Hmm might be a bit early for a festive thread title but thought we could get in the mood.

None of that tasteful two colour decoration scheme in my tent - oh no. The gawdier the better.

Don't think Secret Santas need to be too secret do they? At least once each one is opened it's fair game. Bit worried about TS's possible double-up, it's entirely possible I screwed it up but hope not or someone will miss out. Will go check my sent messages.

My dad's just arrived to do the tiling at last!!! Means my shelves can then go up and I can set up my kitchen properly and DD can move back into her bedroom.

This is actually getting urgent as DH seems to be suffering to the effect wet weather has on our bedroom (I have to take his word as I have no such sensitivities.) So last night he slept in with Kurt but would not listen when I said he'd have to co-sleep if Kurt was being a PITA. Hence me being woken by him swearing at Kurt and I didn't fancy a 2am argument so ended up with Kurt and DD in with me. Just makes me so mad because I never swear at the kids, no matter how pissed off I get. And when I try to give him tips to avoid getting into a sweary situation I'm either ignored or accused of patronizing.

alittlebitshy · 01/12/2009 11:47

not posted secret santa yet. is it really bad it if don't manage to do so until thurs????????

TwilightSurfer · 01/12/2009 11:49

Buckets I've learned men can't take directions from their wives without becoming pissy about it. Even when they don't express their pissiness you can see it lurking inside. Silly silly silly.

Oh and don't worry about the SS thing. I think it's one SS but the gift was split for shipping ease from the store. Like the girls kitchen and food. The kitchen is here....the food......who knows where that is but it was all ordered from the same place at the same time.

VG ((((HUG)))) I hope your mother is better soon.

Totally lost interest in the parent website last night. I just don't have the time.

And on that note....I'm late as usual. Be back later.

Secret Santa posted

bleurgh stinky baby for the hundreth (4th) time today

oopsandbabycoconut · 01/12/2009 15:39

Dizzy - we also have supreme stinkies today (3 so far) - I think it has to do with the vast amounts of food she eats - well it's not increasing her weight so it's gotta go somewhere

I hope my secret santa get there in one piece I put enough wrapping/packaging to fill a rubbish tip

dizzydixies · 01/12/2009 15:46

Oops - definately something other than food consumption going on here although I haven't given her my laxative rocket fuel homemade soup today incase its that

she's still a bit miserable too so I think its teeth somehow

DH and I wandered along to have a look at the cottage that we've hired for the PIL next week (when I say we they paid for it ) and its lovely the company dropped the keys in yesterday so our noses got the better of us (less that 24hrs later) nice and clean and right on the water - fingers crossed it meets the approval of the Irish Mammy

First box of Christmas Decorations came in out the shed today (I needed some wrapping for the secret santa) and the girls are running about hyper now as they've got their mickey mouse santa hats with their names on - going to be a LLLOOONNNGGGGGG 24 days [meep]

hotterpotter · 01/12/2009 17:10

Secret Santa Father Christmas in the post and my DD has been like yours Dizz - the Christmas books were in the wrapping paper bag so she has been pestering DH to read her festive stories. It was cold enough to feel Christmassy today too

cyteen · 01/12/2009 17:53

How is it that all kids know how to make you feel like a shit mum, are they born with a gene or something? All day long it's been moan moan moan - no amount of crafting, dancing, singing, hallway football or tasty snacks could cheer him up. We go out for a hot chocolate (because I will otherwise go mad) and he is the soul of toddler charm, sitting nicely with me on the sofa, chatting to me, giving me kisses. We get back home and instantly MOAN MOAN MOAN shun food harass cat MOAN MOAN MOAN. I put the telly on in the end and now he's sitting in front of it doing his best impression of a neglected child

CyteensSecretSanta · 01/12/2009 18:10

Darling Cyteen, tis I, Santa,

I just wanted you to know that you are right up there on the 'nice' list and appreciate that as a new(ish) mum coping so well isn't as easy as it could be. We, here at the North Pole, are very proud of your efforts and during his interview (we interview all children re their parents and speak fluent Toddler) J informed us of how well you are doing and how well you pass all his little tests - for example, apparently just this morning he decided to test your patience by doing a moaning excercise and you passed with flying colours by distracting him with a change of scene and hot chocolate oh and by the way he likes a bit of TV, he is a male after all .

