VG - they won't swab up here anymore, same advice for sf as all othr flus - stay in, pain relief to be taken, rest up and lots of liquids

poppysocks · 16/11/2009 16:45

So glad all is good in the world of VG. Can you bottle and sell that feeling?? If so, Ill have a trunkload at whatever cost .

So pleased things went well for you today oops and that you managed to leave the house today dizzy (albeit knackering you).

Really sorry to hear about your rough night no1 - exactly what you don't need right now. And poor J cyteen.

Not feeling any worse so taking that as a plus . Trying to be positive. My girls are great, my husband is great (albeit stressed), there are a lot of things that we don't have to worry about that make life harder for a lot of other people. We have a nice life. I don't have a career because I always knew that having children was more important to me and we're lucky that we can afford for me to work part-time and that my employer pays me well to turn up, pretty much do my own thing and disappear whenever I need to because the nursery is crap. You're right, snot I have to stop feeling that the grass is always greener. We took a decision to raise our family here, based on things that are important to us. The shame is that being near to my family didn't make it on to DH's side of the list. Oh well, my Mum will be here in 20 hours. And I'm counting.

dizzydixies · 16/11/2009 17:13

poppy - glad she's almost there, hope you have a lovely visit

have sent apologies for meeting I should've been at tonight and asked the CM to take the girls tomorrow

if I can just manage to sleep tonight it would make things so much better

poppysocks · 16/11/2009 17:22

Don't be dizzy. Do what you need to do to get back on your feet properly. This is a long-haul this parenting malarky...

PoinsettiaBouquets · 16/11/2009 17:52

Just to flip the coin from Poppy's lovely post, I'll be an ungrateful cow and moan about my dad who is fitting my kitchen for free. Have just stopped him in the nick of time from trying to do something so flippin autistic with a cupboard door that completely disregards the whole concept of aesthetics. He had explained his plan to me and I said let me google this ikea cupboard problem as I'm sure there's no need to reinvent the wheel in quite such an extreme way. He then muttered DH's far more sensible idea which I pounced on and he is now quietly annoyed because he'd had his heart set on his loony idea (which probably would have been more work anyway). I just don't want him experimenting on my kitchen units!
I am so getting deja vue here, I'm sure something similar must have happened on another project. Grrr!

Off out for rare drink with v old school friend later, much anticipated.

alittlebitshy · 16/11/2009 18:39

vg so glad ds1 was so excited, and am hoping he cmoes out all happy

poppy am glad you feel a bit more positive. I know how easy it is to think the grass is greener. there was a v v small possibility we might have moved, and when it didn't happen I felt all flumpy about it even though I love where we are, mostly, and it should have dh feeling rubbish as it would have been his job move etc etc.

oops yay for hector!! .

dizzy glad you are slowly on the mend
have had a lovely day out. dh gave me his day off iyswim and has done both school runs (i had lie in this morn) and had ds all day. I pootled round john lewis, played on the new oxford circus crossing, went to the cinema (saw "an education" which was a really nice film. gentle, nice and, well, nice ), had lunch, coffee and now at work. Know i will feel blue on the way home as i always do after a day off.

QueenofDreams · 16/11/2009 19:27

Ah vg that is cute it's good that Ds1 was so excited about it though.
oops excellent news. Go hector!
poppy I can't really advise with the location thing. I'm not bothered about being close to my family really. it's better if we have some distance between us really. I don't particularly like where we are I'll admit.
dizzy don't about cancelling the meeting. I'm sure the others don't want a lovely dose of flu tbh. Get some rest. It's horrible when you're ill and can't get sleep. It makes you feel ten times worse.

DS been in bed about 10 minutes now. All quiet upstairs. I think he's really taken to this 'sleep cue' business. As soon as he gets out the bath now he turns into a complete grumpy, stroppy little so-and-so I have to fight the strop to get him dried, teeth brushed (very hard work that one) dressed etc.

QueenofDreams · 16/11/2009 20:23

Argh howlathon going on upstairs.

New Hector piccie on profile - I am totally exhausted and last night's almost unbroken sleep made me feel worse. I am going to have to nap tomorrow!

Poppy - (HUGS)

Dizzy - back to bed please No jaunting around the world with Sazzles!

QOD - you are doing amazingly with Seb, he was obviously waiting for you to take charge. DD has gone down without a fuss for the first time since she started to get better.

Well that was good, and it really shows something has 'clicked'. He went straight back down after his nappy change/booby.
Anyway, back off again for dinner

dizzydixies · 16/11/2009 22:02

great well done Ann

snotexpectingsnow · 17/11/2009 03:21

Ooops aww how lovely. So pleased all went well.

VG did you get one happy smiley boy back at 4.30? Hope the good mood lasts!

Ann - bet you're now wishing you'd started weeks ago

TS aargh for the lost posts - my Dad has somehow messed up the internet connection on our desktop and our Mac since they've been staying with us so if I post from home I have to resort to our clapped out old VAIO which is very slow. Will have to try and sort out the others soon.

I think DS is starting to experience the side effects from last week's MMR jab. He was incredibly clingy yesterday afternoon (even more so than usual) and didn't want to eat his dinner. He woke up at 4am this morning with a bit of a temperature. He went back to sleep at 5am on me but wouldn't settle in the cot till about 5.30 then woke up again at 6am when luckily DH got up with him for an hour till I had to get up and get ready for work. Tis Mum and Dad's last day here today (a bit of a shame DS is so out of sorts). Will be sad to see them go and it has been good to have some extra lie-ins and me time (Poppy - hoping you get a break too) but will also be nice to have house and DS back to ourselves! There are also some things that Mum has been doing/saying to DS that irritate me immensely but I don't feel I can say anything as they don't get to see him very much and in the big scheme of things are not all that important.

dizzydixies · 17/11/2009 09:29

anyone have any ideas what to do with a pheasant (I think) thats standing staring at me though the patio doors?!?

steaknife · 17/11/2009 09:45
