Hmm might be a bit early for a festive thread title but thought we could get in the mood.

None of that tasteful two colour decoration scheme in my tent - oh no. The gawdier the better.

I'll second that VG - hope you get lots of hugs tomorrow Dizzy, will be thinking of you even if not posting.

VG also spot on on books as ever... Antonia Forest YES and of course Marianne Dreams though that was not really my reason for DD's name. But also yes to everyone else's faves, Railway Children [gulp], Streatfeild, WKD, Frances H-B, Little Women (and the rest) etc, etc... Could go on all night to be honest but some of you have other things to worry about so I'll shut up.

TS hope your get-together was not too painful...

oopsandbabycoconut · 22/11/2009 21:03

You are right VG - Ronan it has always been but Brian will do in a squeeze.

ALBS - very for you friend. I have to say it is one of my big fears - I had to go and check on DD and sniff her in when I read your post.

VG - am very envious of your night out. DH and I are trying to plan a night away before Christmas but I am struggling - I don't want MIL being in charge and DH doesn't understand why she can't be. SO it is basically my mum or we never stay away again, strangely he is coming around to my way of thinking.

Buckets - YAY for being home.

Dizzy - I have crumble and clotted cream if that helps you?? enough for you to share with DH too.

oopsandbabycoconut · 22/11/2009 21:05

Dizzy - will be thinking of you tomorrow.

dizzydixies · 22/11/2009 21:13

oops shall take you up on your delightful offer thank you howevershallnotbesharingwithgreedydh

an may I say without you thinking I am pushing any kind of guilt on you - I felt EXACTLY the same re MIL looking after the girls - was having none of it at all. however, as you are aware, we now have no choice so its either MIL or nowt. NY away time resulted in them managing with 3 sick children and ok, things didn't go exactly as I had hoped but I've checked and double checked and they've all still got 10 fingers and 10 toes (albeit poor DD2 had 2 out of 10 infected fingers) its always an option even if you don't want it to be a regular thing

right I'm off ladies, time to stop being a greeting faced wench to DH and let him see I can cope for an evening without my laptop or imaginary friends [meep]

thank you all too for your kind and lovely thoughts

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 22/11/2009 21:13

albs how very sad for your friend. Truly awful and something that I and probably a lot of people fear. I too hope they are getting the right support.

dizzy thinking of you too my love. sazzles idea sounds lovely for tomorow if you get the time.

Hi everyone.

oopsy hope you manage a night away.
Me and dh are going here for the night on a Romantic break

ALBS That really is awful I don't know how you get over something like that. WIll second the fact that you can get a happier outcome later on. BIL's sister lost a baby at 38 weeks due to placenta failure. She now has two DSs.
No1 very here. I would love to be going for a romantic break on 4th December (as it's my birthday) but no suce thing is happening sadly. We don't have the money. That hotel looks gorgeous.

We popped in to see MIL this afternoon. DP's older sister was there. Man she was a moody cow today. DP was offering to buy a guinea fowl as an exra for Christmas dinner. SIL started bitching that she wants her turkey it's not Christmas without turkey. FFS it's an EXTRA you stupid cow, we're not replacing the turkey. She kept on bloody bitching about everything we said, saying we could stuff our bailey's, champagne and guinea fowl. Honestly, I think AF is due there

hotterpotter · 22/11/2009 22:50

Well whoever was waiting for their period, I think it got delivered to my womb by mistake , it's only 24 days since the last one, grrrr.

ALBS so sorry to hear this sad news your friends must be in pieces.

Queenie I've never had guinea fowl, is it nice? Champers and Baileys though, yes please

Evening to the rest of you . Shouldn't be on here as I am still making the fecking calendars and the special offer runs out in 75 minutes... Have had a busy day doing them,as well as trying to work out who swapped my beautiful girl for some mad child hell-bent on getting in trouble I think (hope) she is still suffering the after effects of her virus as she napped this afternoon but still was asleep in 2 minutes a bed time so she must be tired. DS o the other hand didn't sleep at all today please don't say it's the beginning of the end for his naps???

Made Lola's face out of icing too, ready for DD's cake which I have yet to bake, although I still have 24 hours.Should have been finishing an application form off today but never got round to it and now tomorrow is looking a bit chocker too...

lwfhthevampireslayer · 23/11/2009 01:00

Hello everyone.

A bit tired and pregnant here. DH done lots with DS this weekend. And he has exams this week.

re: 28th - how about 8am my time, 11am your time on the Sunday morning (29th) to meet you all via skype? Am very excited. But I won't need any bedding as I will be able to sleep in my own bed.

Random hour long middle of the night wakings from DS the last week or so.

Christmas cards ... on the list of things to do. Hmmm. Bed also.

Thoughts for all.

PS can I throw Sue Barton into the mix for childhood books ...

lwfhthevampireslayer · 23/11/2009 01:03

PS steaknife will the jobcentre pay for your trip to London for the interview? Might save you a train fare. Worth finding out. Was randomly thinking about this earlier.

