Good evening everyone, yep Im back and hopefully I can post regularly again now we have internet that works, although I still need to get a dongle for my pc, am currently using J's Christmas present but obviously will have to wrap it soon. I thought I had better test it first and set it all up ready for him, well thats my excuse anyway

I have tried to keep up using my mobile but am ashamed to say I gave up after a while, it was useless. It was easier to get on facebook so I've been able to stay up to date on a few things, especially all the new babies, congratulations all, and the horrible illnesses. The bugs seem never ending lately. Oh well at least it's nearly Christmas

I amso organised this year, its actually quite scary. I have all the presents brought and wrapped, well except this one obviously! I think I over did the Santa ones though, have been buying them and leaving them round IL's and also getting MIL to go online and get a few things for me as well as buying a few things that were hidden in my bedroom. As a result I lost track of what i'd got and now all four kids have HUGE amounts. Alana even has a present for Easter and her birthday presents are all sorted too
All I have to do is buy the food and drop presents off and Im done. I think thats why Im more excited this year, dont feel as stressed, apart from when Deacon attacks the tree. None of my others did it but Deacon is grabbing it at every opportunity. I tried putting him in his walker but he climbs out head first as soon as my back is turned and rushes back to the tree. He hates the playpen so just screams when hes in it for longer than 5mins. I definately know Ive got him!!

Right Im off to bed now, have to pack the laptop away first though Think I will have to get one for myself, so nice being able to sit here in bed using it. Didnt realise what Id been missing out on lol

Themasterandsnowballs · 20/12/2009 18:19

Welcome back Pebble.

Now after all the excitement of last week I need a round-up of Secret Santa who got what and when.

Mine hasn't turned up yet, but I'm ever hopeful, after all there are a few days left yet . Anyway I have a whole new house to get sorted. .

Themasterandsnowballs · 20/12/2009 18:21

Oooooo I meant to say hi to you too MKG, sounds like you have had a rough time of it recently. Don't stay away, we are here for you.

AprilMeadow · 20/12/2009 19:04

i've not got mine

JamInMyWellies · 20/12/2009 20:16

I am going to rant for a wee bit then will get back to the festiveness.

Was shmoks 1st b-day party this afternoon. One of my sisters couldn't come as she is uber pregnant lives a 4hour drive away and we will see next wkend for Christmas. Absoloutely fair enough she sent shmoks pressie and he got it on his b-day. My elder sister lives close enough to come but said she couldnt as she has just moved house and needed to unpack. My parents were going to go pick up DN from sister and bring her but she phoned last night to tell mum not to bother for no real apparant reason. Then DP's family came and they are the ones who have really hacked us both off. Forst off MIL & FIL gave him a cheque for his b-day which is what they do for parchie but they also give a gift too, no gift for shmoks. Gt grandfather arrived with tiny gift as did GT aunt who have for parchie given very lovely gifts in the past. Oh and to top it all off friend from our village meant to be coming didnt turn up or even phone and I know all is ok she just couldnt be arsed. Poor poor shmoks I just feel like no-one could really be arsed it was teh same when he was born we didnt get cards like we did for Archie. If when it comes to Archie's b-day and they do their normal there is going to be ructions as they are treating shmoks unfairly!

And breathe........

So secret santa. I have not recieved mine and it looks like mine has not been recieved my my recipient. I will be most pissed off if it doesnt turn up.

Breathe again........

Hi pebble nice to hear from you again

How are our lovely December babies getting on. PJ is Lexie feeling better?? Tilly how are the mamaries are you Dolly Parton?? Charley how is gorgeous little H?

JamInMyWellies · 20/12/2009 20:22

In all my ranting forgot to say thanks AM for his card. x

largevirginbirthandtonic · 21/12/2009 07:57

Jam hope you are breathing again...

It is frustrating when these tings happen. No one teats the second baby the same. Yu should see what happens when oyu get to 7

Pregnacy if the same No one seems to take much interest. Depressing.

You just have to gloss over it. At least shmocks won't notice this year. Poor you. Nt really what you want a few days before Xmas.

My secret santa has been recieved but i don't have mine.

We are off to London tomorrow! Just a day trip. Show B the lights and hopefully pop in to the Rainforest cafe for lunch. Tis fully booked so am hoping to just wander in and get a seat. What are our chances do you think?

Would like to take B to see Santa too, any ideas where we could do this?

We hae just bought two Bearded dragons! They are super friendly and very sweet. especially love feeding themthe live crickets It is such fun!

AprilMeadow · 21/12/2009 08:10

TMAM, How's the house?

JAM, how frustrating for you. TBH that would piss me right off if our family treated any of ours differently. 9/10 they dont realise that they are doing anything wrong, i think its just because we remember what the other one/s had.
Glad you got the card

Hiya Pebble, nice to see you back with us

Made it through the weekend of kids parties, IL's over for dinner etc etc. 10 kids here on Friday & then MIL, 3xBIL & SIL over for 'xmas lunch' on Sat. Lucy was not too happy on Sat, i think it was too many people in the house for her as yesterday she was back to her normal chilled out self.