In light of this ongoing quality of care and good effort all round, we acknowledge the fact you are a FABULOUS mum, loving partner and dear friend to all of those on here. You present will hopefully symbolise what we hope is possible for you in 2010 and beyond.

so take care, chin up - you're doing great

love Santa (ho ho ho)

oopsandbabycoconut · 01/12/2009 18:18

DIZZY - It looks like you are heading for heavy snow this evening

Cyteen - You are not a crappy mum!!! They are all at it at the moment DD was very similar today as we had to wait in for an electrician, we painted for christmas cards - she whinged, we made biscuits she stirred the mixture and stuck her fingers init and whinged, we played, she whinged the DH came home and she was sweetness and light so he took her out to the farmshop for frothy milk and toast I think they just get bored with the same company day in and out. Thankfully we have babycafe tomorrow and lunch out with a friend.
P.S. Your santa speaks the whole truth!

cyteen · 01/12/2009 18:18

Aw I have just welled up a little at that In fairness to him, he does have a temperature (again) and is probably feeling pretty crap underneath the toddler high spirits. He's still my squiggly snuggly boy

cyteen · 01/12/2009 18:20

oops DS is also going through a phase of being in love with Daddy - when DP is here he's wall-to-wall laughter and giggles and fun, the minute the front door shuts behind DP's departing back he starts up. Almost makes me think I should leave them to it for a weekend

dizzydixies · 01/12/2009 18:25

oh and maybe you should let them have a lads weekend - Santa might have you up at the North Pole for a few days rest, he seems to be a fan of yours

dizzydixies · 01/12/2009 18:28

where did my fecking long first post go - that one makes no sense without it

oopsandbabycoconut · 01/12/2009 18:30

I had wondered why you started with 'oh' Dizz.

dizzydixies · 01/12/2009 18:30

ah feck oops are we really [sigh] DH is on till 2am and will no doubt come home and decide to use me to heat himself up [meep][slap him right down emoticon]

cyteen - D being an absolute tyrant these past few days, poor DD2 had to give up her hat this morning on the school run as D was screaming blue murder because she wanted it maybe babies suffer from SAD as well as us and they have the additional problem of not realising that Christmas is just round the corner and there is something to look forward to oh and bubble wrap cut up into squares worked wonders is for a little while - she's now running about with the wii Mario Kart steering wheel happy as a little piggy in her vest

found it, found it!!! got to love the back button!!!

hotterpotter · 01/12/2009 18:41

DS still utterly charming which is a relief as DD has turned into the whinger from hell . I thought my marvellous parenting had neatly sidestepped the terrible twos but no, we are having effing ferocious/feral fours instead . Chin up cyteen with a bit of luck he is getting it all out of the way and the rest of his childhood will be sweetness and light

Took DS into town today to get him some new shoes, but the only fecking shoe shop actually in town didn't have any shoes that would fit him although she said he's a 5 H+, his feet are almost wider than they are long. Looks like he'll be in his pink wellies until we can get to Leeds next week. On the plus side, I got these boots for me, and they fit without looking like wellies, hurrah

dizzydixies · 01/12/2009 18:43

nice boots Hots - if you know what he's measuring in at can you not buy some online or would you prefer them to be fitted properly?

hotterpotter · 01/12/2009 18:51

To be honest Dizzy I think he really needs to try them on - the lady in Clarks said he was wider than an H fitting so he'd have to go up a size to get the width right, but then there's the danger of them being too loose back to front and rubbing, which was the problem with the one pair he did try on. He looks mighty fetching in his pink boots, and we all enjoy a trip on the train when work is not involved so it'll be fine. Plus hopefully I will have loads of time on my hands from next week as I will no longer need driving lessons...

Oh and I take back every word about DS, whinge whinge, howl, cry, yell

dixiecringles · 01/12/2009 18:53

thats because you outed him on MN for wearing pink boots!!!!

oopsandbabycoconut · 01/12/2009 18:55

oooh look a new Christmas flavour of crisps Dixiepringles

hotterpotter · 01/12/2009 18:55

LOL! Actually he was quite attached to a pair of dark pink mary-jane's in Clarks , boy shoes are shit compared to girl ones
