Hmm might be a bit early for a festive thread title but thought we could get in the mood.

None of that tasteful two colour decoration scheme in my tent - oh no. The gawdier the better.

ah feck, DH away to work with his car which has all the Borders bounty in the boot - lets hope he doesn't look in it [meep]

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 02/12/2009 21:39

Dizzy - he is a man he will have NO idea what is in the boot of his car

Night all I'm off to bed Sleep well

dizzycringles · 02/12/2009 21:40

oops, I hope so, its got his kit in it so lets hope that there isn't a call out over night! sleep well

SazzlesOnASled · 02/12/2009 21:44

Tell him it is essential research material

cece i am trying to hold out until the 12th but will probably have as little much resolve as you . Oh and DD1 is one of those little tyrants - she was standing by my friends little boy with only her top on saying 'chase me, chase me....'

dizzycringles · 02/12/2009 21:48

Sazz, DD2 was at the swimming today admiring the wee boys long foof and why didn't she have a long foof? god help me I didn't know which way to look - thank goodness we're changing lesson times in the new year so I don't have to face his mother again

SazzlesOnASled · 02/12/2009 21:53

Ha, ha, ha, ha
ROFL

And so let this be a lesson to people who want their little darlings to be able to talk. Silence is golden IMVHO

pertelote · 02/12/2009 21:54

Thanks Dizzy and at DD2!

Cece poor little chap - hope the xmas tree has cheered him up satisfactorily! Think I might get our ickle one out this weekend... the socket only has two laptops a lamp a phone and the wireless whatsit plugged in to it, I'm sure a couple of sets of lights won't hurt [whumpf]

dizzycringles · 02/12/2009 22:09

I'm more excited about the wee pink one I bought for the girls in the Paperchase sales last year - I can't wait to see their faces when they see it in their room - a touch too far possibly but can you every really go overboard where Christmas is concerned?!?

SazzlesOnASled · 02/12/2009 22:22

dizz yours sounds a tad more tasteful than this one which DD1 is desperate for . I am actually considering getting it for her room as she would go mad with excitement if we did. Alternatively she would be hacked off with us for not putting it in the lounge

dizzycringles · 02/12/2009 22:28

i have to say its not dissimilar - have you got a paperchase near to you? they have lovely wee ones and wee decorations to go with them

SazzlesOnASled · 02/12/2009 22:34

I was thinking 3ft was a tad excessive

I'm sure there is a paperchase in CHeltenham, but it was the £4.50 price tag which attracted me to this one, not the actual need for a fuscia tree IYSWIM? [cheapskate]

dizzycringles · 02/12/2009 22:42

not at all I don't blame you - I only got ours because I went over on the 26th specifically to get it half price lets hope its survived a year of neglect in the shed!!

night all, am pooped and have a lot of crap/phone calls/blah blah blah to do tomorrow

SazzlesOnASled · 02/12/2009 22:45

Night. I'm off too. I hope things get sorted for you tomorrow without the need for too much yelling down the phone

poppysocks · 02/12/2009 23:57

Can't even hope to catch up properly but wanted to pop on to:

a. confirm that I'm still alive
b. send a and and thank you to my secret santa
c. apologise for missing the big meet-up
d. promise to catch up and keep up now.

Broadly all fine here now. After big blow-out a couple of weeks ago DH humbled me by revealing a well-planned and very generous plot to de-stress me, that he'd been working on before I threw all my toys out of the pram . I am a very lucky lady.

Managed my trip south but was overshadowed somewhat by a humungous family row that, I think, is now dormant again...for the time being.

Back to work tomorrow but will be interesting as quarter of the office were sacked on Monday. DH's boss also sacked on Friday. Must be that time of the year

On a happier note my very lovely friend had a dream birth on Sunday and now has a gorgeous little boy. Surely ours were never that small...

TwilightSurfer · 03/12/2009 02:44

tomorrow i'm substituting in dd1's kindergarten class for a few hours. joy.

oops your little kicker made me but dizzy's penis envy made me. our kids never cease to amaze. sazzles don't loose hope on dd1 because those tantrums will go on for years are only a phase.

poppy you lucky duck. i wish someone would surprise me with a destresser. all i get surprised with are spoiled juice sippy cups in the strangest of places.

lucky i'm sure you're lurking. i am scheduled for a private session with the pilates nun. go on, google her. she's a prodigy having studied under all the first generation teachers including joseph and clara pilates. totally psyched!

one more round of christmas before we can settle in for our real christmas. found out moments ago that the il's will be arriving on the 12th for the weekend. i'm sure they will book their own hotel room.

must go and fb a wee bit more as i think i started a stink with one of dh's friends by siding with tiger woods' wife on her golf club actions following the unveiling of his almost 3 year extra marital affair. the stupid man starting cheating two months before his first born child was born. that's inexcusable!

ta

snotexpectingsnow · 03/12/2009 04:12

LOL Dizzy though I'm sure I've never heard one called that before . Hope the tradesmen have been firmly put in their place. Did you have any more gumtree responses?

