Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
SazZaVoom · 13/11/2009 08:22

Oh no, poor minioops and minisurfer

I can only second the doc on the alternating paracetamol/ibuprofen every 2hrs after DD1 had similar 2 years ago at 13 months, on New Years Eve, in France .
I think i would wake the IL's. FFs if they can't help out when their grandchild is in true need then that's pretty useless

TS - breathing problems are nasty. GIve her a big cuddle from us and hope she (and you) manage to get some sleep

miamla · 13/11/2009 09:09

hmmm, did i read that Sazz let slip that TS is in fact a man??!! and she should know given that they've met!!

poor poorly babies. cuddles all round from me too

DP unsurprisingly has a stinking hangover this morning. i didn't give him any sympathy at all but i did make him tea and toast. DS stole the toast though so looks like he's feeling better at least! he's hardly eaten anything this week and his nappies have been close to being defined as nuclear waste!

steaky... your analysis of bouquets was hilarious and i absolutely agree with you!
sorry, no advice re shag or not to shag. sex with an ex is amazing fun at the time but... well just but.... you know

poppysocks · 13/11/2009 09:28

How is DD2 now TS? Hoping you've all had a more restful second half of night. Hope DD is doing better too oops. Seems like there's a fair bit of thread grot going on. We've managed to get an emergency appointment for DD2 this am after a night of an increasingly croupy cough, a slightly fevered wake-up and really crackly chest this morning. She seems fine in herself though but I'm rather paranoid after missing the signs last winter... On a lighter note, you should see the size of the snot bubbles she can blow from both nostrils simulataneously.

How did you get on last night ann? Thinking of you.

LOL at red devil TS.

QueenofDreams · 13/11/2009 09:47

Morning ladies
Sorry to hear aboutmore poorly abies
It really is the nasty season now.
I was going to take S to toddler gym but is grey and chucking it down and I don't have a brolly.
Or am I being a wuss?
not too bad a night. he woke at midnight, but I left him and he soon settled. He woke up again later, and I ended up bringing him in with me. Think he's so used to only slepping a certain length of time each night he thought it was time to get up. So he came in with us at 4.30 but it took a while for him to actually go to sleep again. I overslept slightly this morning and got woken by S repeatedly headbutting me saying 'bubby''bubby'
I think he'd been awake a while as he was very hungry.

steaky I'd be one cautioning not to go there with the mansteak. Could make him expect a shag from you whenever he comes to visit without any commitment. (obviously it's your choice though)

cyteen · 13/11/2009 10:12

miamla you have my sympathies on the Hazmat nappies - J's have been just disgusting this week, and he's had scorching nappy rash too. We've had to actually crack open the sample tub of Sudocrem that comes with the Bounty pack

Lots and lots of Calpol, ice lollies and cuddles for all the poorly LOs (and warming gins for the tired mums).

steak well done on telling DH 'no'. I have a mental image of you smacking his nose with a rolled-up newspaper Not that I think you shouldn't shag him necessarily, but if you do it should be on your terms. As the one who decided to end your relationship, he has relinquished his droit de seigneur IMO.

QueenofDreams · 13/11/2009 10:16

Droit de seigneur - sorry cyteen am strongly resisting the urge to quote Pratchett now.

Seb's nappies have been pretty gross lately as well. I'm assuming it's teething related. THat is the cause of the nappy rash as well.

oopsandbabycoconut · 13/11/2009 10:27

blah - fever is back! I give up! She has just had a bath which I started at just below her fever temp and then let it cool around her but she just lay floppily in it Now she is just flopped on me. I think I will be here all day.

SazZaVoom · 13/11/2009 10:44

oops i like a good flop after a bath . Embrace your day of cuddles/reading/tv/whatever, relax and enjoy

QueenofDreams · 13/11/2009 10:50

oops poor baby, she really sounds so poorly. Don't have anything constructive to add, but you have my sympathy.

ts has R seen a doc for her croup? S was given a steriod to reduce the swelling in his airways when he had it.
He's not a very happy baby either this morning. Or at least he wasn't till he got hold of the wipes. Now he's contented, pulling them all out the pack.

luckoftheirish · 13/11/2009 11:11

oooh what a lot of poorly babies.. big mummy cuddles all day me thinks and big glasses of wine for the mummies.. except u ooops.. vitual wine?? xx

my two seem finally to be on the mend fingers crossed.. having massive issues with dd1.. she is 4 now and still won't let me out of her sight.. gets into my bed every night and when i as why she says "i miss you mummy" ..

dizzy t is a bit of a biter too tho only to mummy .. keeping a close look out tho..

well done queenie.. stand firm.. was thinking of you last night when t screamed for an hour as she didn't want to go to bed.. let daddy deal with it tho ..

ladies can i just say a massive thank you for listen to all my ranting ad moaning with dh.. took all of your advice and whilst things aren't brilliant a damn site better.. gold stars for everyone xxx

PoinsettiaBouquets · 13/11/2009 11:48

Actually I'm going to disagree with TS and say that Steaky shouldn't shag Mansteak. Ordinarily, I would be in the 'wahaaaay' camp but I do think it's just too soon, it would be so easy for her to get lost in fantasy and he's not yet emotionally skilled enough not to break her heart all over again. Go with the rolled up newspaper and pounce on him next visit (esp if he has a girlfriend by then). Sorry to use you like a soap opera Steaky. LOTI Glad things are looking more positive for you. Things are so much easier to deal with when you're working more as a team aren't they?

