Hello, have had a lovely day with J. Went shopping to get a number one balloon for tomorrow and then a big long walk to and around the park and a visit to duck pond. Am feeling quite emotional about him being 1 tomorrow, he just seems to have grown so fast. Keep thinking that this time last year I was in the delivery suite hooked up to my drip loving the epidural but beginning to wonder if my baby would ever come! In some ways that seems like years ago but also it's like he's got to 1 in a blink of an eye.

Myjob- Hope your head feels better, poor you! I hope all the dcs have fun and aren't too much of a handful.

Jenwa- Glad P had a great day

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/10/2009 19:42

Had a looooong and tiring day today. Dd was up horribly early and woke everyone, and was consequently a PITA all day as she was so tired. And for some reason we (with some friends) thought it would be a good idea to go to the Science Museum in half term week. After we'd queued for about half and hour, and they said it would be another 15 mins to get in, and we could envisage having to queue for everything when we got in as well, we decided to abandon the idea and find somewhere for lunch and then pop to Covent Garden for a bit and then schlepp home again (we had off-peak tickets, so had to be on train by 4:30 at latest). But waist extender for my carrier was missing (dh was last to use it and doesn't use the extender) so I couldn't use it, and dd's friend had a pushchair so dd wanted to use one, which meant carrying D a lot of the time without a carrier. All v stressful, but at least it filled a day I suppose .

Did you make your cake Rachie? How did it turn out?

I spent the morning doing writing assessments and the afternoon at the park which was slighly more pleasant. Got an early start tomorrow as I'm going into work to try and make some headway on the rest of the assessments that need doing before parents' evening next week. I can imagine your frustration at not getting anything done at school yesterday, Rachie.

S managed with no milk again last night and only had 2 major wakes and was settled again quite quickly. Do you think I should move back into the bedroom and try and settle him without feeding him when he wakes (I'm imagining this will make him crazy!), or do you think it's better to leave dh to it for another couple of nights to really break the association? Wise ladies, what do you think?

Myjob - How's your head?
Star - How are you today?

star6 · 27/10/2009 19:52

Think of all the fab exercise you got carrying D all day! Whenever I carry Q a lot when we're out somewhere, I always think, wow, I wonder how many calories I've just burned carrying 23 lb Q for 3 hours!?! Then, it's ok to have a well earned treat.
Silly you thinking the science museum was a good idea during half term Tomorrow, try for the aquarium and then the london eye

Rachie - glad you had a good day today

How's it going with all the kiddos myjob? ANd your head? Maybe ronshar will come later and give you some advice. Feeling unwell afterward doesn't sound so great. Was it nausea? Maybe you're pg?? you were nauseous last week too...

star6 · 27/10/2009 19:54

I'm ok. I'm avoiding deal with DH stuff right now because to much else on - I know that's bad.

Rachie - i can totally relate to going in to get stuff done and getting nothing done with Q! He walks around, empties out random drawers of manipulatives, empties bookshelves and book baskets.... tosses pens around - what a joy

I'm certain it's easier, pistachio. 2 seems tricky, and 3 seems even more difficult!

Honeymoonmummy · 27/10/2009 20:06

Hi all, I have read but it's all gone back out the other side!

Ronshar, I can't believe you're going to a bed already, that's so scary to think they're old enough for a bed!!! I can't leave Poppy in the cot with her toy drum as she climbs on top of it in an attempt to escape...

Had a lovely lie-in today courtesy of DH. Poppy's appetite seems to be finally back with a vengeance thank god and her poo's are back to normal so will be able to get back to normal baby groups next week thank god. We have baby cafe on Mon, nothing on Tues, Toddler groups on Weds and Thurs, Puddle Ducks on Thurs and Rhythm Time on Fri We went to the library today and they were having a book sale so got lots of good books for Pops. I've also got a number of cake making books, I'm looking at doing a pig face one, either one big one or a number of fairy cakes. Reckon one big one will be less faff?

I've got a few more days on 1/4 dose of my AD's then back to the sertraline, doc told me to do this to make transition easier.

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/10/2009 20:09

I'm sure 3 is a doddle really star .

Ds only napped for 40 mins today too pistachio throughout his 14 hour day .

Sounds like a nightmare day CSWS. I was thinking of taking S to the London Aquarium (There's a 2 for one deal with National Express at the moment if anyone's interested, goes on for a while, I think) but the prospect of doing it this week was just too much to contemplate for more than a minute or so.

FWIW, if anyone's ever in central London and needs somewhere for their LOs to run around a bit, I find the Royal Festival Hall pretty good as it's such a big open space. If you go through to the back area, you can sit and have a drink while they just amuse themselves.

