Just checking that this worked....

Insy, I agree with Clara that you do get broody when your youngest reaches a certain age even if you are certain you want no more. My first thought on having DD was "thank goodness I never have to do that again", that was before even wondering what sex she was or if she was okay , and now I find myself slightly broody. The same has happened to a friend of mine too. I think the key is to work out if the feeling is actually wanting another child or if it is just nature doing its thing.

Clara, poor Martha being covered in bites , its awful for them, DS2 and I are both prone to being bitten and he has had so many on him recently I lost count, we had a load of tiny black fly type things in our conservatory so I don't know if it was them? They have reappeared this week, along with bites on me and DS2 - I have de-flea'd the cat just in case though! I did smile at your hen/child comment although sadly the new hen died on Monday night , I'm not sure she was totally healthy, she was very light compared to my girls (although a bit bigger in size) and quite docile. I feel very sad about it, like I have failed her. Poor hen.

Skid, fab news that LO is head down! Either he's turned or has a very bony bottom! Thanks (to all of you) for your reassuring words, I am trying to be calm about tomorrow although have been a bit fidgety today.

Clairey, at H just walking in like that! He absolutely has no right to! I have no idea about your DD's sweatyness but like the others I would suggest taking her to the GP as it might well be something fungal I guess. Sorry not to be more help. With DD wetting herself though I like the idea of a sticker chart for her and one for DS, perhaps she is envious of the praise DS is getting and wants some too?

Arcadie, poor DD, hope she is all recovered now from the tooth extraction and the chicken pox , you looked gorgeous in your bridesmaid dress on your FB profile pic BTW, I am very as I never looked that good at 30+ weeks pg!

FreakoidOrganisoid · 08/02/2010 10:33

Buzzy yep have tried talking to her about it and she either makes up an elaborate fanatsy about why she does it or says "my brother taught me to wee my pants" or says "I can't be bothered" or "I'm too busy". I think the last ones are most likely true tbh. The other problem is that she just doesnt care about being wet and will quite happily stay in a pool of wee until someone notices and makes her change.

The reward chart didn't work at all last time but maybe doing one for ds too would work-the only thing then is that I am actually potty training ds properly rather than just letting him run around naked and I am reluctant to do that so young because of all the issues dd has had!

Beckle sorry about your hen

DrSkidaddle · 08/02/2010 16:56

How did it go today beckle? Been thinking of you

becklespeckle · 08/02/2010 17:14

Hiya Skid, well it seems today was a preliminary thing... my bloods and urine are all fine, as is my thyroid function. The doctor had a feel of my neck and then told me I would be booked in for a scan next week and while I was there they would take some cells from it (with a heffing great needle - shudder) to test. There is then a chance they will still need to take the lump out to double check it after the results come back. The doctor was very nice and tried to be reassuring but I feel a bit flat now, I was hoping for some answers today but hopefully will get a few next week and some more the week after... Luckily SIL has said she will keep an eye on the children (next week is half term) while I go for the appointment - just waiting for them to phone me with it now...

becklespeckle · 08/02/2010 17:15

Thanks for thinking of me Skid

Thanks Clairey too for the for my poor hen.

BouncingTurtle · 08/02/2010 17:43

Hi Beckle, I know you probably wanted something more definitive, but they just need to be thorough. Hopefully you will get something positive soon
Sorry about your Hen!

Claraq - how is your spotty one, are they healing up?

We saw 3 houses at the weekend, one was beautiful but too small, the second was also lovely, a good side and had an extension which would serve as a playroom and office for me, but the road was very narrow with naff all parking. 3rd was in an estate that DH described as RAF - rough as F*.

But we have narrowed down exactly where we are moving too, and it will be to the townships on the SE outskirts of Sheffield - only a short drive away from where DH was working.

I hadn't realised but where DH is working, is just up the road from where I used to work when I lived in Sheffield 10 years ago! In fact I used to drive past it every day! Spooky or what!

cazzybabs · 08/02/2010 19:42

AHHHHH I am so cold!!!!!!

Evie is being a nightmare at the moment - because she wants to do everything herself...however reading everyone's problems I feel quite lucky! There are too many to comment on, but you all have my sympathizes, to wether it is getting over chicken pox, smelly feet, weeing accidents, house finding problems, chicken death and ex-husbands (sorry to everything else I missed out)...

I WANT SOME GOOD NEWS FROM YOU ALL

claraquack · 08/02/2010 23:36

Cazzy - here's some good news, we're having a night away without children at an all-inclusive on Friday night, swim-up bar here we come!!! (this is thanks to my parents who are here at the moment and will babysit).