Weather horribly hot and humid at the moment.

No more little fuckers seen over the w/e. Fumigator due in three days.

TwilightSurfer · 23/11/2009 01:32

hey longway

so ladies what about this for the girls for christmas? trying to figure out the santa gift.

snotexpectingsnow · 23/11/2009 02:19

Hi TS sorry to hear about family gathering and the issues with your SIL. I didn't get on very well with my SIL (DH's little sister) as they are very close and I think she was jealous of me. It took a drunken night at a family wedding for us to manage to settle our differences but since then things have been pretty good. Plus us both having DSs in the same year really helped bring us closer together. I'm not advocating that you have to do the same but maybe some one on one time with her would help to set the record straight and let her get to know you properly?

Dizzy hugs for today

Re 28th - is it likely you'll be up late? If so can do skype around midnight your time being 8am on 29th my time - then again given DS recent record we could do anytime from 9pm!

Albs that's so

DS is covered in measles type rash from his MMR - poor thing it looks horrid.

Re Secret Santa - I'm not sure mine is going to be too 'secret' as the recipient may recognise a Singapore post mark! Ditto for TS' recipient presumably?

luckoftheirish · 23/11/2009 07:16

morning yawn yawn yawn again...

one gorgeous 4yr old girl for sale.. why in hells name will she not sleep thru.. twice she got up last night and came into me.. nothing wrong just wanted my BED! Duly moved her back, cuddled her back to sleep... why does this keep happening?? answers on a postcard please...

big hugs for you today Dizzy thinking of you..

glad you survived your dinner with family TS...

sorry about ds spots snot..

went xmas shopping yesterday and only managed to get one present!!! i guess thats what happens when you have two dcs in tow..

re books i'm a bit sad cos my favourite books were ST. Clare's and Mallory Towers!!! oh with a bit of secret seven, the famous five and five findouteres and dog.. sentimental as my dad used to read them to me every night when i was little!!!

hotterpotter · 23/11/2009 07:52

Grrrrrrr we have only been downstairs for 15 minutes and I am ready to swing for DD already

Loti it's rubbish isn't it when the little one is sleeping and it's the bigger one who keeps waking you up. Mine usually starts around 6am, she just comes and stands by our bed, so you take her back no problem, then 5 minutes later she's there again .

Sorry to hear about DS' spots snot , but way better than real measles I imagine, and at least they should be gone by Christmas. We keep forgetting to take DS for his , must try and get him done this week.

Hi LWFH , hopefully a bit longer but not too much longer to go now!

TS nice kitchen! I have to say though that Father Christmas is a bit stingier in my house

Dizzy darling thinking of you today

hotterpotter · 23/11/2009 08:04

This time 4 years ago I was in hospital strapped to a machine as my waters had broken but contractions not very strong. I was in shock as only 37 weeks and wasn't expecting my baby till the due date . They said I could stay in and be induced or go home and come back the next day, so I decided to go home because I wasn't ready to be a mummy Didn't sleep well that night, started contracting around 4am the next day then at 1.59pm my lovely DD was born

LWFH and Oops you are lucky girls to be on this amazing adventure again

Trying to catch up but DS has other plans

Sazz how is DD2 now?

albs what awful news, I am so sorry Like all of us, the thought of it is so terrifying to me. I hope they can find comfort and support through the dark times ahead.

There was a programme on Radio 4 the other night about the placenta, was very interesting; apparently the percentage of pregnancies that even make it through the first few weeks is absolutely tiny. Makes you realise how miraculous our babies really are, how fragile life is.

hotter stop, you're making me broody

Off to stay and play this morning with very energetic DS - guess he's back to full health then. Am supposed to be doing some work this afternoon, including phoning some people, but I don't rate my chances! Will never agree to work outside contracted hours again, it's shit and stresses me out.

Morning

DD has developeds a random cough from nowhere it appeared at 2 am and stayed the night! DH developed stroppiness at 2.45 and moved rooms it was too noisy and he was having freaky nightmares, which of course was my fault as he was going to be tired. DD finally settled in with me at about 4.30ish until 6 when she started again. I handed her to DH at 7.30 and went back to bed until just before he left for the office. DD is tired and so am I, it is pouring so hard with rain that we can barely see the end of the (not so long)drive.

HP - thank for the reminder that this is a amazing journey, as much I am thrilled to be here the sickness has been getting me down BUT seems to be easing so hopefully I can start to enjoy it.

No1 - hotel looks amazing but a bit too far for us - I think we will go here which is where we got married and is only 40mins away.

TS - sorry to hear of your family trouble. are you going to get your hand seen to this week?

Cyteen - Enjoy stay and play

Snot - DD got a rash afte her jabs too - hope it shifts soon and he is back on form.

Hi Everyone else - I am being pestered for peese peese gilk. As she asked so nicely I should get her a cup.

luckoftheirish · 23/11/2009 10:05

wotcha sazz.. never heard of that clock.. desperate measures needed so have duly order the clock ..
