Hmm might be a bit early for a festive thread title but thought we could get in the mood.

None of that tasteful two colour decoration scheme in my tent - oh no. The gawdier the better.

Oh I am not worried about the DC, I'll just need to know when to stop with them , it's everyone else. If money was no object it would be sooooo easy, but I have spent all the gift money on boots

It's times like this though I am glad they don't watch ITV, and that DD hasn't quite worked out that the Argos catalogue isn't just lots of pictures of toys

dizzycringles · 01/12/2009 21:30

fecking adverts - tis why I love sky plus

can you not nip down to borders and grab a bargin we have a lovely store here and its horrible to know that those working in there are worrying about their jobs in the run up to Christmas - bitter sweet cheapness

now, the cafe was in the papers today and someone from work saw it and outed me for being famous on FB [meep] never mind - its all good in the public eye

SazzlesOnASled · 01/12/2009 21:50

Evening again

dizzycringles · 01/12/2009 21:52

nice

I really should be doing something more useful than fannying about on here but I just cannot be bothered

SazzlesOnASled · 01/12/2009 21:53

Cottage sounds lovely dizz. You forgot the important bit though - does it have a porch?

hots what an arse about DS's feet . I always find Peter Jones or independent shops best round here

I have yet to write a christmas card as have been nattering on the phone all evening . Oh well, no point starting now

SazzlesOnASled · 01/12/2009 21:55

I thought i would have a little play on SazzlesOnAStick, seeing as how famous i am. NOT

What were the tabloids saying about your business empire? Hopefully you were not on page 3

hotterpotter · 01/12/2009 22:06

Lovely name Sazz. Also you are right about the shoe shops, there is a Charles Clinkard's in Leeds that has more than three different styles to choose from, it just involves a bit more planning to get to. Not sure why as it is one train rather than one bus

Don't be charging us 10p to talk to you now Dizz, just cos you're famous

I am feeling woozy after spraying my new boots with their protector spray [mug] and it's work in the morning so night night

dizzycringles · 01/12/2009 22:07

page 4 in the local rag just an update on the progress and funding we've secured

PoinsettiaBouquets · 01/12/2009 22:08

Hotter For future reference, Ricosta is a great brand for wide boys feet. Not cheap but DS1 (H width) has their v cool waterproof bovver boots every autumn. Can occasionally be found on Ebay but you have to check with the seller if they are the wide or regular fitting.

Best friend with her peculiar little boy came round today, his hippy school have finally suggested she get his pecularities investigated. They are thinking it might be a chromosomal thing maybe due to his massive height which is v interesting. Friend bit shellshocked but hopefully she will make a GP appt sometime before Xmas. If she waits til she's got her head around it completely, she will kick herself for not getting him on a waiting list sooner. Have been trying to get this point through in a kind way for some months now.

dizzycringles · 01/12/2009 22:10

Hots, agree completely with Bouquets - Ricosta been a success here too with the girls and their boats feet

TwilightSurfer · 02/12/2009 02:46

nice boots, nice name changes, poor boyS, you're a good mummy not bad mummy, nice job,

night

snotexpectingsnow · 02/12/2009 04:20

HP DS also seems to have wide feet (5H also) but fortunately as he wears mainly sandals it isn't quite so bad as they are a bit more adjustable. However, it's a real pain at the moment as I tend to buy from Clarks and they only have winter shoes in and it's the same in all the 'European' shops here - they can't make additional ranges so in the shops at the moment it is just winter clothes and boots - ridiculous when it is 30 degrees outside! I can't wait to go shopping in Leeds next year as there is absolutely no point me doing any clothes shopping till then!

Miamla glad to hear DS on the mend - hope you are now too.

Dizzy or should I say Dixie? I don't think it's SAD as DS was a complete whinger yesterday. He has just about dropped his morning nap but yesterday only slept for an hour at lunchtime. He was quite happy when he woke up but we then went to playgroup where he was the toddler from hell. Shouting and crying when he didn't get his own way - which yesterday just involved wanting to walk up the slide about a zillion times. It was truly horrible as all the others (who are generally a bit older) were incredibly well behaved and quiet. I was most as nothing seemed to placate him.

dizzycringles · 02/12/2009 07:40

porridge/ hot weetabix or readybrek for brekker - to cold to contemplate anything else [brrrrrrrrr]

Snot - do you think its frustration? I read something, somewhere, once that at this stage they get annoyed by their limitations and have no way of understanding/expressing it? I know that certainly has some element of truth here as D gets really annoyed when she can't manage the stuff the older 2 girls can bless her

been up since stupid o'clock here (thanks to D) and its bloody freezing - if the central heating bloke doesn't turn up today I'm going to be very I also only have a few days to sort out the building warrant for the house, it expires on the 7th and we had the work done in Feb 2007 I have to admit I've tried reading it and it makes not a jot of sense to me so I'm hoping my architect friend returns my call today [hopeful emoticon]

wishing happy Wednesdays to all - good luck everyone!!

oopsandbabyJesusinacoconut · 02/12/2009 09:49

Morning all

DD surprised us all and slept 7 until 6.45 I then asked DH to get up with her as I was still tired, I did omit the she slept until 6.45 bit so they came down at 7.15 and DH let me sleep until 9. Now I am struggling to get motivated but I need to find him a brithday pressie from DD for tomorrow and get bits and pieces to make his card. It's cold and grey here and I basically can't be arsed

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO MRSURFER

Dizzy - sorry to see you were up early again - how is D this mornig? Hope your central heating man turns up and you are all soon warm.

