FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 13/12/2009 09:30

morning! tummum

Febesisachristmascracker · 13/12/2009 09:46

Morning!!!

Ses Parum Can I join you in a DH rant. This morning he had to leave for work at 9 so I got the DCs up and made bacon and eggs for brekkie. Something we used to do every weekend but have no time for these days.
Anyway he floated down stairs and ate while I made breakfast, coffees, emptied dishwasher, folded washing and put out another load, tidied up breakfast things etc etc etc
When I took R out of his hign chair I noticed he had done a major poo explosion. I probably should have put him in the bath but I just attacked him with the wipes. It was everywhere. so when he was finally naked and clean there was a massive pile of pooy clothes, nappy and wipes beside me. DH got up and walked past me and came back in with....... his coffee .

He didn't quite understand that I might need a hand with maybe clearing the poo or getting R dressed or keeping DD away from the poo. When I asked him to get me a vest from the washing pile he was like 'Why didn't you ask me before I went in to get the coffee? . Honestly do they even go through brain land??

Anyway now he's at work all day and I've just realised he took the buggy in the back of the car so I'm stuck at home all day now.

Muddled IKWYM about the state of the house. I just don't know where to start with mine. The combination of being ill for the past 6 weeks and having the tiling done in the kitchen/diner last week has meant that I have completely lost the plot with the cleaning and sorting. I have washing hanging everywhere (never had a tumbler dryer). I am still 2 loads behind and I haven't done the bedding on ages so really want to catch up and get that done this week. I gave the kitchen a quick clean yesterday but you can't even tell now. One of the problems with a nice new tiled floor is that after a meal with a 2yo and 7mo you basically need to mop to make it look nice again. At least with my old grubby wooden floorboards and lino you couldn't really see the messy . I go through alot of Flash wipes as I'm really lazy even though I don't think they are the most eco friendly options.

Pula Glad S is improving with his dummy training. Last night was much better for us. R went straight to sleep at 6.45 and ony woke at 1am so I fed him and then he woke at 3.30 so I left him to cry but he didn't resettle so after 4 I took him into bed and patted him until he fell asleep. He stayed in our bed after that and I only fed him at 7 so feed wise it was a great night just wish he didn't wake and scream.

pulacracker · 13/12/2009 10:53

Febes Ses Parumpatum - DHs eh? grrr rant away. Mine has been very good lately but did make me when i said i'd cleaned and tidied the kitchen whilst he was out (I was very pleased i'd done it whilst making tea and entertaining DS2 as he isnt good at multitasking) and he said he didn't notice .

Febes- we have decided to do the dummy wean first, then we will tackle the night feeds when we have more energy when DH is off over Christmas. Last night DS2 stirred at 10 so i fed him, he stirred again at 1.30 and i fed again, but then he stayed asleep until 6.45 so not bad really.

Well it's the nursery christmas party this afternoon. Lots of over-excited giddy kids- I think it's cute, but DH doesn't- I am just waiting for him to say he's got a headache and wants to stay at home .

Jinglebelgina · 13/12/2009 11:19

Morning all,

How's everyone today? Glad to hear some of the sleep training is going to plan, especially O's dummy training.

momi glad the party went well

pula Enjoy your nursery xmas party today.

DH's Mine is OK and I think he thinks I'm lazy. But somehow I can't seem to get much done when he's home and as soon as he's away there's a flurry of housework activity. The only habit of his that's really annoying is the bringing back a binliner of dirty laundry one. It tends to happen just as I think I'm up to date with it all. I have to agree with parum that 3 dcs is honestly a nightmare on the laundry front. I don't think I've seen the bottom of the laundry basket ever since C was born

hair Same here. I urgently need my hair dying. I meant to do it (do it myself) yesterday morning so my 2 inch roots would be gone for the party we had to go to, but I washed my hair instead out of habit and so I couldn't do it on wet hair. My fringe is also too long now and falling flat. I might just attack it myself with the kitchen scissors. I don't think there's any hope finding a hair dresser appointment this close to xmas.

xmas cards Also need to get started on those soon. I've got them, but need to write and send them. I job for this week I suppose.

The xmas party we went to yesterday was lovely. What I didn't realise was that it was a Christingel party and so the hostess made us all huddle around her piano and sing some carols. We ended up being home for about 11, the dcs had fallen asleep in the car around 10 and C in the sling about 9, despite being tired for aaages. This morning everyone was up at the normal time . So I'm on my own with 3 grumpy dcs and I myself am grumpy tooo because of my cold and bad night's sleep. I think it might be one of those days where the telly rule will have to be broken... I'll find ourselves a nice xmas film I think.

Hope you're all enjoying your Sunday

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 13/12/2009 12:35

Morning all! Ooops, afternoon. Sentiment is the same.

I was going to catch up with you all last night, but didn't manage to in the end, sorry!

