Hmm might be a bit early for a festive thread title but thought we could get in the mood.

None of that tasteful two colour decoration scheme in my tent - oh no. The gawdier the better.

VG is there a way your mother can be cared for at home with doctor/nurse visitations instead of being subjected to that! I know it must be very hard for you not to just stand in the middle of the hall there and SCREAM!!!! We have room for her here in any one of our 4 local hospitals. Bring her on over!!

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 02/12/2009 17:22

VG - (((HUGS))) That sounds like an absolute nightmare on your behalf!

What is it with everyone's heating ATM? our only works in 2 rooms downstairs and in DD's room where it is on whether the radiator is switched on or not Dizzy - did yours get sorted today?

DD came through to me about 5 minutes ago squealing and covered on something muddy looking - it wasn't mud it was cat poo [boak] I asked where she got it from and she answered very sweetly 'help cat' I cleaned her up and went to discover she had managed to get into the office where the litter tray was I'm not sure how she 'helped' the cat but I found lots of little bit of poo 9in a trail to the bin. All washed and disinfected [boak] [double boak]

She is now yelling for a second supper after her french toast and veg. Back later

dizzycringles · 02/12/2009 17:46

nope oops, still either on full blast or not at all

QueenofDreams · 02/12/2009 17:54

Urgh oops that is truly yuk. Cat poo is vile stuff. I am amazed at these babies who do things like answer questions. Seb's four words are hello, daddy, bubby (mummy) and Abbi. Other than that. Nada.
Called my sister today to wish her happy birthday. Cue half an hour of her bitching about my mum. Argh. I know my mum is frustrating, but I really think she needs professional help now, not constant bitching and pressure. Mind you, I live hundreds of miles away from them, so I'm not faced with it 24/7.

dizzycringles · 02/12/2009 18:04

la la la la LA LA LA LA LA not listing re cat poo

Queenie, I sometimes feel that about my Dad but then my brother assures me that he lets it all wash over him because he sees him so often - I quite often get very down after I've spoken to my dad on the phone - its not as easy as its cracked up to be being the one that lives far away either

sorry about the job but great positive attitude and I'm a great believer in 'if its meant for you it'll not go past you' even getting an interview was brilliant and its all experience

had a nursery visit today so looks like that might be a veryexpensive option for the girls, depends on another couple visiting tomorrow and whether or not they take the slot in the baby room [meep] am NOT going to split the girls up unless I absolutely have no choice

other than that I spent 2 hours and a fecking fortune in Borders this morning took DD2 to the swimming and paid a fecking fortune for her re-enrolment and then did the nursery visit and was at the fecking fortune it'll cost me to send them there [eek][meep]

steaky can't get on MN for some reason but she's managing FB

No1 - where are you, how are you?!

Miamla, hope things are continuing to improve with you all

hi all else

dizzycringles · 02/12/2009 18:04

poppy are you home yet?!? where are you???!! am going to stalk text you soon!

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 02/12/2009 18:08

Why do small people need to stick a finger up their nose when saying ssssshhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh'??

QueenofDreams · 02/12/2009 19:07

Argh and double argh. I washed the grobag today, intending to get it out to dry as soon as the wash was done. Of course I forgot, so DS in bed sans grobag tonight. He is currently yelling his head off upstairs.
dizz I think with my mum, she now confides in me. I talk to her pretty much every day. And I think she feels so got at by the rest of my family that she tells me all about it. So I think I'm getting in her head a little more than my family are. But then again. I don't know that she's always completely honest either. i don't know. Gah. I can't sort my family's lives out for them. They'll have to sort themselves out

QueenofDreams · 02/12/2009 19:12

ah and ladies watch your mailboxes. My Secret FC present has been dispatched.

dizzycringles · 02/12/2009 19:17

my dad has a serious persecution complex too as all our lives we've been close to my mum's side and not his - its hard work listening and not defending them as they're the ones who have constantly supported me since having the kids, more so than him or my mum ever did. Its got to the point where I mostly communicate with him via text or email as he is such hard work

you have my utter sympathies - its not easy at all

dizzycringles · 02/12/2009 20:26

argh fecking argh grrrrrrr argh fecking local arrggghhhhhhhhh - local tradesmen

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 02/12/2009 20:30

What did he do and do you need us to tool up??

dizzycringles · 02/12/2009 20:39

oops - I phoned the local sparky to ask him to come round and TEST/EXAMINE the work done a few years ago and if he was happy with it could he sign off on the building warrant completion cert - he then told me that the electrics in whole house was shot and he wouldn't be happy to put his name to it at all when I asked why he hadn't mentioned that when he was here doing work the last time

anyway, phoned another sparky who has now retired, phoned the ariel bloke to see if he knew anyone and the gas bloke finally called so asked him too. During which time the original sparky phoned back and offered to come down here on Fri and test it and only sign off on it if he was happy - WHICH WAS WHAT I ASKED HIM TO DO IN THE FECKING FIRST PLACE!!!!!! can you tell I'm not that keen on him anyway

gas man coming in the morning, worst case scenerio is that there is a leak and all the flooring will have to come up, best case is that the radiators need bled and a thingymejigger needs replaced - at least I like the gas bloke

sorry - ranty rant

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 02/12/2009 20:51

Rant away

I have just been sitting on the sofa and felt this little wriggling feeling in my belly - I think Hector enjoyed dinner so much he had to let me know

I need to make DH a cake tomorrow and he won't give me a straight answer as to what he wants, I think he is yearning for a shop bought cake with artifical icing in the middle

Do you fancy a hotchoccie? I off to make on for DH.

