Hmm might be a bit early for a festive thread title but thought we could get in the mood.

None of that tasteful two colour decoration scheme in my tent - oh no. The gawdier the better.

Hey queeny Ds managed to go all day without a nap yesterday.(intentionalLy) he slept all night as a result though

lentil thanks for asking about dcs.
I have decided against getting health visitors involved for the time being.
(not that they call back anyway)
Not sure how 'good' things are as just this last week DS has started 'hitting back' and fighting for my attention too. He goes beserk if she is on my knee.(even if he was happily playing before)

I knew it was bound to happen though.
He pulls her hair out in chunks, pushes her over from behind, nips and slaps her and me and dh. He obviously finds it hillarious.

I have started the naughty step with dd, not sure how much I like it,but she knows she has to say there for a few minutes and does.
Will see how it goes.

(I am using it as like a time out option)

Everyone keeps saying its good that he his hitting back, as she will maybe realize.
I don't agree with that at all.
Neither of them understand really.

Sorry fo me me me again. I honestly was not going to mention it.

cyteen · 03/12/2009 13:48

Hi no1 and CC great to see you here (CC, I am also a fugitive from work - taking a break from reading about personality disorders).

Re. swine flu vaccine, I'm unsure too although I understand it's basically the normal flu jab with a dead swine flu virus bolted on, so not quite a fully new and potentially untested creation. Still not sure though. Would I have given him the flu jab otherwise? I've never had one myself...but then, what if he gets it...aaarrrgh.

On a lighter note, I am howling at the Foof Store Lifestyle Foofs in particular, and reading that the XXL Foof has 'plenty of room and comfort to add the whole family!' ROFL.

no1 DS is due his MMR next week (on my birthday, no less) but I'm going to reschedule as he has been ill for the last few weeks and has Had Enough.

dizzycringles · 03/12/2009 13:49

love DD1's letter - thats brilliant - please tell me you've kept it to show to her when her kids are writing theirs

and its a great list for the sake of your pocket

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 03/12/2009 13:50

rofl at that list Lentil. You just have to save that. It is adorable.

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 03/12/2009 13:52

ds asleep so off to do some colouring with dd.
How can I resist when I told her we would colour and she said 'Yay hurray' bless.

QueenofDreams · 03/12/2009 13:55

no1 about the hitting etc. I don't have any practical advice though, as I have no experience of these things. HOpe the naughty chair works though.
Loving the Foof as well. What a name to choose for your product. I need a small foof. Not much space in this house you know.
lentil I love that list.

dizzycringles · 03/12/2009 15:11

ah fuckity fuck arse sigh. the nursery can't take D but can take DD2 sooooooooooo they're now both going to a CM on Mon or Tues (she's prepared to swap about depending on what I need as long as nobody else wants the space) and DD2 will be going to nursery 2 days a week. D we'll have to deal with as and when - the nursery will take her ad hoc where available and she is now top of the waiting list for a spot if one comes up AND ex CM says she'll help us with a spot of in house nannying where she can if we're stuck. AARRGGHHHHH my head is mince with all this and I hate mucking the girls about

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 03/12/2009 15:32

Oh Dizzy - That is rubbish, I hope the nursery soon ahve a place for D.

No1 PLeasure - enjoy it you deserve to relax a little. P.S. all made by my own fair hand . at no tree - I would rebel!

QOD - Naps WILL reign in this house until I don't need them anymore.

I suspect I know who my SS is but I'm not sure hmmmmmmmmm.

Hi Lentil

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 03/12/2009 15:51

dizzy what a nightmare for you re childcare. It would all do my head in.

oops I am excited to open it,but not long to go. Thankyou.

Just got back from bringing horses in, It is so great that they come to call, in fact they came to the gate when they saw my car today. the field is such a bog near the gate that I hate the thought of traipsing through it to fetch them.

DD insisted and walking round and saying goodnight to all 12 horses today.

