Hello swampster

swampster · 10/01/2010 21:01

Hello Silvery - like it.

I'm still doing no housework.

hello all, we have a tooth! Finally! It started to emerge last night so we had a pretty crappy night, finally getting the little man down at around midnight. Absolutely shattered today but nanny is in for 4 hours this morning (bugger, one hour has almost gone) so was going to have a bit of a nap after I've prepared for my new sign language course that starts tomorrow.

SM and oooggs hope your OHs got home from work ok. I don't miss doing nights.

Looks like I'm going to have to start doing some housework as our houseboy (cleaner/ironer etc) is going on holiday on Thursday for THREE MONTHS! Apparently he is bringing in a replacement with him tomorrow to 'train' him but I won't hold my breath. I've heard so many horror stories about replacements that do more harm than good, ie shrinking clothes, scorching things whilst ironing etc.

SM hope you are feeling a bit better today

swampy welcome back.

Where is MS? Hope she is ok

dinkystinky · 11/01/2010 09:27

Congrats on the tooth MOS though commiserations on the housework/houseboy front.

We now have 5 1/2 teeth with another 3 apparently on their way - its neverbloodyending. Poor Danny is knackered, miserable and off his food - with a truly explosive bottom. Fingers crossed he will get a good rest from teething after all this.

SweetTalkinWoman · 11/01/2010 11:41

Ooh well done on the teeth everyone! Hope you are managing to catch up on some sleep? I feel a bit like that today after a night of dummy retrieval that is starting to become a bit trying....

SM how are you feeling now? Any improvement? Wise words about the first born/second born etc. Although Sam doesn't get any 1 to 1 attention (except in the middle of the night!) I think his life is a lot more exciting than Orlena's was at his age - we'd never even heard of Peppa Pig then!!!

SnowTulips how's it going with the Paypal thing? Hope you will be able to get your money back - quickly.

Not much else going on at the moment here - am dying to go out for a run or something so can't wait for the snow to disappear. We had another dusting last night.

Trying to take a couple of days off work next week and make a concerted effort into trying to find another job/direction.

Had some friends round for coffee and cake yesterday afternoon - one of them is american and had made an "Angel Food Cake" - one of the best cakes I've ever had - and it's fat free!!! Will look for a link later - am drooling at the thought of getting home and stuffing some more.....

SnowTulips · 11/01/2010 12:16

got two emails from paypal this morning claiming the money will be refunded and they're aware it's a fraudster. they've already removed the odd bank account from my account.

fingers crossed it'll all be sorted quickly... i've been ill and shaky since i found out yesterday.... it's one of those things you never think will happen to you isn't it? luckily they don't seem to have tried to use my credit card, just used my paypal to accept money from someone as part of a fraud and then shift the money quickly to a bank account. hopefully they've left enough of a paper trail that the bank can report them to the police and they'll be charged.

congrats on the tooth mos... hope he cheers up soon though.

kbn... you poor thing... hope the pox doesn't turn up, it's miserable weather for a lo to be sick.

STW... i've heard of angel food cake but never figured out what exactly it is... curious as to what's in it though. hope the days off work are productive and you figure out something that'll make you happier than your current job

mumoverseas · 11/01/2010 12:54

OMG Snowtulips I totally missed your post about paypal on the bottom of the last page. What a nightmare and how worrying. My credit and bank (switch) cards got cloned a few years ago after I stayed at a hotel in Naples and it was so stressful. I do hope it all gets sorted out quickly.

LittleMissNorty · 11/01/2010 16:57

Hello

As usual have lost touch with everything.

Hope you're feeling better SM. Looking after 2 little ones on your own all night and feeling crap is horrible

Glad you're back MOS but what a nightmare re your houseboy's holiday . My ironing is being collected tonight for the first time in a month and there is shitloads of it and will cost a fortune no doubt, but if someone told me I'd have to do it for 3 months......dosn't bear thinking about.