Grrr at all those DHs out there. Pah.

cards - after out flurry of activity making them I have failed to do anything with them , apart from get the overseas ones sent. Must write rest now.

hair - mine is almost exactly the same as it's been for years, I have a trim every 3-4 months and that's it. One of the advantages I guess of not dying it is that there's no maintenance! But then I do look pretty dull.

Yesterday I managed to make my beetroot chutney. I think it's going to be ok to taste, but the colour is nowhere near as good as it usually is, disappointing really, and not giftable. Not doing it all again though. Managed to marzipan cake, jsut need to find some time now to ice it!

DH and DD1 have gone out to the shops, and A is asleep - I can hear her snoring on the monitor! Don't know what was going on yesterday, but she didn't go to sleep until 10 last night, but was still up at 6 this morning as usual. I suppose I ought to do something useful like iron, but I cannot be bothered, so I'm here and drinking tea instead.

flippineckitsnearlychristmas · 13/12/2009 12:41

belgina sorry to hear about all the grumpiness. Hope it's not too bad, and that your cold gets better soon.

momino - glad the aprty and cake were all good!

Fi - yay to sleep, but boo to snot.

I forget - am I the only Strictly fan? Was a bit surprised that Chris and Ola are through to the final, thought it would be Ali and Brian. I guess the popular vote can get you a long way!

Jinglebelgina · 13/12/2009 13:03

flippin I'm not watching either now Jedward have left xfactor. They were the only entertaining act IMO. Other than them it was the same old same old that we've been bombarded with ever since I got pregnant with ds! Sorry about the beetroot chutney not working out as planned. I've always wondered what chutney's for. We don't have it in Belgium and I still haven't worked out what people actually do with it

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 13/12/2009 13:42

I turned over to see a bit of strictly after xf last night but haven't been following it this year v much. i too was surprised chris was still in.

chutneys i've always loved them as an accompaniment to turkey and other cold meat left overs.. great to liven up sandwiches too. i'd have some of your beetroot one flippin however it looked

how's your day with grumpy dc's going? jingle

Febesisachristmascracker · 13/12/2009 13:43

Jinglebel You eat it with cheese on crackers or a big slab of fresh bread or with cold meats mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. I love chutney. And beetroot.

Flippin I love strictly although I watch both (x factor on sky +)I think I'm Team Cola although I loved watching Ali and Brian and also love watching Ricky and Natalie- I just can't warm to them as much as Chris and Ola. They make me smile when I watch them.

I'm thinking of making my own lounge room curtain and nets as we need new ones (lounge is the last room to tackle of our house) but can't afford ready mades for a few more months. Anyone made curtains before? Anyone know of a link to a fabulous but cheap online fabric barn where I can buy materials. I have a friend with a sewing machine but have not used one since Sewing at school .

I'm off to google.....

Jinglebelgina · 13/12/2009 14:54

febes eBay can be a good place for fabric. Some companies sell off end of roll bits etc... on there. I had some bargain Bob the Builder material from there for ds when he was a toddler. Good luck with sewing your own curtains. You're very brave, but I've never touched a sewing machine in my life (that's what I had my mum for) so at least you've got some idea about what to do...

Thanks for the explanations re chutney Still haven't quite worked out whether it should be classed as a sauce or something else. It's confusing me, this chutney stuff. I'm easily confused though. It doesnt take much

The dcs are still a little grumpy, but I'm allowing some electronic entertainment at the moment, so they're OK. I'm hoping C is going to have a decent afternoon nap. She only had 45 min this morning, to my big surprise.

I think I'm going to do some ironing with an on demand film going now. Nice and relaxed for a Sunday (minus the ironing bit of course).

HeadlessLadyH · 13/12/2009 15:06

Afternoon all.
A peaceful house here at the mo. DS1 has fallen asleep on the sofa, R asleep in his cot and DH upstairs watching Match of the Day on Sky+!
So just popping in to say hello as am trying to do some more christmas shopping.

What do 12 year old boys like?? Am struggling with DH's nephew. The easy thing would be to stuff a tenner in a card or a gift card maybe, but a bit dull? Am getting his sisters a make up bag each and then filling it with mini hair products, face masks and make up so I'd like to get him proper present to open.

Right, back to Amazon I think!

Hope everyone enjoying their sundays.

Laters.....

essenceofSES · 13/12/2009 15:15

We're just back from a walk - me, DH, O and the dogs. I got O snuggled up in his all in one polar fleece suit for the first time. It was a bit big but that didn't matter and he fell asleep on the walk.
We're now watching Angels & Demons. DH is meant to be ironing and I'm meant to be writing Christmas cards but at the moment we're both sat on our back sides eating chocolate

Febes - DHs

Belgina - hope the electronic entertainment works and that C has a decent nap this afternoon. What film are you watching?

XFactor - I'm in two minds. I liked all of the final 3. Joe is the most consistent with the best voice but I just don't feel he has the entertainment factor. Olly does but his duest with Robbie was just awful.

