsbury Christmas slot which means DH will be going out Wed PM for last minute food stuff.

everyone ok today?

night wasn't too horrible. dd2 woke up twice and I was reaaallly nice so I think it helped settle her back down. the 2nd time, though, she was stood right next to the bed, her face close to my face and scared the bejeezus out of me .

question about milk, how much are yours taking? Harper is really cutting down, and I must admit forgetting to offer sometimes . she's still BF but am contemplating moving to FF. currently she has:
Morning: full BF when she wakes up then has weetabix and yoghurt for breakfast.
Lunch: she has whatever we're having plus some finger foods, water or diluted juice and teeny bit of BF.
Afternoon: a BF at 3pmish but she's not taking much.
Evening: BF before or middle of her supper then again before she goes to sleep.

does that sound similar to what you're doing? I must say that she'd probably skip the lunch milk if I didn't remember to offer.

SpangleMaker · 21/12/2009 13:28

momino well H is still all but exclusively BF since he doesn't eat much in the way of solids yet, but my NCT friend's 8mo isn't having any BFs in the day at all now, just morning, evening then once in the night. She didn't deliberately stop offering but also forgets to offer and her DD doesn't 'ask', so she figures her DD is ready to drop the feeds.

Mominohoho · 21/12/2009 13:39

thanks spangle. I think she's taking more food now so taking less milk than a month ago. she does seem to cluster feed in the evening still but probably because she's stocking up for the night.

HarktheHeadlessAngelsSing · 21/12/2009 13:50

momi H's milk intake sounds similar to R's. Although he is FF, his bottle timings pretty much sound the same as H's. I have noticed that he is less and less interested in his FFs during the day and the amounts are definately decreasing.

And the other piece of good news. (apart from sexy builder who has now departed )The camera that we lost at the wedding 3 weeks ago has turned up!! The bride had it, and she has just got back from honeymoon. Hurrah.

llareggub · 21/12/2009 14:03

Momino yes, I think G has a similar amount of milk. He definitely feeds less but eats more now.

Freeeeeeeeeeezing cold here. My fingers are too cold to type yet I have to brave the cold because I forgot to book a delivery and now I need to do a supermarket shop. Grr.

pulacracker · 21/12/2009 14:19

Momino- S definitely has less milk now, and has actually started to "ask" for it (by nuzzling into my chest searching for it!). But he still feeds a lot at night .

I feel really guilty now though, as S was awake a lot last night, and i was so tired i left him to cry twice which i have never done before, but as i didn't get to sleep until 1.30am, i was still tired when he woke at 3am, and then i was worried he would want to start the day when he woke at 5.30. He wasn't even hungry when he finally woke at 7.15am. But he was ill . Took him to the doctors, and he has suspected impetigo and the one spot he had on Saturday and a bit of a rash has now spread over a lot of his body, mostly his face. So he's now on antibiotics and hopefully it will clear by christmas.

Febesisachristmascracker · 21/12/2009 14:19

Thanks for the sympathy everyone!! I opened the parcel and found my Christmas stocking that my mum made me (although DH's one isn't there ) a really nice Christmas decoration that has been promptly put up on the wall and lots of little wrapped pressies for us all which have been put aside to be opened on Christmas morning. So all in all very happy I opened it.

Momi I fed R this morning at 5 and then a top up at 6.30 and then he had breakfast at 8.30 1/2 weetabix and yogurt. He then had a nap at 10 and woke at 11.20. As it was so close to lunch I didn't feed him as I normally offer at 11. He ate a banana and so pasta with tomato and cheese sauce. I feed him at 1.30 and put him down for another nap. I will feed him again before or after dinner and before bed.
I would really like to start dropping feeds but as he is still feeding at night I would rather drop those ones first.

pulacracker · 21/12/2009 14:33

Febes- I meant to offer my sympathies too. This night waking lark is so frustrating. We usually try and settle S for half an hour and if that doesn't work i will feed him if calpol or cuddles don't work.

Febesisachristmascracker · 21/12/2009 14:37

Thanks Pula. I'll do the same and try again after Christmas.

Ses Fab news about O's sleeping through. I live in hope.

Mominohoho · 21/12/2009 18:50

hi all. sounds like they're all about the same with milk, thanks for sharing. Just wanted to know if I'm 'doing it right'.

pula, don't be hard on yourself about crying. the nighttime is when we are most sensitive, irritable, etc. sometimes i've been so tired I've done same.

well tried to make truffles today and took hours because we had so many interruptions: nappies, crying, had to go out to buy more choc, etc. we're halfway done so will finish tomorrow.

Headless, sexybuilder, I say! me next!

time for bed (wish it were me going) so ready to herd them upstairs.
