queen of dreams...hmm give me a clue

hotterpotter · 14/11/2009 09:03

LOL Sambo . A mixture of evil corporate American coke plus ultra-hippy mung beans, what a confusing toy! As for DS eating meat, if you think it would be good for him then why the heck not??? I know my SIL felt guilty feeding her DS meat after about 7 years of bringing him up veggie, but as they were trying him on a dairy-free diet it just didn't fair to her to make him be a vegan. Chickens, fish, and even baby lambs are all lovely but not as lovely as our DSes

Queenie sounds like the nights are going pretty well from such a shit start then once DS willy is feeling better you can work on stage 2

Hi Miamla sorry didn't realise I had cross-posted with you before.

Better go, DS emptying my purse...

QueenofDreams · 14/11/2009 09:21

Sorry sambo it's AnnVan

If you think giving ds lamb would help - give it a try. 1)it might not be the case, and he can go back to being veggie 2) I can't remember what my second point was so will shut up now.

sambo303 · 14/11/2009 09:35

hi ann are you
a still a lady of leisure
b pg?

cyteen · 14/11/2009 09:54

sambo hellooooo! We've missed you, I've often wondered how you're all getting on. What a bummer about DS's eczema though.

Arse, I hear moaning from above, and just as I was about to update you all on our non-relaxing break Journey down was awful, it took 5 hours instead of the usual 2.5 due to shit drivers bad weather accidents and the like, plus a mysterious shortage of diesel at all the fuel stations in Leicester. DS yelled for most of those 5 hours, he is full of cold.

poppysocks · 14/11/2009 10:05

Hellllloooooo sambo. Lovely to see you. . So sorry to hear about DS's skin. We had about 15 months of excema hell with DD1, which coincided nicely with the super hot and sweaty summer of 2006. We also found that the only thing that made any real difference was the steroids, but that once the course finished it would all come back in a few days (same for me actually). However.... DD1's skin is manageable now. It's not perfect and is still hyper sensitive but it's not the constant pain and scratching of excema. I suspect she'll always have sensitive skin and still picks up any soreness/infection going (eg. wind-chapped face is a big one on the windy east coast of Scotland!). It isn't anything like as bad as it was though and it just sort of cleared up on its own when we got into the grotty summer of 2007. Like me, she still has a flair up when the central heating first goes on in the autumn but it's all manageable now. Hope you get there soon with F.

QueenofDreams · 14/11/2009 10:22

sambo lol at 'lady of leisure' yep I'm still SAHM at the moment. Although I am jobhunting. No luck so far, but hey ho, I keep on trying anyway
cyteen urgh - journey sounds awful And poor J full of cold. It really is a horrible season. EVERYONE seems to be ill atm.

cyteen · 14/11/2009 10:30

I know, there is so much grot on this thread alone (not literally). Poor S's willy, really hope that clears up soon.

Last night was quite broken, unusually - DS up screaming several times, wanting cuddles and comfort - eventually he came in with us and was super-cuddly. Poor thing, he is obviously knackered because his cough and cold are making it hard to settle. It was lovely to have him in with us, but quite tiring.

QueenofDreams · 14/11/2009 10:43

It really does throw the sleep out totally when they're ill doesn't it? We had a run of good sleep, then illness and that was it we never got it back (although obviously, this is changing as of the last few days )
Friend posted a video on FB of a case in America similar to the whole Baby P thing. Poor baby. But child abuse is an issue very close to this lady's heart because her niece was abused, so she's always posting things like that. In some ways it gets a bit too much iykwim?

alittlebitshy · 14/11/2009 10:53

Hello all.

sambo! Lovely to see you. Sorry to hear F is still suffering but v glad you have found a good dr who is finding ways to manage it.

queenie sounds good even though the soreness made for some disturbance.

cyteen ugh re traffic. Did you have to miss your pub trip as a result?

Another good night here. I dare not think this is is as we have had as much as 2 months of solid good nights before, but it is lovely while it lasts.

Dh out all day with car at boring church thing so after a tescos brekker me and the dc are snuggled down at home. Living room starting to resemble a tip, but ds is having fun. Mainly with ddls brolly, her doll's pram, the toy hoover....

SazZaVoom · 14/11/2009 13:09

Afternoon

Good night here DD2 slept through till 6.30, DD1 till 7.05 (with a dry nappy). Albs like you, i am not wanting to say this is it as we could easily go back to the crap we have had the last couple of months

sambo lovely to see you back again , although about F's eczema. DD1's was cleared up with stronger steroids - my dermatologist said they prefer to hit them with strong steroids for 48hrs rather than longer courses of low level ones. However i think this is because hers is on her face and they worry about skin thinning on there. She did say some children use low level steroids for 6 months through the winter and then come off for the summer. Also much infant eczema clears by 2 so hopefully it will only be one winter for you (not that that is much consolation when you are going through it )

queenie how brill that Seb slept from 7.30. Just take that in - 7.30 would have been unfathomable this time last week, so well done you. Hope the AB's kick in before bedtime so you can all have a sound night's sleep

cyteen friday traffic is horrific - we took 6.5hrs to the Lakes which should have taken 4. Rubbish . Did you manage to get your evening out? Hope you are having a more relaxing time now

Dizzy are you over the worst of teh fever yet? Similarly how are minioops and petitpoppy today? Hopefully all on the path to recovery

Swimming with DD's this morning (could have just gone out into the garden and replicated it quite well ) and i'm taking DD1 to a 3rd birthday party this afternoon. Happy Saturday to you all

dizzydixies · 14/11/2009 13:30

bleurgh

SazZaVoom · 14/11/2009 13:49

From under full protective bodysuit, you understand

dizzydixies · 14/11/2009 13:58

wouldn't expect anything less!

not even the baby names threads are cheering me up today

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 14/11/2009 14:08

Men...

dizzydixies · 14/11/2009 14:13

oh dear No1, whats happened?