Martha not in a nappy tonight for the first time...she is dry every morning for a while now, but sod's law tonight she'll wee!

BT - sounds all very familiar, right house, wrong location etc....

buzzybee · 09/02/2010 00:02

Clairey, could you maybe do a side-by-side sticker chart where YOU have to do something to earn stickers too? Might work if she responds to competitive pressure. Obviously yours would be something different! I did this a few years ago for DD1 re something (can't for the life of me remember what now!) and it was more effective that just the sticker chart for her alone which didn't work.

Beckle, how aggravating that you still have to wait. Poor hen too!

DD2 is very proud of herself as she has new pink shoes which she just thinks are the bee's knees!

She hasn't slept last 2 days at pre-school and last night fell asleep watching Harry Potter on the carpet.

Only 10 days til we get our puppy

BouncingTurtle · 09/02/2010 07:17

Ooh Clara that sounds lovely . Enjoy!

Beckle - yey!! Have the DDs been thinking up possible names for their new puppy?

Cazzy - yes DS has been a bit of a mare, food wise he lives on cereal, breadsticks, mini cheddars, cheese, yoghurt, bananas and pasta bolognaise! I have to hide veggies to get them down him, and he refuses any other fruit I offer him!! I am hoping it is just a phrase he will grow out of.

Took him to a toddler gym class yesterday, we were late, he didn't want to join in with the singing and dancing, instead decided to strop, but then joined in when the leader got some balls out. He was fine from that point onwards until it was time to go, then he had another full on strop.

I am going to take him next week!

cazzybabs · 09/02/2010 09:40

OK Clara - thats not good news thats just showing off ...have a lovely time.

We haev just booked a week in the lake district for easter (but with the girls).

Buzzy - also ....

becklespeckle · 09/02/2010 12:33

Cazzy, good news here is that I sold my old hen house within a few hours on ebay, I thought I had overpriced it but obviously not! Just waiting for DH to sort out a new area for the girls and then we can get a couple more! You are not too far from me I don't think so are more than welcome to bring the girls over in the summer hols to meet them if you like My Evie also wants to do everything for herself at the moment! "No, me do it." seems to be her favourite phrase... Its very cold though, I have a top, cardi and a fleece on today and I'm still chilly! I hope you have a fab time over Easter in the Lakes, I am very as I love that area. We are planning for Cornwall in the summer but as we haven't booked anything yet I reckon we might camp rather than hiring a cottage .

BT that must be so frustrating but I'm sure you'll find the right house soon! We've talked about moving lots of times but can never find anything we like as much as what we have so have just stayed put.

Clara, very at your night out, sounds fab! Also very impressed at Martha being out of nappies at night too! I really must think about potty training DD, I might try over Easter...

Buzzy, I bet the girls are very excited about the puppy coming, do they have a name for it yet?! Pink shoes sound great too, Evie loves having new shoes!

Evie had her first haircut yesterday , her hair is mad as it is quite curly and fine so I just took her to have all the dry ends trimmed. She was so good! She sat in the little chair with the gown on and chatted to my friend (the hairdresser) - too cute! We went into town after the hospital (which is not in my town) and they have a Claire's Accessories so we took her in there and she was beside herself with excitement at all the hair things and sparkly stuff! She has a new bracelet and a couple of headbands to keep her hair out of her eyes, she's so pleased with them!

FreakoidOrganisoid · 09/02/2010 14:37

Oh that could be worth a try buzzy, maybe one to stop me shouting

I am freezing too cazzy, am currently wrapped up in a blanket but that isn't great considering I need to get up and go to Tesco!

DS is making me laugh atm, he has recently discovered the word "but" so keeps using it to link completely unrelated sentences eg "I am sitting down on the sofa but I already had my vitamins but I took my socks off"

claraquack · 09/02/2010 16:34

clairey - wow your ds really is a chatty one isn't he?

Beckle - hmmm, that must be frustrating still not knowing. I hope you get some answers at your scan.

BT - Martha's mostly healed up now, the bites were horrendous but they didn't seem to bother her. Like chicken pox but only on the arms and legs.

Skid - how many weeks to go now, bet you're ready to drop?

I gather it's cold again at home. Sorry about that. Lovely sunny day here

We've just had our first 24-hour period without nappies for nearly four and a half years!

OP posts:
DrSkidaddle · 09/02/2010 19:46

oh gosh beckle - how disappointing when you thought you'd get some proper answers. At least the scan is soon and you should know soon after that. Hope you are bearing up OK.

