Hmm might be a bit early for a festive thread title but thought we could get in the mood.

None of that tasteful two colour decoration scheme in my tent - oh no. The gawdier the better.

My SS hasn't arrived yet am sure this is just a postal delay.

HP Good luck - the low cut top wouldn't have worked for me as I had a female examiner.

Buckets have just bought the biting book like the one you linked to earlier for DS. We have another tooth - am hoping this explains the recent run of disagreeable behaviour. Went to music yesterday and although his frustration wasn't directed at any of the other children it was still there in spades including banging his head against a wall when he couldn't have a hoop to play with. One thing that made me feel a bit better was that one of the other boys pulled a little girls hair really hard - I know that shouldn't really make me feel better but I had a lot of sympathy for both Mums but I did secretly think well at least it isn't just DS!

DH has to go to London next week for a week. I am very as would love to go just before Christmas but can't get the time off or afford flights for me at this time of year .

Thanks for the vote of confidence guys but am way too lazy/immature/chickenshit to do things like take responsibility and tell people what to do. Me and DH are not ambitious folk, we place huge value on non-working time. I just want a job that pays some pocket money and gives me a break from the kids, doesn't make me lose sleep at night and has someone else to take over if I f* it up. Hence my love of temping - work is so much more fun when you know you can walk away at any time. Plus being way overqualified makes me v popular and I get a bunch of flowers every job I leave. Current fantasy is to Mary Portas a charity shop or help run our local community cafe, but no pay and childcare still required.

LWFH Hang on in there kid.

HOtter Good luck.

poppysocks · 04/12/2009 10:22

I rather like temping for the same reason pb . BTW Unis don't have school type holidays for staff . Have heard of one academic who had the same hols as the students but his contract hadn't changed since 1969 . Think I'd stick out a job for that long though for hols like that.

miamla · 04/12/2009 10:50

morning all
sleep is for the weak, i say no more
if you see me in a crumpled heap in the corner, can you tiptoe quietly round me please
thanks

hotterpotter · 04/12/2009 11:22

Oh dear miamla , we'll try and keep the noise down.

Just nipped on to say

Happy Birthday Queenie

I hope DP came through with something good for you

SazzlesOnASled · 04/12/2009 11:47

Ooh, Happy Birthday QoD. I too hope you have had some lovely treats from DP (cuppa in bed), even if no big pressies . If not, i shall let cyteen come and deal with him for you

Just made a chorizo and chickpea soup/casserole for lunch. DD2 has trashed the kitchen and liberally sprayed milk everywhere as she was feeding dolly with her milk cup . I got chilli on my fingers and scratched my nose, so now feel like i have burning nostrils [ouch]

hots are you all ready for this avo. Hopefully it will keep dry for you with not too much low sun. Good Luck Lady

LOL at buckets temping benefits . Just a thought but might that work for you Qod? dizz has sparky signed you all off yet? (properly of course, not a dodgy one as i don't want you all electrocuted in your beds ). Enjoy your decorating - i am torn between doing it asap and waiting for next weekend which was the plan. Your evening sounds lovely . I am off to the pub with some friends which will be nice, kjust got to figure out how to get home

snot DH has announced he is away 4 days next week and 3 the week after (mainly on jollies). I'm not really envious and keep thinking it is good for the diet and i will have plenty of free time for card writing/wrapping. [exciting life emoticon][NOT]

Right must go and collect DD1 from preschool............

SazzlesOnASled · 04/12/2009 11:48

Oh and sorry miamla for not whispering . Are you all illing again or was this a disturbed night for 'no particular reason' reason?

LentilsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 04/12/2009 12:19

Dashing in to say good luck to Hotter ...

dizzycringles · 04/12/2009 12:45

miamla · 04/12/2009 13:08

alittlebitshy · 04/12/2009 13:59

what's the matter with t miamla had a chat with A on fb earlier and he said he is on the medn but didn;t mention ds being ill again or did he? hmm, .

posted my SS today . V V long queue in post office but it's done. Not received mine yet so don;t fele as guilty as i would had i already got one glaring at me with a .

ought to wake ds up so he can have some lunch before we collect dd. 5 more mins......

cc i think i had known about 3 weeks by now that i was pg and was already barfing at any given moment (for 9 fecking months, grr). AM v happy to have ds but those are not happy memories.

poppysocks · 04/12/2009 14:04

I had a similar thought cc. 2 years on Sunday since I found out. Where did that go?