PoinsettiaBouquets · 14/11/2009 14:17

Sambo! Wotcha

Another night of non-stop yodelling again and at 6am he just wouldn't settle so I took him downstairs for a bottle and play while I dozed on the sofa. What is up with this boy? Am at a loss.

On the plus side, I took the kids to a fab special needs school where they have family fun session on Saturday. Was so much fun, cost £9 for all 3 but that's no more than big busy playzones, just so much nicer. Kurt managed to stay awake til after lunch when I just dumped him int he cot and ran downstairs! I think every school should have a multi-sensory room and a softplay room.
Trying to convince best friend to come, she is v wishywashy about her son's Special Needs, he does p/t private hippy school and p/t home ed so nobody is really facing up to his issues with real life. He is a v coccooned PFB and I guess different things might work for different kids but she has seen the miraculous changes in my DS1 thanks to early intervention and 'programming' (ie 1:1 at mainstream pre-school for 1 year) so it's starting to annoy me a bit. All that 'waiting and seeing' and letting him 'choose his own learning opportunity' etc seems like a big waste of time and that he will still 'choosing' to lie on the floor lining up his toy cars all day in Y5. Will take my Judge Judgington wig off now.

poppysocks · 14/11/2009 14:26

Oh dear no1. What's up?

Poor you dizzy. Was going to text you earlier and was then scared of disturbing you in case you were sleeping. So sorry you're not....

DD2 seems ok today thanks sazzles. Much the same as yesterday really - spectacular snot bubbles but pootling around perfectly happily - well not right now as in the land of nod at present.

Meant to add earlier about plans for 28th that I may be throwing a spanner in the works but I'll need to get back to SW London afterwards and I think most of you are E/NEish. Buckets will you be going back via Waterloo afterwards?

RedLentil · 14/11/2009 14:30

Similar situation here buckets with the friend I spoke to last year. She does remember our chat and has kind of taken it on board, but merrily ticked the 'no social problems' box on the school nurse form.

Meanwhile her ds is being baited at school by another child with problems, and when I pick him up I have to coax him in to the car after he's finished the five-minute 'staring at the school' ritual he has developed.

Makes me mad because intervention would give him fantastic chances ... He is academically excellent and a lovely boy.

No1 - what has dh done, or failed to do? Is your birthday night still happening.

Tissues for dizzy and a

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 14/11/2009 14:36

buckets My dsis has been going to a school every Saturday morning with her ds to take part in activities too. He is loving it and she said it is fantastic.

sambo lovely to have you back, pleased to hear ds treatment working so far. I agree re is health being more important than being veggie atm. I only lasted about 7/8 years as a veggie so hardly one to comment really

dh pissing me off a little this am. He was on nightshift last night so I get up early after a shite night with ds screaming blue murder from 2 am till 4.30am
So I get us all up ready to get out of dh way so he can sleep.(I knew he would be knackered as he didnt get any sleep before going to work yesterday.

Does he go to bed???
No. ok so he is helping me by doing my car as head light went. Long story but was a bit of a nightmare and something broke.
Also shower pull thing broke so needeed new connector. All these things could have waited though.

I told him I would be back in a few hour as was not taking two poorly kids anywhere else after the farm as that was enough.
Am I being U to think he should have gone to bed and at least tried to sleep?

So as soon as he does go to bed at about 12.30 his dad turns up with dog, so couldnt put Ds to bed. Obviously they were excited and noisy happy to see him.

dh gets up as soon as fil leaves and says bloody ridiculous, noise down here etc...

I have told him I will not be going out tonight as he loks like shite cos he is tired and told him to get back to bed.

So he has gone back to bed,but has to be at the police station for 3 to sign in.

NOT MY FAULT!

sorry rant over

bet you wish I had not come back.

dizzydixies · 14/11/2009 14:50

agree completely, silly arse, when on nights take the sleep where you can get it - esp in house with kids etc

why does he have to sign in?

no1putsbabyinthecorner · 14/11/2009 15:01

A long and stressful story dizzy
To cut it short he got done for section 5. Banned from any football stadium for 5 years. has 1 year left. So England play tonight and he has to sign in every time they play so they know he has not left the country.
Cant really say much on public forum iykwim.
prob said too much already.

dizzydixies · 14/11/2009 15:05

sorry, I should have known better than to ask - I was aiming to let you know they could be flexible with his timing if he had mitigating circumstances e.g nightshift, apologies again for being a complete idiot

luckoftheirish · 14/11/2009 15:09

hugs no1...

dizzy you should be in bed!!! ..

hope all poorly babes are feeling better...

managed to get my two out of the house for an hour where dd2 winged the whole time ..

dd1 tried to get in my bed last stood firm ad took her back to hers.. came back to mine 2hrs later .. then dd1 moaned form dummy but made dh get up to her ...

hotterpotter · 14/11/2009 15:10

Aaaaaaarrrrgggghhhhhhhh anyone want a little boy, free to a good any home????

DS has spent the day moving his wheelybug or, failing that, dining chairs or high chairs to reach up and get stuff he shouldn't have . Every time I look round he is up on the mantelpiece, messing with light switches, trying to pull the telly down etc etc etc. He's doing it again now, moving the chair across the living room floor so he can pull all the photos of the mantelpiece. I haven't got anywhere I can put the chairs so they are out of his reach, oh crap.

We were remembering DD at Christmas the other day, how she was entranced by the tree but barely touched it, even as a pesky toddler. DS on the other hand will be climbing it...

No1 sorry to hear your birthday outing is off, and also another to your DH for not grabbing sleep at the first available opportunity
