do it, go and pour yourself a glass of wine, turn the radio on low and peel the tatties

poppysocks · 11/11/2009 21:02

Yes, stay still ann. I leave my two alone entirely unless they are really bellowing as if to indicate that a limb is stuck between a bar, they've had a bad dream, they're ill, until after 7am. He will be fine.

Thank you dizzy. Hope L's lurgy clears up soon as M desperate for a get-together soon too. I was rather today at her memory when I revealed Shrek 3 for, what I thought, was a first showing today, for her to utterly dismissively say 'oh I've seen this at L's house'.

poppysocks · 11/11/2009 21:07

I second the wine and the radio queen. I have picked up some remarkable (and generally useless unless I start to be invited to dinner parties) info by concentrating on that rather than my bellowing child at odd hours. It is all worth it in the long-run. He will be fine. And repeat.

QueenofDreams · 11/11/2009 21:08

oh dear, hearing noises
yup he's now wailing up there.
So...
Go in, calm down, put down leave room again then stuff fingers in ears and put pillow over my head.

dizzydixies · 11/11/2009 21:11

we saw an advert for Shrek the Musical when we were in NY - tis the only reason would consider a 7hr plane trip with L!!!

both my older girls had their hair cut today and DD1 insisted on a bob just below her ear - her best friend has one - only problem is that her best friend has hair as straight as a ruler and DD1 has my wirey/pubic/mental effort - has taken years off her DD2 also sat well but just to get the ends off as she has quite fine hair which has a mind of its own this lot are going to cost me a small fortune in straighteners and highlights before they hit their 20s [meep]

CaptainCaveman · 11/11/2009 21:12

heya! Ann I hope S soon quietens down again.

Hope all are well? Welcome home dizzy

Been a tough old day at work, presenting at a disciplinary hearing . All done now

CaptainCaveman · 11/11/2009 21:13

dizzy lets hope that straight hair has gone out of fashion again by that time!

CaptainCaveman · 11/11/2009 21:14

Is it just me or is mn R E A L L Y S L O W?

poppysocks · 11/11/2009 21:15

Personally, if you are worried about whether or not he's ok (ie that he needs water, has a limb stuck, has a missing dummy/essential teddy, has done a poo, is too hot/cold) then go in, check these things and deal with them as necessary but without interacting with him (lights on, chat, eye contact etc.) and then leave. If not, leave him.

QueenofDreams · 11/11/2009 21:15

dizzy I'm in the 'fine hair with a mind of its own' club too. One good reason to just keep it short.
DP going to be home any minute now.

QueenofDreams · 11/11/2009 21:16

ok. Seems to be going quiet again. now

dizzydixies · 11/11/2009 21:23

leave him then, if he was in pain/discomfort he'd soon tell you about it

mental check list in the Dixie household includes

is she clean/warm/fed/safe/comfy? if all ticked then sod it, she can shout but she's not getting back up and this check list applies to ALL £ and sometimes even DH!!!

CC lovely to see you, hope disciplinery hearing not too stressful

SazZaVoom · 11/11/2009 21:30

Sounds like you are doing brilliantly Queen, calm, firm & consistent will get you there. I promise

dizzy Bless DD1 and her haircut - i have NO idea what to do with DD1's (as you have seen . Her friend has a beautifully cute bob with fringe, but with DD1's triple crown and fluffy bits round her face, i fear this is a look she will not carry off well . As for DD2, i think she will follow your DD2

poppy sounds like you are more positive - i think if you can find a fab CM (and i know they are few and far between) this may be a godsend. GOod to hear BIL is battling on against his problems

We had a lovely afernoon, Mamma Mia watched twice , with a number of reruns of the 'slipper' (flipper) scene requested by the 3 year olds - very cute. We had a glass of wine and put the worlds to rights. Got home v late for the DD's and bless them they both went to bed brilliantly after being transported home in their pj's. dizz you will be glad to hear we didn;t put DD1 to sleep in a draughty porch

dizzydixies · 11/11/2009 21:37

are you implying that my porch is drafty?!?! we watched strictly tonight, DD1 and D danced whilst DD2 fell asleep on my lap and soaked me with dribble!

leave DD1's lovely hair alone until she starts asking for stuff - it was DD1's choice for new hair do, certainly not mine

mamma mia now on our Sky+ thanks to you lot

QueenofDreams · 11/11/2009 21:38

well still quiet here. MN has kept me calm (and sane) DP nearly back, and MIL just delivered a letter to us. Very confused, as I have no idea who that would be from

SazZaVoom · 11/11/2009 21:43

LOL, are all porches not draughty? . Unfortunately we are not posh enough to have a porch . I must add that you had a perfectly good bed for DD1 and she chose the porch

Glad to hear all quiet Queen, i truly hope it stays that way when DP comes home and you can have a nice evening together. If not, just repeat what you have done ad infinitum. Have you solved the riddle of the letter by opening it?

oopsandbabycoconut · 11/11/2009 21:48

Evening all

Queenie - well done for standing firm.

Tonight I have iced a cake, made 5 Christmas roses and made a royal icing flat picture of a choir boy. I was impressed with myself!

wotcha CC

pertelote · 11/11/2009 21:48

Hullo all, finally caught up! Welcome back Dizzy, your trip sounds really good despite drama and sickness - hope you are starting to feel better yourself and the girls give you a better night tonight...

VG hope your course continued as well as it began and you had fun! Come back this way soon...

QueenAnn good luck to you. Sounds like you are doing really well this evening but let me join my voice to those cheering you on.

Steak you're another superstar... hope things are no harder than they have to be.

Thinking of you all whether troubled by parents, in-laws, nurseries, unmentionables, or just MN playing up!

hotterpotter · 11/11/2009 21:49

250 posts in a week then 100 in a day...I guess Dizzy's back then

Has taken me so fecking long to catch up I have forgotten what I was going to say and anyway it's nearly bed time already, but mainly I have to say:

Well done so far Queenie and keep up the good work

dizzydixies · 11/11/2009 21:50

why on earth would she deliver a random letter Queenie? how odd

fingers crossed Seb excels on his first night flying solo

why did nobody tell me Spooks had started?! I know the lovely Rupert is no longer in it but at least Guy of Gisbourne scrubs up well

oopsandbabycoconut · 11/11/2009 21:53

DD wouldn't settle for DH again so he put her in the car and took her for a drive She is now sleeping soundly with the occasional whimper.

alittlebitshy · 11/11/2009 21:56

queenann (great name pert [). Well done. keep at it. You have my number i think so do text me if you need someone to shout at.

Just got back form a toddler group committee meeting. as i walked in dh sheepishly told me he's not done the work he intended to as I'm normally back loads later . So I am off up to bed with my book and tea so he CAN do the work. lol.

hotterpotter · 11/11/2009 21:57

LOL Oops my dad used to do that to me whan I was a baby As a consequence I can barely go 10 miles in a car without nodding off and -drooling--

dizzydixies · 11/11/2009 21:57