That is so cute about Evie in Claire's Accessories - I remember DD being just like that (still is age 4 tbh). DS has taken to wearing one of DD's sparkly pink hairbands recntly and spent all of Sunday in a white fairy dress! People probably think we're terrible letting him dress like that but he looks so pretty!!!

clara - wow at your DD being dry at night and at your night away

clairey - love the little quotes from your DS - can just imagine what he's like! I remember when DD discovered the word but as well. She has recently started saying, well mummy, you never know... with a slightly unsettlingly knowing expression as if she's psychic or something...

BT - sympathies with house-hunting - I'm sure you will find something that's just right - just takes a bit of a slog... at least it sounds like you and your DH agree though - DH and I only ever really argue when we're house-hunting, oh and choosing baby names...

clara - just 10 days to go! I am so not ready to have a baby! I do now have hospital bag packed (ish) and enough clothes for him but my head is not even close to ready - especially as I am running round like a mad woman at work trying to get everything sorted before I leave - keep harking back to the days when I was pg with no children - embarrassing at how hard I found it when actually I could just go to bed/ put my feet up whenever i fancies - what I wouldn't give for that now

cazzybabs · 09/02/2010 20:21

Beckle - I will invite myself over!!!!

Had parent's evening today...it was OK but I really fucked up..I wrote in a report about a child going on a trip and of course they were away...I am normally so careful...ahhhhh

I am seeing the midwife tomororow - I am so scared...she is really scary...I have such whitecoat syndrome.

FreakoidOrganisoid · 10/02/2010 12:55

Whoops Cazzy! Hope the mw isn't too scary.

Skid ds quite often takes dd to preschool wearing hairclips or hairbands, god knows what they think of me! So far he has saved his dress wearing for home though (and at the moment he is usually found wearing just a jumper). Lol at psychic dd dd keeps telling me I am going to have another baby when she is 6 with another daddy because her daddy doesn't want more babies I am secretly hoping she is right

at the nappyless clara household

DrSkidaddle · 10/02/2010 17:24

cazzy - hope it went OK with your scary MW

clairey - your DD sounds so sweet - I hope her prediction is correct too! Only 3 years to go... glad someone else lets their DS dress up like a girl too - why should it only be girls who get to be pretty?!

FreakoidOrganisoid · 11/02/2010 10:28

Skid I have just realised your baby is conveniently due at the end of half term

BouncingTurtle · 11/02/2010 15:17

Have just tried to book an appointment with the Ophtalmologist for DS, and there are no fecking appointments available! FFS!!!!

FreakoidOrganisoid · 12/02/2010 16:21

How annoying BT, have they offered you anything?

BouncingTurtle · 13/02/2010 19:33

Rang the number on the form I got from the GP, and they said I will get an appointment through the post. Stupid system!

Daniel's left eye is just weepy all the time, it's getting past the time where it can be put down to an immature tear duct, so GP has referred him.

claraquack · 14/02/2010 01:24

BT - how long has it been weepy - could he have got something in it? Hopefully you will get an appointment soon.

We had a great night away last night, spent yesterday afternoon drinking cocktails and arguing with Americans, went out for a sail on a Hobie cat (like a small sailing boat thing), sat in the sea to watch the sunset, ate way too much and generally had a good time.

Missed the dd's like mad though, I am so pathetic! Luckily they had a good time with granny and grandpa and apparently didn't even wake up.

Quick question - I keep seeing adverts on Mumsnet for a program called One Born Every Minute, I assume this is about childbirth, what is it? Is it any good?

OP posts:
DrSkidaddle · 14/02/2010 15:46

clara - I watched that programme last week and it was terrifying to a 39wk pg woman but also very interesting and emotional - would def reccommend it as you're not giving birth imminently (ever!). It's a fly on the wall documentary following women in a hospital in Southampton as they g in to give birth. Last week was a C-Section and a 4th (vaginal) birth - next week there is a waterbirth I think... glad you had a good night - sounds fantastic - I also always really miss the DC when we go away but as long as you still managed to have a good time (unlike me who spent 3 days blubbing when DH and I went to Budapest when DD was 9 months!)

BT - have you managed to get an appt yet? How annoying

clairey - book your train tickets girl, I think it's going to be soon (1.5 hrs of contractions on Wed, lots of cramping since, MW says uterus feels tight and thinks he will be early...) - although I bet he's bl**dy 2 weeks late now!! (due this Sat coming)

FreakoidOrganisoid · 14/02/2010 15:55

Well Skid as it is valentines day I hope you have a curry and sex to celebrate (and get baby moving!)

My hormones seem to have gone haywire atm and after years (yes really) of not wanting sex or fancying anyone I am lusting after random men-I currently fancy my window cleaner ffs! I suppose it means I am recovering emotionally... but

I watched that prog too, quite enjoyed it.
