Posting and running. Just popping in to wish everyone a merry christmas.

Fingers crossed that all the little ones will be well enough to enjoy the big day.

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 24/12/2009 19:37

Oh and Neenz, the twins are very cute, and your kitchen is luvvvvverly!

BadQueenWenceslas · 24/12/2009 21:16

I'm about 5 minutes away from a glass of fizz, but just wanted to wish every one of you the happiest of Christmases! I hope everyone gets to where they are supposed to be, that all the toddlers (and parents too) are in good health, all the older dc's get what they hoped for from Santa, that all of you get a nice suprise in your stocking and that you all get through the next few days unscathed!

Looking forward to hearing all your festive stories and seeing a photo or two on fb x

mistletoeandwhinegums · 24/12/2009 21:24

Merry Christmas! My mum isn't here after all - DP got the car ready to go last night, but then was up all night with toothache and luckily got an emergency appointment with our dentist this morning. He's been in a bit of a state, added to which there was more snow in my mum's neck of the woods, so we gave up. Oh well.

We're ready for Santa - hope you all are too - have a lovely day tomorrow x

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 25/12/2009 20:56

Merry Christmas all! We've had a wonderful day and I'm off to bed. Both boys were well enough to enjoy themselves which was lovely and I'm looking forward to some quiet time now...

Sleighbellsandschnitzel · 25/12/2009 23:30

Had a lovely day here, the big hits of the day for Ethan were his new tea set, a lovely Playmobil farm, turkey and cranberry sauce! He wasn't so impressed with the new red ride on car - he shut it in his playpen where stefan and Tristan had locked themselves in to build lego!

Hope you all had a good day

Neenz - lovely video

SpiderWilliam · 26/12/2009 00:46

Brilliant day here. All GPs made it safely. P could not have been happier today. He LOVES his new kitchen. He also learnt to chink glasses with everyone when we say "cheers". Worried thar we must be drinking too much. Night all.

PuddingPenguin · 26/12/2009 02:06

Sounds like everyone had a good xmas - great FB photos too. Lovely sunny day here - the paddling pool was by far the best present. Ry wouldn't get out!

I came down with the same gastro bug the boys have had last night....up all night being sick. Oh well, at least the Xmas overeating won't show on the scales. [hmmm]

Just cut Ry's hair for the first time ever, I got ridiculousy sad about it. But he was in danger of looking like a member of status quo with his mullet curling into his collar.

Off to BIL&SILs parent beach house tomorrow, and they've been given a boat for the holiday, a 14 footer!!! Hmmm, chasing after a toddler on a boat, might not be a very relaxing holiday. Am v excited anyway. Don't know if I'll be online until the New Year, so wishing you all a Happy New Year now.

BadQueenWenceslas · 26/12/2009 12:21

Hope the boat holiday makes up for the gastric bug PP!

Had a lovely day here although S was a bit out of sorts. Possibly just all the excitement, but his cheeks were scarlett, he had hardly any sleep on Chrismas Eve and he's got 4 canines coming through as well as a cold so I suspect he just wasn't feeling brilliant. One of his ears was really red yesterday but seems fine today.

S was delighted with his garage though so that was the main thing! The other favourites were the various mini board books that he got and the peter kay children in need VAT.

Hope everyone is having a good boxing day!

hollybrainfestivepants · 26/12/2009 20:19

Hi guys, hope you all had a lovely Christmas - we had a great day yesterday just the four of us, but MIL and co turned up today and it's been shite which just strenghtened my resolve to keep xmas for the four of us in future!

She snatched M out of my arms - just as she used to do with A and I still got taken by surprise and couldn't think of anything to say or do. I just feel powerless while she undermines my parenting at every turn .

I had asked MIL to get a garage for A too BQW but she decided to get the whizz down mountain instead - A seems bored of it already! Ho hum. She knows best obviously .

Right off to see if we've got a knife in the kitchen sharp enough to cut the atmosphere in here!

Sleighbellsandschnitzel · 26/12/2009 22:16

Sponge - sorry to hear that today's been rubbish compared with your lovely Christmas Day. Is she just staying for the day?

BDQ - hope S picks up soon, Ethan has been sleeping really badly too.

Penguin - Have a great holiday

Spider, Ethan loves his pots and pans too, we keep finding cups and saucers everywhere!

Have spent Boxing Day cleaning as we had 12 out and 11 in, glad it's over for another week!

Anyone watched anything decent on TV over Christmas? Just endured Victoria Woods mid life Christmas - it was awful

mistletoeandwhinegums · 27/12/2009 09:03

We had a lovely Christmas day, just a bit sad my mum wasn't here too. I'm supposed to be going down today to stay for a few days, but it's bloody snowing AGAIN! Sick sick sick of it now. I don't mind driving in the snow, but after the other day when a couple of accidents blocked the road for ages, and it took us 2 hours to get home from nursery, I'm not so sure. Gah!!!!

SpiderWilliam · 27/12/2009 11:31

Hello. GPs have now all gone. Partly relieved and partly sad. It is very quiet all of a sudden. Poor DH has an eye infection in both eyes, so he has gone to Boots to see if he can get something for it. I have it too, but just slightly itchy as opposed to red puffy and gunky. Why do men always get iller than women?

Sponge - sorry your MIL is being so horrid. MIL got P the whizz down mountain too. I wouldn't have chosen it, but to be fair, P is quite keen on it and is putting everything on it and watching them slide down. I think some extra construction trucks came free if you bought the mountain. Maybe that's why your MIL got it?

BDQ - sorry to hear about all your snow. Hope you get the thaw soon.

