August 2008 - I wish it could be Christmas every day, with the TV rows and the ILs you'd like to slay-ay-ay.

Hmm might be a bit early for a festive thread title but thought we could get in the mood.

None of that tasteful two colour decoration scheme in my tent - oh no. The gawdier the better.

I agree steaky, Christmas is not about tasteful it should be an explosion of different colours, styles, and mainly thousands of coloured fairy lights

Still too early for me though

Bad night here too, DS managed till 4am but then has been awake every 30 minutes. He settles straight away for DH but still wakes me up too. So I'll have to be careful not to fall asleep on the train or I'll end up in Edinburgh...

Lovely day to you all

steaknife · 19/11/2009 07:05

I should have gone back to bed half an hour ago, I can always sleep at 6.30 - stragne but true. But now I am hungry and too lazy to make anything proper to eat.

Might have to go and see if there are any crunch creams left from last night.

morning ladies
Ok-ish night. S started moaning abou 12.30 but settled himself. He came into bed with us about 4 ish though.

steaky and hots sorry to hear of your bad nights. Ack DS climbing on me got to go.

OleOleOlentils · 19/11/2009 10:33

Steaky - you must be very proud.

DS home as terrible storms kept his teachers away from school. Is it terrible to think of him as free childcare for dd1?

dizzydixies · 19/11/2009 10:52

getting you on the list

lovely thread Steaky

am now happily in possesion of penicillin so fingers crossed that does the trick

Classic thread title

Seems like I missed a load of chat last night. May I again register my (or should that be ) at cleaning routines - we are an 'as and when' household, although really this means 'when the dirt gets so bad you can't have anyone round' Having said that, my kitchen, toilet, clothes and mugs are always clean and the place doesn't smell

It doesn't help that DS is afraid of the vacuum and I am too soft to watch his little crumpled face as I suck up all the bits. But we do have regular blitzes when both grown-ups home.

Xmas presents: don't ask me as I am (a) skinto and (b) have the world's most difficult family to buy for. Luckily there's not many of them but every year I get stressed about what to get the dad who has everything, the stepmum with no life hobbies or interests and the nanna with sensitive skin (thus ruling out fallback smellies). Think everyone will be getting a book and a home made cake this year. PB I have touted Scuba Dancing to DP as a gift for his mum, it looks right up her street

lwfhthevampireslayer · 19/11/2009 11:26

Thank you for the sympathy and sonot thank you for the dettol advice too. Will go and look for something similar in the supermarket today. I am somewhat reassured that my house is not just immensely unclean by the sheer quantity and range of cockroach killing products available in Carrefour!

Also this is not something that DH told me about before we got married and moved here.

Hello everyone.

cyteen · 19/11/2009 11:30

Hello lwfh How's that bump?

dizzydixies · 19/11/2009 11:34

LWFH hope its all sorted out soon, am pretty sure you could do without it all right now - how many weeks are you now? Are you oober organised this time? I don't think I've ever managed to be oober organised for any of mine coming

hey,

just getting this on my threads..

poor dd1 woke up in the middle of the night with a nose bleed .. she stood beside for ages whilst i was all moany saying go back to bed.. finally switched the light on and her face was covered in blood .. felt like such a bad mummy .. managed to get her sorted and back to her own bed but then i couldn't sleep arghh...

thanks steaky great thread title..

vg/lentil.. what a nightmare last night.. whats the chat like at home?? i am sure the are gunning for the french!!!

dizzydixies · 19/11/2009 13:12

Sazz I had to go over to get my script & sick line so I popped in to apologise and explain - didn't stay longer than that and have been at home under a blanket ever since

PoinsettiaBouquets · 19/11/2009 13:51

Steaky Don't buy the fridge! Could you not try on Freecycle after the new year? (when people don't need the space for beer) Or at least get a 2nd hand one from the local freeads or somemthing, seems crazy to go for a brand new one.

My fantastic sleeper is back yay! K had a minor yodelling sesh at 2am which sent DH to the spare room but then slept til 6.30. V playful interactive mood today too, keeps saying 'dah!' (as in 'ta dah!') and lifting his top for me to tickle his tummy then tickling mine. This is strange for him because it suggests there might be an ego under all his placid, count-your-blessings third babiness.

Cyteen If you're not doing an Amazon order anyway, I may be able to negotiate some mates rates and maybe even signed copies (for all they're worth). However with p&p Amazon may work out cheaper!