CantSleepWontSleep · 27/10/2009 20:13

Oh yes, someone asked about the bed thing. Dd could climb out of her cot by about 22 months (she fell off the top of it at that age when messing about up in her room with friends), so we switched her cotbed to a bed at that point, with a bedguard on the side. And when she learned to get out of bed herself we put a stairgate on her door, until she learned not to go wandering around at bedtime or in the night.

Myjob as long as you are not feeling sick, have no double vision then you should be ok. If you get any of those then you should get yourself checked out. But as it has been a while I would say you are probably ok.

CSWS, you loony. Half term what were you thinking. Has your brain turned to mush already? Be careful carrying D please.

Pistachio not rain today down here. I think it is so funny that we live at almost opposite ends of the country. I love MN sometimes.

Rachie in case I dont get on tomorrow. Have a wonderful day and happy birthday to J.

AJM, where are you again. Did DD have a good birthday?

aubergenie - when we went on a non-school holiday day, it was busy. Not too busy, and we had great fun, but from what I hear, the lines/queues can be really long and it can be so crowded on holidays. Yes, it's 2 for 1 if you take the train or bus to get there. Great deal

Q napped for 3 hours today (lucky DH!), but he seems to have dropped his afternoon nap in favour of the 3 hours mid day. When he sleeps less than 2 hours, he needs another nap by 3.30pm for about 30-40 minutes.

Wow HMM you have a very busy week!

Hey! New development for Q!!!
* When we say, "round and round and round" he turns around and around and around in a circle!! Well, writing it out like that, it seems rather strange but it's really cute! A sign that he understands us! Hooray! I'm teaching him to "dance" when we say dance now. This boy loves to dance and does it at the slightest sound of music. If it's loud, he's all about it!

ronshar · 27/10/2009 20:21

We did the stair gate as well. That lasted a few days until DD1 worked out that she could climb over it. She was 13 months old. I then realised that she could also open the gate on her own. So we had to shut the door.
DD2 wasn't quite so adventurous. Her party trick was to empty out all her draws out on to her bed. Some nights it was hard to see if she was still in the room. We had to slowly remove items of clothing until we found her. I was always worried she would suffocate under the weight of tshirts and pj's!!!
W so far has worked out how to open all the draws in our room and climb up onto the top. Nothing is safe. He can climb into the bath, toilet, up a chair in te kitchen and onto the work tops!!!

So no having three isnt more hard work just MY three

aubergenie · 27/10/2009 20:25

S has learnt how to undo the catch on his cot. Fortunately, he hasn't figured out that he needs to undo both of them to get out.

Myjob - You're making me thing of Mary Poppins getting all those kids to sleep.

45 minute nap here too.

aubergenie · 27/10/2009 20:30

Ronshar - Your children are daredevils.

S isn't so adventurous but he did climb right into the dishwasher while I was emptying it today.

star6 · 27/10/2009 20:31

omg! You have really intelligent kids, ronshar! No wonder your DD1 is top female mathematician.
Q just puts his hands on the stairgate bars and cot bars and shakes them like an angry caged ape.
DH lets Q walk around on our worktop in the kitchen . I'm getting him to stop, though. So dangerous! Q doesn't get up there himself, though. He just points and makes a noise.

Oh yeah, I think he can also say "up" when he wants to be picked up. I've heard it quite a few times now

Star - You know that aquarium deal, is it with tickets on any trainline do you know? I couldn't find any info on their website, but did find it on the National Express site.

star6 · 27/10/2009 20:47

I think it's on national rail? I just typed in 2 for 1 london aquarium and it said if we arrived by nat exp bus or nat rail train then we could use the voucher. We brought hte voucher and they didn't even ask for our train tix as evidence. So worth it 2 for 1. Way too expensive without that.

star6 · 27/10/2009 20:48

2 for 1 london aquarium with National Rail

aubergenie · 27/10/2009 20:51

Thanks Star!

Yes, full price is a rip-off £16 so that's a great deal.

jenwa · 27/10/2009 21:01

P is dancing star she sits on her knees and twists her top half from side to side, its soooo cute. She is also climbing too though, she keeps trying to climb on the chairs and sit down or up the sink or stairgate, dd1 was not a climber at all. I am hoping P does not climb out of her cot too soon! lol at your dd ronshar emptying her drawers, she obvioulsy liked to be comfy then!

myjob ouch for the head! Glad you are ok now though and that all kids alseep! Hope you dont get a headache in the morning, bump induced or 4 kids induced!!!

rachie I know how you feel re emotional about them turning 1, I felt like that yesterday, kept picturing what I was doing this time last year etc and sad that it has all gone by so quickly but also glad she is developing and have had such a lovely year. It does go by so quickly though and I think with dd1 I knew I would want more but now we have decided on sticking at 2 its sad to think we wont do it again.
