August 2008 - I wish it could be Christmas every day, with the TV rows and the ILs you'd like to slay-ay-ay.

Hmm might be a bit early for a festive thread title but thought we could get in the mood.

None of that tasteful two colour decoration scheme in my tent - oh no. The gawdier the better.

dizzycringles · 03/12/2009 21:03

well if its beautifully wrapped its not from me

LentilsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 03/12/2009 21:04

I think Hots just called me a fool.

Do not overheat the bear Miamla

I am pretending not to have too much too do. La la la.

Dizzy, the childcare situation sounds v. hard. For the record, I know nurseries always say they have no places till 3011,but I've never known anyone have to wait over a month for a place.

Tum te tum.

DS built the most fantastic lego robot today with hinged arm and a smily face, and when you looked carefully, the face was a cab with a little man inside.

I am really enjoying the children at the moment. They are nice people.

Buckets, if you don't mind me saying the idea of you as an assistant to anyone makes me . You would make the most fantastic teacher, entrepreneur ... [long list available on request]

No-one should put Buckets in a corner rehearsing phonics.

LentilsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 03/12/2009 21:04

I used to be able to spell ...

SazzlesOnASled · 03/12/2009 21:05

I made that joke earlier dizz, you obviously missed my very mean post

dizzycringles · 03/12/2009 21:09

I didn't miss it one little bit Sazz, I was just emphasising the point - now who had a badly wrapped present turn up?!?!?

buckets, completely agree with Lentil - get yourself teaching and sorting out the world

SazzlesOnASled · 03/12/2009 21:29

I'm absolutely sure whoever receives it will love it dizz, no matter about the wrapping

LOL'ing about overheated bears and cold police

Red - Lovely to hear compliments for your DC's . DD1 came out from the CM and said 'i've had a lovely day '. She then came home and cuddled on the sofa with me and when DH rang to say he would be late home she said 'come home now Daddy, it's dark. Love you, miss you' [bless]. They can be so adorable when the moment takes them

hotterpotter · 03/12/2009 22:09

Couldn't work out how on Earth I had called you a fool Red, I was going to hotly deny it then realised you must fill your advent calendar right from the start you must be mad have well-trained DC . There is no way I they could leave all those sweeties alone

I can't believe all those of you opening your Secret Santas . Mine isn't here yet but when it is I will get DH to hide it after I have prodded

Driving test tomorrow at 13.13 [eek]. I am quite pleased with the time actually, I'm hoping it's a double bluff to the bad luck fairy. If nothing untoward occurs I should be OK, but there are plenty of nutters out there for me to blame if I fail I really appreciate all your good wishes, thank you

DH hovering but I should be OK for 5 minutes. We really need some other laptop/netbook thing so we can both be happy, but there are sooo many to choose from. I am leaning towards a netbook but don't really know. My budget is about £300, any suggestions???

SazzlesOnASled · 03/12/2009 22:19

hots DH is a mine of information of all things computer related and has a couple of funky ones which i have borrowed. I will ask him what they are

at 13.13. They are really taking the piss aren't they?

poppysocks · 03/12/2009 22:19

So... to catch up....

So pleased to hear your Mum is now settled as she should be VG. that she needs to be in the hospital in the first place though.

Aaargh to your childcare complications dizzy. What a PITA. Would love to meet up though. How are things looking next week? Or the one afterwards??

Was really and to hear about your scare oops. So glad to hear Hector's well though and making his presence felt. . How are you doing lwfh?

Sorry to hear about all the ill and moany babies (miamla, steaky, no1, cyteen, CC... anyone else??).

Where are you now on the job front steaky? I know my sister faces much, much higher childcare costs in London than out here in the sticks. I suppose your pay is higher, but am guessing that if you could do the job somewhere else, you'd probably end up with more in your pocket after all the costs.

Glad you've had some nice time with your DDs sazzles. We've had some adorable snippets from ours too. Best one I think was DD2 covering the doll up and then whipping the sheet away and shrieking 'peepo' at it. DD1 pretty lovely while I was away having well and truly mastered the art of phone conversation. Suspect I may not feel quite so happy about this in a few years though...

Just back from farewell night to the axed colleagues. All v. sad and those remaining v. jittery amongst rumours that they want to get rid of part-timers. Genuinely not sure what I'd do if I was told full-time or nothing. Hmmm.... Think I may post in employment bit on here to see if it's something that I actually need to worry about.

Hello and waves to everyone else!

dizzycringles · 03/12/2009 22:25

Poppy I have the inlaws and I'm working next week so lets aim for the week after

poppysocks · 03/12/2009 22:27

Lots and lots of luck tomorrow hp. I remember my driving test all too well. Well, I remember all of my driving tests actually . Not a natural driver, me.

I have a netbook and love it. I do enjoy seeing MN in all it's glory every now and then on a proper laptop but it is so light and portable and so much cheaper than anything else that it's definitely a good thing for me. Mine's an acer, but no idea on more info. Also fairly old (my producing DD2 present ) so am sure it's been superceded now.

No chocolate advent calendars here [bah humbug]. DD1 rather flumoxed by the very religious pictures in this year's but has yet to discover that they might host chocolate so am just explaining the Christmas story every day at the mo. Suppose that's what it's all about though .

poppysocks · 03/12/2009 22:30

Sorry dizzy, should have registered re: ILs visit next week. Week after sounds good. Wednesday 16th?

hotterpotter · 03/12/2009 22:31

Lovely to see you Poppy, sorry to hear things are so fraught at work but phew that you still have a job. Hope things calm down soon.

Right DH getting impatient, and as he is trying to list some stuff on ebay I should let him get on with it really.

Sweet dreams all and see you in the morning

SazzlesOnASled · 03/12/2009 22:31

Hello poppy sorry to hear about crappy job cuts. Far, far too common atm . Fingers x'd your job is not one of them as i know (despite the pressures and stresses) it works well for you and the girls

dizzycringles · 03/12/2009 22:32

sounds great poppy, look forward to it

SazzlesOnASled · 03/12/2009 22:34

Can i come?

poppysocks · 03/12/2009 22:36

Ooh, please do!

SazzlesOnASled · 03/12/2009 22:37

Fab - i'll bring the mince pies

poppysocks · 03/12/2009 22:42

SmileGrinBiscuit

dizzycringles · 03/12/2009 22:43

as long as they're homemade by Mr Sazz then delighted now, I almost bought him a home curing book from borders the other morning!!

SazzlesOnASled · 03/12/2009 22:49

I think £383 on Flybe is a tad excessive , so you'll have to make do with me on a stick and stick ins in me

Off to bed for me. Night

SazzlesOnASled · 03/12/2009 22:50

pins

< to you too poppy >

poppysocks · 03/12/2009 22:57

Was just trying out the there. Didn't quite work did it...

lwfhthevampireslayer · 03/12/2009 22:58

helloooooo!

still here, still pregnant.

DS much happier to mooch around the house now he can walk. Think that I will ask my mum for some baby proofing help.

Music today not the biggest success in the world.

Must write some Christmas cards and a job application.

Thoughts for all

dizzycringles · 03/12/2009 22:59

night all, have the joys of biting my tongue tomorrow when the sparky is here/ dragging the decorations out the shed and getting the house ready for my ladies coming down to drink copious amounts of vino whilst DH on his Christmas night out!!