Totally random but anyone into poetry? I heard a fascinating thing on R4 today about an exclusive French mathematical poetry society called Oulipo. I felt all Dan Brown thinking about all the secret societies there must be out there, how childish it is in a way and how tempting it would be start one if you were a genius. So anyway, we should some up with a more exciting and intriguing name than Aug08 Mums .

PoinsettiaBouquets · 19/11/2009 13:52

PS I've only got new appliances because they're being built into the kitchen which we plan to keep for 20odd years. Would have gone for 2nd hand otherwise!

oopsandbabycoconut · 19/11/2009 14:05

Hi All

Just getting on my threads

LWFH - cockroaches are one of my childhood memories from moving around the world, that and finding spiderwebs in our coffee mugs . Hope you are trying to get a little rest before littlestWFH makes and appearance.

Sazzles - sounds like our morning We were due at a play session at 9am. DD came into us and slept until 8.30 cue manic DH late for 9am meeting, Me trying tosort out DH/DD/my breakfast, clothes, feed cats and remember to leavfe a note for the deliveryman. You seem to have fared better. We turned up 25minutes late but just in time for tea [boak] and cake [yumm].

Dizzy - hope the anti-B's work soon. Now back to bed and REST!!

To the Irish contingent - BOO HISS to the froggies - no brie will be eaten here

DD finally awake, back later.

lwfhthevampireslayer · 19/11/2009 14:26

ah, thank you for all the kind messages. No cockroach repellent laden dettol available here but I did buy some new cleaning cloths. Shopping being almost as effective as actually cleaning.

Am 36 weeks, and not ready. My mum arrives at 39 weeks and the new baby can arrive from then onwards, but it would be nice if mum had a few days with DS before everything changes all over again for him.

DH has almost a month off work (almost all his annual leave for 2010) after mum goes home.

Am currently thinking about what to buy DS for a) the arrival of the new baby and b) Christmas. I think that I will buy him a baby pushchair (flimsy enough that he can use it in the house and not destroy all the furniture, he has a very nice solid wooden trolley which is for outside only!) for the new baby and a tea set for Christmas. DH doesn't really do presents at all (nor do his family really ... I think that it is a cultural thing - last Christmas when we were in the UK and all my family bought DH Christmas presents he was really surprised, especially when I told him that yes, we had bought them all presents too ...)

Baby music this afternoon. Now this is nice. I met a group of mums on the internet (sounds familiar so far ...) and mostly we meet in the park, but one girl decided to run a weekly music session, which is great, and also free as the other music classes that I found were really expensive. So we go and sing. Not DS's favourite part of the week, but I like singing so we carry on with it anyway. I just make sure that he is well fed and has had a good run around the park before we turn up ...

No brie here either Oops. Mr. Terry Henry is not in the national good books. I was so hoping to relive the whole Italia 90 mania.

Eamon Dunphy in messianic mood is always a bit of a guilty pleasure though. I'm also still laughing at the rte music at the end of Saturday's coverage:'Oh, we're halfway there, /Oh, oh,we're living on a prayer.'

Class.

DS has just told me I'm the best mum out of ten fifty five thousand which has cheered me up no end. A bit of a clampdown on the oldest two this week has reset everyone to happy and kind, thank God.

Living next to a stream leading into the river right at the bottom of a valley has made this morning a bit jumpy ... The wind is terrible but the rain has eased off I think.

dizzydixies · 19/11/2009 15:02

if someone has a spare Ark I'd be grateful [meep]

oopsandbabycoconut · 19/11/2009 15:07

I'd love to help Dizzy but we only have bits of the Titanic and you all know how that ended!!

OleOleOlentils · 19/11/2009 15:20

Oops.

I sent dh a message which read 'Please bring something for dinner and, perhaps, a canoe.'

I know he'll read it and think ' sniggering at her own jokes again.'

I've just made toffee popcorn with ds as we are going to snuggle up and watch a movie. We haven't done that for months so he is giddy as a goose.

dizzydixies · 19/11/2009 15:36

oh enjoy your movie Lentil - am just about to take DD1 and her friend to their swimming lesson - tis a hated task at the best of times so will see how we get on today!!!

DH and I have watched everything taped on sky+ and all the movies/box sets that are still in their cellophane!!!

oops show off
