Thanks everyone. I just feel it's a bit of a vague worry to bother the GP with. As for my leg, I think it might be a trapped nerve or something (I've been naughty, I googled my symptoms {blush]). With a tilted pelvis left over from the SPD that sounds very plausible.

ses Glad you've had your plans approved now. I know all about extentions now. Both houses we've lived in have been extended and every time we leave just as it's finished. Luckily this is a rented house or I could see DH starting on another extention, lol.

fi Sounds like G was ready for weaning by what you're saying. And she seems to enjoy it too. C never gets upset when I take food away. Clearly I haven't given her anything tasty enough yet.

llareggub · 16/11/2009 21:17

Tummum how scary, how is your friend now? I bet she is a nervous wreck. I would be.

Belgian I may be wrong and of course it probably doesn't mean much but I remember a girl at primary school who walked with her feet turning inwards. She was also quite prone to illnesses and was very, very skinny. She later became an excellent athlete and ran for Wales. She definitely grew into her body. I'm absolutely not an expert but I wonder if ballet or some other sort of dance class might be fun and help?

Fi are you going to post a picture of the cake? BLW sounds like it went well today.

Febes on the food front with your toddler, I've remembered that one of the other things I do is to offer snacks pretty continuously as I am convinced that he is bit of a grazer. I keep lots of healthy snacks that he is allowed to have whenever he wants. He is very active so I think needs lots of fuel to keep him going.

Weaning we had a very good day today. DS had puree for lunch but joined in with our roast chicken dinner this evening and had his first taste of chicken. He had a tray of veg, chicken and roast parsnip which he picked at and a parsnip and potato puree which really didn't interest him. I think he is trying to convince me of the benefits of BLW!

We had a really nice day today. It was certainly one of the better days I've had with the boys at home on my own. I actually felt like I'd been a good a mother as I could be today. I usually feel like I'm a bit too shouty or impatient. I'm sure the fact I had a decent night last night played a huge part.

FiByTheSea · 16/11/2009 21:22

Awww thanks everyone G has more hair than ds had at the same age! so every chance that it'll be luscious locks for her 2nd birthday if she follows ds's hair growing..

FiByTheSea · 16/11/2009 21:24

yes... will definitely post pics of the cake! it has a music theme and she loves bright colours so you may need sunglasses?!

SpangleMaker · 16/11/2009 21:27

Fi lovely pictures DH said 'ooh, an avocado and a pretty baby!' (DH loves avocado).

Tummum what a scare!

Febes the pilates sounds great. I'd love to do a class (ideally yoga) but I can't find any that I can do with H.

Belgian I'm afraid I don't know anything about GM skills, but do try not to worry, though easier said than done, I know. I felt a tiny bit paranoid today when I met a baby 2 weeks older than H who is sitting really well (H can't sit yet) and crawling. She dwarfed H too. It was like there was 2 months between them rather than two weeks! He is a month behind his birth age though I guess.

Momino hope H surprised you with a peaceful night.

Quiet day here, just out to Rhythm Time and to get some Vicks for H's snuffly nose. Last night he woke up 2 or 3 times crying because of phlegm in his throat/chest, poor thing.

H did a bit better with his eating today - he managed half a toast soldier and about 5 or 6 segments of satsuma. With the satsuma I bite of the ends of the segments and H sucks out the flesh. He's getting really good at it but struggles a bit with getting the empty husks out of his mouth afterwards.

Momino · 16/11/2009 21:31

laydeez. am going to bed early tonight as last night's poor sleeping has left me very grumpy and eyes crossing. good night and hope everyone sleeps well.

SpangleMaker · 16/11/2009 21:33

Goodnight Momino. I should go to bed soon, I clearly have no grip on grammar tonight. Ah well, no red pen emoticon on MN yet.

Belgianrockets · 16/11/2009 21:48

Goodnight Momi fi had a look at your pics. They're lovely. She really looks like she's enjoying that avocado!

Thanks for all your comments re my dd1. The thing is that she always used to be a bit forward (definitely crawling at C's age and walking at 10m etc...) so to have the teachers express this kind of worry is... well... worrying. DH says not to worry, but I think that I'll take her to the GP anyway. Hopefully she can be assessed properly somewhere, or I can be reassured by him/her.

Febesisalittlefirecracker · 16/11/2009 22:07

Llareggub I have been giving her more snacks as she eats them better than her meals and they are normally healthy, rice cakes, fruit etc. I used to limit snacks as it meant she ate really well for her meals but I guess I need to follow her lead at the moment.

Spangle I know its hard but try not to compare H to other LOs. My DD sat up beautifully at 6 months way before her peers and also started clapping her hands before any of her friends but she crawled and walked slightly later and is now brilliant at building blocks and role play but still not really talking much so they really are all different and just because they are 'late' with one thing doesn't mean they will be with others.

