Hmm might be a bit early for a festive thread title but thought we could get in the mood.

None of that tasteful two colour decoration scheme in my tent - oh no. The gawdier the better.

oh God what a bloody morning - D is apparently angry with the WHOLE world and has done nothing but shout at me for the past hour - I've absolutely had it and its only 9.48

TwilightSurfer · 30/11/2009 12:01

present

cyteen · 30/11/2009 12:06

Yes, a bit eventful here too - spent an hour waiting in doctor's surgery to be seen by a man who apparently has no time to do his job, as he just stuck a stethscope on DS's back and said 'he's fine, chest is clear'. I said I could sometimes hear/feel rattling when I held him - 'well, it's not coming from his chest' Where tf is it coming from then, his feet? Anyway, DS was a little lovely in the waiting room so not all bad.

Then came home and put him in his cot as he had fallen asleep in the sling (aaahhhhh), put some stuff on to cook for our lunch when he wakes, only for the cheapo glass saucepan lid to shatter into one billion tiny slivery shards that went everywhere So have had fun trying to clean all that up. I shall have to get the vac out when DS is awake, he hates it but a slightly scared toddler is better than one with infected glass splinters in his foot.

miamla hope the sickness has passed and gone now. Poor little T, he must feel totally wrung out.

cyteen · 30/11/2009 12:07

Sorry, I forgot to say oops what a relief for you all but I am SEETHING at the doctor you spoke to. Makes a joke out of the term 'professional' doesn't it, what a wanker.

Truly this is the season of the whinge Today we've been to the park (DS walked there all on his own [proud]), sang songs, played games, I've made a nutritious lunch, we've been out in the backyard, DS has emptied my pan and tupperware cupboards, and still it's been wall to wall whinge-o-matic. Now I have given up trying to be ubermum since nothing I do seems to make a difference - the telly is on and his dummy is in his mouth

oopsandbabycoconut · 30/11/2009 17:57

I seem to have everyone's happy child - DD is being sweetness and light, charging around the house yelling at the cat, snuggling anyone who walks close enough and generally being deliciousness personified. I told her to say sorry to the cat earlier as she scared the living *(&^% out of the poor creature and now she is walking around saying 'showwweee' to everyone she meets whilst cuddling them.

DH has come home from work with a raging temp and the shivers so I have made him a whiskey hottoddy given him 2 paracetamol and set him up on the sofa to rest. I called FIL to say DH won't be in tomorrow as he was ill and I am looking after my own interests for once - he was a bit but they are away on holiday again next week for 10 days and I need DH to be well as he has to run the business and I want a well DH to enjoy out night away next week.

Cyteen - there is something about certain doctors that makes you wonder why they bothered and didn't become vets instead then they wouldn't have to talk to patients!

Miamla - hope T is on the mend and you and DP haven't caught anything.

Sazzles - look after your back

TS hope family stuff is going okay.

No1 - Hope you are on the mend too.

back in a bit DD demanding yet more food!!

TwilightSurfer · 30/11/2009 18:08

Cyteen, I thought that was "ubermom" to set the child in front of the telly with a dummy. Might have to give my Ubermom Crown back if not.

Sazzles, do you have an exercise ball you can drape yourself over. Not sure whether to tell you to lay forwards or backwards on it since it depends on the bad point in your back....so try both.

Oops, sounds as if you have a lovely day minus DH's fever, of course.

Busy as a bee here. I've made loads of mental notes that I've lost somewhere. I'm due at the hand doctor in two hours with the negative xrays from the other doc.....that I've not picked up yet. Someone asked about my fam. The ones I've seen have been incredible. We've shared loads of holiday fun (as seen by all the pictures I keep flooding FB with). My brother and crew have not been seen or heard from. I, for one moment, felt bad for him as my uncle forgot to mention my brother in his Thanksgiving FB status on Thanksgiving Day. It was a grand note wishing us all well and lots of love. He mentioned everyone BUT him. Oh well. My dad saw him briefly I think but otherwise they've removed themselves on account of me and I will just have to live with that.....while enjoying the rest of the family in the process. I wonder if he realized exactly who he's hurting here.

Must go wake a sleeping baby. Wish me luck.

BIG (((((HUG))))) all around!!!!

oopsandbabycoconut · 30/11/2009 18:42

ooh forgot to sya secret Santa posted today so watch your mailboxes ladies!

hotterpotter · 30/11/2009 18:45

Evening all

Sorry to hear of all the poorly/whingy DCs, DPs and mamas look after yourselves and hope you are all feeling better soon.

Thankfully we are all OK, apart from DD's perpetual whining although think I need a bit more sleep, as we were at the soft play hell place on Saturday morning with a few friends to celebrate DD's birthday, when I suddenly panicked that I couldn't see DS. DH and one friend looking at me all when I was looking around saying "where is he???"

Turns out he was...on my knee My poor brain has all gone

hotterpotter · 30/11/2009 18:47

I saw that Cyteen outed herself as Buckets' Secret Santa, and I guess whoever gets TS' will realise from the exotic stamps it's from her, so are we outing ourselves or not? Mine not posted but I have got it, just need to go up in the loft and find some paper!

dizzydixies · 30/11/2009 18:58

am the same Hots, have my secret Santa gift but forgot to post it will try again tomorrow

and thank you for making me smile re I being on your knee - its SOOOOO something I would do

CaptainCaveman · 30/11/2009 19:11

lol hotpot

Well if we all post our secret santas tomorrow then noone will really know who sent what? (unless the post mark gives it away!!)

oops what a tosspot the dr is. Must be the exceptional training they receive . Hugs though, bleeding is vary scary. When I bled with ds2 at 30 weeks I too was sobbing with relief when the mw put the sonicaid on my tum and I heard his heartbeat.

PoinsettiaBouquets · 30/11/2009 19:14

Anyone wants to make their Christmas gift easy for their DP? Just load up the shopping basket at Allposters and sit your DP in front of it with the 25% discount code 25SHOP. Everybody happy (except the DP later when he has to hang a picture he hates somewhere prominent).

Didn't think chest rattles are generally bad are they? I know a musical wheeze inbreath is A&E country (unless already DX'd with asthma) and a barky outbreath is usually croup but not much you can do to help that. DS1 had what the GP called a 'happy wheeze' for many months after a rattly cough & cold at about 1yr old, so I've not worried about them since then.

PoinsettiaBouquets · 30/11/2009 19:17

Oops Glad everything is ok. Why not print out the Mumsnet Miscarriage Manifesto and send that GP a copy? Come to think of it, we should all be doing it to all our GPs shoudlnt' we?

Had unsuccessful day Xmas shopping in town getting v wet. Then came home and spent a v productive half hour Xmas shopping on Ebay so that's all right then. Don't know why I bother leaving the house.

dizzydixies · 30/11/2009 19:40

buckets is Poppy in the Secret Santa thing otherwise the post mark will give mine away completely

oops very on your behalf - silly twunt of a Dr - glad all ok though