Strictly - generally I only see the end of this but I really wanted Ali and Brian to win. Something about Ricky that I just don't find that likable and Chris and Ola are lovely bit just not as good.

Hello LadyH
Not sure about 12yo boys I'm afraid... Hope Amazon helps!

OP posts:
FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 13/12/2009 16:12

not sure about 12yo boys either.. is he into football or computer games? i saw a swingball kinda thingy but for football when hunting for a boys birthday present but it was for boys older than I needed.. will hunt out the link when on laptop later.

we got angels and demons yesterday but not watched it yet..

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 13/12/2009 16:20

oh and curtains.. yes made loads.. due to sewing of all sorts, quilting, crochet, knitting etc.. being my thing. i got our last lot of curtain fabric from ikea.. what kinda fabric are you after?

Jinglebelgina · 13/12/2009 18:28

What's happening with MN. I know I did a post way earlier and it had come up on MN, making a brand spangling new page 16. I refresh the display and it's all gone . What's going on???

I'll just repeat myself justto be on the safe side:

Ses we watched Coraline. Quite a scary film TBH. Lots of jumping up, hiding and running out of the room on the part of the dcs.

febes I knew Fi would come up with some good fabric suggestions. Being that she's the resident crafty person

12 yo boys I got my nephew some HMV vouchers in the past or some clothes. He's 14 now, still difficult to buy for.

fi Angels and Demons was good. Better than the Da Vinci Code IMO. I had read the book before seeing the film in both cases and Angels and Demons definitely seemed to stick closer to the book.

We've just had our dinner and I gave C some pear. Gosh how she loved it. I've never seen her devour fruit like that ever before. She's started eating solids again this week and seems to have doubled her efforts now. She also has a thing for Philadelphia, whether on a toasted bagel or normal toasted bread, she's not fussy. Next step is using it as a dip I think, but I don't think she's any good at dipping yet.

Jinglebelgina · 13/12/2009 18:29

Hmm, clearly this post didn't create a new page. Hmm, wonder what happened to my previous post. Maybe I hadn't actually clicked post? I'm pretty sure I had though... Oh well...

essenceofSES · 13/12/2009 18:41

Belgina - I've never seen Coraline but it does look scary!
O sounds similar to C in his food tastes. He loves pear and also Philadelphia on the end of breadsticks. This evening he had mango for the first time and devoured that too

O had a late afternoon sleep today so I'm delaying his bedtime. Hope DH will hold off watching XFactor until I'm downstairs again!

OP posts:
Febesisachristmascracker · 13/12/2009 19:20

I am amazed at Rs eating today. I give him what ever DD is eating so its mostly BLW but some spooning in as well. He ate half a weetabix with yougurt and warm milk for breakfast, pasta bake with peppers and mushrooms, tomatoes etc, breadsticks and a cracker and then for dinner he ate a chicken dipper- without dropping anything and had a bowl of baked beans and then some chocolate angel delight (not a very imaginative or healthy dinner but they both ate so well). I hope that means he sleeps well as he had 4 really good BFs as well today.

I am dying my hair so have to go and rinse it now. I'll be back.....

FirelightGlintingOnTheXmasTree · 13/12/2009 19:56

well both G and ds were asleep for 6.30pm.. but thought it was a bit early for G. She's now wide awake so brought her through to watch xf.. she's now all smiley and fascinated.. will let her stay up for a while and then see if she'll go back to sleep. think her snotty nose is bothering her.

essenceofSES · 13/12/2009 20:44

O took ages to get to sleep but has been in his cot half an hour now.
Watching XFactor care of Sky+.

I have a meeting with my boss tomorrow to discuss my request to go back doing pt hours. Have no idea how it's going to go. Have to take O with me so hope he's settles ok after an hour in the car to get there.

OP posts:
essenceofSES · 13/12/2009 20:52

He's awake so I've brought him downstairs too

OP posts:
Jinglebelgina · 13/12/2009 21:17

Well, Coraline is officially the scariest film they've seen in a long while. Ds just came down saying he had nightmares, so I had to tell him stories about what exciting things we'll do during the school holidays.

febes your post has made me go and do my hair too . I should look nice now for the coming festivities.

Just had a call from dh and I feel so . I can just tell he's resentfull about him doing all the work on our old house, while I'm down here doing 'nothing'. I suggested us going up to the midlands next weekend so ds can see his best friend he's been missing for ages. Of course DH immediately suggested a bunch of jobs I could do down there. Which I'm really not going down there for. One of the things he wanted to do was for me to paint the marble bit in front of the fire place white. Now talking about making work for yourself. Firstly it wouldn't look right and secondly even if we both don't like the look of white marble, we wont live there, so it's not necessary! Then we argued about the fact that he's painted the (plaster of paris) fire surround white, after I'd painted it chocolate before to stop the room from looking so bland (think magnolia walls and cream carpet). I hope that house is finished soon, because we're barely seeing eachother and he's very clearly resenting it that he's doing so much work while I'm doing 'nothing'.