Febesisalittlefirecracker · 16/11/2009 22:07

night momi

toolbox · 16/11/2009 22:28

Belgian To be blunt, yes, I'd be worried. Not in a staying up all night worry way, there's something seriously wrong with her way', but in a 'I should get this checked out way'. The school flagging it is something to take note of. IMVO I don't think the school nurse will be much cop. I'd go to your GP who can refer you if nec. It could well be something that she grows out of naturally, or it could be something she needs to work on. But I wouldn't work on it without getting a professional opinion first.

Spangle Don't you go comparing your son, young lady, or I'll tell you off One sound decision I made after DD was born was not to compare her to others. (Although using others as a rough guide to age appropriateness is sensible.) There was one woman in my NCT group who always compared - not that I'm saying you're like this of course, comparisons are natural. It got quite irritating from her tbh. The other thing I learnt is that don't think just because your child does or doesn't do X, that they won't do or will do Y. I said before that DD was a late walker - 17 months. I thought she would be a sedentary sole. I was SO wrong. When pregnant with DS, several friends told me that I would already be used to the stereotypical physicality of boys because of DD. She was a demon. Within 2 months, you really could not tell that she'd started walking a good 7 months after her fellow NCT babies. She was soon outrunning and out-daredevil-ing all the boys.

toolbox · 16/11/2009 22:34

oops, meant to say that I'm Dandy, trying out a new name

Febesisalittlefirecracker · 16/11/2009 22:37

Crickey. I was wondering who you were Toolbox/Dandy I wasn't sure if we had a hijacker but one with sensible advice . Missed you where have you been all week?

Belgianrockets · 16/11/2009 22:49

Thanks toolboxdandy (does that mean you know mr sexybuilder). My DH is always someone who goes the don't worry about it route when I'm worried about something. TBH it's not a very helpful habit of his. I've told him so in the past too. Seems like the general consensus is GP rather than school nurse, so I'll book her in. I'll see if I can make my own app't a double one.
BTW your namechange is much more drastic than the names you were playing with earlier!

Night everyone.

sorry I kind of disappeared earlier... i downloaded jessops free software for designing photobooks etc (ds & G's xmas presents to grandparents) and got sucked into it. I have now made 2 slightly different photobooks all ready for me to give a final once over in the am and upload to complete my order

Dandy/toolbox i knew it must be you from the way you 'talked' even before i read your next post ;) I was wondering about you too & was on the verge of sending you a message on facebook as I'd noticed you'd not been updated there for a few days.

btw you're all lovely & making me with your lovely comments about G.. so pats on the back all round before i get all soppy and want to hug you!

Right well past my bed time.. night night xoxox

Momino · 17/11/2009 07:17

dandy, toolbox.

Fi excellent idea about photobooks. will have to check out deals online, some do bogof. did essops give you a good deal?

febes H is a snacker as well. she hasn't been a 3 meals a day type (yet) and seems happier with toast or fruit/veg sticks in between milk feeds. i'll gradually change that when she's eating more, I suppose.

spangle, the Toolbox is right, try not to compare though it's hard. i've said that about my DDs and sometimes it takes a lot of effort to not compare but keep thinking they all catch up with each other by 5.

uh oh. post ending abruptly as I hear 2 toddlers about to launch themselves upon me in bed (with H feeding her).

going bed to early paid off - had a full night's sleep hurrah! hope llare is right that it will have made a difference today.

hope all are well.

FiByTheSea · 17/11/2009 08:33

glad to hear you had a full nights sleep momino i'm regretting staying up late making photo books as ds woke at 5.30am. i went in, changed his bum, put him back into bed but he didn't go back to sleep.. he decided to play until morning time. so at least i got an extra snooze in that time.

photobooks i haven't found a bogof but jessops gave me £6 off it for being new customer and 40 free 6x4 photos. they're also doing good deal on calendars. i wanted a s/med size hard back photo book & i liked the sound of their quality. i'm going to google again today before i order though.

HeadlessLadyH · 17/11/2009 09:11

Morning all,

Glad you had a good night momi.

fi am toying with doing a calender. Usually use snapfit but will check jessops out now.

spangle agree. Its so hard NOT to compare, but by the time H is 2/3 it will make not one jot of difference as to when who did what at what age. The only exception to this is a little girl who is one of DS1 pals. SHe is 2 days older than him, but was talking well at 20 months. She didn't walk till about then either. Clearly concentrating on her chat! Anyway, she is now the most talkative girl I have ever come across. It is literally non stop!! So if you have an early talker, you are likely to have your ear chewed off for the rest of your life.

We had someone in our ante natal group who was always comparing, and its difficult not to get sucked in, especially with your first but don't let it worry you. They all do their stuff eventually!