Hope all went well HP.

Happy Birthday QOD. Hope the fact that it's the start of the weekend means you get some good recognition/time off.

Had an moment earlier that turned slightly when, having returned from the vet for the cat's annual check, DD1 announced the she and DD2 would 'play vets' while I made lunch. So far so good, so sweet, so making the whole having two thing worthwhile. Five minutes later, DD1 was squashed into the travel basket while DD2 was in hysterics shutting her in . Thankfully DD1 found it equally amusing.

QueenofDreams · 04/12/2009 14:27

Hi ladies
Thanks for the birthdy wishes. No presents here apart from lots of hysterical screaming wakeups from S.
Sister on phone to wish me happy birthday, which turned into her slagging DP off and saying if it were her she would have left him long ago I really wish my family weren't so down on him all the time. I know he's not perfect, but he does support us and look after us. More importantly, I know he loves us. It just seems like my family will always look for faults, and find ones that aren't even there. They've only met him a few times ffs. ANd he's not a person who opens up to people easily. He's EXTREMELY reserved, and he hasn't had enough time with them to relax with them. And now I don't think he ever will open up to them because they're always so bloody disapproving. Feel like the rope in tug of war sometimes.
DP is incredibly tactless this is true. But combine that with the fact that my family are all incredibly oversensitive, and love thinking that the whole world is out to get them and you have a very bad mix. So now I'm feeling rather down about it all. My sister is very lucky that she has a husband who is home from work by 4.30 every day and does all the housework when he gets home, and shares in night waking chores etc. But the simple fact is that it can't work like that for the majority of us.
Sorry about this massive mememe post ladies. Feel free to ignore.

CaptainCaveman · 04/12/2009 14:36

QOD I think your sister is lying! NO man alive does that much for his dw/dp!!!

The most important thing is how you feel about dp, not what your family think. As they say, you cant' choose your relatives....
Here, have a birthday hug ((((((((((((((((((((QOD)))))))))))))))))))))). I'd make you a virtual cake but that's TSs forte.

O been asleep for 1.5 hours - bliss. I've mn'ed, fb'd, had a cuppa. Lovely. NO sign of that presentation though

hotterpotter · 04/12/2009 14:40

OMFG I passed!!!!!!!!!!!!! With only three minor faults!!!!!!!!!!!!!! In no small part down to the good vibes emanating from you lot, thanks

Oh I am just

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 04/12/2009 14:44

CONGRATULATIONS HP* Well done you.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY QOD Hope you have had a good day so far.

BRB DD yelling - DH in charge

CaptainCaveman · 04/12/2009 14:44

YAY well done Hotpot Here, have a glass.

QueenofDreams · 04/12/2009 14:45

CC believe it or not, he does do that much. A couple of weeks ago, I had the longest chat I've ever had with BIL, as I phoned and sister was out.
He had just put the nappies on to wash, and was doing the washing up while we were chatting. He was saying it gets him down that sis is so lazy. He also does the DC baths and helps get them to bed.
I just wish my family would cut DP some slack.
I wish he could learn to be a little more tactful. But TBH there are times when I wonder if he's a little bit autistic and just can't help some of his 'quirks'.
Anyway, we're having a nice night in tomorrow night. So I'm going to look forward to that. SIL is babysitting S, so if AF doesn't arrive we'll have some 'us time'

miamla I won't send any wellness vibes your way, as I did that the other day and they seem to have made things worse
Hoping T isn't too ill and makes a quick recovery though.

CaptainCaveman · 04/12/2009 14:47

hotpot can I have a lift?

QueenofDreams · 04/12/2009 14:49

Argh hots - congratulations!!
Very well done.

hotterpotter · 04/12/2009 14:54

Thanks you guys

Sorry to be all about me but time to collect DD from nursery. Back soon...