Yay smelly baby again.[boak]

Have a good day veryone

QueenofDreams · 02/12/2009 10:06

Morning ladies.
Freezing here as the boiler has stopped working again. Trying to keep S warm but he keeps pulling his socks off.
cyteen I know how you feel there. S does the same thing. Sometimes, if we're at MIL's and I'm not in the room he's playing and happy. The moment I walk in the room he starts to whinge. S woke up screaming twice last night. Both times it took ages to get him calm enough to sleep. He joined us in bed at about 5 where he faffed and fidgeted for ages before going back to sleep. It's definitely tooth-related though. Poor boy was just so distressed, it was hard work. Had a hard time trying to get teething gel on his gums he just didn't want anything near his mouth.
Forgotten everything else. I'm tired. Hope everyone has a good day today

miamla · 02/12/2009 10:20

morning
good news: DS still not 100% but he has eaten a weetabix this morning so hoping that stays where its meant to
bad news: mum popped round yesterday on a mercy mission with milk and bread but she's phoned this morning and she's been sick all night

meanwhile DP in bed with a migraine (on top of the man flu he already had), i'm feeling better but haven't been able to face any food yet

sorry i disappeared last night, a friend of DP's turned up and i had to get off laptop and be sociable (whilst being wrapped up in a duvet wearing my pjyamas!)

right, so where was i (apart from moaning about being ill and being surrounded by other people being ill!)

oh yes, i was catching up...

dixie well done on your spot of fame. careful you don't get followed everywhere by the paps now
oh and here's a virtual blanket for you, but you'll have to share it with me and DS!

oops can you have a lazy morning and pop out this afternoon? maybe pop out for something yummy for lunch as an incentive?

cyteen i agree with Santa..that man speaks sense!
talking of which, i explained to DS who FC was the other day.. there is no way to do it without it seeming like there's a big strange man coming down a chimney (we haven't got). i'll have to work on my 'story' for next year!
Santa is going to be at the toddler party next week... i really hope that his beard is stuck on properly

snot i've got the same t-shirt as you re DS and toddler group. my theory is that all mums must have gone through it at some point so try not to be about it and try and embrace his independent nature!

sorry, i'm being distracted by Friends on tv! it never fails to make me smile!
i'll have to reread and pop back

TwilightSurfer · 02/12/2009 11:37

Dizzy speaks the truth (or at least remembers it to speak it). These little ones want to DO and are being limited by us and/or their abilities. The frustration is through the rough. Reese is such a calm person until she's removed from a dangerous climbing situation. It's like she's saying "NOOOOOOOOOOO!" and being completely defeated. They'll get the hang of things after a few more bumps and bruises.

Thanks Oops! He's still sleeping. As a matter of fact the whole house is still sleeping. It's 6:30am!!! I need to shower but will wait till after school run. I hate getting all spiffy only to come home to clean house and do laundry. I too must venture out later though for DH's birthday things. His gifts are nicely hidden in my closet but he's requested food stuff that requires a run into town.

Snot you can just quit rubbing your temp in. Bloody freezing and raining here at the moment. You'd think this were Scotland if you didn't know better!!!!

alittlebitshy · 02/12/2009 12:54

miamla urgh poor all of you. Saw your dp's fb status and assumed he had the same as you and ss but clearly not . So far we have been all ok, thank god.

snot how frustrating about summer shoes. you;d think something really simple could be done with stock and ordering double when the summer stuff is in or somehting like that .

qod sorry about your bad night ADN about your heating .

dh is away on retreat but my mum is up - yippee. Mucho help as she can do dh type things re the dcs but also does jobs around the house. and i get to have bits of time out (and do the school run minus ds which is quicker and also warmer for him).

QueenofDreams · 02/12/2009 13:02

for the miamla household.
THanks for the hot water bottle albs I'm currently sitting wearing two jumpers and my dressing gown in a quest for warmth.
Have managed to do all the washing up. It's kind of self defeating though when you have to boil pots of water on the cooker to get washing water though
Oh and I didn't get the job I interviewed for. I'm a little disappointed because it would have been nice to know I'd be getting my first pay in a couple of months. But I'm not losing any sleep/crying any tears over it either, which is good.

VG that is OUTRAGEOUS, I am stunned into silence. What kind of recourse would you have once the immediate situation is improved? I know nothing about the health system over there, is there some way to complain? Your poor mum Sending you all the support I can muster.

QoD sounds like the positive thinking plan is working out for you I've been meaning to ask how you feel you're getting on. I find changing my thinking habits to be an ongoing process, am often tripped up by the unexpected, but on the whole there seems to be a slow, incremental improvement.

Oh VG that's awful, not surprised you're . You'd think that people of a certain age have earned the right to a patch of floor when poorly FFS.

Have been torturing myself looking at the Alister Sawday website. Just fancy something right by a beach, bit scruffy is ok if that is part of the charm, for less than £700 a week peak times. Suspect IAMBU. Here's a lovely one near me if anyone fancies a Southcoast stay.

Have to wake up baby now, shove a late lunch in him and nip to Somerfields to buy advent calendars before school pickup time. Wonder if they'll be a bargain price to soothe my guilt about them being late.

QueenofDreams · 02/12/2009 13:54

vg that is it's absolutely beyond words. Hoping your mum gets proper treatment/a room soon.

cyteen I would say the same. It's like 2 steps forward one step back. I've had a few setbacks over the last couple of weeks with the birthday/christmas/no money things. But on the whole I'm getting better at it. It's so easy to fall into a loop of negative thinking where everything gets worse and worse. Strangely, I've found doing the FLY thing quite helpful Despite the sickly terminology, it's all about breaking things down and taking things one step at a time instead of looking at the insurmountable obstacle and being overwhelmed by it (iyswim). I've realised it's a trait in my family to dwell on the negative. My parents and siblings do it. At least I recognise it in myself and I'm trying to change it. My new motto is 'onwards and upwards' (most of the time )