CaptainCaveman · 02/12/2009 20:52

Blimey I can never keep up, yabber yabber yabber....now, make room for me

VG how's your mum doing? So with you at utter shite health service you have. Would it be of any benefit to go to the local newspaper (or national)? Or your local politician? It normally puts a rocket up ones arse if that happens round our way.

cyteen how's little J doing today?

love and mwahs to you all

cyteen · 02/12/2009 20:53

QoD it's hard when your family tend towards the negative too, isn't it? Believe me, I've both been there and done that. My dad is incredibly bitter and cynical about the world, understandably really what with all the shit that's gone on, but it is very wearing. Conversations with him don't really happen (unless we're in the car, for some reason ), it's more like he just rants on at me about how society is going to the dogs and no one reads to their kids anymore and all the kids at his school are too stoned to study and it's all Thatcher's fault. I wish he would take an interest and actually ask me about myself sometimes

Totally cream crackered chez Cyteen. DS is still ill: coughing, croaky-voiced, raging temperature...my poor scrap DP stayed at home with him today and is done in as a result, and I'm all worked out. Should be writing my dissertation but frankly a hot shower and True Blood is all I'm good for.

dizzycringles · 02/12/2009 20:58

oops sounds lovely thank you and bless wee Hector for wanting to say hi how is Mr Oops and his manflu illness?

mwah right back at you cece cyteen poor J, sorry to hear he's still poorly - hope you get a decent night rest

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 02/12/2009 21:11

Cyteen - sorry to hear J is still poorly, this is a nasty bug. Hope you all have apeaceful night.

'lo Cece

Dizzy - he is better thanks for asking although he feel he may need just one more hot toddy and night in the spare room to make doubley sure he is well

Tonight the ILs turned up to drop off DH's pressie they arrived at 7.10 (supposed to be here at 5.30) and let themselves in as we were doing DD's story/milk/wind down came leaping up the stairs and prceeded to wind her up like a top, stay 5 minutes and leave saying 'well we didn't know she went to bed so early - we'll leave if we're not wanted!' and stropped off. We were left with an over tired, stroppy girl who refused her milk and screamed everytime we put her in bed. It took 40 mins for DH to try and settle her. So we then just started the whole bedtime routine from the start and she is now sleeping.

CaptainCaveman · 02/12/2009 21:12

I'm off to stare at the tree that ds1 and I have lovingly put up together. I was going to wait until 12th Dec but ds1 was crying when i picked him up from after school club, because some girls had got him 'out' in a game they were playing. Bless him. He's only 5. I tried to explain that the girls wanted the boys out, not just him in particular. Life's just so unfair when you're 5 eh? (just wait til he gets older!!)

pertelote · 02/12/2009 21:13

Hullo, tis the weekend hurrah! I am meant to be at the local NCT AGM but DD has been so sniffly and clingy this week that I thought bedtime with Daddy might be the very last straw. But then in fact she went down very nicely so here I am! Almost hope she'll wake up so I feel less guilty about bunking

Not real illness though compared to some! Poor things, especially you Cyteen and Miamla. Hope you're both getting some rest now.

My Secret Santa went in the post yesterday, hope the legendary rubbishness of the London post does not delay it too much...

VG very on your behalf too. Your poor mother, how horrible.

Can't remember what else I read, hullo to you all and happy December, hope heating systems are soon fixed, xmas shopping bargains found and a bit of winter comfort&joy can begin.

CaptainCaveman · 02/12/2009 21:17

That makes no sense - we put the tree up because ds1 was crying (as I said) and he said the only thing that would cheer him up would be to put the tree up. Now who am I to deny my PFB?

CaptainCaveman · 02/12/2009 21:18

oooh pertelote, I posted my secret santa yesterday too! Wonder if it arrived yet?

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 02/12/2009 21:21

Forgot to Say - THANK YOU my Secret Santa my pressie arrived today I have seen one part as it was unwrapped and the other is remaining firmly wrapped until Christmas - against all prodding from those on FB to open it!

SazzlesOnASled · 02/12/2009 21:29

Evening all

Busy day again with me swimming, DD2 swimming DD1tantrum, signing, lunch, DD1tantrum, NCT friend visit & tea, bath, bed, DD1tantrum, bed

Very, very at the lack of bed space for MammaVG. As you say, these are the people we should be taking care of not degrading them by wheeling them from pillar to post . I really hope she has somewhere to stay properly by now. As TS said (i think) is there any possibility of her going home and having community nursing? (I guess not as you would have sorted this in a jiffy i'm sure)

dizz poor you, how bloody frustrating . The builders who did our extension fell out with the old owners and hence we have a leaky ensuite, crappy paintwork and a rotted door . Not even sure if we have signed building control or whatever it is . I hope your electrics are fine and can be signed off and lovely gas man mends your boiler

Lovely to hear of Hector making his prescence known

Happy Birthday to MrSurfer. I hope MrsSurfer has satisfied your every desire

Hello to everyone else and i hope illing people and babies are all well soon, and the sleep fairy visits everyone tonight

dizzycringles · 02/12/2009 21:33

CC - our tree is being delivered on Fri so hidying going on tomorrow to make room for it whilst DH sleeping and girls at CM tomorrow shall we remind T in 15yrs time that he was upset about the girls chasing him!?!