R is much much better today, so have cancelled doctors. belgian I think you said the minute you make the appointment, its like a dose of medicine and they get better. There is still some phlegm there still but he is clearly getting better so no need to bother the profesionals.

However, on that note belgian I would be inclined to take your DD to GP too.

Reasonable night too. R slept from 6.45 to 1am. DH did that one (I never heard a peep!!) and then I did a feed at 3.30am as he woke again. Then all the way through till 6.30am.

I did calenders using snapfish this year. They were 33% off when I ordered and worked out to 10 pounds each now they are 50% off. They are great quality.

runningmonkey · 17/11/2009 11:05

Hi all,
Hope all are ok. Have been reading but haven't had much to say lately, think I'm feeling a bit but not sure why.

Belgian Hope your leg is ok, naughty you for googling but does sound likely doesn't it. I would get your DD checked over too if only to allay (sp?) your own worries. My mum being told there was something wrong with me for similar reasons (toes turned in) - turns out I just stand a bit funny but it was discovered I needed glasses which is why I couldn't catch a ball and was a bit clumsy. Obv not saying your DD needs them but getting me checked out was worthwhile in the end.

This talk of calendars is a great idea, was planning something sim for my gps so should get cracking on it. Thankyou.

momi yay for the good night.

dandy you'll always be dandy to me I'm afraid. I love your name.

fi gorgeous pics of your gorgeous DCs. Love the avocado ones.

We tried A on some sweet potato 'chips' last night. She didn't eat much but loved squishing them into her tray, highchair and throwing lumps on the floor. Was v funny.

Jael sounds like a scary experience. Glad you are all ok.

Right, we're off swimming in a mo, A is napping, hate waking her but going to have to if she doesn't wake up soon.

Later folks...

Belgianrockets · 17/11/2009 12:31

Hi everyone,

running Interesting comment about the needing glasses. Her eyes were last checked 2 years ago, but I suppose if she can't see, she wont be able to copy movements. My mum did need glasses from around 5 yo and I had them from 10. I might take her to the opticians now as well as the gp Oh and have fun swimming.

photobox keep sending me 2 for one photobook offers. My plan is to make a book per year of the dcs as I never get round to having hard copies printed of our digital photos. So far I managed to make one of 2002. Only 7 more years to make, but I never seem to get round to doing it. Other computer stuff is much more interesting

headless Glad to hear R is feeling better today. I kew that would happen. It always does

We had an interrupted night again and an early morning too: she woke at 5.45! We then went to m&t group, I took her in the sling convinced she would fall asleep on the way, but no. In the end I left there early, becasue she was shattered and by 10.45 still awake . She fell asleep almost as soon as I'd left the building. And has only just woken up. As for my leg. Today I had a sudden sharp pain in my pelvis (same spot as my spd pain) I completely seized up for a min, same side as my leg, so I think something is going on there. I might need to go and find a local osteopath again.

Right. Gotta go. C's not happy here on my lap.

llareggub · 17/11/2009 12:42

Afternoon!

It is a beautiful day here and we've been out for a nice walk. Back to the housework now!

Interesting about the eyesight suggestion, because that might effect balance too, right?

Hello running sorry to hear you are feeling down. Do you think it might be the weather?

Dandy I knew it was you, as well. I'm not sure I like the name toolbox as much as Dandy.

Headless I'm glad R is feeling better. I feel so helpless when my boys are ill.

Photobooks we've done all sorts as presents for grandparents. We've done calendars, books, big pictures, montages, DVDs etc because my family live away from us so it is a way of updating them. We have just one album of photos because I never get around to doing them myself. We can print canvases now so I might do a few for the house when I can decide on what photo to use.

Sleep I'm getting some! The last 2 nights have been better and I really think it is connected with DS2 being constipated for a while, ebding with a poo explosion.

SpangleMaker · 17/11/2009 14:35

Dandy thought it was you. You don't really strike me as a 'toolbox' but I guess for that reason it's a good pseudonym.

Headless glad R is getting better.

Llare yay for good nights' sleep!

The eyesight suggestion is interesting. I think with older kids it tends to get picked up when school work is suffering - that was the case with my brother.

Running sorry you're feeling down. There are some days when it all seems like such hard work and as llare says the weather and the short days don't help. I also think there's a cumulative effect to sleep deprivation which leaves a general feeling of weariness.

Thanks everyone for the reassurances about H. TBH I don't normally compare, but I was caught out a bit on Monday as I'd seen this little girl every week and assumed she was about 10-11 months like most of the babies in that class. We (mums) each asked how old the babies were, and it was like 'Oh!'. I'm sure H will show an interest in sitting up at some point... I can't imagine he'll get to 5 and insist on lying on the floor. (I hope!)

We've had a nice morning with NCT mums & babies at a local kids place where you can do ceramic painting. We all made baubles with babies' hand prints on- had to have some help with that though!