SazzlesOnASled · 03/12/2009 16:10

I received my SS today too . Pretty sure i know who it is from having studied the postmark and assessed the beautiful packaging not dizz then

Been to the gym this morning, bought Xmas tree decs to go with our new lounge colour scheme and tried to buy a chair for FIL'd visit. Apparently they can't come unless we source a chair he can get up out of as our sofa is too low/soft/cream/padded/or something. No luck there, apart from a lovely one in M&S for £550 and nobody has one they can actually sell us. '6 week wait now love'. Given about a trillion furniture shops have gone out of business you would think we would be able to buy a bloody chair .
Ended up getting a migrane type headache and came home. DD2 now asleep so goodness knows what tonight will hold

VG so so glad a bed has been found for mammaVG

dizz you will need a diary with 2 pages a day rather than 2 pages for a week . Seriously, that is some complex childcare. I hope the nursery comes up trumps for you (and D) before the New Year

no1 lovely to see you back . Here DD2 pulls DD1's clothes, pushes her, steals her food and pulls her feet when she is on the sofa . I also don;t like it, but as you rightly say they are both so little really i just try and broker some peace and make sure they have their own things to occupy them and stop them winding each other up. Glad to hear you have made a decision on the HV follow up but if you have any Q re my post on what my neighboor said, give me a text or a bell
Very about your no tree edict . I was going to get a small one on the windowsill a bit further out of reach, but DH says no, we must have a full size real one.

oops i googled the Nailsworth Christkindl and apparently it is canx until 2010 . I would be more than happy to meet you there though for a spot of lunch, shopping and admiring of the Xmas lights if you fancy it sometime?

poppy glad to hear you managed your weekend away and that DH was being so considerate . Are we allowed to know the plan [nosy]

QoD my DD at 3.1 still naps at lunchtime on my insistence. SHe fought it massively yesterday but then proceeded to sleep for 2hrs when she did go (i threatened to canx her friend coming to play )

steaky not sure if you can read this, but have you accepted the job or are you still unsure?

Lentil what a gorgeous letter . DD1 just throws her hands in the air and says 'add it to the list mummy' at whatever i have just said she can't have . Sorry to hear you can't go on a break with your Sisters, that sucks

cece and cyteen lovely to see you but stop slacking

TS i do NOT want to hear about years of tantrums thankyou

We have no advent calendar here (alhough Snot, DS does sound adorable with his). I was going to do a MN suggestion of getting a little robin and moving him round the house every day which the DC's then have to find. Apparently you also tell the DC's that he is Santa;s special robin and keeping an eye on them and if they misbehave, presents will be curtailed

Right, i must go and prepare dinner. Later ladies......

QueenofDreams · 03/12/2009 16:22

hi
Am being roundly abused by my 14 month old who is currently trying to yanks my hair out by the roots
He was being very cute earlier, helping me scrub the kitchen floor. Thn he decided the floor was boring and started wiping the cupboard doors
Think he ended up having a nap in the end. It was only short, but it gave me time to have lunch and a shower.
dizzy sorry to hear about childcare woes.

I suspect I know who my SS is
The present is doing well as it is still unopened. i feel like I need to save it as it's probably going to be my only pressie at this rate.

PoinsettiaBouquets · 03/12/2009 18:00

No1 This book and some of the others in the series might be a good investment. Gives a visual back-up to the message. We have this one and Teeth are Not for Biting.

Dizzy Do you actually make any money after all the childcare costs? I've been trying to explain to DH that I wouldn't be able to earn enough to make it worthwhile til Kurt starts preschool. Would struggle to pay for the petrol/new clothes/endless whiprounds/new social life, I'm thinking.

I have not managed to acquire any advent calendars this year (but secretly Humbuggy). Seem to have got away with it so far...

dizzycringles · 03/12/2009 18:04

Bouquets, if DH and I can manage to work opposite shifts then yes its worth it - we need my wage unfortunately. I'm not sure I could give up work completely as I enjoy it but right at this moment my head is mince with it all

hotterpotter · 03/12/2009 19:16

Hello all

I have five minutes before bedtime to try and catch up, except of course my mind has gone blank what with one thing and another, including my inability to remember that DS was sitting on my lap, I had half convinced myself I was pregnant, despite a lack of sex and regular periods... well one stick was duly weed on and I am not pg just going crazy

Actually it was quite enlightening because I was a little bit relieved not to be carrying no3

Glad to hear of folks on the mend, and great to see you No1 and Poppy

We have four advent calendars . One for each DC of those wooden house ones which get a little chocolate or jelly sweet in each day (I am not fool enough to load all the sweets in at once ), and two picture ones, one of which is last year's being reused

dizzycringles · 03/12/2009 19:20

hi hots will be thinking of you tomorrow, hope you're sorted with the lowcuttop rescue remedy

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 03/12/2009 19:29

Hots will thinking of you - not too much Rescuse remedy though you will get done for driving under the influence

Sazz - am keen to meet for a bit of lunch and a mooch about when ever you are around.