Oops Stay strong but do ask the ILs for help.

I had night from hell and still haven't worked out why. Kurt yodelled all night from 10.30pm. I changed his nappy, gave him calpol, a biscuit, some water, co-slept while he wrestled and headbutted but it just went on and on. DH moved into the spare room lucky thing, and I should really be napping now but am just too hungry so am waiting for lunchtime. There'd better be Tooth#6 appearing in the next 48hrs.

28th - I suggest a night in and takeaway as it will be cheaper and we can all get brave and Skype people together. I should think the official MN meetup is all organised by now anyway, would be hectic and noisy.

cyteen · 13/11/2009 12:03

That's so good to hear loti, give yourself a big vodka pat on the back for tackling the situation.

cyteen · 13/11/2009 12:07

We're off to the PIL shortly for a weekend of centrally heated comfort We were hoping they'd be able to sit for us tomorrow night so we could go out dancing with all our friends, but they have got a prior engagement Bloody gadabouts . So DP will be out dancing with all our friends while I sit on the sofa drinking wine and feeling faintly put out.

I love my ILs though, and their spacious comfy house so it's hardly a hardship. And we're hopefully going to the pub tonight for a few while they watch DS.

poppysocks · 13/11/2009 13:12

Have a lovely cosy, warm weekend cyteen.

Bad news here... E has bronchilitis again. Dr seems to think she's managing it ok on her own but will have to head to hospital if no improvement by Monday morning. I knew she wasn't well (see previous posts) but despite being what I though was more on the ball after missing it last time, I have done again. She's fine in herself and doesn't have a fever but just sounds as though she smokes 60 a day. Feeling like a shit mother yet again.

poppysocks · 13/11/2009 13:14

Glad you had a decent night ann and things are improved loti - the longest journey starting with a single step and all that.

Sorry to hear about your rubbish night buckets. Like your idea fo 28th though.

oopsandbabycoconut · 13/11/2009 13:39

Poppy - don't be hard on yourself. I often miss that I have bronchitis, things go from snotty coldy rattle to bronchitis in hours. HUgs to you all.

Queenie - your night sounds better - we have a rulethat says no DD in our bed before 5am although this often means I spend 20mins in her room cuddling/singing before we move into our room at 5. Then I get kicked, prodded and moaned at from both sides

DD slightly better for a nap and more calpol. I have just fed her a yogurt and she ate most of it. Nice and cold on her throat I think. Doc defo things SF I am not sure But if it is then at least it's out of the way.

My mum is coming to the rescuse and will be here asap after she collects my sister from school. I need to shop for the cafe tomorrow and was going to bake but have arranged for someone else to do it for me I would hate to contaminate anything.

LOTI - thrilled things are on the up both illness and DH wise.

QueenofDreams · 13/11/2009 15:12

Yeah I felt the night went ok. i didn't mind too much having him in our bed at 4.30, as my current objective is to get him sleeping from a decent time at night, and get a routine in place.
Once I feel that we've cracked these ones, I'll move on to other issues. Probably the bf at night, and then the sleeping in our bed. Just feel it's better to tackle one thing at a time.
Going to take S to the Docs, as this sore on his willy is really bad, now I'm worrying if it's infected, or if it's thrush or something. It's really bothering him so don't want to leave it till after the weekend. He currently has no nappy on. I will pop one on directly before we leave.

QueenofDreams · 13/11/2009 15:13

Oh Poppy Sorry to hear that your lo is ill as well We completely missed the bronchialitis when S had it as well. You are not a bad mummy.

dizzydixies · 13/11/2009 16:45

poppy - don't be feeling that way at all, its easy to miss and very quick to come on - hope she's feeling better soon and if it helps at all she'll grow out of it soon

suspectd swine flu here I haven't been this ill in a long long time and only managed to get up today at 4pm - thankfully DD1 was with her friend following sleep over and DD2 & D at the CM - won't begin to describe how I've been feeling as horrid doesn't cover it

oopsandbabycoconut · 13/11/2009 16:47

Oh Dizzy - I wish I was close enough to whisk in and do the girls dinner.bath/bed and leave to to recover.

dizzydixies · 13/11/2009 16:54

thanks oops - DH is hear and dealing

how is P?

miamla · 13/11/2009 17:00

DS is asleep now not sure if its a very late nap or he's gone to bed early. he's had an awful stomach, high temp and hardly slept all week so i figured nap/sleep now could only do him good. probably means that he'll be awake til midnight given that i'm breaking my own rules but the poor little thing just couldn't stay awake any longer

what is happening with all these bugs going round? i phoned nhs direct earlier and the nurse said it was the time of year for it

dizz rest as much as you can, SF is no fun at all, you poor thing

oops and poor little P as well, I blame it all on that crazy scottish woman we all know

dizzydixies · 13/11/2009 17:05
miamla · 13/11/2009 17:21

Dizz!!! stop cleaning and go and rest!!!

alittlebitshy · 13/11/2009 17:25

dizz poor you hugs.
and poor little poppy too
poppysocks sory to hear about E too.

so much poorliness on one thread

Poor T too miamla. poor mite. he must be tired cos he normally naps late morning doesn't he? i'd know H was ill if he popped an extra nap in there alongside his normal one. Whatever it is, nap or bed, good job as sleep can only be good is dp around? do you need anything?