Sending J off to an activity club this week (m-w) mummy. He is VERY excited as it means he is allowed a packed lunch.

How is everyone else doing?

AprilMeadow · 21/12/2009 08:11

the mummy thing should be

JamInMyWellies · 21/12/2009 09:39

LG&T am outing myself as your SS. Am so sorry it has not arrived. I posted it a couple of wks ago. Am very mainly as I used our new village postmistress who shook the box and asked what was inside conspirecy theories are mounting against her. Especially as the other parcels I sent all arrived and she was only interested in yours. Grrrrr.

largevirginbirthandtonic · 21/12/2009 09:58

Oh NO Jam! Can you make a complaint? Surely she can't be nicking them!

Worry not my lovely. Hopefully it will turn up

AM that link did not work. What workshop? Have you sent him off to be an elf

AprilMeadow · 21/12/2009 11:37

JAM, that's awful!!

He's gone off to do an SCL activity club at a local school. He was SO excited about going. 10-4 for 3 days cost the same as 1 day of their nursery fees

Moijaimelacountry · 21/12/2009 13:49

Jam... It's so annoying, I remember feeling exactly like that when Maddie was born. She had half the new baby cards and only got a few pressies, the girls still never get as much as H even now for christmas and b'days, he was the "boy" needed in our family and he gets spoilt for it. The girls still don't realise and I let it wash over me now if I can. Not easy though!

Ubber excitement here for Christmas day, the kids are driving me potty! I still have some wrappin to do but am pretty organised.

Hope all your SS's turn up.

Tillyscoutsmum · 21/12/2009 14:40

Hi all....apols in advance for one handed typing - I have gorgeous sleeping baby snuggling in and I'm not putting him down . I may even resort to txt spk (don't hunt me down SOH )

Jam - so sorry for little shmocks. I too have noticed a big difference this time round and everyone seems to be busy getting ready for xmas etc. My dad finally turned up yesterday to meet his first grandson (6 days after being born and they only live 10 mins away but were busy all weekend sorting xmas shopping ). They stayed less than an hour and rushed home to get stuff in the freezer ! Neither of my brothers have met Fergus yet either. Anyhoo

We're off to MIL's tomorrow for Xmas. Back on Boxing Day. Am looking forward to being looked after for a few days. Think DH looking forward to break as well - he's been running around like a loon

Fergus is feeding like a demon. He had his day 5 weigh in yesterday and had been warned he may lose up to 10% of birth weight or even a bit more cos he was a big baby. He clearly hadn't been listening - he put nearly 7oz on . At least I know the hourly feeds day and night have been working ! I feel my nipples may well drop off soon though

I was intending to do birth story but think I'll wait for 2 hands - I will however say that birthing stools rock !!

LastOfTheMulledWine · 21/12/2009 16:18

Jammy, your ss present was posted aaages ago. Not to worry though, nothing that was sent at the same time has been delivered either it would seem. Saw postie this morning who didn't seem surprised. We have about a foot of snow in the less affected places. Postie said (on the quiet) that there's a BIG backlog.

JamInMyWellies · 21/12/2009 16:51

I shall put my pitchfork away then and give Mrs Goggins the benefit of the doubt.

Tilly wow what a chunck tis lovely when they are like that. Your comment of nipples falling off was me this time last yr. Brings tears of joy and a few of ouchiness thinking about it.

I guess those of us December babies will have to make an extra fuss of the weenie ones.

Themasterandsnowballs · 21/12/2009 17:19

oh Jam, sometimes family are really the last to understand. It took my (child free) sis 6 weeks to come and visit from London to SW when J was born. I was livid especially when she knew we were only to be there for a year.

However I have been to three little birthday parties this week and all have been well attended with much effort by the mummies so hopefully as your tiddlers get older people will make more effort.

Talking of effort poor dh is currently in London, laden down with 2 suitcases of Christmas pressies for us all from my family.

I bloody knew I should have set the SS date a bit earlier. Sorry guys.

Tills sound like you are both doing marvellously. Mine never lost weight. Honestly you should see the size of J now. He's like the Incredible Hulk.

My brain is fried by house admin. I have managed to change the leccy and water accounts and it all was easy and smooth (unheard of for Africa), I have an electrician putting in new sockets and a 'fundi' to sort out various other bits and bobs and possibly a new roof (eek). We have original 1970's bathrooms, mustard yellow and avocado green, so I am hoping I can get someone to come and resurface/enamel them in white. I need to fumigate the place too. Hmmmm I haven't even thought much about Christmas.....

Moijaimelachristmaspudding · 21/12/2009 18:56

Do you know the thing that really really sends my blood boiling with December b'days?