DH mentioned that he thought he ought to meet some of my imaginagry friends soon, which made me laugh as I have been to meet ups etc and he has never really cared before!

I'm off to have take away without the ILs who ducked out because it was too complicated to organise 2 deliveries at once sulking because they wanted chinese and we didn't!

see you later maybe but unlikely as DH needs birthday attention (no get your mind out the gutter Dizzy and Co )

PoinsettiaBouquets · 03/12/2009 20:34

Yeah we can't really afford for me to be a SAHM either, been popping out sprogs in complete denial for last 5yrs remortgaging every now and again to deal with the overdrafts. Plus DS1's diagnosis has brought in a fair whack of extra income, God bless that little oddball. Am thinking I ought to start making an effort again re jobs for DH's sanity. But I also want to be around for schoolruns and holidays so that narrows me down to schools and university jobs. And all the mums in our catchment seems to be doing courses to become teaching assistants so competition would be extremely tough! Might give the university temp pool a call and find out just how flexible they are. Funny how we mums DEMAND flexibility but can't offer any whatsoever.

Oh and my kitchen is so nearly done! Shelves are all up so my perfectly designed systems will all be place for an easy-clean but still cosy kitchen. Bath now followed by envelope stuffing, so will spend tomorrow morning transferring all the food from DD's room. Have told DH I will give up the cleaning lady in the new year though so that should stall things on the jobfront a bit.

hotterpotter · 03/12/2009 20:36

LOL Oops, hope you and DH enjoy his birthday without the ILs . Each time you tell us about them they sound more and more weird

Dizzy do you think the low cut top rescue remedy will work? Can't hurt to try

Bedtime a little fraught again . Tea took a bit longer than usual so by the time DD had caught up with CBeebies (which she insists on pausing to eat ) it was a bit past their bed time. It's a good job she will fast forward through ITNG or they would be only just asleep now, but poor DS is missing his Makka Pakka fix!

Time for some HotMamaing, back in a while

PoinsettiaBouquets · 03/12/2009 20:36

Oops Perhaps he is jealous of Miamla's knitting man? Does he have any similar party tricks?

cyteen · 03/12/2009 20:39

Good luck tomorrow hotter! Just think 'what would cyteen do?' and then do the opposite

My secret Santa arrived today, woohoo! I LOVE it, thank you whoever you are DP loves it too, and it is now hanging above our back door looking cheery

Plus my new shoes arrived today as well, double woohoo. Love new footwear

miamla · 03/12/2009 20:43

argh, DS shattered so he was in bed early tonight. he evidently thought it was a nap because he's been awake now for a little while
he is being adorably cute though...he unwrapped himself from his blanket, and promptly wrapped his teddy up in it instead
and before the cold baby police arrive, as soon as he's asleep (DS, not the bear), i'll be right back up with another blanket for him (again DS, not the bear, the bear's already warm enough!)

dizzycringles · 03/12/2009 20:43

Cyteen!!!! did you open yours?!? I haven't opened mine, maybe I should

cyteen · 03/12/2009 20:47

But of course Dizzy, I have no patience

dizzycringles · 03/12/2009 20:55

am off to shake/sniff/squeeze mine a bitmore little then

SazzlesOnASled · 03/12/2009 20:57

Mine is sitting beautifully wrapped in the corner [goody two shoes]

I was very surprised that DD2 went to bed fine at 7 after i woke her at 5 for her tea . She ate a massive bowl of cottage pie, satsuma and blueberries. Then we picked up DD1 and came home and they shared a packet of rice cakes, had some milk and then she was happy to gp to bed again. Really not sure where she gets the whole food, sleep, food, sleep thing from

Good luck for tomorrow hots, i'm sure you'll be great . Just out of interest, what time is it so we can keep off the roads cheer you on properly?

Glad to hear you sounding a bit chirpier miamla and i hope you are all well enough to enjoy the weekend

oops I can do next Thurs (will only have DD2 that day) but need to leave by about 1.45 but a shop and early lunch might fit well with the girls sleeping in the car on the way home after lunch?

Mmmmmm just had Thai chicken, mushroom and noodle soup for dinner. Delicious