Deb - impressed by your cleaning marathon. Hope you get some relaxing time soon.

ktmincepie · 27/12/2009 15:52

Just a quick hello. Hope everyone enjoyed their Christmases, we had a good time.
We haven't seen family yet, the ILs are coming over tomorrow then we are going to stay with my Mum for a few days.

I need to go, I have an hour to have a nap in before some friends come round!

neenz · 27/12/2009 16:22

Christmas was pretty good here, we went to church at 11 and then to PILs and stayed the night which I was glad of, couldn't be bothered packing everything up.

I feel dreadful with MS tho, thankfully no vomiting but I feel terrible , like constantly hungover. I have a cold too which is not helping. It is getting worse by the day as well . I have all my family coming tomorrow and the boiler has broken so no central heating and no hot water!

Everyone is bringing food and stuff tomorrow so I haven't much to to do, can't be arsed cleaning so they will just have to make do. And we have a coal fire and an electric radiator so at least two rooms will be warm!

The toy kitchen is a big success. MIL put it mostly together christmas eve so the DTs could play with it straight away on Christmas day which was great.

Sponge, your MIL . It serves her right that you don't want to involve her on Christmas day. You should keep it just for the four of you, glad you had a great day.

Whinegums, sorry your plans went so horribly wrong, I think it is the worst snow for a long long time.

Glad everyone else had a good 'un!

hollybrainfestivepants · 27/12/2009 17:59

Neenz, sorry to hear about your heating, etc.

Spider, P will have to give A some enthusiasm for his new toy next time you visit!

Well, things went from bad to worse this morning with the PILs - had a huge row, dh tld them a few home truths and now they are hardly talking to me. She, of course, turned on the waterworks and tried to make out she had no idea she was interfering. Manipulative cow - she knew exactly what she was doing.

Roll on tomorrow lunch time when they leave .

sybiltherednosedreindeer · 27/12/2009 19:31

God Sponge, what a nightmare. Well done to your dh for sticking up for you and telling his parents whats what though.

Neenz, hoping you see a big strapping plumber soon. MS is crappy, but a very good sign. Just eat lots of cheese and gingernut biscuits. Its the only thing that worked for me.

We has a lovely christmas. J's favoutie toy seems to be the cymbals I bought him. Which ironically are also the cheapest thing he was given. C'est la vie...

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 27/12/2009 21:01

sponge we've been there - things are so much better a few years down the line now that the air is clear. My in-laws leave tomorrow and honestly it's been way better than I'd expected. wish I had a bigger house though...

neenz fingers crossed for heat soon, and that the morning sickness is bearable.

SpiderWilliam · 28/12/2009 06:24

Sponge- sorry that you have had such an unpleasant time with the ILs.

Neenz - yes, I remember MS as being akin to a permanent hangover too. I had to graze constantly to keep it at bay.

Waves to everyone else.

hollybrainfestivepants · 28/12/2009 12:03

Thanks guys.

AH, that's interesting - we're hoping that now we've stood up for ourselves things will eventually be better but I think we're in for an awkward few months . Dh said to me after they left this morning that he felt so much better for having aired his grievances - he said he had a dream last night where he said to his mum, "don't make me choose"!!

Bless him .

I just soooo hope that my boys never feel about me the way dh feels about his mum right now though .

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 28/12/2009 13:21

eek! the dress DH ordered me for my birthday is now on sale for £42 less than we paid a week ago (which is half the price). We've now reordered it on my account instead of DH's and will return the first one but i'm feeling so guilty. Still, it's not even my birthday yet (wed) and £42 is a huge discount. Am I a horrible person for doing this or is this okay? Plus the toilet broke this morning. We've called the plumber but since it's a holiday we've not heard back yet but I imagine a new toilet (this one is so old it's hardly worth fixing, plus it's not white) will end up costing £200 installed.

Amberc · 28/12/2009 20:54

Blimey Sponge - what a nightmare - you really don't need all that bollox do you? I hope everything calms down for you.

PP - your CHristmas sounds amazing! I'm coming next year!!!

Aberdeen - Great idea re the dress. Everyone does it I'm sure. We bought a dyson vaccuum cleaner a couple of months ago and goddammit it's half price now! Would do the same thing if it was new and tempted to break the thing to get the money back and rebuy it!!

I hope everyone had the best Christmas they could. We had a lovely day with Luke. His best pressie was a blow up Thomas the tank engine from his Auntie which is enormous and sitting in the middle of the living room. Both he and I can get in it at the sane time to give you an idea on size . Still, he loves it and gets very excited pointing and jumping and saying 'train train'!

We went to see our kittens today who are now 7 weeks old. Jeez they are cute. Luke went mental at first but then got very upset. I think it was because he wasn't the centre of attention for a change! Also the kits are so small and delicate that he wasn't really allowed too close. I think he thought they were toys and he wasn't allowed to play with them. Ho hum. Feck knows what will happen when I get them home (6 Feb - how exciting!!). Will put some photies up on FB at sonme point.

Hi to everyone else - I am KNACKERED!!!

Amberc · 28/12/2009 21:48

FB - Put up kitten pics and funny vids of Luke dancing bless him!

SantaClausIsComingToGlasvegas · 28/12/2009 23:22

just a quick hello, will post properly tomorrow probably. We had a lovely Christmas and had safe though wintery journeys. Back home now, and v glad we left on the heating while we were away!

will catch up soon...

abdnhikinginawinterwonderland · 29/12/2009 11:00

Very cold here too - too cold to take both boys out for a walk unfortunately. It looks so lovely out but DS1 keeps complaining that he's cold and I really can't put any more
layers on him.m