Wrapping Paper!

God help anyone who wraps Harrisons b'day presents in Christmas wrapping paper! Now I know it only gets wripped off, but it's his b'day not Christmas, if he was a June baby I'm damn sure they wouldn't use Christmas paper so why use it just beacuse it's two days after Christmas day. Grrrrr, fortunately I have voiced my opinion to most family and friends so they don't do it.

Oh and remember to buy your b'day cards for your December children before October if you want a nice one. The shops seem to take away half their b'day cards to make way for Christmas cards and it's really difficult to find a nice card.

4 more sleeps..... we are excited in this house, I love Christmas.

Pebblemum · 21/12/2009 22:20

I understand how upsetting it is when certain children are treated differently for no apparant reason. With my first three I had piles of cards and presents but with Deacon I only got a couple of cards and about 4 presents. I didnt mind at first but now when I compare the cards, they are all kept together along with lists of presents received, it makes it feel as if his birth was somehow less important. Yet to me he was all the more important because of the hassle he had during birth.

I cant believe how quick this year has gone by. Deacon is just starting to stand for more then 10seconds on his own and trying to move his feet. Its hard to believe that he wasnt here this time last year, feels as if we've had him for ages

Im not sure if you remember, its been so long since Ive been on here, but Alana was hardly talking, she could understand everything but wasnt able to get her words out. Well over the past 3wks she has suddenly started picked it all up. She started off with a few short sentences like help me mummy then it was everyones name and now she can say most things. Its amazing how quick she's progressed.

Oh well chatting on here isnt going to get my last bits of wrapping done is it. Made the mistake of going to Asda the other day for a couple of food bits and came away with clothes for the kids I must stop doing that, they have got piles of presents, god knows where im going to put them afterwards, most of them are still up MILs.

AbbyLou · 22/12/2009 08:07

Good morning everyone! Happy Holidays and all that! 'Tis me, your fair-weather teacher friend, back in the world of family after all the craziness that is 'the end of term'!!! We are all just about ready for the big day here, just a handful of presents to wrap and we're done.
It was C's birthday on Saturday, I can't believe my little baby is 5. 5 sounds like such a big, grown-up age. He has grown so much recently too and everyone is saying how old he looks. We had a disco party for him on Sunday with lots of his friends. He absolutely loved it, he had a big grin on his face the whole time. We had a brilliant disco, really in tune with the little ones. It's the people who do our school ones so I knew they would be good. The kids were all brilliant, so well-behaved, a real credit to their parents and wonderful school.
So now the birthday is over, it's back into Christmas mode. Last night dh and I sobbed our way through Noel's Christmas Presents! How sad are we? Dh has gone to his nanna's funeral today so not such a jolly day for him but she was 92 and had had a great life so we can't be too sad. I am unable to go as we have no-one to look after the kids for the day and he had to leave at 7.20am to get to Boston with his dad. They all know they'll be in my thoughts though.

AprilMeadow · 22/12/2009 13:05

OMG I LOVE SANTA!!!!!

Thank you so much, yummmmmmmmy chocolate, marshmallows and a receipe book as well....

LastOfTheMulledWine · 22/12/2009 13:24

Happy Christmas everybody.

I think I probably explain this every year but will do so again.

Disclaimer: being a member of MN I know that the following makes me a smug, patronising, self-centred, lazy git but I care not.

I don't send Christmas cards and we only do token gifts for the family (they do the same for us). Instead we donate the money we would spend on cards and presents as an equal split between a local hospice and homeless shelter. I also go and do a couple of soup runs for the shelter around Christmas. I do other stuff through the year of course but hope that people understand that we wish them a very happy Christmas and New Year and think of them lots and lots around this time.

So, am a smug idiot, but it is done with the best of intentions.

Happy Christmas everybody.

I won't be around for a couple of months so hope all the new babies are well and I'll see you on the other side.

JamInMyWellies · 22/12/2009 18:08

Have a lovely Christmas SOH. x

Moijaimelachristmaspudding · 22/12/2009 18:53

So who says you are smug, self centered, patronising and lazy? There are no rules for everyone to do the same for Christmas are there? good for you if it's what you do and what makes you happy, no need to "explain" it to us.

Have a lovely christmas, new year and b'day SOH. xx

Themasterandsnowballs · 23/12/2009 04:30

Oh dear not another smug self satisfied idiot. There are just far too many of them around at this time of year.

Happy Christmas to you my lovely.

April, fantastic present, I wholeheartedly salute the one who sent it.

So, we have:
Red or Ded shoes for the one whose name starts with R
Choccies for the one whose name starts with C

Anyone else thus far???

Dh got back from the US/UK last night, phew, I was beginning to worry he would get stuck in the snow and ice. Now we have a lot of presents. We are all very excited. The dc are getting a baby rabbit and guinea pig and we have to go and pick them up tomorrow, they will be so pleased.