Snow starting to thaw now thank goodness so hoping to be able to get to Heathrow on Wednesday as am off to Frankfurt on business for a couple of days. A few years ago, I would have jumped at opportunity's like this, but I don't want to leave my LO's .

Someone took away my nice smiley laid back baby

and replaced him with a miserable little boy who launches any item he doesn't want, has huge temper tantrums, reaches and touches everything he shouldn't and pulls everyones hair!

LittleMissNorty · 11/01/2010 16:59

meant to say PT, what a nightmare with the paypal thing....I've had various fights with Paypal over the years and have heard some right horror stories.

Sounds like its being sorted which is good

elkiedee · 11/01/2010 17:20

C is becoming a violent little thug. He already has 8 teeth, has done for a few weeks, but I think he's growing more.

ST/PT, sorry to hear about Paypal. My PP account is still suspended (my choice) since someone made a Skype payment through my account of 100 Euros, my bank were more helpful than PP but I stopped paypal being able to transfer money.

SM (LBB) hope you make a quick recovery. Does he really think the NHS are going to keep people in to convalesce just because their dps are going to expect them to do everything as soon as they get home?

MOS/DS, remember the problems with the milk but they were worse here when we travelled wtih D than in the US, where security were horrified at them making dp taste D's formula.

SilveryMoon · 11/01/2010 18:02

mos Yay on the tooth
for the houseboy
STW Yes, I'm feeling much better, thank you . I completely agree about the more interesting life. We do lots more playgroups and baby/toddler friendly things than we did when Jacob was this age.

Went shopping in Staines today. Got myslef a new pair of boots and got Jacob some wellies too. Bit knackered now but was feeling the start of cabin fever coming on!

Spottyshoes · 11/01/2010 18:46

Hey everyone - just flying in to mark thread. Hope you're all ok xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

SilveryMoon · 11/01/2010 21:03

Hello spotty
Welcome back. How are you?

dinkystinky · 11/01/2010 21:05

Elkie, LMN - I have been known to affectionately call Danny my little hooligan (as he's into bopping whoever is trying to hold him in the face) or little lemming (as he tries to scale heights and leap off) or little nutjob (as he just goes crazy over nothing in particular) or little pirannha (as he tests out those new teeth on all and sundry) - but underneath I know he's still my adorable little boy and sadly the independent streak/hard work moments are just another sign of our little babies turning into little people who are exploring their - and other people's - boundaries. Just draw a line under the bad days - tomorrow is a new day and will hopefully be much better.

MoS - BonsoirAnna and Xenia are now tag teaming each other on the weighting pregnant women thread. They're both utterly bonkers.

Snowtulips - thank god paypal are refunding the money to you!

littlesez · 11/01/2010 21:12

Waves a big hello to the lovely Spotty. How are those buns [the colour] of steel?

dinkystinky · 11/01/2010 21:28

Littlesez - do a search under post natal for Fab Feb if you want our first postnatal thread.

If you want the first thread you posted on search for Fab Feb with your posts in.

oooggs · 11/01/2010 21:36

littlesez - I take the discipline that is being discussed is for this aged child 11/12 mths?

If it is I am appaulled {sp?) blimey I have terrible two problems (twice!!) a child of 11 mths is hardly being 'naughty'

oooggs · 11/01/2010 21:41

littlesez - our very first original Fab Feb 2009 thread is here

oooggs · 11/01/2010 21:45

& blimey I started off in the thread as 'goodtiming' it is weird reading back old stuff

swampster · 11/01/2010 21:49

I just spent AGES trying to find the thread! Came back in triumph to post link - pipped to the post.

SilveryMoon · 11/01/2010 22:05

Just skimmed through some of that thread. That must have been before we moved and I went off line for months.
It is so hard now to think back to the early pregnancy stage where we were all waiting to get past the 12 week mark and all the worries that come before then.
Thinking back, it just doesn't seem real. I suppose that's also because I can't really remember what it was like before Luke arrived.
WEll, I do, I think, sort of, but not really.