VG so about your Mum's situation. Hope they manage to get something sorted soon.

TS don't mean to rub it in about the weather. Sometimes I actually crave some cooler weather (but not for long) . TBH it's been quite rubbish recently as we've had loads of rain (during December average in a day is about 25mm ). It does mean that when it stops DS and I can actually go for longer walks as it is marginally cooler but does mean there are loads of mosquitoes and for some reason I'm particularly tasty!

snotexpectingsnow · 03/12/2009 04:29

Day 3 of Chocolate Advent Calendar and DS has worked out that it has chocolate inside!

Day 1 he just thought it was a shape toy and tried to put it back in the hole
Day 2 happily ate chocolate
Day 3 opened, gobbled up chocolate and asked for more then proceeded to point and shout 'cockel' at the calendar until diverted with bubbles

miamla · 03/12/2009 09:11

aah, that's so sweet about the advent calendar snot

i'm still giggling about the long foof Brilliant!!

DS still requiring a large dose of cuddles, blankets and cbeebies so i'll be back when i've got two hands!
DP still poorly, miamlaMum a little better and i'm just coldy so we're all going in the right direction

vg i can't believe your poor mum is being treated so badly. wish there was something i could do x

QueenofDreams · 03/12/2009 09:13

Morning ladies
dizz the 'long foof' made me as well. Mini-SIL looked at Seb during a nappy change once and said 'he has the same shape bottom as [cousin] and Dadda!' made me giggle. Mind you she also made me giggle when she whipped her trousers off to prove to her mum she was wearing something pink that day. 'Ann do you like my pink knickers?' Funny girl.
snot If there's one thing I definitely don't miss about SA it's the sodding mosquitoes. you have my sympathy.
poppy sympathy on family blow-ups too.

We had another screamy night here again. I'm starting to wonder if it really is teething I really don't know. But we'd had two wakeups by midnight with lots of hysterical shrieking at both of them. The second one I just had to put him down because he was screaming regardless of anything I was doing. He went off again eventually.

LentilsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 03/12/2009 09:37

VG - I absolutely can believe what you are saying about the hospital. It is truly a vile system here and I'm so sorry your mum is suffering because of that.

A friend of mine with a little boy the same age as dd2 got her 500 Euro bill (paying per mile for the ambulance and for each oxygen tank ) for his emergency trip to hospital quicker than your mum got her bed. That just about sums it up I think.

DD2 hasn't been to the doctor except for injections and her mad dash to hospital post-birth. Given that it is 40 Euro a visit that is just as well.

I forgot - I had to pay 75 to have her elbow clicked back after I dislocated it 'out of hours.'

I hope mini-Cyteen is feeling better today and all is better in the Miamla household.

TS - that is cool about the pilates.

I had a mini-meltdown yesterday after I realised I couldn't afford to join my sisters in the collective present-buying/weekend away plans. I somehow forgot they are all nice reasonable people and got in a state about them thinking I am mean.

I wouldn't be in the least bit surprised if my still-absent period (as in still absent since dd2 got here) didn't arrive very soon.

cyteen · 03/12/2009 09:45

Lentils, maybe you're knocked up again

Thankfully DS seems loads better this morning - he managed to sleep through and had no temperature when he woke up, so now it's just the vile cough to get rid of. He is so croaky, he sounds like Danny in The Shining saying REDRUM REDRUM. Still, he's gone to nursery where everyone is overjoyed to see him

Hope all the other poorly peeps are feeling similarly improved.

oops how cool that you got a little wriggle. My hormones are whispering baby-related things

VG after your comment i just google 'long foof' and it came up with this (don't worry, its completely work safe!)
i'm so pleased they've found somewhere for your mum now

ooh i love the idea of little numbered bags, can someone remind me in ooh about march about it and i'll start making some for DS for next christmas!

cyteen so pleased as well that J is starting to improve but please don't mention that particular colour and alcoholic drink together again.. i only just watched the whole film for the first time two years ago and even then it was from behind a cushion
soooo, could you be??

lentils does sound like the whore-moans are planning a visit very soon! i've sent mine packing again for a couple of weeks

ann you'll have good nights and bad. some you'll be able to explain, some you won't eg. DS hardly eaten anything last few days but despite having an empty tummy, he slept through til 6.30am!!

cyteen · 03/12/2009 11:27

Heh, I doubt it miamla. Which is a good thing really, I'm all booked up till after the wedding with things to do so it's strictly condoms until we're H+W

miamla · 03/12/2009 11:31

well that's ok then
